we're just getting torrential rain here on the left coast... and wind. We call it "cloudy with a chance of wiener dogs" as anything less than 10# could fly across the yard. Awesome thunder and lighting last night. I remember the first snowfall when I was a kid... by the time the shovels came out of storage we were over it but it was so exciting to run outside and try to catch snowflakes with your tongue and build snowmen and slide around on the frozen pond.

Wahine - I'm so glad to hear you Stepdau did well & best wishes for a speedy recovery...LOL at the mfg snow coming off bldgZ, soundZ like a nice time was had by all...you must be so excited to get your parents place ready and to see them next month...I bet it is beautiful...I'm still enjoying thoughts of all your trees, mags, dogwood, willow, so gorgeous...I'm not decorating much either - we have no kids and no one coming and my upcoming tx BS is all we can handle...just keep drinking and you will un-funk fast...maybe at least a wreath and a red ribbon would be good??? LOL BM!!!

HD - thanks for the BJ tip...always on the look out for aces & 8tZ. So glad you got rid of the snot rag, you look much better now, and glad you feel better too!!! Rads are rad, Friday night I felt like a raD-doll again and needed a tad of puke 1...then I slept about 10 hours and yesterday I was all a buZZ again, cleaning house, bugging DH, even hobble-jogged...our prop taxes were due in Oct - they suck and I feel your 5-FU pain about it. I'm so glad to hear you're having fun decorating...I love your words of wisdom, none of us knows how long we have...I'm just so happy for each day with my loved ones...to share life with YOU and all of us here. I will second wahine and ask you to enjoy the decorating for me too!

Yeah, whereZ Stanzie - hope all is well and you'll be back soon Stanzie!!

Claire - so glad you could get more cycling in..iZ it snowing where you are today? I am more used to getting out in snow than rain, so hope the weather won't slow you down. What a dumb thing to say - I know it won't slow YOU down. Cool info on wine tasting..I spent many years in the Napa, Sonoma wine area in CA n had so much fun tasting...

Chrissy - thanks for your compliments...it has been proven time and again that only beautiful, intelligent , happy, creative women (like U ‘N alllllllllll of us here at the HTL) get BC...itZ a fun club!!!

RCG - tanks for da complimentZ - the tanning salon is superb...I hope you are doing well off that MFCrapola.

NM - Hope you are having a restful weekend and making lots of dough. Such a beautiful and spicey DOTD and I really welcome the buffet - so gorgeous, many thanks!! Also appreciate your rad talk, as I've said B4, it will proly suck like everything else has, but somehow I'll get thru - TITZ UP!

AStorm - I checked in yesterday and so enjoyed the Purple Rain CocKtail...I was so buZZed yesterday from feeling so good (after Friday) that I think I downed a whole pitcher..I so enjoy seeing what you other hotties look like that I thot I'd post my 1/3 hairless hed and bald face...but I got shy again, so nice of you to say I'm photogenic, that must have been a fluke...I love your avatar, you have the cutest pets...if you are still in the fed tax code you will need a lot of cookies and a lot of wine...oye vey...good luck on your exam...I know you will do great - LOL at the cookie monster and locking up your keys, you are so funny! And your words of wisdom are so perfect. Do this, don't do that...I say it's time for a nice massage, a hot tub and a big ol hot totty!

BonnieK - wow, glad you are relaxing and enjoying life again...(I'm still in active treatment and to tell the truth I just can't drink much right now cuz it makes me sickie poo.) But here at the HTL I drink gallons of vodka for breakfast, lunch and dinner with my honey nut cheerios and peanut butter cups at the black jack table. Then I always have at least a pitcher of the DOTD - funny I never get a hangover or nuthin. (In reality I did have a half glass of merlot last night which was SPLENDID! My oncologist's nurse told me between chemoZ a little wine or beer is okay. I don't subscribe to the myth the BC and alcohol don't mix, I think they make a superb team!! Itz all Aces and Eights!!) BTW - I'm north of you on the wet coast of WA - bout half way between Portland and Seattle.

LWD -  Hi and yes, let's eat, drink and be merry, it's always a holiday (or happy hour) somewhere!

