Kathy- Oh my gosh what a terrible time you are having. Hope your finger will be alright! Now that sounds like something I'd so . I've sliced my fingers twice in a year plus split my lip and got the same ER doc who remembered me each time. Hope you are not in pain and it heals quickly.
Oh, that is just horrible horrible about the dog! I'm so glad the puppy made it home. Hopefully being a puppy it will heal quickly. Poor thing - how awful I'm so sorry.

Stanzie - did the ER doc look at you funny? Once I fell on the stairs and broke my ankle. The doc at the clinic remembered me from a few weeks earlier when I fell out of a loft and had a concussion... I quickly explained that if there was a connection it was stress. At the time I assumed he suspected abuse but I guess there are some conditions that could cause someone to fall down a lot.... like being a widdle dwunk. The ankle was very painful and I was making a lot of noise about pain meds so maybe he thought I was an addict. LOL
Hope the puppy is ok!

thanx girlz, i meant to say she had her since she was a puppy (rescue labrador), but she is now probably 7-8 yrs old? she said they quoted her between $1500-2000, but worth it if she can be ok, thanks for all the concern.DH is trying to help my dad with that stainless steel work bench...i may have to assemble the drawers for them later (when I can hold a screwdriver again), but really don';t wanna touch the workbench anymore! soon it will be happy hr...yay! We had workers come iover today and they had to cut down 4 trees cause of the damage we had from that heavy snow, at least they were in the back yard, but took some of our privacy. cheers everyone!

Wahine....sure hope that your granddog will be just fine after the surgeries....they are family

Thank you Karen! She made it thru several hrs of surgery today and will stay at the clinic for at least 3 days I think. Still a hard road ahead for her.
Hope everyone is having a nice night! Beans, you gotta check in with us more often!!! Dee, how are you doing???
Hugs to all,
kATHY

AStorm - yes she most certainly did and asked lots and lots of questions. I appreciated and realized why but it made me feel really bad.
Kathy! Hope the puppy gets better quickly. How are you?

Stanzi, I am doing well, thank you. Glad that this morn I can take a shower...yay! Will take off the "snow finger" dressing and do a smaller dressing. Funny thing though is the darn tetanus shot hurts more than anything! When will Jennifer Garner be filming there? I am getting better at this hunt and peck typing now.....LOL.
My g'dau wrote a page about what happened to their dog....they also think it may have been wild hogs w/tusks that broke her legs....the bone was sticking out too. But here is one line from her email : "Last night Resses surgery went well but for 12 to 16 weeks she will have external rods on both legs and will have trouble walking she will probably never run again and will have some challenges." She still needs prayers that nothing gets infected. Thanks!
Good Morning! Hope everyone is safe with all the cold, snowy weather. We have lots of rain right now, but expect about 4" snow by tomorrow morn. Not as exciting as it was the 1st time it snowed this winter! I can imagine how those of you further north are very tired of snow by now! Let's converge at the HTL and enjoy the warm, balmy weather! And we know we have the best Tattie Tenders anywhere! Have a great Tuesday.
TITZ UP; CANCER CHUPA!!!

Well, I am now caught up on reading but no time to post! Glad to hear Junie is on the mend. Kathy, so sorry to hear about the dog, amazing that she made it home with all that happened to her....wow! And your finger, ouch. If it were me, I wouldn't be touching that work bench again. Nuh uh, no way, not happenin, NO!
Not commenting on everything this time, but lots of great drinks and food (as always) and some great pics. And of course you can't beat the company!
Hugs

Thanks so much to all of you who wrote back to me - it really did make me think. I have been hiding this secret vice and am so sick of being a slave to it. Even my Dr.'s don't know which is part of the problem because I would like to ask for help without them judging how stupid I am to do something so harmful after a 5 year survival. I ask myself that everyday. Am I just a procrastinating suicidal person? I hardly drink - I work out fairly fiendishly and I try to eat right. So some things I am doing well. I was the Relay for Life honorary spokesperson last year and it was so wonderful - but I admit I felt like a fraud.
So - I limited my smokes yesterday -cut way back - and the advice I got here was so caring and non-judgemental - I am going to beat this demon too -

Way to go Ellie....glad you were able to cut back!
Beans, Sooooo good hearing from you! We have all missed you sooooo much and glad to hear you are having fun. You deserve to have a GR8 time!!!!
Countertop guy replaced the one counter that wasn't right (back from Nov) this morning, at the bar area, so now waiting on the plumber to reinstall the bar sink. Would love to put all the likker back in the cabinet, but can't do too much with this sore finger. Hurting more since I am typing more and doing too much with it. Arrrggghhhhhhh! But with so much packed up in boxes from the LR and DR since we haven't gotten the flooring replaced yet, the bar stuff is a drop in the bucket!
Happy Tuesday to my Breast Friends/Drinking Buddies!

