how about drinking?

Beans.....need to share my tip for staying motionless during rads. For me, that was the hardest part until I figured out the secret.
You take yourself to that wonderful calm post mind-blowing sex. This way, you get an endorphin high while getting zapped.
Of course, it backfired a couple of times, and I was left climbing the walls. But most of the time, worked like a charm

Oh Gail, that sounds lovely - Well I want to come to where you are...... maybe someday!
0 -
Oh wow you guys all really do know wine. Fabulous as I want to have my wine party couple over and I'm always worried over what wine to serve now I know to ask you all!!! Yay! Now I just have to stabalize here and then party!
0 -
YAY our beeniebaby is back! Glad you had a nice time with your big sis, and are starting your rads with guns blazing (to get back at the rads~). Know you will be a trooper through it all! Welcome back!
Gail, Where is the winery that you said "looks like you are on a ridge top somewhere in Italy;"? When we were in CA once and drove to the diff wineries,I remember one that was up high on a ridge. Seems like we parked below and had to walk up? Maybe cause we didn't know where else to park, though. The view was GAWGEOUS and although I don't member the name, I member the place! The wine tasting area (if I member right) had the glass doors/windows behind you if you were belly-up at the bar. So many wineries there in CA, but neat if that was the same one you get wine from!
I guess I got a different creeping crud than junie or HD....seems to have gone into my chest and I am TOTALLY worn out. Yesterday I broke my little toe (again) while being with installer at parents house...this is my toe that when it first broke a couple of yrs ago went straight out...perpendicular to how it should be. GAWD did it hurt...pushed it back in place, taped it up and went toER. The ER tech at the desk said they prob wouldn't do anything else to it, but he wanted to peek and when he took my tape off I wanted to strangle him, as he moved my toe by pulling hard and it hurt like heck. Then he taped it just as I had it....WTF???? But this time when it happened, I had 2 guys there (at parents house) working on 2 diff things, so while running betwn them, I taped it w/painters tape. WRONGO....that tape stretches and it didn't help at all. So now it is all swollen, w/2 big bumps and is purplish. I am not a fun person to be around at the moment...LOL.
Glad to hear Liesl is doing much better! YAY....know what a relief it is to you,Stanzie. I would hope that your kids and ex would take excellent care of her, as they know how much she means to you. My DD and kids found a stray puppy this wk and are caring for it till they find a home for her (they already have 3 big dogs). Got a kick out of an email my g'dau sent today...saying the pup is "part mutt, part boxer, part?".....guess she doesn't know what "mutt" means...LOL.
That drink looks soooooo good! IT should be the thing to get us all well, right? Well, its worth a try! Sun finally came out here after a couple of days of rain and colder temps...now the sky is as pretty as it always is at our HTL!
Cheers and Sneers(how I feel)!

Kathy - sorry you got the creepin crud. What's with you guys? Maybe you should drink more. That particular winery is in the Los Gatos/Santa Cruz mountains. There are lots of ridge-top wineries in California. Pinot likes the mountains and I go where the pinot grows! Just had an awful thought... I'm dreaming of Seattle and I don't even know if they have wineries there. hmm. That was one of the attractions of Oregon... if there weren't so many old Frenchmen in Champagne... now I'm just sounding like a lush. well...
Beanie - good luck with your rads... listen to Claire.

That cocktail looks like just the thing for me--today was day 2 of gettng up at 4 am and I am feeling it! But anything with Kahlua makes my day better!
0 -
Claire - thanks for the sex tip, I mean tanning tip, will do!
Stanzie - I'm all up for wine, any kind! So glad to hear Liesl is doing better!
Wahine - thanks for the welcome back, I've been missing you all so much. Crud to creeping crud and broken toe! Oh that sounds awful! I'm grumpy too cuz we were all dressed up and in the car heading down to get my sun tan when these voice messages popped in and it turns out they can't do me today due to a power outage from last night's storm. Oye vey. I just want to get this over, now they say they will call tomorrow if they can do me then.
AStorm - I'm sure the reason I didn't get creeping crud from DH was all the vodka and kahlua I've been downing! Thanks for the "good luck" I guess it worked cuz no rads and I'm feeling fine!!!!!
NM - Here's to Kahlua (and not getting up at 4 am).
So no rads today...another delay...maybe tomorrow...unbelievable....Oh well, leaves me much more time for sex and drinking, or better yet drinking and sex!
BTW - thought I'd put on my sexy nighty instead of rad suit for now...XXXOOO