DorothyK - Hi, welcome and JD CHEEERS 2 U! Geeawwwd, I haven't thot of JD for some time, but that will be on the table today for sure, thanks for the reminder how good a shot (or 2 or 3...) of whiskey can be! I second Jaybird, love your attitude!! Yeah, a lot of guys don't get it and I know they wouldn't like nutZ cut! Smoking is not one of my deals, but I know that's a hard one to kick. I support what you think is best for you. Was a time when I was all PO'd at a friend/co-worker who went n bought a big new fancy truck with high monthly payments...I thought he shouldn't spend the money in the face of pending lay-offs...next thing he was dead of a sudden heart attack at age 48...I'm glad I didn't tell him what to do because he LOVED that truck while he had it.

MrsNice - glad you are back and done with chemo...I'm jealous, I still have one - 2 week cycle to go...starting this Tuesday...bleck!!! I enjoyed your thoughts about pretending not to be a cancer patient...not silly at all...my chemo hasn't taken all my hair but I have wigs for in case it goes...it's given me a lot of anxiety, funny how the cosmetic part is just one more insult...all the rad techs who look at my boobies say are you sure we're treating the right one? Poor lefty got hacked up and didn't even have cancer, righty looks small, but more normal and has to get zapped 30 more times...the rads has been easy so far, but I've only had 3...first time DH took me and I was so nervous...2nd time I went alone and thought I would burst out crying...3rd time I laid on the table and thought about how Claire held still and thought I would burst out laughing...what a roller-coaster of emotions...thought I was dead Friday night, but after some good rest, I feel ma'velous dollink! As for weight, don't sweat it now, get finished with tx and worry about it later. Blessings to you and best wishes for feeling back to normal!!!!

Tomorrow will be rad #4 - whoopee - and my 53 BD - Tues is the crazy train again, I need a drink FAST so I can go back into de Nile. cHairs, titZ n tailZ up, more dog beers please, BARMEN!! ~ BeanZZZ

Welcome to the newbies!  There's a dog park for the furbabies, too,

     with it's own pooper scooper.

I'm especially fond of the hot tub, especially when the raspetini fountain is within arm's reach.

I also hand out (pun intended) in one of the hammocks, usually with a big pitcher of something sweet and yummy.

When you go into the casino be sure to stop at the machine just inside the door.  It looks like a change machine or ATM, but when you push the "Push here" button the machine spits out all kinds of $$$$ to gamble with.  You can go back to the machine as often as you want to.

Pants and Jock are circulating all the time-- when you want one of them they just magically appear.  They give great massages, too!

    Hi All,

Astorm, first wanna tell you I love your pic, I have three little demon weiner dogs my damn self and just love them. I would attach a picture if I knew how!

So I just made my first drink, a big titty's up to all of you here!  if you want to join me, I have asked my bartender to send each of you my favorite recipe: a heaping glass of ice, two shots of JD, a spash of JD watermelon cooler, fill to the top fo 20 oz glass with diet coke. Let me know if that bartender does not come, I will contact his boss and tell. It is the one that has no personality doing the serving tonight!!

So Chrissy, of all the members here, how funny to have found you here! I would have never thought you were a bad girl like me haha. Really though, this is a bit more personal than our usual word game. That is getting old her me.

Thanks for reposting the video, that is so hysterical!! I am so happy to be accepted into this group with open arms.

Tits up, love n peace to EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!!

    Happy Sunday Afternoon!

Claire - thanks for the encouragement.  Your cycling activities are inspirational!!  The fruits & veggies have been a challenge, as I've had diarrhea every day and adding F&Vs just makes it worse.  Yesterday was the first day in awhile with no episodes.  I've eliminated coffee as it seemed that was a culprit.  I miss it but I don't miss running to the bathroom!

NM - thanks for the welcome back!  I hear ya on the fatigue issues with rads.  I'm still fatigued from chemo and rads is going to continue that or even make it worse.