Wahine: just checking in to say hi! Today is my last chemo so I will start drinking again....White Russians here I come! It has been a long, Utah, 4 months! Hope you are well and hope to meet up with you at the annual in Vegas.

Hi girls,
Just popping in to say hello. I hope things are well as can be for everyone. I will be off to the dentist shortly for a filling and figured I'd stop by the bar first.
Kathy, so sorry about your finger and also your DD's doggie. That really stinks. I am glad she made it through surgery and hope that she recovers well. And yes, thank God she made it home, the poor thing. That breaks my heart.
Claire, nice motivational post to Ellie, she is at the right place. You little worker bee, always doing something.
Stanzie, I hope you are able to manage taming your SO or getting him out and finding a man that will respect you and love you. Good men are hard to find, trust me. Mine is far from perfect but always loves me. We have our sensitive areas but what relationship does.t?
Astorm, I hope you are feeling better. I have been a bit down lately myself. I think my sad is about going back to work although I know once I get there and get back to the swing, things will get better. I get so bored at home and lately have again been doing nothing. I had to clean today for my cleaning lady. If not for her coming every other week to help, my house would be a nasty mess. I have three dogs and with this weather, they are all penned in my kitchen. Our groomer comes tomorrow, thank God as it is starting to smell like a wet dog in my home.
Hi Beans, so nice to see you. I think of the Brady Bunch trip to Cal. when I read your post. I hope you have tons of fun. And behave, don't get arrested lol. Miss you so much.
Chrissy, I hope you are enjoying your tennis. I once played tennis and just love the sport. I will watch the opens when they air here. I really miss playing. Claire, can you whip my ass back into shape and get me moving again? And not while I am dwinking, lesson learned.
Hey how about a tennis court at the HTL? Chrissy can watch me play, watch me fall, pick me up then have a laugh or two.
Too all, I have missed you. I still have pm's to return but have not been on the computer much. DH is leaving in the am for DC and will be gone til Saturday. DD is coming home from school for the weekend so I will not get too lonely or too drunk.
Goldie, I am glad you like my typos. I haven't time for spell check. Or shall I say I am too lazy? No way, I haven't time lol.
Love you girls and hope to find a party tonight. DH is going to bed early, he was up at 4:30 this morning for work. He drives a limo part time along with his construction jobs he does. Good thing someone is making money around here. Ok, I ramble and don't care. Take care, see ya after the dentist girlz. Tits up, hell yeah!

Ellie - there is a lot of support here! Plus, I think youwill find that you are a very strong person. If anyone thinks about it, we would all have to confess that we do something that is bad for us... for example, how many women do you know who wouldn't want to be 5 pounds thinner but they eat the cookie anyway... and then another one... or a second glass of wine when we always say we only have just one... We're just a bunch of drunkin sinners...
Kathy - did you say "put all the likker back"!? Maybe we can help you with that! ... maybe if you had a little nip your finger wouldn't hurt... just a thought.

Ha Ha Gail, you hit it right on the head! Even when the dr was stitching me up, since it was almost 6 pm, when he offered me a pain script I just said "No, I'll have Happy Hour when I get home". And that was the first thing I did! Well, I actually called junie first, THEN happy hour!
Lizzymack, Long Time No See! How've you been????
Dorothy, I agree with that doggy smell, but I don't have a groomer coming over . With the wet and cold, then the snow and cold, they have been in the kitchen and garage SO much. Lots of beds, towels, etc to constantly wash so they can be warm and dry, But I am thankful for them. My DD emailed a copy of her furbabie's after surgery xray....OMG to see so many breaks in her poor legs, jagged, plus one bone was sticking all the way out when they found her. Now the surgeon says he may have to go back in and put MORE pins in her cause he ran out of pins. WTH? To have to put that poor doggie through another surgery...doesn't seem fair. And to see the x-rays, she has so many long pins sticking out of her front legs it looks like accupuncture. I just hope she recovers well.
Gonna go and help my parents in a bit....BUT not that dang workbench....I think DH and my dad finished it yesterday. Will help him on the 'puter, help my mom decide where to hang pics, etc. I can't even hold a screwdriver, so no help with physical stuff! Wet, rainy, dreary day,but not so cold.
Ciao for Niao,
kath

