Kathie, my SIL who grew the ginger crossed the white and the red ginger and bred the pink.  She now has about three shades of the pink growing.  She is a mad keen gardener and she lives at El Arish, which is about 90miles south of Cairns in Queensland so she is definately in the tropical zone.

Wow chrissy! I never heard of anyone crossing ginger like that! What talent. That is really amazing! I'll share your pics with my parents,in case they haven't seen that. I don't live in a tropical area at all....we get freezing temps in winter, some snow and ice too. And extremely hot summers, but ginger does so well here! I try to mulch it in winter, but don't always remember to. The white does so well. Looks like the kahili won't bloom again this year...the flower bud has started to open, but it takes so long, that it won't make it b4 the real cold weather hits. (I'll still post a pic when I get up to the other computer). The only place I have been in Queensland was Brisbane, and we totally loved that city, and plan to return for another visit someday. Tell your SIL that your friend from Hawaii was absolutely amazed at her pink ginger!

    Aloha,

    Kathy

Claire - thanks again for your encouragement! I'm off chemo for my bd, but Thanksgiving will be on 5-FU and caca pills. (Does 5-FU crack anyone else up??? The abbreviated name is so funny to me...) By Christmas I will be all through with KEE-MO, but will still have a week or so of rads...One way or another I'm having a lot of champagne on Christmas and New Years. And I will add extra brandy, rum and Scotch to my Christmas pudding - great idea. Sounds like you have a blast partying - keep up all the fun!!

Goldie - once again I have to say "You look Ma'vellous, Da'ling!!!" Your hair looks great and so do the eclaires. I never really understood the fatigue thing till this last weekend, staying up too late with my sis and all. I felt like a limp rag doll by the time she left and sleeping a lot really helps - I will definitely take your words to heart and keep rested!!! I'm so excited to hear you're doing manufacturing...I have worked in plastics and electronics manufacturing and at one time was a certified ISO9000 internal auditor. I was a QA manager so set up and managed all the charting for making sure products were to spec. Your vid is fantastic - GO ENTREPRENEURS GO!!! Wishing you great biz success and millions of $$ to come pouring in!!!!

AStorm - I just love your DOTD - ginger is soooooo good and you know how much I love vodka!! I'm having this for breakfast and it looks so sweet I can proly skip the peanut butter cups.

Wahine - those timers can really be a problem...my dear old dad had so much trouble with his as he got more and more senior...DH was over there re-setting all the time for him...then dad would go mess with them again and it would be all 5-FU'd again...now you have me wondering if ginger would grow over here...we have a lot of deer to consider too, they don't seem to eat the rhodies..

Chrissy - I am so envious of your location and being able to grow those beautiful flowers! We have been talking about putting in some rhododendrons as those do fabulous in our climate...maybe tomorrow, if it doesn't rain...today DH has to fix a leaking window!! Last nights storm was wild and windy and I'm sure there were hail stones banging on the windows...woke me up about 10 times...

    Rhodie pics in my dreams:

    rhodi garden

    rhodi

Well, time for breakfast of DOTD and this:

    vodka

I have a great idea to pour this into my aloe vera bottle to take with me for my rads today!! Hugs and big bottoms up cheers to you all, have a wonderful day!!! ~Beans

Beans, Love your space avatar! Not sure if ginger would grow there...it seems to like our hot summers, and I *think* your winters are a little colder than here in N AL (notice I said *think*...very vague!). But yes, rhoddies do soooooo well there....we lost 2 large ones here that my mom brought back from WA.....got too hot and of course DH does not want the sprinklers on enough. Saw humongous rhoddies in the mountains in OZ....oh they were 10-12 ft tall....amazing, and covered with flowers.

Here is the Kahili Ginger when it bloomed in '08, and my White Ginger, and when it snowed on the White Ginger....

wahine - what a beautiful pic of the Hawaiian Chiefs and I love your ginger photos!! They are so beautiful. DH used to do beautiful landscapes for us, I wish I had pics but they are all in storage...with this recession he doesn't want to spend any $$ on anything extra...he grew up in SoCal where there are beautiful gardens where he got ideas from...so sorry your DH keeps water low...I wish I could pipe you all this friggin rain...OMG I actually see blue sky out my window for a change - yippee - this will be a great day!