Wahine - 3 months with floor issues - you have more fortitude than I would have after that long.  Our kitchen is in the midst of a cupboard-painting project that has been going on for a week already and it'll probably be another week before it's all done and cleaned up.  DH and our son are doing the work; it was supposed to be a simple "bandaid" approach since we don't have the money to do refacing.  My DH gets into it and it turns into a perfectionistic detailed project that seems it'll never end.  I've been postponing the decorating, too, just ‘cuz I haven't really felt like it.  I usually do some fall decos before Halloween and then start with the Christmas decos on Black Friday.  We are going to someone else's home for T-Day this year, so I haven't worried about it.  No sense in trying to decorate or cook in the middle of the project mess.

Dorothy - Welcome, and thanks for coming out of your closets.  I used to love Jack & Diet Coke in my younger days.  Can't handle it now but do enjoy wine regularly.  I have also been on Zac for almost 10 years; wondering if I'll have to switch when I start tamoxifen.  As for the smoking - used to do that too.  It took contemplating having children to get me to quit 18 years ago, and I had to give up coffee and alcohol for awhile too, since they always seemed to go together.  It was really tough but am so glad I did quit.  I watched my mother suffer with emphysema for many years and I would not want to put my kids through that.  My brother was telling me his wife was taking Zyban and was able to almost quit - it really reduced her craving for cigs.  Zyban is also the same thing as Wellbutrin, which is also an anti-depressant.  Maybe you could talk to your doc and see if that is a possibility for you.

AStorm - LOVED your post about what we are "supposed" to do.  It's all a crock o'baloney for the most part (except the fruits & veggies thing, I guess).  My MIL sends me stuff all the time with headlines like "The 10 Best Foods to Prevent Cancer" and then a few weeks later another with "The 9 Healthiest Habits to Avoid Heart Disease" and  lo and behold, they also "may" this and "may" that.  Well, I "may" get hit by a bus today too.

Hi Beans! - vanity is something I'm not usually full of, but now that I'm bald, have sparse eyebrows and only a few tiny short eyelashes, I look so blank that I scare myself sometimes!  Sometimes I think I should just put on an eyepatch and some hoop earrings and rock the pirate look!

So good to connect with all you fun ladies!  I'm headed back to the fountain for a refill!

Wowsa....pau hana time...YEAH!!! Happy Hour drinks all around! Interesting recipe, Dorothy! If that bartender makes one for me b4 I mix up a Seagrams/DietCoke, then I will try it!  But he'd better hurry....lol. All that snow is sure pretty....thanks for posting all the neat pics, everyone! HD that is a bunch of snow you got!!! I enjoyed reading all the posts, and really ROFLMAO, and then when I want to post, I can't think of everything I wanted to comment on! So,please realize all your posts are very appreciated and enjoyed. When there were just a handful of us here, it was easier to remember whose post you were commenting on,but back then we didn't always post everyday either. This is a lot more fun, having so many fun gals to drink with! We gotta keep this drinking thread going!!! Glad I didn't have the snow some of you are having, and it was prob 70 today, as I am still running around in flip flops because of my broken toe. Still looks pretty colorful. FInished all I plan to do at my parents house till they get here. Wanted to order the custom pleated shades, but will take 3 wks, so instead of me making the final decision, I will take some samples with me to HI and order them while there. We leave in 2 wks, and I have a lot more work to do at the townhouse, and our house b4 even THINKING about packing!! But important things first, it is happy hour time, and I am STILL waiting on that drink!!!!! Instead of waiting for Pants, I think I'll get Skate over here, cause she can deliver drinks faster!

    Hi everyone.....

You guessed it. However, I think that our big Mother (nature) is trying to tell me something as the snow flakes started just as I was unloading my bicycle.  But it all turned out just fine.....the squall didn't start until seconds after I reloaded my bicycle.  So got in my ride, and an extra-fast time as I was trying to beat the storm.  Came home, took a bath, and feel great.

I stopped in for a hot latte, and then at the veggie stand.  BTW - I switched to chai lattes during chemo as couldn't do coffee either.

I love fruits and vegetables and eat a ton of them.  I agree that broccoli is normally a yawn unless really tender and fresh.  Most of the time it looks and tastes like green plywood.  However, things like kale braised in garlic and olive oil are delish.  I have discovered Swiss chard braised in butter with pine nuts and raisins.  Sooooooooo good.

I have a major problem as I bought a parsnip so large that it overhangs my grill pan and is at least 5" across.  No one is going to believe this story.  I am going to roast it for dinner.  (Along with some pork chops.)  So another vegetable slaying about to happen.

