Joining you in the lounge, Chrissy! Hmmmmmm.....now what shall we drink? I know you want something cold cause it is hot there, and I want something cold cause of hot flashes! Hope the others will join us too. Maybe we can try our luck in the casino too.....looks empty right now and those machines look like they are ready to pay out big time. Ciao!

Hi all - I'm late as usual so a quick pop in question. Is one's canservary ( oh rats can't spell) they day one got diagnosed or the day one had surgery? Thanks now I'm off......
0 -
I don't celebrate the day I got diagnosed as I was quite sure going in what the issue was. So I went to get help.
I did have a global virtual wine party on the day of my surgery to celebrate my new life. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I suspect I will also celebrate May 1 2015 (not that anyone's counting) as it will be the day I am done with anastrazole. I certainly celebrated the end of chemo.
I am sooooooo dragging this AM and I have a meeting in a few hours. As for how do I find time, I haven't forgotten the days I commuted into the Wall Street area in NY and traveled 2 hours each way. So up at quarter to five, and usually not home to 7 or 8 pm. Then cook dinner. I don't miss those commutes.
Anyway, back to work. Thinking about Junie, and thankful she is past the worst. - Claire

Stanzie, I chose to count the day of my dx as my "cancerversary", as others on some of the other threads do also. Since finding out the dx, every day after being aware of that, is a "survival day". So, for me I count the day I got "the call". I guess you could use whichever day is most important to you. That was an amazing story about your friend drinking and then stitching up herself!! Wow. Although I have to admit those shots he gave me to numb the finger hurt like hell!!! Esp the one he stuck waaaaay down into the wound, OUCH!!!! Maybe using likker would have been better...LOL. Hope you didn't get any ice! Hugs, Kathy

Did anyone catch the news today about implants & a rare form of breast cancer? My Dh just got home and had heard it on the radio, and I searched for the article. Here is the link: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/CancerPreventionAndTreatment/wireStory?id=12767628
There would have to be more studies, but boy doesn't that just suck! No difference betwn cases of this rare cancer with/without previous bc. OK, need to drink big time tonight! Don't like being the bearer of bad news, but good to be aware of whats going on.
Are we all going to have Happy Hour at the HTL today? Maybe we'll use EST so we can drink earlier....LOL.

Kathy, very interesting article. I am glad you shared this as it reminds me the importance of "rotating" my new implants. The doc told me it is to prevent scar tissue from forming around them. It really hurts to do it and I have gotten sloppy with it. That is also the reason for doing the jumping jacks, I think I told ya that. Thanks for sharing that and thanks to DH too for telling ya!
I am going to walk to the HTL, escape the snow/rain/ice and have a drink with ya. And I can wait for my west coasties and party more with them. Don't mind me as it appears I am playing with my boobs again n it seems to get worse as I drink more. I hope I can keep my hands off them in the workplace, yikes. Cheerz,WAhine, dwink up !!

LOL Dorothy! Just can't keep your hands off yourself, huh???? So funny! Oh, I didn't realize that was the reason for the jumping jacks. And interesting that your dr wants you to "rotate" them. I didn't get those instructions. Hope it helps! My PS had me take an antibiotic b4 each fill, which I hadn't heard of others doing. Interesting how our drs have so many differing ideas! OK, I am dwinking with ya......Seagrams/Diet Coke for me....Jack Daniels for you? Drink up!
Oh, this is funny. First time I have kept the dressing off my finger....so there are black stitches with tails on them....when I glance down at my hand it scares me for a second as it looks like a black spider there! Yucko.

Good evening, Loungettes! Sorry to have been MIA, had several very long and difficult days at work and just too tired to even read through all the postings when I got a few minutes to myself. The semester is finally getting underway and the list of problems is shrinking as solutions get found. Things are settingly down, thank heaven!
The Lemon drink sounds quite yummy! I think I want to load up my water bottle with that for the long day tomorrow. Our little secret for maintaining calm!
A little help for those of us who's typing ability is sometimes lacking:
0 -
I like that bionic(?) hand NM can I borrow it??? Sure would help. I don't know how you can keep up with snow shoveling, etc and work too. By all means, fill that water bottle with that strong drink!!!! Our itty bitty secret.
Where is everyone? I seem to be on more lately cause my little netbook is right here. Just got tix for my parents return trip in April, as we are all going on a cruise in May. They don't leave here till Feb 22, but I am sad just thinking about it. JUNIE, Hope you escaped from jail today, and are relaxing at the relatives house. Let them pamper you rotten! If they don't then we will have to send Jocks over to take care of you. Take care!