Beans - we grow fabulous rhodies in western wa - maybe just not near the coast?  there is a rhodie farm nearby that we like real well.

How are rads going so far?  Are you following Claire's advice for keeping still?  That would not keep me still at all :)

Well, it is too early for me to drink, but surely I could grab some leftover Halloween candy?

Beans, It would be neat to see those photos if you ever dig them up! I don't have a green thumb, but my mom lived here first and so planted tons of treees (magnolias, weeping willows, flowering pear, flowering cherry, many leyland cypress',dogwoods, roses, ginger, etc). Everything is so tall now! Cute Aloha picture! The reason I posted the Hawaiian chief pic, is to show how the "kahili ginger" got its name. Ours was sorta scrawny, some are fuller, but it is a treat when it does bloom!!!

Drinks are on me today, ladies! Pants, Jock, puleez take care of everyone! Bottoms Up and also Eat Up (following Lori's lead).....No calories here at the HTL and no hangovers!

Raincitygirl - I see a lot of rhodies over here so will try to get DH to coff up some big bucks for landscape - whoooopie...I had rad # 1 yesterday and it was EZ PZ, non-event, I bet it will suck more and more as time goes on...today is # 2 so I'm off to get my boobie ready for another zap...I am following all of Claire's advice, she seems like she has a good time...I think you should reconsider your start drinking time...wahine says it's always happy time somewhere...I follow her advice too...he he he he he, ha ha ha ha ha!!! Hope you are enjoying time off MFC - me too but I get mo next Tues...

Wahine - the trees you have are my favorites, so beautiful, you were smart to plant trees right away...I thot yer scrawny ginger looked so pretty and not scrawny...I sooooooo appreciate the drinks today, so for now bottoms up and in just a little while itz titz up for me...he he he he he! BARMEN, no hangovers!!!

I think I am going to need something strong after this one. Can just imagine how much guys would like this toast to our health.

Reminds me of the BC awareness posters in Canada about 12 years ago.  A glammed up Botticelli Venus, with the caption: Titz and Glitz!!!!   Like this ever so much more than pink.

I think I'm taking myself a Wine Hopping.  Hop, Hop, Hop.  Tailz up!!!!

Somebody save me a hammock and keep Jocks on a short leash to ice down my dog beers!    DH wants to have the dumpster picked up this Wed--we have just now started "purging" inside the house--no way to describe the crap we've accumulated over the years.  And, now, the arguments are starting...:"Why the hell do you want to save that?!!!'   "Are you crazy?!!"   "That's gotta be yours; I've never seen it before in my life!"   Tension is high, tempers are short....and I still feel like crap to boot.   Called dr today and have appt on Monday....am just not shaking whatever this crud is, and I know all this dust, handling old papers, etc. isn't helping.   I do wear a bandana around my nose most of the time, but that drives the dog nuts!!  grrrrrr--it will be so worth all this in the long run.....at the very least, we can each pack up our remaining things in a couple of boxes and be outta here!!!  (Right now, a tempting thought!)   more grrrrrr!!!!

Lori--great video!  Good luck with the new enterprise--lord, I wish you'd send some of your energy my way!      Do not let me near any of all the gorgeous flowers/plants that you all have--I am notorious for killing anything I've ever tried to plant/grow!!!

You guys chug down a few for me and I'll meet you at the HTL tomorrow.   Looks like we have some new "toasts" to add!!     Catch y'all later...............bottoms up!

Ok, didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn, have time for a leisurely breakfast and coffee before heading in to work for a couple of meetings.  I've got work that will bring in extra money scheduled for tomorrow at totally sane hours.  LIfe is beginning to look less exhausting!

We need a a good breakfast drink this morning, one with coffee.  I found the perfect drink for this am-- the Coffee Lover's Martini!