It's so quiet here, I can hear a pin drop. Oh darn, now I stepped on it! LOL. Where is everyone???
Okay, here is some FANTABULOUS NEWS~!!! Just talked to Junie and it looks like she might get to leave the hospital in the morning!!!! YAY!!!! They need to stay nearby for a couple of days and then they can head home maybe Fri or Sat. She wanted me to say hello to everyone here. I told her how much we all miss her and can't wait till she can get back here to the HTL and just have fun!!!
ChEARS! Bed Pans!

Yeah Junie!!! So glad to hear she's doing better, I have been praying and hoping...can you believe wez are in a motel and I can say HELLO FELLOW BREASTFRIEND BABIES twice in a day??? My DH has kept me soooooo bizzzy dizzy! I will post a pic or two when I land on solid ground. Tomorrow we R going over to Carson City. I played slots last night and was on a winning streak. Unfortunately DH was on a losing streak so still we came our $4.50 ahead - geeeaaawwwdd big time gamblers here!! Then we put it back in today waiting for a minor car repair...those slots'll getcha. Tonite more slots and then on the road early-early to, yipppeeee, more slots! Nevada is so freaking fun! I have a little pile of quarters calling my name and I'm not sure if I'll get seagrams and diet coke, rum and coke, vodka and grapefruit, vodka and vodka or just more dog beers! Anyways will be drunk as a skunk very soon, afterall, it is happy hour somewhere! Much love and hugs, Beanie Baby

OOOH reminds me of something AStorm said about a nip to take the pain away from Kathy's poor finger. One of my ex- friends one say sliced her finger and I mean sliced down to the bone so she drank a whole bunch of gin and actually stitched it up herself!!! I still cringe thinking about that. It was a bit crooked on the stitches but actually pretty good and she used the gin for herself and to clean everthing.... Oh my ! sorry probably no one really wanted to know that!
Kathy do you have snow?

Wahine....thanks for the update on Junie.....Great news that she is on the mend and might be out of the hospital and home soon. Your DD's furbaby sounds like a trooper...but poor thing to have to go through so much.....
Beans....happy trails....nice to see a post from you..
I've been soooo tired all week.....come home and can fall asleep.....wake up tired too....last night I went to bed early....well early for me....11:15 or so and didn't get out of bed till after 6, when DD got out of the shower and took me a couple hours to wake up....dozed tonight during the SOU speech....made myself go for a walk...its now 10pm and I am wiped!!!!
.....I'm coming up on 5 years since Dx next week and beginning to have moments of anxiety...knots in my stomach.....it seems that each year gets harder when the dreaded day comes.....
Beginning to stress about my approaching 5 year cancerversary.....the date seems to get harder each year....one of my dearest bff asked me if I wanted to meet for breakfast and go to a Jewish history museum display on the 3rd, not knowing that it is the anniversary of my Dx....I'm probably going to tell her YES, because I know that is going to help me get through the day....now I just need to get through the next 9 days.....
Going to watch the news and need to finish the laundry that is in the dryer...when I put it in the dryer, I found laundry from 2 days ago that I forgot about...also need to put some of my clothes away...especially so I have undies in the morning!!! Lets see if I can be in bed around 10:30 and see if that helps.....Sweet dreams and hugs to all...Karen

Karen - The way I think of the canceversary is that I am that far AWAY from the dx... Five is milestone! On my 5th canceversary I'm going to be whooping and hollering so loud the neighbors will probably call the County Animal Services on me again.

