how about drinking?

Junie,
Just read about your trip to the Er. Very scary - My cousin also had a terrible reaction to the same drug! I think that sounds like one to avoid all together! Glad you are alright and hope the lung test is normal. We don't need more to worry about.
Anyone seen any good movies? Cleaned and organized the panty, cleaned and organized the big medicine cabinet, cleaned gutters with my kids help and am avoiding laundry..... It is finally cold here. Oh I bought one of those logs in a bag can I use it to supplement real logs or will I blow myself up? Just wondering....

Beautiful pic, Stanzie! Soooo inviting....maybe we can add that view to OUR beach at the HTL! And the beach swim up bar too.....will go along nicely with the swim up bar in the pool. You asked about movies....I saw "The Last Airbender" today and really enjoyed it....had rented 3 yesterday that had to be returned today. If you still can't find anything to do, we have gutters that need cleaning too....hint, hint...LOL. Speaking of typing errors, I LOVE the one in your post about how you "Cleaned and Organized the Panty"! Gave me a giggle anyway. Right now I am tired too....caulked outside, went thru some clothes to get rid of, organizing stuff, and just started making turkey soup. Last good weather b4 our trip might be tomorrow, and I have a bit of outside painting to do then.
Enjoyed all the other posts.....I laugh as I read them, and then when they are on past pages, I never remember enough to respond to all. Junie, hope you are feeling MUCH better today! And hope everyone else is having a good weekend (very LONG weekend for you, HD!). Careful if there is any snow/ice left on the roads!
TITS UP!
Kathy

Hi Beans! Hope things are going well, and looking forward to your ketching up!

I took Strawberry Reisling, Pineapple and Mint wines over today. To my surprise my mom like the mint best! I thought it would be too sweet for her taste. Her BF liked the Pineapple better. It was fun tasting the wines with the Ritz & clam dip and Cheetos my brother and his wife brought for hor d'eurves.

NM, Maybe next time you should bring the appetizers too! Your wines sound sooooo neat, and that was really special that you were able to take some to share. But funny to have them with cheetos....lol. Bet you had a nice evening with everyone!

Kathy - as for the typ0 - ummm whoops! But funny, wish I had meant it!
NM - wow what interesting wines - you amaze me all the time, interesting funny come backs to nursing advice and wisdom to wines and oh gosh what else..... just wonderful - love your posts
!So tired and am finishing a movie with the kids then off to bed I hope!!!

Ok, finally got this picture thing down. It took me awhile and I am not even blond! Now I can go and drink, I think I need a straw tonight to celebrate this accomplishment! Aren't the girls girls' adorable? I am thinking I want to look like her.
Well I am off for a swim then am going to soak my tired tatties in the hot tub with Pants and my Jack. (Please don't tell management that Pants is slacking again, it is slow tonight, he was bored so he is keeping me companyhere)....

off to the hot tub with my man, uhhh I mean our man!! oh baby!
0 -
Dorothy.....Not my type, but that's just fine, as some of those Firemen are!!!! I wouldn't want a major fight to break out over the "man availability", would I???
Boring day. Helped out my former business partner with her LinkedIn profile. Then a long ride in the drizzle. Was actually warm and toasty, and I feel ever so much better. Then more LinkedIn work. (I am getting too good at this.)
TURKEY PIE is in the oven. Had just enough turkey to make one. (Took some home the other night.) Used chicken broth, but I think a bit of sherry, tarragon, and heavy cream should fix any "thinness of flavor". Ditto on putting egg yolk on the store-bought puff pastry.
Having a glass of wine right now. Can't wait for the pie. Think I like even better than the roasted bird.

I'm feeling grumpy tonight so going to fuss! Claire--you post the most tantalizing descriptions of what you're fixing for dinner.....when you get time, please PM me your recipe for the Turkey Pie--gotta be more than turkey and puff pastry going on there! Just remember that I claim Adult ADD; chemo brain; lots of other things, so need details! LOL!!!
Stanzie, was realllllly bored this afternoon and I THINK I watched a freebie movie on our cable's On Demand channel....."Right At Your Door"....not great acting but kept my attention and one of those things you think about after.....I need to check out this On Demand thing--saw a pay for movie that I've been wanting to see....
Glad to see new loungies posting!!! I've spent the evening in my hammock with Jocks and Pants being soooo attentive (think they're worried about the pics posted of other gorgeous hunks...) ..........was going to spend the night swaying in the hammock, but have headed back into the bar to see who's there!
big HUGGGZZZZZZ to ALL.....bottomz up; cheerz; cHairz; Earsz.....

Hi girls!!!
Well, I went out tonight and had 2 of these lemonade Jack drinks. I decided they were not strong enough, so I ordered a shot of Jack to sip and pour into my drink. My hubby's friends were rather impressed. I haven't had hardly anything to drink since chemo and I never got buzzed. Can you believe that? Maybe chemo caused my alcohol tolerance to be higher??? LOL!!!
I hope all is well! Sounds like you all have been having fun with the photos. I love it!!!
DorothyK - my mom's name is Dorothy Kay. How funny is that?
Cheers!!! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!!!