NM, I like the bionic hand too. I could use some bionic arms today to shovel the snow. I did a bit but have alot to go. We are starting to get a few inches an hour. Uh, I am pretending to be somewhere tropical. I dread shoveling tomorrow by myself.
Wahine, I saw the story on the implants on world news tonight. I liked that the ps said that there is a higher chance of "us" getting struck by lightening than getting this rare form of cancer from implants. They also said that the benefit of us having them outweighs any risks and I have to agree. And yes, I am having JD and some diet coke myself, just one for tonight though. I am tired and will be zonking out soon. I have been hot flashing all week and they do not allow me to sleep well. I am hoping a drink helps!
I am also on here more since I am not working and do not have much else to do or that I want to do. It is fun hanging at the pc. It is usually my intent to just check mail but I end up getting glued and tonight, no DH to tell me to get off.
Stanzie, I saw a commerical on ABC today for that lifetime movie on Sunday and think I saw a glimse of your hood! I am exciting to watch the movie this weekend.
I lift my glass up to you all and say chEARS to all! and Bottumz up, and titties too, duh!!

Sorry I missed the PAR-TAY tonight but went from a client meeting straight to the opera. Just now stopping by for a bit prior to heading to bed. I hear my pillow calling my name.
Should have more time over the next few days to drop by. The past four have been brutal. - Claire

Good morning, Loungettes! I am soooo tired this am, I'm dragging myself out of bed and trying to caffienate myself enough to function. At least I get to teach a topic I really love to teach today!
About the implants and cancer connection--I noticed the really small number of women getting that cancer, too. So few that they can't get a big enough study group to do any statistically dependable research. Doesn't sound like anything I would worry about. Of course, for the woman who does get it, it's devastating.
At least the latest Nor'Easter is going to miss my area!
How about an Espresso Martini for a DOTD?1 oz cold espresso
1 1/2 oz Absolut® vodka
1 1/2 oz Kahlua® coffee liqueur
1 oz white creme de cacaoPour ingredients into shaker filled with ice, shake vigorously, and strain into chilled martini glass. It should be somewhat frothy.

Oooooo NM, I'm linning up for one......or may be two ......of those!!! they sound soooooo gooood!!!! I guess I shouldn't have too many as I don't want to be up all night again tonight! Wonder how a little sleeping pill would go with one of those drinks? Knock me out...mmmmmm? I think I'll pass on the pill and just stick to many DOTD's!!!
TITZ UP!!!!!!!!