Did I mention I will be having wine with all of this???

So it's about fun, pleasure, and balance.  I feel just wonderful from the exercise and hot bath.

Dreaming now about skiing.....can't wait, but also know that a lot more fun with more than 1" of snow on the ground.

Now, time to let my friend who cancelled the group ride know that conditions were just FINE a bit earlier Laughing   Bottoms or TAILZ up!!!!!! - Claire

Claire, Have you tried roasting broccoli? Just tossed with olive oil in the oven....takes about 40-45 min, but when it browns,it is yummy....that, plus roasted cauliflower, and roasted green beans are my favs. We also make a broccoli salad and will use it in stir fry. I love it! Not at all like plywood to me.

wahine - suck em up - yahoo - it's happy hour! Nice post and I couldn't agree more...the more the merrier party if you ask me...good luck with all that work and do sleep in tomorrow!! I do love your new sig, can't remember if I told you that before...can't remember much anymore...is it happy hour yet?? Oh yeah, it is...now I'm trying the JD and Seagrams with coke, both sound intoxicating.

HD - you definitely need decorations with all that snow - looks like a beautiful white Christmas is on it's way...

NM - love the "ATM" machine, I got so many $$$'s out today...anyone up for craps???

Dorothy - they haven't kicked me out yet...these gals have saved my fun life!!

MrsNice - LOL - rock the pirate!!

BTW - on depression...I just hate taking prescriptions of anything cuz they always have SE's that don't agree with me...I had a down time a number of years ago and took St. John's Wart - available OTC. It definitely helped, but it does take a week or so to build up. No bad SE's also any walking/exercise helps...and a lot of booze is even better!

    Following your lead, wahine...

I have found many ways of making broccoli edible as it is the only veg my youngest will eat. We used to call it "trees"... she only eats the "leaves" not the "wood" and I am the only one who makes it right (sauteed with sliced garlic and olive oil, then a few drops of water and put a lid on to steam until just tender). She doesn't eat fruit either unless it is in a STRAINED smoothee. We even have to filter her oj.

Gail, I would love broccoli that way too! How nice that you have gotten so creative so your DD will eat some fruits and veggies. Funny to have to filter her OJ. We buy the "Most Pulp" OJ, and one day I was selecting one, and someone at the same time selected the "No Pulp"...guess thats how it works!

Beans,Looks like Gail knew what the celery in the BM was! Can't join you in CRAPS though....my DH loves it, and I just call it a "crappy" game. I'm in for BJ or slots though! Was afraid you had cleaned out our free ATM, but then, it was magically refilled....plenty of $$ for all.

    Cheers Dears!

I actually do like young broccoli, and I love the side shoots when the color is blue-green and super fresh.

Otherwise, I really like all 47 types of kale better.  I love baby bok choy too, and even plain old cabbage.  I like red cabbage salad, and I make a mean red cabbage and apple dish.

I love cauliflower.....white, purple, green, orange, and Romanesco broccoli which is more a cauliflower than a broccoli.  I usually steam one day, and then saute with onions the next day.  Sometimes I make with onions and crushed corriander.

So really not worried about getting enough crucifers.  Think I may have missed a couple, but you get the idea....even collards.

Most of these are wonderful as part of a good meal......and some lovely WINE!!!

My take on celery in BM is that it's more a swizzle stick than anything else.

Just in case I sleep in... here's a special cocktail for you Beanie.

    Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
For fellow Sagittarians like Brad Pitt, Tina Turner, Julia Roberts, Erskine Caldwell, Jane Fonda, and yours truly, you'll find that we're gregarious and adventurous. We tend to be optimistic yet sometimes irresponsible. Our symbol is the Centaur or Archer, and quite appropriately fire is our element. The Ciroc (cirocvodka.com) Espresso Martini is perfect for our restless, philosophical souls.

    Cîroc Espresso Martini
    1 ¼ ounces Cîroc Vodka
    1 shot cold espresso
    1 teaspoon simple syrup
¼ ounce Baileys Original Irish Cream

Combine Cîroc Vodka, espresso, and simple syrup in a shaker and shake well. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with cappuccino foamed Baileys and milk. Top with chocolate covered espresso beans.

    yes you do WD!