Astorm, there are lots and lots of WA wineries, check out Walla Walla. There is also a small area in Woodinville.

Astorm, the Espresso-tini looks delish, and thanks for the tip re K&L. Hubby and I will be in San Fran in a couple of weeks, so I'll have to check it out. My next expander fill is the day we fly out (am I crazy?), so I'll likely skip the Motrin and test out a nice California Zin or Pinot once we get there...open to suggestions for wine bars/restaurants in SF.
Have a good night everyone.

Kathy, your crud sounds very similar to mine. I am making progress though. I had gyno visit today and as fun as those are...I could use something to calm me down. Stronger than wine. He seemed to think everything was in order down under. (Sorry about the terminology Chrissy). Surgery is on standby unless something is strange, down there I mean. Other surgery for mesh/hernia tightening is on the books though. I think it will be easy one. Bean, what the hell is your avatar now? It is too small for my aged eyes to see? Did one of my tissues fly off and land on sometin'? Glad you are back. Lori, glad you are back for a brief time too. Sounds like a lot of wine tasters in here. My pocketbook mostly limits my selection. Jaybird....hope you are enjoying your scotch, and hope you don't have to get a full body scan every time you board. I don't fly enough to know Jack or squat, so it doesn't matter to me. Just lots of hype on the news about it. Junie, have you thrown out your Ouija Board yet? How about all those voodoo dolls you had packed up. I can't take any more time here other than to just say hi to everyone! See you poolside. Hunkydory

HD - you missed my rad suit and since it got cancelled I got on my nightgown - it's a sexy one inspired by Claire so that's why it looks like tissue paper - ha ha ha ha! So glad your down undie is good and an EZ surg is on the books!!!
I'm at the pool with ya'all! XXXOOO

Hi all! Just a fleeting stop by to check up on everyone. Take care all!

chrissy - thanks for the glipse of springtime... everything is brown here if the gophers haven't eaten it.
Lulubelle - my anti-anxiety med of choice is champagne.

Sounds like yesterday was frustrating for a lot of the loungies! We lost our net connection and then our cable tv for most of the day 'til after midnight--that was total trauma for me!!! DH went to grocery for a few things for dinner and was told at the door--unless you have your checkbook we can't check you out.....so, he asked if he could just pay cash.....and that stumped them for a minute. Had to call store about fridge that we've only had back for two weeks after having new compressor put in (was covered by warranty). Repairman asked DH to check out one thing--sure enough--there was a friggin ice cube hung up that was causing the problem. Appreciated that they did not send someone out on a service call and charge us--we wouldn't have had a clue what the repairman did and been grateful to pay for it being "fixed".
Today's gone better but I'm tired of sorting and tossing stuff. Heading out to the pool. Jocks--please bring me some of those yummy drinks the girls have been posting. Think I'll soak in the hot tub for a bit then head for my hammock. I hear voices--good, someone's still at the pool!!!
big HUGGGSSSSSS to ALL. And, Stanzie--I laughed out loud at your post!!!
0 -
junie, Remember when it is this late, that those voices you hear are those of us that are skinny-dipping in the pool.....LOL! Sorry you had such a crappy day yesterday, and doesn't that make you more aware of how dependant we are on technology. I go nuts too if my computer crashes or I lose internet connection....and to have the tv out too...well that just should never happen! Lucky that you didn't have a fridge repair bill! I felt so rough this am, just stayed in bed and let DH handle the ins adjustor and contractor....still have not come to an agreement on the damage $$$, so have not started on repairs here. Hope they will come up with something close to what it should be, at least. Not sure if I have a sickness or just am plain worn out....and maybe run over by your ML truck. No energy and feel rotten.
Hey....who turned on the spotlights....nothing to cover up with!!!! Oh well, at least I am not the only one in the pool right now. Working on convincing Pants and Jocks to come skinny dipping with us....but only after they refill all our drinks! Wheeeeeeeee..........