Yesterday was fun, more fun with freinds after church today is the plan.
kittykat--I never heard of chemo making someone's alcohol tolerance higher, but after processing all that chemical insult your system is probably VERY efficient!
junie--hope you got over the grumpies, although it is occasionally fun to let loose when you feel that way.
claire--my Mom had a big turkey cut in half and made 2 Thanksgiving dinners, one Thursday and one yesterday. Kind of interesting, but not much in the way of leftovers. So no turkey to use to make Turkey pie and I really wanted to try that! Oh well, I can always get some turkey from the market.
Right now I've got cranberry wine and fennel wine "cooking" in the laundry room. Makes the laundry room smell a bit odd at times, but so much fun! Going to make more mint wine next summer, but cut back on the sugar, this batch was just a tad too sweet. That might get better as it ages, but I'm not counting on it. It's now classified as a dessert wine, to be taken in small amounts so the sweetness doesn't get cloying.
Let's see, what would be a good DOTD for today? Hmmmm.
How about a Lazy Sunday?
1 1/2 oz Tequila
2.5 oz Cranberry juice
1 oz Ginger Ale0 -
Not sure why the pic ended up on top of the writing instead of under it where I thought I was putting it. Oh, well. Technology 1, me 0.

Good morning breast friends,
I had a nice time at the HTL last evening. Claire, I did not mean to stir up anything in taking Pants to the hot tub, I was waiting for you all to join me!
KittyKat, wtg with the Jack although I am disappointed in JD for not getting you buzzed. I am glad you impressed your people though lol. And funny that your Mom is Dorothy Kay! Most people have a grandmom named Dorothy...I am patiently waiting for the name to get modern again. Oh well, I am a patient lady, thank God!
I got a note from ChrissyB, she will be joining us at the lounge after she gets some rest, I sure miss my fav loungette!
For all, come and join me for some eggs benedict, I made them myself and there is enough for everyone! I am having breakfast and some hot coffee on this brisk Sunday. Make it a great day, friends. Peace and lots of love to each of you!! ♥♥

I am bailing on the skiing idea as they promise rain in the pass plus lots of holiday traffic. So next weekend when things are quieter. So I will do a group ride instead as promise here is for sunshine. Missed church as dragging this AM. Think left over from the virus.
Jonesing right now for an Eggs Benedict. I was wondering if the new Creole place around here (Toulouse Petit) makes a good one. They certainly make breakfasts which will make you unable to move for the remainder of the day!!
Anyway, I think at least an even ratio of driving to fun stuff is the better idea. Plus I avoid the Seattle Marathon festivities. Works for me.
Reminder to get wine on the way back as only have really expensive stuff in the house.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I had one of the best I've had in years. My nephew, his wife and 2 kids from New Orleans surprised us and showed up to visit on Thanksgiving. Then on Friday got together with about 10 old friends (we go back 25+ years) for dinner and drinks. So funny - we used to close down the bars on a regular basis. Fri night I think we left the restaurant at 9:30 and everyone was going home for the night.
Being very lazy today...I need to get up and do some chores, but it appears the couch is glued to my ass.....
Junie - you better take care of yourself girl - you hear me? Yes, take it easy today, do a little gambling, and hang at the HTL :-)
Cheers,
Donna

I finished making Turkey soup and even my kids think it turned out great! Yay! My son pulled out the outdoor Christmas decorations but no energy to actually hang them and it is awfully cold today. Will light a fire and watch a movie tonight!
The turkey pie sounds great! I had thought about making turkey hash but wasn't as interested in potatoes and my daughter ate up the last of the carrotts making a bunny movie/song about prepositions. Kind of odd but creative. Wish she had gone the extra mile and had the song actually make sense but perhaps for a 12 year old that is asking too much. My daughter and I just butt heads non-stop and always have...

Kittycat - I noticed a few years ago that when I drink too much tend to purge and I feel really bad the next day. Maybe you used up all your purges?
NM - I think I had too many Lazy Sundays and my ars is stuck to Donna's couch.
Donna - don't fight the couch!
Claire - Did you find your Eggs Benedict? Your foodie posts always get me thinking about dinner. I'm making some turkey soup... my kids love this soup with wild rice and cream but now one of them is a vegetarian. Last night I made a bean and pasta soup with sausage and I ended up making two separate batches at the same time so that one could have sausage and the other not. Don't know how I would do that with the turkey soup - turkey-free turkey soup?