    1/2 oz Frangelico Hazelnut Liqueur
    3 oz Coffee Vodka
    1/2 oz Dry Vermouth

Chrissy--you can have a whole carafe full!  Pants and Skates are brewing up a whole big batch and putting it in pre-heated, temperature controlled carafes for us to take poolside.  Or into the casino.  I think I want to play in the casino for a while.

Hi chrissy and NM.....yummo that is a goooood drink! Joining you all in the casino, and looks like they are starting a slot tournament just for us! And I heard the BJ tables are really paying out today, so will try my luck there too. Such a nice drink to wake up to! And NM, so glad you were able to sleep in a bit today. Junie's son and my stepdau are both having surgeries today, so my thoughts are going out to both of them. DH went to the hosp at 5 am, but I *tried* to sleep in, till a contractor called toooooo darn early! Oh well, that nice*Coffee Lover's Martini" should take the sting off....never heard of coffee vodka (but what flavor HAVEN"T they added to vodka!), but it sounds good, so I am taking my carafe into the casino right now...*opens door*, *hears lots of ca-chings!*....oooh someone must be hitting it big!

Oh please let me have a whole carafe of that Coffee Martini. That sounds devine NM. Glad you were able to get a little rest and can make a little extra $$$. Junie, I am glad you are heading back to the docs, this has hung on way too long. Hopefully you and hubby will be able to look back on this cleaning out business and laugh. Wishing your son all the best, I hope its not anything too serious. Same for your daughter Kathy. How's ur tootsie....besides sore! The gal in the video is not the one we are flying in. We paid to have the video done, and the gal in it, is actually Miss Utah (I believe). I too hope we can make some big bucks, but that won't happen if we can't find some retailers to sell our product. We have a LOT of money invested in it so far and hope to at least get that back. I can help for now since our main business is slow, but once March gets here, I am stuck on the phone almost all day long with customers. Beans, I have no idea how you are holding still during tanning following Claire's advice! Surprised If ya know what I mean! HD, I see you still have a tissue, does that mean you are still feeling under the weather? I hope not. Stanzie, I hope things are ok going better with Liesl. Chrissy, quit hogging the boys....you need to share! j/k  RCG, I agree with Kathy, your picture is very pretty. Astorm, I think I will have a few of those Ginger Cranberry cocktails this afternoon. Love it when we have "healthy" drinks Wink. Well, we are about half way to Phx...love modern technology! Driving across the rim, and playing on the internet!

So Cheerz to Glitz, Starz and Titz.......this Ditz is on her way to the Ritz! (Embassy Suites, really) you girlz all have a great weekend........BARMEN!

Oh, awesome!! Rolled outa bed n found a carafe full of Coffee Lover's Martinis - yeah! Put a smile on my pin headed face (see my laptop caught the moment in my avatar.)

Wahine - you sound so bizy with fix ups! I know that life so well..love the drinking party pic, good way to take in a snort of vodka - LOL!

HD - I'm wondering about that tissue too??? Hope you are getting well...Happy Friday and get some rest this weekend so we can have fun at the casino. Will you be there?

Claire -  Titz n Glitz n TAILZ UP - ha ha ha ha! The mental pic on that is hilarious!

Junie - glad you are going to the doc & hope all that junk gets hauled away soon so you can get back to a less tense life...my DH is still suffering creepy crud coff too, bad bugs, get rid of em. All my stuff is stored in an attic and DH sometimes talks about going through it all - YIKES!!! -  and all the stuff you're saying is why I just leave it in the attic...Good luck with all that stuff!

RCG - yeah your pic gave your pretty self away!

NM - glad you're catching up on rest and $$$ - thanks for the DOTD, much needed this am as I drank way too much of that cranberry booze yesterday. It said vodka or gin, so don't tell but I put in both!

Chrissy - another beautiful photo - love it - so nice!!! I will join you at the casino too!! I like black jack! Double or nothing...who's game? NM is making $$ maybe I can make some gambling, oh how fun!

Goldie - Still hoping you make millions and have a safe trip...Claire seems to have a lot of tricks up her sleeve to get through the night and suntans...