Beanie..... so going back with HD your avatar is a flying..........? At least I think I see wings, yes?
Liesl still throwing up some - Ugh have to decide today whether I try and to my Uncle's birthday celebration. My ex, was a bit daunted when I wrote out all the instructions.... at least I feel more comforable leaving her with him than my SO. He is just too strange - anytime things are stressful or are not going smoothly he just seems to know how to make them worse. Haven't slept through the night since Oct. 28th and it is wearing on me. I'd so just like a little while of everything going well. The good news is twice today when I took Liesl out she did some of those pouncing jumps while her little tail was wagging up a storm.... since she has to be upright after she drinks she will let me hold her like a baby - so sweet.
So I got this mac laptop before I had surgery and someone dropped it recently.... no one fessing up. Called an got an apt. at the apple store for 7:15pm after 45 min. still no sign of when I might be helped. Anyone ever done this? Are you just stuck waiting for hours on end? It is just as bad a car trouble I think!
This may not translate well in print but still having problems with my son's bus driver. On Monday no one shows up so I'm driving him to school and trying to entertain him as he is normally picked up at 7:40 and it is now after 9:00am. It has rained and the car is covered with leaves which he makes a comment about. Well there is one stuck on the sunroof. So I'm teasing him saying "Oh thats George, he so likes to ride up top" and stuff like that. Sean is saying things like,"MOM, it's a leaf, it can't be called George!" while laughing up a storm. We go on and on and then finally he says " Really, Mom....... think about it!" I don't know why that totally cracked me up, probably cause when he says or does things that are so "normal" it takes me off guard!
We had his big IEP meeting, and it was good. Last year, his teacher was sort of iffy on whether this was the right class for him as her students were more advanced but the class below was too below for him so we thought he was falling through the cracks. Well, today his teacher said it takes a bit to really know him, but she said she has worked with DS kids for over 35 years and she has never met anyone like Sean. He has issues that do make it hard for him to learn but she says he is amazingly bright and so wants to learn! YAY finally she understands why we pushed for him to be in her class. The other teacher (science and social studies) seemed to really "get him" as well. So finally progress on that front! And he has a new friend! His new friend is about 4 times his size and younger but we'll take that as well!
Sorry, I'm rambling as Liesl was up being sick and now is asleep but I'm up.......Does anyone else notice if you don't sleep much you gain weight?