Oooooo I'm missing so much fun - been workin, dang...I miss you all and hope to be back Mondeeee - Love n hugs
PS. Raincitygirl - if you is starting tamari, I'm right behind ya Tues. Let's have fun CMF style!!! (blechhh!!) ha ha ha ha ha

Gail....no, I had 2 slices of pizza instead during lunch break of the 35 mile group ride I did. No time for a leisurely anything as you have to capture whatever daylight is available. I can tell I am ready for the tub, and thrilled to have dinner ready to go. (I decided not to worry about pizza and turkey pie on the same day.)
I had to do a wine run to Safeway, and realized that this would be a good time to stock up. My wine rack should be arriving any moment, so a good excuse to test it
I noticed today that my legs appear to be getting stronger as easier to get going after stops on my bicycle. I was having some problems earlier in the year, and I think from Taxol. So looks like this is coming back.
Work has started. Got an email earlier today with some stuff to do. So no longer feel guilty about taking time for myself last week while I had the chance. They are really busy so they need my help. I am so thrilled to be busy.
Anyway, will be joining you in a while. Have some stuff I need to do, then dinner and an early evening. - Claire

Hi Ladies,
I thought I'd stop by before retiring for the evening. It has been quite a nice weekend of friends, family, food and alot of laughs.
I get my second fill tomorrow and can't wait. It has been a long process for me due to complications and infection but I think I am finally on my way. I am then going to Atlantic City here in NJ overnight tomorrow with my DH. I am excited about the trip. I will have my PC with me and perhaps even post pics, not that I know how.
Clair, is that 35 miles on a bicycle? If so, very impressive. I am glad that you are able to get out and enjoy the fresh air while giving your body a great workout. I used to bike ride but can't balance due to issues with vertigo but I definately need to start taking walks. I just wish I could find the motivation (hint hint)....if anyone is willing to coach me, I would reciprocate some way. I have been so darn lazy since my bmx.
Beans, nice to see you, I missed you and my guess is that others have too, you are loads of fun and I feel the added love when you are around.
Astorm, love the picture, is this your lil pooch? I just may put a pic of my little wiener dogs up here, they are my little fur babies. The pic I have up now is of my 19 year old real baby girl. Jessica.
NM, I like your avitar pic as well, I love Maxine!
KittyKat, I am sending you a pitcher of JD with one can of coke, that should get you a buzz going ... cheers! Or what was that word you all use, ChEARS (?). I was told what that means but having killed so many brain cells in the last week here at the lounge, I uhh, forget.
And Donna, hello, nice to meet you. I am a newbie. <<<<<thinking..hmmmm,I wonder how long I have to be a newbie, do they have a test or initiation)>>>>>>>
Stanzie, all this turkey soup talk is making me think that it is time to make soup, sounds DElish!
To all, I hope your TG weekend was as nice as mine. I certainly have so much to be thankful for and bc.org is a new one! I thank you all for having me. Have a great night and an even better week.
Peace n love! And tits up
(picture is me, ain't they pretty. Don't mind the zit of my face, sorry!)..... G'night, friends.

I can't believe it's not even 8PM here it has been dark sooooo long. Last night I was in bed before 9 and DH came in and asked if I was okay. I thought it was bedtime. LOL. Good for you, Claire, getting in a ride while the sun is out. I'd say you more than earned your slices! I went for a long walk today with DH and WD (Wiener Dog, and yes that is his dog-in-a-bun costume) but for some reason he is still full of energy (WD, not DH).

Beans - yup tamari is the day to embrace that CMF for the next two weeks and oh, just can't wait for the caca pills. Chemo is my friend. Chemo is my co-warrior.
ARGH! Jocks, Pants - get over here and take care of me. I need a drink, a massage, some chocolate, and well, you know

good luck raincitygirl. We'll make sure Jocks and Pants are on duty.

Love the avatar Astrom Is that the horrible dog of concern in the neighborhood?
Is marriageyouwanna offered here at the HTL?
0 -
Yup, he's the perpetrator. We even taught him to ring a bell to go outside so he wouldn't bark at the door! The cats and the corgi are pretty obnoxious too. The cats don't usually bark but they do talk a lot. Maybe we should have gotten fish instead?

The secret Dorothy to getting in a walk is to take the position that you might as well be dragging and exercised as opposed to just dragging.
Then, it's really helpful to come out of chemo with your basic fitness intact. I cycled throughout and did a minimum of weights/crunches plus a one mile walk every day. I was extreme, but I did prove it can be done.
So my "prep for chemo" stuff was a bright cycling jacket and lights, bath potions to warm up afterwards and soak my sore body, and new tires for my car.
Off to bed now. Really mellow from the red wine and all the outdoor exercise. To say nothing of the bath and being in my cashmere sweats. Only have enough leftover Turkey Pie for lunch. Ate two huge portions tonight. YUM!!!!
But feel virtuous as even got out a piece of work prior to eating the pie. - Claire

Dorothyk - thanks for the pitcher of JD. You'll be glad to know that I shared a bottle of red wine with my husband tonight and felt a little loopy on my 2nd glass of wine. LOL! Love the pic of the tatas. You look great for only being your 2nd fill. How many fills will you get??? I started at 150 cc's and ended up with 550 cc's.
Happy Sunday everyone!!! CHAIRS!!!