Hi everyone...... Forget who noticed that us self-employed types get to work "all the time". So the last three evenings. Have the Opera tomorrow night and I am going!!!
So thrilled about Junie. YAY!!!
Thanks Dorothy for your feedback on my words for Ellie. I am never quite sure about these things. Hoping that Ellie feels better.
I was out walking this evening (before tackling one more rewrite) and thinking about this whole experience. I think a milestone between the sea of change of the past decade and something wonderful going forward. The "wonderful part" may turn out to be no more than I get to be here, but that is great in itself.
This was also prompted by a call from my ex: still wants to know everything I am doing and thinking; still upset if it all doesn't go exactly his way; still unable to process anything that doesn't fit his narrow view of things; I might as well be speaking Chinese. No wonder I couldn't stay married.
Anyway, we have brighter days as confirmed on my Saturday ride, and winter is waning. Still hoping for more skiing. Still expecting great things ahead. And yes, these sentiments are fueled with a good (albeit late) dinner with wine. BottomZ up!! - Claire

A Storm - I love Meyer lemons. We have a dwarf Meyer lemon tree and it just produced some fruit. So yummy with a good bottle of tequila!!!
Ellie - it takes time. My DH is a smoker and it's hard for me to understand why he smokes (esp after being in the chemo suite and seeing lung cancer patients). You are under a lot of stress. One of my girlfriends who is also a bc survivor still smokes. Her doctor didn't want her to stress out about bc and smoking. When you feel comfortable, then try to quit smoking. We're all here for you.
Wahine - sorry to hear about your DD's dog. Poor baby. I hope the vet can make her better! (((hugs))))
0 -
Ellie, I am a reformed smoker of two years and I can totally relate to the struggle you are going through but always remember, you are stronger that you think and every day that you smoke less is a bonus always heading to the day when you can say with pride.......'I no longer smoke!".......I used to say to myself each and everyday, I am a smoker but I'm just not smoking today until it became a habit. Now, I rarely even think about a cigarette even when I am in a most stressful situation. Hope you continue to head for the smoke free zone!!!
Cathy, ooooo your poor grand furbaby! hope he stays infection free and heals well. And your poor finger!!!! I have done the same thing sometimes when I used to do all the renovating in my home and it only takes a millisecond loss of concentration to do ourselves a lot of damage. I do hope you don't overuse it until it is fully healed.
Dotty, I would love to watch you play tennis!!!!! I used to play competition squash as I found a tennis raquet to heavy for me to control so when I tried to serve, I would hit the ball so hard that it used to go over the fence of the court and just keep going. I used to loose too many balls so the club asked me not to play. I found squash suited me much more as I could control the raquet and hit the ball as hard as I liked without it disappearing!....lol
Yay Junie!!!!! can't wait to see you back at the HTL!!!
Karen, please don't stress about your 5 yr checkup. The only reason you need to stress is if you are having some symptoms of some sort. But 5yrs.......Yahooo!!!!! good for you.....you should celebrate!
Claire, working for yourself is no picnic, I know I did it for many years. What some people don't understand is that if you don't work, you don't have any income.......can't live on fresh air! Taking time off is also hard as you need to work three times as hard prior in order to be able to afford to take the time off. You go girl, cudos to you for having the fortitude to do it!
Yay Beans!!!!!! glad to see you are able to post!!!! Sounds like you are having a most wondermous time with you DH and the travelling you are doing. Be careful of the slots, they can get you!!!! Thems are berry dangemous tings!!!!
Hi Stanzie, Goldie and Astorm.......have I forgotten anyone? sorry If I have.......I think I'll head down to the pool, need to cool off a little before I head for the wine bar.
chEErs, ChAIrs and TITZ UP!!!!!!

Oooooo my bad!! sorry Kitty I forgot you.......didn't mean to!! Love ya girl!!!