Gosh, I can't tell if I am at some fancy wine tasting club, a gym, the bedroom, a rose garden or a hospital! I was looking for The HTL........can someone point me in the right direction! J/K of course, as I see all of my wonderful loungettes RIGHT HERE~
Kathy, aye aye aye....sorry 'bout your toe girl. I cringed when I read that. HD, you have got to be kidding me, more surgery? Is that man just trying to disect you a little piece at a time? Or are we shooting for the guiness book? Wishing you all the best hon xoxo. Glad it wasn't your tissue on Beans, LOL. Beans, sorry you had to miss your first tan. I hope you and DH didn't get too far away from home. As for the mind blowing sumpin sumpin.......not sure I can even fathom that anymore . Lulu, remind us again when it gets close to your trip to SF. Some of us may want to turn into a piece of lint and jump in your pocket! Junie, I hear ya on the fridge repair. My laptop went out while in MI. I took it to Best Buy, or Staples ... whoever has the geek squad. They turned it on, saw what it was doing and said they would need to keep it for 3-5 days and it would probably be $300. Well, I couldn't leave it. Got to my moms and called our computer guy at home, he walked me thought a couple things (just pressing a button or two) and walla...in 20 minutes it was fixed! Stanzie, glad to hear you are happy with Sean's IEP (Individual Education Plan) and that he has a new friend. But sorry that Liesl is still throwing up. Naming leaves eh? Hmmmmmmm. I never sleep much, I am up at least half a dozen times a night, if not more.
Well no time for me to look for drinks. Trying to get this other business off the ground and still maintaining our current one. We have TONS to do and lots to learn, mostly what all our shopping cart is capable of and how to do it. Plus teach this other gal that we are trying to get to work with us. She is who we are meeting this weekend. We are flying her in from Bakersfield CA. Young gal, 27. So very moldable. I think she has mostly done billing.
So I'll take any drink, maybe one of Astorms that she is making for her MOH. That is very sweet Gail! Chow for now.0 -
Lori, I was looking in vain for the HTL too......hope I stumbled into the right place here! What is this other business you are starting? Hope the new gal will work out....will she be staying with you also? I know you are SO glad to be back, and sorry to hear you will be leaving town for so many trips. I have enjoyed being home for a month and a half...sooooo unusual for us! Up until a couple of yrs ago we traveled all the time, and often had 2 out-of-country trips a month, and so many others we could never remember where we had been the week before! LOL. And now I have trouble just finding the HTL!
HD, when is the mesh repair surgery? Ya gotta let us know so we can reserve the bus, and come and join you! Actually I would like to change places with you and let your PS do lipo on me...think he would notice it wasn't you? Duh! Hope you are through with all of that, though.
Gail, I don't think I have mentioned that I love your hotdog avatar....so precious.
Stanzie, Hope you'll be able to go to the b'day celebration....might get a nights sleep too!
chrissy, Beautiful rose pics! We still are getting some gorgeous ones here, but I know that will end soon when the cold weather comes in to stay for awhile. Plus my DH got me a dz, and my DD got me a couple, and that added with what I have been cutting, makes for a very flowery kitchen! Love em though! I will also miss having the fragrant white ginger, as that has already gotten zapped from the cold snap we had. Hope you are doing well!!!
Well, fellow loungettes, hope everyone will have a nice Hump Day! I'm going to babysit and celebrate g'sons 9th b'day a bit early....to surprise him! No drinking there though...duh! You think we can have a Happy (horny?) Hump Day partay here at the HTL tonight???? Trying to get enuf energy for that. Guess we can look at a past DOTD for today? Or just pour a bunch of stuff together and see what we come up with??? Enjoy!
Hana Hou,
Kathy

Chrissy - your flowers made me smile, thank you for that!! Hope you are doing well!
Hi AStorm - are you in Seattle or what?
Junie - yes, I've been frustrated, depressed, mad as a hornet and so low energy I can hardly muster what you need to complain! How frustrating for DH at the G store! And friggin ice blockage...glad you got that fixed without an extra charge. Hope your day continues to be better! A hammock by the pool sounds like what I need too!
Wahine - oh boy, skinny dipping! I will join you for sure! I sure hope you get the agreement and $$ thing figured out, that could make you feel tired, hope you aren't getting creeping crud. I'm having such low energy myself...I don't feel sick, just tired.
Stanzie - itz a negliget (how do you spell that???) sexy nighty thingy, I will put in a bigger pic so I can show off. Maybe I'll put my rad suit back on today, but I have to wait to see if they got their power outage problems solved...sad to hear Liesl is having problems again and your X sounds like he's no help for you and darn about your son's bus driver, how frustrated you must be!!
Goldie - it's the HTL and we're all having fancy drinkie poos! Mine has a fancy umbrella in it - weeeeeeee! You sound so bizy but good to hear from you...

