Junie, I sure wish you could get to feeling better. I would take 5' of snow for you! And if HD shares her tissues, I hope they are not used!

I hope everyone had a wonderful day. We had meatloaf, which actually turned out pretty good this time. DH just loved it.

Kathy, you know me and your diet soda, well I feel the same about decaf coffee! LOL. I am told, you would be shocked at all the chemicals they use to make it decaf! Just have the Bailey's...I'll join you!

Very cold here this morning. Got to -2 with the wind chill. Well I better get back to cleaning! Maybe tomorrow put up a few Christmas decoz.

    Happy Black Friday!

Awwwwwww.......thanks for the Irish Coffee, NM! Such a beeeeoooutiful picture. My DH drizzles green creme de menthe on top too, so its extra special. Actually Lori, I rarely have coffee at night, but that is the only time I need it to be decaf. Sleeping is more important to me than whatever chemicals might be in it...but it might be 3x a year at most, so  not too bad. Hope everyone got to sleep in today and digest all the xtra food from yesterday (at least I ate too much, thats for sure!). Junie, puleez get well....I think Pants knows a witch doctor that has some awesome potions....maybe he could fix you up? Or at least pamper you, give you a massage, etc. Sure hope today will be a better day for you!

Baa baa Black Friday, Do you have any Mool(a) Left to Spend???? Ok, ok, I just woke up, so pretty corny!!!!!

    Twirls,

Casinogirl - that was sure nice of you to pop in for Thanksgiving, hope you have a great weekend off work.

DorothyK - Hope you had a most exellent bartended Thanksgiving, BTW - cute e-card for turkey day, thanks for posting the link!

HD - I was reading your post from the 24th where it says they haven't kicked you yet, made me laugh, I don't think you deserve a kick. Gotta know if the red kept Aunt Sally away???? And how was your garbage eating turkey??? - LOL at that one.

Lulubelle - that was nice of you too to pop in with a great drink and more tribute to Swayze and Farley on SNL, what a fantastic Thanksgiving drink!

Wahine - Wanted to say how much I enjoyed that beautiful Thanksgiving e-card, so pretty and it was fun to watch it come together. I am so jealous of your 70 deg weather...it has been soooooo cold here, but last night it finally warmed up a bit...when I got up in the night to use the potty it wasn't nearly so cold...I did save you a lot of the sweet wine so I'm glad you can enjoy it with me...soooo good! Oh, your dinner last night...that couple sounds so boring...can't stand listening to monologues all about someone else I don't know, I'm so sorry that sounds awful and a dry house too...glad you got home and I just hate those weird holidays...hope today is much better...so nice of NM to beam in an Irish Coffee for you and I'm having some this morning, it is yummy.

Chrissy - hope you get more time on the Internet to pop in while you're gone...we saw another Internet show about long haul truckers in Australia last night - the whole place looks so beautiful...hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Goldie - Did you get your meatloaf to look like a turkey? Glad to hear Jaybird got home safely, whew, what a trip it sounds like...so glad your meatloaf turned out well and hope you stay warm there...Happy Cleaning and Black Friday to you!

Claire - that was sure nice of you to walk your neighbor's doggy...I don't know what a Satsuma is and never heard of turbinado sugar, you have some cool stuff going on...my oldest sis always insists on making sauce and not using canned stuff...it is better, but for some reason I love the canned stuff, maybe the memories...I was so busy yesterday I didn't get out for a jog, will have to do something today as I feel like I put on ten pounds last night. The Gewurtz was really great and I was able to sip for quite a while - yeah!!! I think I drank ¼ bottle...I don't think I'm ‘posta drink that much, but DH was drinking merlot and that sweet wine was so nice, so I just kept refilling my wine glass with a hens egg more, then another hens egg more...

Raincitygirl - is it still snowing over there? I have to get in for tx on Tues...I'm so hoping this weather will permit us to get there I really don't want to put off any longer. I'm getting so spoiled feeling so good...aaarrrggghhh! Dreading Tues and 2 more weeks...oh well, somehow will get this done. If weather looks bad I think we'll drive over Monday during non-traffic hours and get a motel somewhere...more $$$ and time!

Thanksgiving went better than the previous night...I had all this stuff planned but then forgot about the cranberry sauce and german red cabbage...yes, chemo brain is still a big issue...I did get the bread pudding made and it was soooo good, talk about comfort food. I had found this Amish recipe in the Internet and made it once before.