Sounds like we need a HUGE party. Junie gets out of the hospital and can hopefully go home in a few days. Ellie is on her way to battle that smoking (hey, how about one of the electronic cigarettes). Beans is checking in, having fun and going to Vegas. I hope the Gambling Gods are good to you Beanz. Karen is coming up on her 5 year. Karen I must say, I feel like Astorm, I would be hootN and hollerN too. Maybe that can be a new way to look at that date, a day to celebrate, instead of a day to dread. I only know what month mine is, it was a day I didn't want to remember! I can look at my reports, but it doesn't interest me.
OMG Stanzie, how could someone pull that off. I watched a show the other nite where a guy got his arm stuck in something and attempted to remove the arm (with a saw) but was unsuccessful. He was found and is ok, but ewwwwwww! I just could not be that brave.
Kathy, I hope that pin wasn't too sharp. I swear, you are an accident waiting to happen! That poor doggie of your DD's. What a horrible ordeal and they want to do more?
Claire, enjoy your opera, that will be a fun night. We are self employed, and there is no way I could find the time to do all the skiing, cycling, walking, micro brewries, etc that you do. I don't have enough time in the day to get normal things done. I have been trying to get a half hour walk in after dinner.
LOL @ Chrissy asked to NOT play tennis anymore by the club. That is hilarious! You and Dorothy can play here at the HTL. Dorothy, hope all went well at the dentist. We were suppose to go last Friday and forgot all about until we got home and there were messages on our machine. We never miss appts, I still have to call and reschedule and apologize.
Kitty, I'll take some of those lemons and make "Lemon Drops". Had my first one this past weekend.....YUM! Oooooh and had 2 Cosmo Martinis, first for those too and anonther YUM!
1/2 oz vodka
1/2 oz lemon juice
1 sugar cube
Add sugar to the rim of an old-fashioned glass, and drop a cube or packet of sugar into the bottom of the glass. Pour vodka and lemon juice into a stainless steel shaker over ice, and shake until completely cold. Pour into the prepared old-fashioned glass, and serve0 -
Good morning girlz,
To those of you that are self-employed, running your own business does take alot away from life in that you have to always be working to make money but it does have it ups with being your own boss. I came from a family where my Dad was self employed and he worked very hard to grow his business. He had to pay for our family health insurance and did not get 401k's and such. Keep up the good work and I hope you all have continued success.
We are getting another snow storm here and it is a nor'easter. It was supposed to start as a snow/rain mix but it is all snow and coming down at a few inches and hour. Yikes, I will have to get help in removing it since DH is away. I am so over this winter and am counting down the days til spring.
Kathy, I have the mobile groomer come here as my oldest doggy is 14 years old and has to get his hair cut. I used to take him to a place but they would keep him there for hours in a crate and I did not like the way he stressed out when going there. He is a long haired WD and is very mangy. DH will not bathe the other ones and I am not able to do it so we pay to have it done. It is so nice when they smell so good for a few days. My MIL had something to say about my mangy old guy at Christmas as he is way overdue for a cut. I just hope the snow does not keep the groomer from coming at lunchtime.
I am thinking about your DD's doggy and hope she is recovering well. And great job in typing with just three fingers.
Stanzie, very funny story about your friend who stitched herself up. Sounds like something I may have done in my younger years. I did pierce my own ears and also my cousin's when we were just teenagers. We used ice and drank lots of rum. I learned that piercing while drunk does make for crooked holes. My cousin never told her Mom/my Aunt that it was me who did it as she did not have permission.
Astorm, I hope things are better with your DH. Maybe we should have sent him to DC with mine and give you a break. We could have a WD playdate. My DH claims that the dogs are mine and says he wants nothing to do with him yet I also find him talking sweet to the two of them. He still hates my Bella and I beg him over and over to treat her better. She is very jumpy and gets easily freightened but he does not help things by startling her intentionally and there are times when I want to hurt him for doing that to her. He is just clueless and laughs and says I should take her out of her misery and put her down. No way, he is just so stupid about the way he treats her and no matter what I say or do, he does not change. I try to make it up to her when he is not around!
Hi KittyKat, I am wishing I was in a warmer climate and could have fruit trees in my yard. I'd love to see a pic of your little lemon tree, it sounds fab!
Beans, I can't wait to have you back here but it was great hearing from you. I hope you are having fun gambling and hope that you win today. How are u doing with eating your PB cups? I hope it is easy now and you are having zero se's. Miss ya girl.
To all of you, have a good day and let's drink. Let's start Junie's homecoming party early. I am ready, fo show!!!
Bottomz up and cheers!! Off to the hot tub I go with my JD and coke (not coccaine) ha!
And where is NM? I have missed my morning dwinks.
Claire, perhaps if you learned Chinese, your marriage would have worked, no? 克萊爾,也許你應該學習中文,你的婚姻會工作哈哈!It is easy, I taught myself lol. I do find you very good at giving advise. You tell it like it is but with a loving approach. And you bring alot of inspiration to our drinking club. I am so glad i found you girls here. I feel like I know you all.
And yaaaa hoooo, Junie is coming home. We will have the biggest partay ever when we hear from her! What can I bring? I am glad that our prayers are being answered and hope she is feeling well and can handle the transition from the hospital with ease. And God Bless her DH!
Chrissy, darling, your tennis story cracked me the hail up. I had a friend that I used to play tennis with who had so much power in her hit, she also played raquet ball which freaks me out. I saw clips on the morning news about the open and was sad to hear that my little lover, Nadal is not doing as well as expected.
Karen, I would also be celebrating five years cancer free. I am only six months out and am wishing my life away. I can't wait to make it to the five year point. I sure hope that you are able to spend your day with your friend at the museum and celebrate instead of mourn.