Stanzie - the trials and tribulations of being a parent... especially of a furbaby. I know what you mean about the inconsistency of teachers. My older daughter had mostly iffy teachers throughout school. The younger one has had better luck but every year you hold your breath. With the younger one it is the difference between a year of depression and getting C's and D's to a blissful happy year of straight-A's. Thankfully we are having one of those this year. It is much easier when they have more than one teacher (middle school? - what am I saying?) anyway, it tends to be less of an issue if they have the iffy teacher for only one class. Better odds of having at least one teacher who gets her. Although, this may not be the case with your son. My DD is very stressed by change or when things don't seem right to her - and she notices everything! Oh, and about Apple -- yes, you just wait and wait and then they tell you they can't help you with your iPod, mac, whatever, you are just screwed. That's my experience anyway. And, yeah, I think stress releases fat hormones.
Pulleeez no more surgery! I'm afraid we are going to run out of percotini for the fountain. I've been under so many times this past year it doesn't scare me anymore but it still sucks. I've started calling is "Sugary" to take the sting out. And we're going to call my lumpectomy a biopsy even if I have to go to the OR.
Beanie - only in my mind.
I'd better have some of that sparkler if I'm going to hang out with you guys!
Well... off to study the Federal tax code. The next test is the eve of Thanksgiving (and I do mean eve - 7:30PM - 11PM and then a 1 hour drive home). Oh well, at least I can relax on Thanksgiving (right!).
0 -
AStorm - then you must like wet...tee hee...yikes Fed tax code...you need a drink!!
Well, rads is back on for today unless the power goes out again, so I got my rad suit on (again) and took off my sleeping gown...got my bottle of vodka, my hammer (for just in case), and my lucky charms ...see you on the other side...
0 -
Kathie, you said you were missing the ginger, hope you like these, my SIL grows them. They are torch Ginger.
0 -
Thanks, crissy! Yes, I love all ginger....had lots of red torch ginger in Hawaii,as well as the fragrant white, a red "shampoo" ginger too (Hawaiians used it for shampoo;is really soapy like) The ones you posted look pink....are they really pink; so pretty! Here, all I have grown is the fragrant white ginger (very prolific), and we have some kahili ginger (looks like the kahili staffs the Hawaiian chiefs had). But the kahili ginger rarely blooms before frost gets it....have only had it twice. I'll try to post a pic later, but its on the other puter, and I have to leave in a minute.
Beans, good luck with your suntan today.....hope you don't get too tan from it. What is the "rad suit"? Like a swimsuit for when you are having rads? I am clueless! Hope it goes well.
TaTa to all the tatas.....gotta run!
0 -
That ginger looks beautful! I wonder if I can grow it in Maine? Probably not, I expect.
Well, I have survived day 3 of getting up at 4am, even if I didn't stumble out of bed unitl 4:20 this am! I am so tired right now, and so looking forward to the Thanksgiving break next week.
Beanie--I remember the rad days, don't come the machine is down, no, wait, its fixed get here as soon as you can, arrive an hour later (fastest I could get there), machine is down again, we'l call you if it gets back on line, oh, wait, don't leave we'll squeeze you in--those days chewed up an entire day going back and forth and happened at least twice a week.
Stanzie--I hope Leisl continues to improve! It's soo hard when our furbabies are not well. Makes me grateful that my Sadie has healed up so well.
I want to say hi to everyone, but I'm too tired to keep scrolling back and re-reading, so "HI" to everyone! I'm heading for the hot tub and a big pitcher of Anti Creeping Crud Sparkler and then a nap.