Dorothy, we have 2 businesses, one being a manufacture. We work from home and together, so not a problem with our relationship and family is scattered about the US. We go to the dentist faithfully, and have never missed an appointment. I still haven't called, will need to today. No dental benefits here. You'd think with all I pay in health insurance, my dental should be free.......bwahahaha.
Yes Kathy, I know you were kidding about the needle....silly girl! You are just always hurting yourself, and usually on the feet! Doing your treadmill is good, especially if you can watch some telly while doing it. I am LMAO at you trying to keep the dogs up to par, with the Hoity Toities! I haven't looked at the link you posted on implants, but it just seems like they are always trying to blame it on something. It's the freakin chemicals they feed the animals and put on and in our food, grown veggies and fruits, etc.
Those were some long days Claire, and I too will be glad to be off the Arimidex....Oct 2013 for me. I am concerned it might be worrisome tho, kind of like getting rid of a security blanket, ya know?
Dorothy, I can just picture you at work, fondling your boobs........LOL! You be careful with that snow, remember YOU JUST HAD SURGERY!
NM, hope you had fun and enjoyed teaching today. That looks like a lemon drop in your water bottle, but I'm sure its just water with lemons in it!
Chrissy, as much as I hate to admit it, but I have taken a night time pain pill (has sleep aid in it) after a few drinks. Directions are to take 2, but I just do 1, but sleep like a baby!
Junie, can't wait to have back, hope you are starting to feel better.
HD, come out come out where ever you are.
Dee, big hugs to you. Hope you have been able to get your pain under control and I wish you come back and have some fun with us.
LazerSquash anyone? Could you imagine playing that after a few drinks????
0 -
Claire, I hope you get time to enjoy yourself. How was the opera?
Chrissy, yeah, I have drank while taking pain pills and can't deny that it is not for a little recreation! I took a pain pill this morning as I have to get shoveling the 18 inches of snow that hit us, uhhhh. I could use some help, are the tenders available? And since DH is away, DW will play!!
Goldie, I will join you and Chrissy for some laser fun!! Oh yeah, bring it on. I will probably loose as I am stil fondling my girls here.
NM. great DOTD, I had me one and am off to shovel a bit. This snow is heavy, oh my gawd.
Junie, we are awaiting your return so that we can parTAY in your honor!!
Where is Kathy? I hope you are not in the ER again
To all, have a great day.

Well girlz, it's 12.40am and here I sit bright eyed and bushy tailed and just wishing these eyes wanted to close and get some rest. I think half the problem is that the weather here is hot hot hot and I hate hate hate the heat!!!!! I definately think some exercise in Goldies lazer squash court followed by NM's DOTD and a pill or two just might, I say, just might put me out for a good eight hours........ooooooo now that's what I call bliss!!!!!
TITZ UP!!!!!

Is it time to start drinking yet????

NM, VERY funny! Crap, I guess I will have to stop drinking upon wake up next week as I do not think my boss at work will like smelling JD on my breath!
Kathy, I guess there are no updates on Junie....I still think about her all the time and can't wait to have her back.
I am SO grateful to my neighbor who helped me out with snow removal. I was really struggling with it getting little teeny tiny bits done and have a pretty good size driveway and alot of sidewalk. He came along with his snow blower and dug out everything including the 4 ft.of snow that the township put on the apron of my driveway. I think I will bake hiim a pie or something to show my appreciation. Maybe I will buy him some beer, better yet! I was getting scared last night when I heard the noise from the storm. Who'd ever heard of "thundersnow"? Yikes, it was freaking me and my dogs out.
Chrissy, wake up, come and join us, there is a big partay tonight. And Claire and Goldie, stop working and join in. Karen, Stanzie, Astorm, stop on by and hang with me, Kathy and NM for some heavy dwinking. I am going to the tub to soak awhile, close my eyes and drink, wake up then drink more! Cheers!

Dorothy, What an angel of a neighbor! So glad you didn't have to remove all that snow by yourself. Did you know that the "thundersnow" was a possibility? We knew ahead of time to expect it, so it was so awesome, and not scary. I think NM was the first one to mention it? Had not heard of it till her post, then it was cool to have it ourselves. Right now we are enjoying NICE weather!!!! Cannot believe it might be 60 this weekend....yay! I was busy today and just got home in time for Happy Hour, so haven't called junie yet. Didn't want to bother them yesterday, as I am hoping she was able to leave the hospital. I'll let you know when I know something!
Chrissy, Hope you ended up getting some good sleep!
My DD's dogs bill is now $2200......yikes! They should be able to bring her home tomorrow. Her skin was raw on her nose and under her muzzle, so they figure she had to use her muzzle to try to get home also.....pulling herself on the road with her "chin". The staff at the vet surgeon's office is raving about how sweet she is, with all she went through and all they did to her. She IS a sweetie, and I am so glad she should be okay.
Dwink up, girls! HunkyD, AStorm, Stanzie, and EVERYONE, come on in! The pool is nice and warm and the lights are on in the pool, and the tiki torches are lit, etc...Just awesome here tonight!
TITZ UP!