Junie - hope you're feeling better and that those scratch offs were worth the trip - LOL at your exploded hemmroid turkey...sometimes home cooked comes out weird. My chemo brain got on a peel-and-cut-up-potato thing and I ended up with this enormous pot of mashed potatoes (thank God DH did the mashing), I think it's big enough to last this decade, at least, for the two of us. Unfortunately the brain only figured a small amount of gravy which is nearly gone, many things are off-balance lately...thanks for the drinks, Jocks n Pants did a great job - weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! (You get well quick! And keep us posted on the biopsy.)

Cheers and Happy Black Friday - shop away and don't forget your dog beers!

A bit green around the edges this AM as seem to have an overnight visit from the tummy bug that's going around.  So tea and a leftover roll as am hungry.  Unusual, the AM after Thanksgiving.

Dinner was just the most fun.  Had a blast and was fun sharing cycling/bad weather stories.

I am trying to get myself together for 9AM hair trim.  I think I am OK, so need to do it.

Will join all of you later.  Think another cuppa will help immensely.  Then will visit resale shop as they are having a one-day sale, and I just had a pair of fave trousers self-destruct.

Feel like sleeping in, not going anywhere today. - Claire

Claire - glad you had fun and happy trim! (I can't wait to feel safe enuf for a trim, that all my hair won't just fall out if someone touches it!!)

I HAVE A QUESTION: If weather permits...I will be finishing my chemo and seeing my oncologist for my last effing FU on Dec 7...my oncologist and her nurse have been so super fantastic that I want to give them some kind of gift...I was thinking about chocolates, but they both look fit and slim and like they eat really healthy, so I just am drawing a chemo brain blank...I really want to do somthing to show appreciation but what to do, what to do??? Does anyone have a good idea??? Thanks for your help.

AStorm - where are you? did you survive the exam??? Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Come back and find that Stanzie chick too...

Beans - the weather and roads are now back to normal.  If for some reason you do need to come early and want a place to hang your hat, I have a house plenty big enough and am more than happy to open the door to someone fun.

As for a gift.....I wouldn't worry about how trim they look.  They are, after all, human and must indulge on occasion.  Besides, it is the thought that counts.

    Hi Guys!!!!

Happy belated Birthday Beanie!!! Happy belated Turkey Day too!

I have been caring for Liesl ( my precious furbaby dachsund who is still very sick). Haven't been on the computer as she is up most nights and so am I. I thought we were finally turning a corner but no luck. She doesn't have the esophagus disease that fixes itself so the feeding tube that was put in will be permanent. So struggling with whether she still has quality of life or not. Very hard and I've been a total wreck. Had the tube put in when we thought it would only be temporary. She seemed to perk up a lot and do better then the site got infected and she was at the doctors for an entire day as as they didn't know if she would need anesthesia she wasn't given food or water and that has set her back considerably, that with the news she won't eat again..... seems cruel. But on the other hand.....

So that is why I've been AOL.  On the lighter side made my second Thanksgiving dinner ever. OK, I think the raw birds are just horrifyingly gross! Especially on little sleep. So it took me the first washing to find the neck. washed it and prepped it and wrapped it up ready for the oven when I worried I didn't wash it well enought that is when I found the back end cavity with the other icky package! Well, at least I found it! Ugh, don't know if I can do that again. It actually turned out beautiful but UHG I really don't like the raw poor bird - makes me understand vegitarians totally. However I did make some lovely Gran Marnier Chocolate Mousse!

Missed you all! Love all the pictures and all the fun!

One last thing... continuing my water woes - my fault again!!! Went to winterize my well and for some reason got confused and turned it off but then turned on the city water!! So for days and days city water has been gushing.... gosh can't wait for that bill!

Would comment on things but goodness you all have been busy! will try and catch up and get to know all the new loungettes! It is raining here and have set a fire for tonight! Looking forward to doing nothing other than snuggling with my bebe Liesl and my real kids! Happy Friday!!!!

    Hey girls,

I am just stopping by to say hello.  I am having such a hard time getting photos in here.  When I preview, the links pop up then disappear into cyber space.  I had some great pics too.

I trust all had a great Thanksgiving.

Stanzie, I am so very sorry to hear that your lil doggy is having such a hard time, breaks my heart.  I have three little dachunds and love them to death.  I sure hope your little Liesl feels better soon and can somehow enjoy life. One of mine is going to be 14 in December and is getting difficult to watch as he goes down hill.  I feel your pain.