NO, NO, NO!  I ordered a Beanie cake not bean cake! Too many vegetarians in this town!

     That's more like it!

You guys are having too much fun!  First of all, I love pinot noirs from Willamette Valley.  We stumbled upon that area a few years ago, while traveling in Portland.  We got suckered into a wine of the month club with Archery Summit.  After a few months, I cancelled the membership because it was more than my car insurance!  See what happens when you drink too much!  LOL!

Beanius, love the cat cartoon.  My mom is boarding her cat for Thanksgiving because she can be a real booger and jump on the table.  Plus, she doesn't like us much (not the sweetest cat in the world - mine are super nice kitties).  So, we should be safe going over there, too!  LOL!

I start rads tomorrow.  I'm really not looking forward to it.  It's such a long commitment!  And I have to go to the depressing office next to the hospital.  The office by my house is closed for a couple months while they get new equipment.  Lucky me!

I had a Reisling tonight that was pretty good (and I'm not a Reisling person).  I forgot to write down the name of the wine.  It was really dry for a Reisling.

    Good night girls!!  Cheers!

Mine is two bottles per QUARTER.  I can do this one, especially since one of them covers Thanksgiving.  Just got an invite from a member of a cycling club I belong to, as she isn't going to Boise.  Should be the most fun time.

I think the way things work out, I get the bottles for FREE.  This is savings of other wine I buy and 20% off full glasses.  Doesn't take that much to use up $40.  Don't have delivery charges as I collect the wine myself.

Kittycat.....you will just need to taste your way through a few Rieslings.  They are really delish with pork dishes and savory sausages.  Good too, with all the rich holiday foods.

Bummer on the rads location.  But you will get through this.

I was drinking my fave cheap cab tonight.  Should buy a six pack while cheap for Thanksgiving.  Every dime counts, and more $$$ for the good stuff.

We are back! Driving home, across the Mogollon rim, it was snowing and there was an accident. We were at a stand still for about half an hour. Only saw one car, and it was in pretty bad shape. Don't know how anyone fared, but hope all was ok. Then we just tried to hurry up and get home so we weren't stuck staying the night again in a motel. It was only raining at our place, but if it gets too muddy, we can't get in. But....we made it. The gal in Bakersfield that we flew in, actually works with one of our suppliers. They are moving to L.A. so she was given 3 weeks. Anyways, she declined our offer and said she didn't want to be in sales. I think that was her plan all along, but came anyways! L Also on the way home, they had one side of the main road that comes up north, due to the Ironman that was going on this weekend in Phx. It was closed for the cycling event. There were SOOOOOO many. What neat thing to see tho, and of course, I thought of you Claire!

LOL at Astorm and your wine and cookies. LOL at HD for trying to bribe Mother Nature! LMAO!

Ok, I still have 2 more pages to read, but I must get in the shower and get my butt to work. Welcome to the newbies and I also wanted to say to MrsNice, hang in there girl. What you wrote could have been written by anyone of us and I am sure if we hadn't wrote it at some time, we thought it.

    Back later...........HUGS!!

Happy birthday Beans.  I hope you have a fun filled day.  And please allow us to celebrate with you! Let us know what time the party starts.  I have nothing to do today and will be happy to help you celebrate a new year of YOU!

Chrissy, I will miss you here and on the other forums as well.  Try to get back here ASAP!

Hi Goldie and all of you who are enjoying a snow storm, send some this way.  If it is going to be cold, it might as well snow.  Great photos of the snow, I love it! Snow makes me thirsty though.

To all of you having rads and chemo, I will be with you in spirit and will come hold your hand if needed.  Just tell me where and I will get on the plane.  Oh, I lost my ID card for the metal in my foobs - that should make for some excitement in getting through the new security system!

I can't keep up with all of your names and stories but hope to while I have time.  It is back to work for this girl two weeks from today.  I have not worked a lick since BMX in July. It figures, I find this wonderful place to hang now.  Sorry I left you last night, I took a walk around the lake outside the casino with my masseuse and woke up in his bed, oh my!!!

Can someone tell this stupid girl how to attach a photo?

    peace n love!