I still have hair though it is not to my liking...I used to keep it nice and now I'm still scared to touch it - no nice trim, no blow-dry, it just hangs there waiting to be safe from chemo. Now I'm off to draw in some eyebrows (when I got home yesterday I realized they looked so crooked - I got the right one way too big or was that the left one? Hope my hands will do a better make-up job today)...and get ready for more rad fun, holding still (Clair style) with my titz out flapping in the breeze...BUUZZZZZZZZZZZZaaaappppp!

At what point did I enter the Twilight Zone??

All my best thoughts are going out to Junie's son and wahine's stepD for excellent surgeries...Also my best thoughts to all Coffee Lover's Martini slurpers.

    HAPPYZZZZZZZZ FRIDAYZZZZZZZZZZZ, BARMEN!

I am in for Black Jack.  Double down on aces and eights.  That's what I was told. LOL!  TGIF!  Good to hear the surgery went well Kathy.  Junie, hope your son's went well also.  You better stop cleaning and rest up a spell or we are going to have to come and kidnap ya.  Beautiful flower pics chrissy,  and I also wanted two of the DOTD at work this morning.  Lori, nice video.....how the hell did you find a gal from Bakersfield anyway?  Hope your new production business soars!  Beans...glad your rads are going well.  NM....extra money before xmas......yehaaaaa.  I just got my property tax bill yesterday.  I just shoved it aside and said 5-FU!  RCG, I don't think that elephant resembles you at all either.  Nice try though.  Stanzie...hope you are OK.  I have been thinking about ya.  Claire, you probably have a ride planned for the weekend.  Hope your weather is better than mine.  You'll be strappin' on your boards before long.  Where do you ski?  Whistler?  Not familiar with the slopes in the Pacific Northwest.  I did ski Mt. Bachelor once upon a time ago in the west.  Dee, would sure like to have a little pop in from you.  We miss your warp!  AStorm, I don't think anyone should be tested on the night before Thanksgiving.  WTF?  Good luck on that test anyway!  I hope you are wrong about the P-fountain.  I still have one more surgery to partake in sometime.  Hopefully before end of year.  You need to get your weiner out of that bun too!  LOL!  Hi to everyone else.  I know I've missed a few.  Well cheers & I guess TITS UP!  Hunkydory

Hi ladies! Hope everyone is having a fantabulous friday night! Just got home from an early dinner out and draft beers at an oyster house....then to the big Christmas tree lighting! Complete with manufactured snow coming off the bldgs the moment they turned the tree on (of course SANTA pushed the button!). The kids/g'kids met us there, and the faces on the g'kids were priceless! Esp when Santa ended up right by us (we were at the front of the stage). Such a mob of people though! IT was a nippy, cold night, so it really felt like Christmas. Now, if only they could wait till AFTER Thanksgiving!!!! The mayor spoke too, and lot of entertainment. IT was also nice not to work for a bit!

HD, Having a blast playing BJ with you! Although I have to say, I DO NOT double down on aces! I play rather conservatively though. OF course we will keep the percotini fountain going, for your next surgery, and anyone else that might need it!

    TITS UP!

I am headed to the store for the salmon sale after an unproductive day.  Meeting was canceled after I drove all the way out there.  Person came down with a 24 hour bug, so glad not to be exposed to it.  But wasted over 2 hours with the trip and prep.

Yes....how did you guess I would TRY to get in one more week of cycling.  Hoping it's not icy yet.  All this talk of coffee drinks makes me yearn for Irish Coffee.  Or perhaps just a nice warming hot toddy.

Time to move into some more clothing layers.  True time to switch sports is when I can't tell the difference between skiing and cycling garb above my shoes.

One other tidbit of info I need to pass on is to make sure you document any moves between states as NY State just asked me what happened to my 2007 return.  What happened is that I moved, and got out of NY prior to the end of January.  I explained everything and sent them a copy of my attorney's letter to me and my ex husband showing date, Seattle address, and confirmation of divorce judgment.  I think that should do it.

This is enough to make me need a stiff something or other.  TAILZ UP!!!!