Junie, I sure hope you feel better.  Perhaps you can join me a bit later at the HTL for some drinks, even if you just sip ginger ale. I am sure that Pants will take good care of you. I am heading out now for a massage but plan on returning later. I hear the bar is again fully stocked.  I think we put a huge dent in the inventory after yesterday.  I feel so damn bloated.

Is there anyone here that has done the alloderm thing? I am reading so many posts about issues with it and want to be assured that mine is "taking". I am still in alot of pain, it has been three weeks today since I got my 2nd set of TE's. They are a bit red but oh so sore underneath and in the middle.

To all, Happy black Friday.  Beans and Kath, my IT experts, any other suggestions as to how to remedy the pic posting thing here? I had it going fine then walaa, my pics are just disappearing.  It sure takes away from the fun things I have in mind!

Peace n love to all and TITS UP!

    Cheers, my breast friends!! Cool

Hi Dorothy! So sorry to hear of your continued pain. My exch surgery was over 2 yrs ago and it seemed then that the pain was bad for awhile, but that was awhile ago, and since I have had no pain for such a long time, I really can't remember how long it lasted. Since this is your 2nd set, might be good to let the dr or nurse know and ask them if that is normal. As for posting pics, you can't take them from your own photos without posting them into an online acct (like photobucket), I think. When I click to copy an online pic of a pic I have saved or found on photobucket, then I can just click to paste it into my post (a little window pops up to allow access). I hope that helps, and apparently it is better to use IE? Not sure about that, but hope you can post pics soon!

Stanzie, I was so worried that it WAS because of Liesl that you weren't posting. So sorry to hear that she has not improved....I can imagine how your heart is breaking to see her like that. Only you and her vet can decide what quality of life she is having, and I think you will know in your heart if its her time or not. I hope your family is able to bring you comfort while you go through this sad, sad time. But please realize you have given her as wonderful a life as the joy she has brought into your life....I know she could not have had a better home than with you. So I am sure she feels the love you are giving her now, and have always given to her. (((HUGS)))

    Take care everyone! ChEARS,

    Kathy

Gosh, I missed 4 pages worth of goodies! Thanks for the cookies, Beanie! Didn't watch Dancing with the Stars after Brandi got voted off. My silent little protest. Ok, well I had to study anyway but I'm glad Jennifer won. That mimosa fountain reminds me of a wedding I went to many years ago that had a "champagne" fountain filled with what was obviously inexpensive sparkling wine. There was an "after-party" at a friend's house where I woke up on the floor with his roommates looking up my dress which was admittedly hoisted a bit higher than before I drank the plonk. Didn't drink anything sparkling for a lonnnng time and now I only drink Champagne.

Had a lovely Thanksgiving with DH, our girls and an old friend. Veuve Clicquot (I'm a big fan of the widow) with appies, a nice local Pinot Noir with the main meal and a lovely port our friend brought with pie. Spent the whole morning cooking with my youngest and listening to Ella. It was so nice to spend some quality time with family... I've been pretty much absent for the past few weeks while I studied. The exam went well, I hope, and I was home by 10PM (I had projected midnight so that was early).

Here is the drink I served my friend who likes sweet drinks and isn't sure about champagne.

    Blissini

     Picture of Blissini Recipe

    Ingredients

    • 1 1/2 cups Prosecco, chilled
    • 1 1/2 cups orange juice, chilled
    • 1 1/2 cups pomegranate juice, chilled
    • Mint leaves, for garnish

    Directions

Combine the Prosecco, orange juice, and pomegranate juice and pour into 4 Champagne glasses. Garnish with mint leaves and serve.

There are too many pies so I'm bringing a few to the HTL to share.

Stanzie...awww....so sorry about your poor little Liesl.  I don't know how to make it any less difficult for you.  I know that is so very hard.  Glad you came back on to let us know how you are.  Also glad you had a good dinner even though you struggled with the innards of the turkey.  Our gobbler turned out quite wonderful....and I am glad we went the free range route.  Sorry too about my joke about garbage eating turkeys.  Hope I didn't offend anyone.  I had a lot of tasty wines and and my side dishes turned out well.  I am tired today though so feel like a soak in the hot tub.  Sorry for you gals in the pacific northwest that get stalled in these winter storms.  Especially when it delays your treatments.  I am going to be the first to hit the bar tonight.  P.S.  Also sorry Kathy about your crimson tide!  HD

I got my breast surgeon wine last Christmas.  Got her into a ton of trouble as no one else in her group got wine from a patient.  I will get her another bottle this year.