OMG - chrissy - those flowers are gorgeous!! I won't even attempt to grow those in this cold, wet, damp, soggy, moldy, gray, rainy, windy, stormy, WA coast!
wahine - my rad suit is on my new avatar - the space suit I thought would protect me from any rad damage...he he he he...thanks for the well wishes...rads was just as rad as it could be, so #1 is down and 32 to go...
NM - WOW! What a great looking hot tub...all full of big, hot, wet, cats, my fav, I'm heading there to join them with a big ol boozy DOTD...hope you catch up on sleepy time...I'm coming to realize there will be a lot of delays, still I'm hoping to done with all this by Dec 31, proly will spill into 2011. I hope next year is better than this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish I had more to complain about, but my rad day went so smoothly and all the rad staff were so nice and I really felt I was in competent hands!! Now we'll see about tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after, ad infinitum, ad nauseum....add zofran with a twist...
Cheers my dears; cHairs and rum filled eclaires...BARMEN!

Beans.....take heart. It does get better. I remember very well how much I was dragging last year. Really looking forward to celebrating Christmas.
Last year, I couldn't even take a bit of Christmas Cheer!!!! I do admit to adding extra brandy to the hard sauce for the Christmas Puddings, and taking extra tastes for "quality control" purposes.
I was out partying with the Seattle crowd last night, but will rejoin everyone at the cyber lounge in a few hours. Right now, enjoying a cuppa.
Too bad, I don't have an eclair with a rum-cream filling to have with. Sounds ever so much better than vanilla.
0 -
Chrissy, what beeeeeeeeeeutiful flowers. Especially the ginger!
NM, I hope you can catch up on your sleep over the weekend. Are those Sadie's new playmates???
Oh yum, rum filled Eclaires! So sound AWESOME Beans. Maybe DOTD should mean "Desert of the Day"! If you start feeling fatigue from your tanning, take a nap. Otherwise it will accumulate. And you will feel much better afterwards too.
LOL Claire and the extra tastes of Christmas puddings!
Kathy, the new business is that we are manufacturing! The product is bulk soakerhose. So it involves alot when you are the manufacture. We also have to find distributors and stores to sell our product. Our other business, MrDrip sells it. New business is MrSoakerhose. We just had a company do a video for Mrdrip, it needs some tweeking...but check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnLWJfCvoH8
EAT UP and BOTTOMS UP! Hope all that were feeling crappy are feeling better!

That beautiful ginger flower got me wanting some ginger brew. And this one looks like it would be appropriate for Thanksgiving...
Ginger Cranberry Cocktail (Frozen Vodka or Gin)
For Ginger syrup:
- 4-inch piece ginger, peeled and roughly chopped
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water
- Place all syrup ingredients in a saucepan and simmer until sugar dissolves and the ginger is infused in the syrup, about 20 minutes. Strain and allow to cool fully before use.
For the drink:
- 1 cup frozen cranberries
- 1 lime, juiced
- 2 cups vodka or gin
- 2 cups cranberry juice
Directions
1 cup ginger syrup, or to taste
- Splash club soda
- Shaved ginger
Crush the frozen cranberries in a large glass pitcher. Add the lime juice and their juiced wedges to the pitcher. Pour in the vodka, cranberry juice, and ginger syrup. Put ice in low-ball glasses and fill glasses about 2/3 full. Top off with club soda and garnish with a shaving of fresh ginger.
Note: Can be made without soda for a martini

Lori, thats a GRRR8 video! Very informative, and is Julie the gal that you are flying in? Love the idea of the SOLAR water timer!!! I need to hook up our soaker hoses, as DH was never convinced on how good they would be, so they sit in the garden bldg. We have underground automatic sprinkler systems, but DH hates to have them on when we are gone as it is so complicated. (Cause once I set it wrong and it stayed on most of the time, and our water here is very $$$).Your solar water timer would be good for areas when we are gone, since it shuts off if it is raining. Way to go for your second million, Lori!
Aloha kakahiaka, to my drinking buds! Wishing everyone a good day, with no sickness, well furbabies, yummy desserts, and a drink in each hand!
kathy
P.S. Gail, I was writing when you posted, so just saw your beautiful drink! Looks good tasting, and good for you, as ginger helps tummy probs (esp for overeating on turkey day!). Thanks for posting it!
