    lini- hi and welcome back.
Bombay Sapphire is actually the top of the line Bombay Gin from London.
    bombay
I am a vodka drinker, but I do like the smell of good gin. Tanqueray Ten, smells great, but I don't think I can drink gin at all. Although last night, I did have a drink made with Bombay Saph, simple syrup, and juiced cucumber. It was so refreshing and yummy!

    Thanks Christine.

I do vodka, not gin also. "Gin'll make you sin", and it has, so I stick to the vodka. Although the drink you mentioned sounds yummy. How do you juice a cucumber?

Sherry - Welcome to the happiest, friendliest site here. I'll may have to pick up some Bombay. Is it as expensive as Grey Goose? I have to ration that stuff.

Shel - Have a great time in Chicago! Hey, isn't Janis from there also?

Well, Shel is gonna be sweatin' 'cause it's not only hot here but humid, too. We got a break yesterday so I turned off the air but it's back on tonight. I bet she'll just stay in the bar!

Me, I can't decide to be on or off the wagon. I think I just need to eat more when I drink so I don't get so drunk!

Tonight it's the second half of a very nice cabernet by Steven Vincent. I'm having all kinds of plumbing problems which are totally fustrating me because I'm not a plumber! I swear, in my next life I'm going to be a 'handyman'!

    Cheers!

This thread just keeps crackiing me up. IS it the longest thread on here (32 pages long now?????)

I had my first post-op glass of wine last night, after being sober for two weeks. Damned if I didn't fall asleep before I finished it.

I am SO out of practice!

A daily vodka & tonic is one of the things keeping me sane. I am doing rads but also sitting home on oxygen trying to heal my lungs from pneumonai and a small blood clot.

Bombay Sapphire is a vodka and I don't really drink vodka so don't know what to do with it but Anne was talking about a Dry Bombay Sapphire martini and with all this heat it sounds so good!!!!

Ladies, my last posting - so sorry, CHEMO BRAIN SET IN!!!

To think I wrote that BOMBAY SAPPHIRE is a vodka!!

SO SORRY! Last night tied one on with my sister-in-law from out of town. I brought up the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE and freaked!! Saw it was GIN and not VODKA!!

I'm into GIN more than VODKA but with this chemo brain I'm not so sure what I'm into these days!!

Ehh!! Vodka, gin. Gin, vodka. Basically the same results. That's okay. At least you can blame it on chemo brain. What's my excuse??

I read both posts but didn't catch either blooper! I'm blaming that on the fact that I'm a wino!

This is what I have found from personal experience and many years in the bar/restaurant business. Most people that drink gin, don't drink vodka and vice-versa. Most people that drink scotch don't drink bourbon, maybe Irish Whiskey though, close to scotch. Some that drink only beer, never drink wine or anything else.
I am vodka, scotch (Dewars, J&B, Walker Red, Single Malts and other light scotches- Not Chivas or Walker Black)wine and light beer. Oh and the occasional tequila (Margs) or rum (Capt & Diet) drink.
All of the above, but not all of the time!

Okay, so I do vodka, not gin. Brandy, not whiskey, scotch, or bourbon. I drink both beer and wine. I do tequila, not rum. I like Bailey's in the winter with my coffee. So what's that say about me? I never mix, usually have only one with dinner, unless I'm on vacation or celebrating. Thank goodness I'm still in control of the situation.

Lini- you are very normal. Extraordinary, yet when it come to drink choices, it looks like you fit in main stream.
Luckily, neither one of us says anything goes...yet! lol

Oh btw, I like red wine but white will do in this heat w/ the hot flashes.

I'm so glad I found this, I am new to using a message board. I love my wine and crown on the rocks but I would feel that I was defeating the effects of tamoxifen. Maybe I don't have to feel so guilty anymore?

Thanks, I'll make sure I pop back in every now and then. If I have posted to other categories, how do I find which message board it was on? I did one for hair loss and switching from tamox to arimidex. Is there a find by my log in name? Mahalo, Lianne

    Ladies,

How I would love to join you - but the chemo makes everything taste ugh. Haven't been able to even think about a glass of wine or a beer or cocktail for months. But you remind me that this will soon be on my agenda (I hope).

Meanwhile does anyone remember the tune with these lyrics?

Oh it's gin, gin that makes me want to sin
In the corps, in the corps
Oh it's gin, gin that makes me want to sin in the quartermaster's, quartermaster's corps.

My eyes are dim I can not see
I have not got my specs with me,
I have not got my specks with me.

Oh it's rum, rum, that makes me feel so dumb.....

Hmmm..I'm laughing here Jeanette, reading those lyrics, because at first I didn't recall them and all of a sudden the tune came to me..and for some reason I seem to recall singing that at Explorers or CGIT (like brownies and guides but through the Baptist Church)..and for the life of me, I don't know WHY we'd be singing about gin at a Baptist Church! Maybe the first verse wasn't about gin there, but I do remember the quartermaster's corps and the second verse verbatim.

Does this make me officially "old"???

Not old, just a good memory. Now perhaps we can add some other verses?