Still moving at a slow pace.  Just had some chai with cream and honey.

I think you are safe with chocolates.  I usually meet with my oncology study nurse in the kitchen area, and you wouldn't believe the food that's often out there.  My first oncologist regularly supplied donuts to everyone.  It is true, however, that I was more buff than he.

My slow pace wasn't slow enough today to keep me out of the resale shop where I did some restocking of basics.  I replaced the pants that bit the dust earlier this week, found a vintage YSL blazer that looks beyond fab on me, and bought a cashmere turtleneck.  It is hard to believe that, with all the black sweaters in my wardrobe, I didn't have that basic.

I wore a really warm sweater to my hair appointment.  I had suspected it would be chilly, and it was as pellet stove is the heat there, and they had just fired it up.  Nice though to have a cup of jasmine tea seated next to it.

So sorry about Liesl.  This is sounding like it isn't much fun for her.

On a brighter note, I am looking forward to skiing on Sunday.  Should be fresh snow in Snoqualmie Pass so plan to go there with a friend.  I am expecting my tummy to be much better by then.  Looks like it might be de-iced enough around here for a ride tomorrow.  Not too badly off as have walked about three miles yesterday and again today.

(I am passing on wine this evening unless I feel a LOT better.)

Beanie -  German red cabbage - YUM!  I am from a small town that celebrates Okoberfest, which is ironic.  My Octobers were once full of beer, sausage, sauerkraut...now October is pink, pink, more pink, I think next year I will go back "home" and trade my pink feather boa for an Oktoberfest hat (with a pink feather?)

But I digress....love the red cabbage!  Although my hubby finds it, um, er, well, "explosive".

Hope you feel better soon Junie, and here's to a nice red fending off Aunt Sally for HD...lol

Claire, your cran/satsuma sauce sounds divine, and NM love the Royal Turkey, I clink my glass to you, Wahine, AStorm, Goldie, Stanzie, Rain City Girl, BonnieK, Chrissy, Casino Girl, DorothyK (girl, hope your tender is treating you well tonight!)....and a big Happy Thanks to anyone I have missed...Embarassed

Well, a belated Happy Thanksgiving to all! I read every few days but rarely seem to have the time to post lately!

Our Turkey Day was quiet. Thankfully. :) Avery and I went to see my dad & step-mother.

The blown engine incident once again reaffirmed my belief that I am here for the long-haul despite the occasional road blocks (like BC!) put in my way. Wicked Wahine, thanks for your condern. I think that if Leo hadn't been on board it would have been less 'fun and exciting'! lol.

Cheers!  and chairs!  and tits up to all!

God morning, Loungettes!  Today is my Thankgiving celebration at my Mom's.  Going to head over there in a little while with a couple bottles of the wines I've made this year to see how the family likes them.  Did some work yesterday (visiting nurse) so I was on the road during the icky weather.  I irritated a LOT of people by driving 45 on the interstate when the speed limit was dropped to that level.  I've got to admit that I find a little pleasure in seeing the yahoos who speed past me sitting in the ditch a few miles down the road!  Fortunately, there were no serious injuries anywhere yesterday.  I wonder if these people saved enough money on their Black Friday shopping trips to pay for the tow trucks and body work thier cars need now.

Here's an idea for the DOTD:

Call of the Snowfields (Lumikenttien Kutsu)

    2 cl Parfait Amour
2 cl Lapponia Lakka Cloudberry Liqueur
    2 cl Cream
    2 cl Pineapple Juice
    (grated) Nutmeg

I have no idea what most of this stuff is, but it looks wonderful!

Kathy, you know I am teasing you about the decaf. I couldn't drink coffee at night either, or anything with caffeine in it, for that matter.

HD, you def. found the perfect picture for that one......HILARIOUS! And I love the added touches to it!

Dorothy, Kathy is right. You can't take pictures from your computer. They have to be online. If they are pictures that you did on your computer, then you have to save them to a sight like photobucket, then put them in. I get the "allow access" screen twice. Are you getting that D? Its a pop up, so maybe you pop ups blocked, and since you are not able to "allow" maybe that is why??? I have also been successful grabbing pictures from facebook and just copy and paste those. You did it once......you CAN DO IT AGAIN!

Claire, I hope you are feeling better and were able to make it for that trim.

Stanzie, glad you checked in and so sorry to hear about Liesl. But I have to admit; I did chuckle about the bird.

Oh my Astorm.....blushing as I read your story about the PLONK! LOL

    Lulu, how about a pinktoberfest?