Kathy, I heard few weather people talking thunder snow but thought that was a term for snow coming down at a rate of 1-2 inches per hour. I did not think it meant real thunder. I guess I am naive at times. Uhh, the shit was heavy due to the mix. We are expecting a small amount of snow this weekend and another storm, possibly large, is lurking. Come on Spring, get here already. Chrissy is lucky the airports here as so backed up, I would visit now...if she would have me that is! I'd rather cool off in the AC then deal with the weather we are having.
I am sorry to hear about the vet bill. It is not cheap being a dog owner. But it is good that there is good care available to our babies. I feel so sorry for your DD's furbaby, that just hurts to hear what she endured. Give her a kiss from me and tell her good job getting home.
Hoping for good news on Junie. I am having fun hanging by the pool and smelling the torch oil, smells like summer time!! I lift my drink and say ....what else?.....get me another!
CHEERS!!!!

Here's another UP side to being self-employed. Yesterday I got paid to drive to Sonoma (that's wine country for those unfamiliar with California geography and/or AVAs)... met with a client for several hours and then hit 3 wineries and a lovely restaurant (arugula salad with goat cheese, pecans and figs, and some yummy duck confit with a flight of Pinot Noir).
Kittycat - good idea... tequila and Meyers lemons
Lori - another good idea! I've made lemon drops in the past with them and they're awesome.
Having some technical difficulties and I've been working a lot so not much time to catch up... I'll sneak out later when the family doesn't miss me as much...

Chrissy, great job sleeping, you drink up now and celebrate. And I would weally loves to come down under and meet you. Sad thing that the bus can't go over the ocean. I am sure we would shake the house some. Cheers! Lots of drinks will surely cure your pill hangover
Astorm, wine country sure sounds like a great perk. I have a friend who lives in Rohnort CA and I believe that is in Sonoma County. It is soooo gorgeous in those parts. Nice to see you here and I hope your IT people (you) can fix your issues. The meal sounds like it was heavenly. Maybe we should have that place cater us at the HTL and give our chefs a break??
Kathy, waiting for an update and praying that all is well for Junie. I know you will post when you hear.
Well it looks like just me and Chrissy for now. Hope more of ya gals join us! Tenders, bring me a double!! May I have your attention, girls, TITZ UP, now, all the way up. Yeee haw!!!

chrissyb - that is some awesome sleep - i am jealous! Even with pills, I don't achieve that.
Astorm - how lucky are you to "have" to go to Sonoma
I have a mini meyer lemon tree and it is great - I use it for lemon drops and used it for a blueberry lemon tiramisu last weekend.

Joining this PAR-TAY late after a haircut and visit to the wine bar. The people in the hair place laughed and laughed at my MULLET TAIL descriptor. That one is from you Chrissy.
Anyway, it's a thing of the past and my hair is shapely in the back now. Not as warm, but looks tons better. Looks like I have a style in front too. YAY!!!
Wine bar was just fun and I coached a youngish man through making a proper Valentine's meal for his wife. He was ever so grateful.
Back to work today, but the major pressure was off. Still have a bit more to go, then will be wondering when I will get the next batch. Such is life when you are on your own.
The wine bar is doing wine and chocolate pairings on February 13. Sounds like a fab idea and a warm-up for V-day.
Off to bed in a couple and deep, deep sleep. Last night, no problem sleeping, but awoke in a fright as was sure I had overpaid my IRS bill by 10x. Was thrilled to wake up and discover it was a dream. Would love to be making the amount of money that would result in $38k in taxes though.
Tailz up. Good luck at the gaming tables Beans. Sounds like you had a fab break. - claire

Hello all! Haven't been able to do much on the computer lately. One is in the shop so my kids and homework have been the priority for computer work. It is supposed to be 56 degrees tomorrow! But then next week another cold front.
Kathy- wow, sorry about the huge vet bill but as I've heard when something like that happens to a puppy then that puppy will become the most amazing dog ever! Happened to Liesl so I know.
So, yes the 30th is Sunday! will be interesting to see the movie... The house they used was totally redone. Will try and get down the street and take a picture of the house now as it is different from the movie. Of course then I have to figure out how to post it!!!!
