Hear ya on the superstitious stuff. Gotta be real nice, so he thinks about all the nice stuff he'll get when he comes home.

I will not give this new sockpuppet any fuel (attention). He does seem to be his own worst enemy and I can only hope that anyone who reads his posts can see that he's an idiot. Can I write that? Is that slander? I'll blame the scotch if I get in trouble.....

    Peggy,

Can't remember who it was. Someone that worked for an attorney. She didn't like that we were poking fun of that case. So, I'm staying away from that one and the other coffee controversy.

Gag me, Janis. Never liked it. What year was that? I must have been in my depressed teens about that time.

AND I remember the American Indian crying when he saw litter on the side of the road! Oh, my mis-spent youth! I am SO glad that I was a child of the 60's. Kinda wish I were older so that I REALLY could have appreciated it but I'm happy with being born when I was.

Well, I for one am drinking tonight! I got a speeding ticket on the way home from work (in a non-speed trap location, or so I thought!) and am upset that I am now out $75. Dayum! It's not like I have any extra money under the mattress or anywhere else for that matter. Oh well. Now I have to be good until my court date as you'd better believe that I'm going to fight it.

Janis: In DuPage County - you pay for the ticket, but then if you can go for 3 months without a citation they will take it off your record.

It sure seems like the cops know when we are broke. Have a drink on me too.

Nicki, I tried to fight it last time but lost ( ) but it didn't cost me any more money just time and with my flexible work schedule it's not like I have to take the day orr or anything. And while I know I was speeding and I know he clocked me that doesn't mean I can't try to fight it as there were other cars around (North Ave. right by Swift Rd.) and I was going down hill so..... He wouldn't let me see the radar reading but as you know cops always 'win' but I'll be damned if I'm not going to see if he shows up for court or not!

Oh, I did some planting today, too. And laundry. I'm off work today and tomorrow but tomorrow my dog has an appointment with her oncologist (she had mammary cancer 3 months before my dx!) at 7 a.m. so no drinking for me tonight. Not a lot anyway!

I worked today. First time all summer. Not for a happy occasion. I subbed for a couple of teachers so that they could attend a funeral. One of our new full-time teachers lost her husband last Wednesday in car accident. She's a widow at 34. Her daughter is a classmate of my 13 yr. old son. She also took over for me, a long term position that I just couldn't finish two weeks before my bilateral. It's a weird time again at our elementary school, but it's amazing how the community rallys together. I didn't attend the funeral, but took some things over to her house for her company last week. I'm feeling kind of guilty for not going, but I really do not know her all that well. Thought I'd be more of a use subbing so that the full-timers could attend.

Janis - That's a real irony, about your dog. How'd you know that she had cancer? My dog was really sick and having stroke like seizures during my dx and bilateral. I was so afraid that she was going to die during that time. My 12 yr old just would have been a wreck. Our dog is almost 14. We're lucky that we still have her.

Yes, life is just full or irony, isn't it? It's always something, too, either birth, death, wedding, divorce, health problems, whatever. My neighbor had a heart attack last spring and she's only 40!

I found my lump in November but due to an insurance snafu (transitioning from company to another) there was a gap where I wasn't covered so I had to wait until Feb. '05 for my dx. In January I found some lumps on Katey so I took her to a doctor and she was dx w/cancer. She had two surgeries before I had mine in March. It was a very emotional time for me as she's my baby and I will be inconsolable when she dies. So I found a lump and I want to get it checked out. Sorry to blather on so!

So, Shel, what did you do/plant and what (perhaps more importantly) are you drinking?

So when I think of my mom, I'll think of Janis' doggy. My mom is Katie. What kind of dog? Mines a pound puppy, lab mix.

i'm drinkin a red stripe.........i didn't plant much, just some hollyhock and some other ground cover and some climbing ivy that we staked so that next year i won't have to have toothless ruby hanging over the fence (unless she gets a bigger rock to stand on lol)

sorry bout your doggy janis..........i had to put mine down right after i started chemo cause she was full of cancer in her bones and she couldn't get up the stairs anymore......her name was 'babe' (what a dumb name eh?)

(((Shel))) Sorry about Babe. I call Katey Bubba or Bubba Girl or Bubba Boo. Also, Puparoni (like the comercial) because she acts so young still, jumping all over the place despite being blind in one eye from a cataract. My yellow lab-mix is Sage. She was a rescue. Had issues but over the past 5 years we've worked them out. Oh, and Katey is a cocker. She's technically 'parti' but is actually white. She had some tan spots when she was young but they've mostly faded. If I knew how to post pics I'd post on the pet thread. I still don't know how I got my avitar and am afraid to change it as I'd probably totally screw it up!

So, Shel, is your Red Stripe the 'real' Red Stripe that they sell in Jamaica or the export version? Here in the states our beer is lower in alcohol (blech!) and we get the 'Americanized' stuff not the real stuff. For instance, Heineken in Europe is a different product than the Heineken sold here in the States. It tastes totally different, the European version being actually good whereas the American version tastes skunky. Inquiring minds want to know!