NM, I sooooooo agree with you on the motorists driving like idiots or too fast (weather permitting or not) But of course, we don't want any injuries. As for the DOTD, I don't know what's in most of them, this one either! But couldn't agree with you more, it looks scrumptious! Which wines are you taking? I wish we all could have a sample L

I have gotten most of my cleaning done. Gonna try and get some Holiday decos up!

Will be bellying up to the bar all day, in and out, now and again, you know what I mean?

I am fine now.  YAY!!!  Had a normal dinner, even wine.

Have a phone meeting in a few with my former business partner to help her with LinkedIn.  Then a ride as ice has melted.  I realized last night that I can make a yummy turkey pie with the leftovers I was sent home with.  Trader Joe's has frozen peeled pearl onions, so eliminates the worst task.

I will need to burn off those calories in advance.

Mainer.....I know what you mean about seeing people in the ditch and feeling they deserved it.  Will never forget a Thanksgiving I drove from White River Junction VT to Deerfield MA in about a foot of wet snow.  The road speed was 55, and too fast for the conditions.  This was one of those occasions when I got to really love my Subaru.  In WA state, they do chain enforcement.  That is, you don't go over the passes w/o chains if you don't have AWD.

I am hoping that my friend Jim and I aren't the first to have the idea of skiing on the Iron Horse Trail tomorrow.  Breaking trail is the pits, although marvelous exercise.  I am more amazed that he wants to ski with me as his back was just fine until.......

I need more tea to wake up, and get rolling today.  Hoping for some sunshine, but will take no rain.

Trimmed hair looks wonderful BTW.  Much an actual style as opposed to "growing out".  Can't wait for a few more inches.  Happy Saturday Loungettes......and watch out for those sales.

Lulu, great hat, I want one!

Goldie, I know that the pics have to be from the net, I still am failing at getting them up here.  I did switch to internet explorer and they were posting fine and now they just again go to cyberspace.  I dunno, I have a computer science degree from the ice ages (1982) so that was lonnnnnng before PC's came into the picture. I can usually figure this kind of thing out.

Well out of pure frustration, I am going to the lounge for a shot or two of JD, oh yeah, taking it straight up, cheers.

Mainer, I had to chuckle over your comment about the crazy driving and you find a bit o joy in seeing them in the ditch, it is wrong but funny as can be.  I enjoy seeing those knucke-heads with a cop car behind them but have not seen them in a ditch....probably because I stay home when the roads are that bad.

To all, enjoy your day and hope to meet up again at the lounge.  I have it to myself for now. Watch out, I  M working hard at getting Pants to come home with me, I need a personal bartender for sure and I am being especially ballsy as I am under the influence of pain killers!

    Peace n lots of luv!

NM that looks great but I don't want to go shopping so I'll just ask Pants to bring me a couple of those.

Stanzie - glad to hear from you but not good news, I'm sorry. Hugs to you and Liesl.

Well it's raining again on the west coast but I guess some of us have snow which sounds really exciting... until about January when you are sick of it. Rain gets old almost immediately though. DD wants to go to San Francisco for the day but I don't think it will be as much fun in the rain... maybe another movie day. Yesterday we saw Love & Other Drugs.

Well I have a house full of teens as usual, so I'm going to make some breakfast now.

Morning lounge lizards!    Brrrrry cold here this morning but s'posed to warm up later.   DH took off for St Louis yesterday for the birth of his 2nd grandchild (first grandson for him--collectively brings us up to Number NINE, with Number TEN due in Feb!)   Pancho went to "camp" as no way I felt able to deal with him by myself.    We were worried about me feeling so bad and no one here, but I am taking it easy and enjoying having the tv all to myself.   Think I will go see if I can stand up long enough to grab a quick shower and get dressed--tired of wearing pj's!

THEN--heading to the HTL for the rest of the day!   Gettin' a little gamblin' itch, so will stop in the casino first.   Hope to see you all in the bar later.   I'll end up in my hammock out at the pool, so come chat with me in a little while!!!

OOh I think it worked! This was the Coconut Bar where I went on my honeymoon many many years ago! It is a tiny island where you do swim up to the bar. The island is just a tiny hill dotted with small cottages and they own the big rock behind it where they have an island cookout and the trail all the way up is lit with fire torches. It is called Young Island. Fabulous place but terribly difficult to get to. There was a huge hurricaine  which wiped out most of the island so nice to see they rebuilt.