Goldie! Nice to hear from you. I was typing my little fingers off, saw your post come through and wanted to edit but hit send, oopsies! The Lemon Drops are delicious, glad to see a DOTD. Don't forget to reschedule that dentist appointment. I can still feel where the needle went in and I bit up my cheeks a bit but otherwise, all good. My checkup was supposed to happen in Nov but I had exhausted my dental benefits last year in having six root canals. I would be still whining about them if not for getting the dx of bc. I hope you are able to have a clean check-up and no cavities. I just wanted to tell you I love you. Now get back to work.
0 -
Good Morning Loungettes!
Lori, I hope you know I was just kidding about stepping on the needle...LOL. Sounds like you had some fun with those drinks! Yummmmmmmm...... Hope you can fit that walk in; I really want to get on a program too. RIght now just treadmill, jumping jacks (thanx to Dorothy) and hula hoop (just a teensy bit of that!).
Chrissy, I laffed at that also, about them asking you not to play tennis there. Funny!!!! IS squash there like racquetball here? In an inside court? My Dh plays that really hard...he used to teach people, but now plays a couple of times a wk. I used to do that with him till I hurt my back, and also gained weight. Really hard to move that fast and get in weird positions! But good exercize. Congrats to you for being smoke-free!!!! I quit a million-kazillion yrs ago. Only started cause we thought it looked "cool" to be smoking when we were in the nightclubs in Waikiki. Stupid us! But after I quit, when my late DH would go for his 2 wk/year Nat'l Gd Green Beret summer camp (to Italy, etc) I would smoke while he was gone. Sorta like my "treat". After awhile I didn't even want it at all. It is HARD, so I wish Ellie the best!
Karen, I hope you do go out with your bff on the 3rd, and I would tell her it is your cancerversary. Like the others said, it is a day to CELEBRATE!!!! Have some mimosas with breakfast and make it a fun, special day. That is great!!!! Its normal to have anxious feelings, but I hope you will be able to put that behind you and enjoy the day. Congrats to you!!!
Welll, the snow did not come as they predicted. That is ok....less acccidents, etc. Just wet from all the rain. I think tomorrow and Fri will be in the 50's....YAY!!!!!!
Junie, Hope you do get to kiss the hospital goodbye today, and that you are getting better and better every day! Soon you will get to go home, and that will be wonderful!!!!
Oops, it takes me sooooo long to type now, that I missed seeing your post, Dorothy! Now please give Bella a BIG hug from all of us here, and I am glad you get to treat her extra-special while DH is away. Sorry to hear you will have to do all that snow removal by yourself, like NM has to do. Hard work, and be very careful you don't overdo it. SInce we had that big snow a few days ago, I am ok now with no more snow this winter! Hope the groomer can make it to your house! My doggies are overdue for baths and need to go to the vet for yearly shots, but he is in a rich area where most of his clients are inside pampered dogs. So if mine are not washed and nice and clean I feel like it looks like we don't care. It is HARD to keep outside dogs clean in winter months, and they are pretty big (well Maverick is). Good luck today!!!
Hugs to all of you for a Wunnerful Humpy Day!
Kathy

Kathy, raquet ball is different to squash. It's played on the same court but the raquets for squash have a long handle with a small head whereas the raquets for raquet ball have a short handle and a much bigger head. The squash ball is also smaller and harder than a raquet ball. I've played both but my favourite is squash. I still have my raquet but it hasn't been used for about fifteen years! Ah.....memories! All this talk of exercise has made me thirsty.........who's gonna join me in the lounge for a coldie?
TITZ UP!!!!
