Took DD out for Chinese tonight....got yummy sesame tofu....ate about 1/2 of it.....and I am still sooo stuffed...too full...DD will take the leftovers for lunch tomorrow.....

Goldie....I took AI's for 3 1/2 years...been off of them now for 13 months!!!!  My friend told me today that I should get it checked out....but I think I'll pass...it doesn't hurt but is colorful and a big knot/puffy....but I figure no pain, no worry!!!

Kymn...you sound fantastic......so glad that you are feeling better

AStorm....so sorry to hear that you are still feeling crappy....

Husker.....will be thinking of you tomorrow....

Kathy - yeah, it's pretty much gin & tonic but really good gin ... Gin was my drink of choice back in the day... went from T&T and gin fizzes to Bombay Sapphire martinis with just a whisper of vermouth... my technique is to fill a shaker with chipped ice, pour in a little vermouth, place the strainer on the shaker and dump out the vermouth (there is just the tiniest bit left on the ice) then pour in the gin... shake and pour into a beautiful icy martini glass... olives? bien sur!

thanks, Karen. The wine made me feel better, which makes no sense... actually I probably just forgot that I feel crappy...

Thinking NM might be really busy today, and Lori is out of town, so if no one else thinks of a DOTD, here is a Tanqueray & Gin, in honor of Stanzie and Gail......

    1 oz Tanqueray® gin
    3 oz tonic water
    0.25 oz lime juice

Fill a highball glass with ice. Add Tanqueray London Dry, lime juice and tonic water

Junie, Hope you didn't have any damage from those storms!!!! Already storming here...lots of thunder....looks like 3 big waves of storms today, so will be inside! Guess you'll be getting it soon, Stanzie! TGIF.....Happy Friday Girlzzzzzzzzzz!

    Good morning ladies.....

I am a B&T lady (Boodles and Tonic) which reminds me how much I like one when the weather is hot.  Hoping the tonic water I have is still good.  They make special tonic waters/sodas here, including one of my old faves, Bitter Lemon.

My computer is fine.  The frustration though is all the custom software I need to do the "little things".  I missed a couple yesterday, so why the hours finding and reloading everything.  Need to remove something I loaded and didn't need.

Hoping for weather other than rain tomorrow for the Tulip Pedal.  Chilly here and cloudy.  Hoping Beans isn't shoveling snow this AM, because that cold and damp.

Anyway need to get moving.  Would really like to join the buffet a couple of days early.  Perhaps on Sunday, as tomorrow AM will be cyclists' chow. - Claire

Morning to all you lovely ladies!  Sorry about the absence but I have been busy with DD2 (Mareike) while she has been in hospital.  She had a hurniated disc and the debri from it was pressing on a nerve affecting her right leg but as of Wednesday last, that has been removed and she is well on the way to full recovery!   Who'd a thunk that you could get sooooo tired by doing nothing but sitting!!!!

Hope all are doing well and have managed to keep the boys busy while I've been gone..........not sure what the DOTD is but I'm exhausted enough to try two....or more......as the mood takes me.  I'm heading for the hammock, PaNtS in tow of course with a tray full of DOTD's..........who's going to join me for an end of care celebration!    TITZ UP!!!!!!!

YAY Chrissy, Glad your DD is doing okay! Yes, I know how tiring it is sitting at the hospital...was there almost 5 hrs yesterday w/ DH (he is fine....just a routine procedure). And I imagine you were there MUCH longer than that, and more to worry about. DOTD for today is T&T (Tanqueray and Tonic), since Gail and Stanzie like those a lot. SO, Pants just fixed us a big pitcher of T&T's and heading out to join you right now!!! My cuz from Sydney is in HI right now, and I talked to her last night and she is having such a grand time...I mentioned I bet everyone she meets just loves her accent....I love the Aussie accent too.

Sorry I'm late, Loungettes. Started feeling crummy last night, sore throat, cough. Think that cold I eluded a couple weeks ago has come back and ambushed me. Slept until almost 8 am, very unusual for me. Already feel like I want a nap. Gonna play couch potato today.

The good news is that I was able to pack up everything of mine in my (now ex) office yesterday. I only need to lug some books back and turn in my keys and I amn totally done there. I feel like a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders.

    Wahine-Love the logic!

Goldie-All day long yesterday at work I was thinking DILLIGAF and just floating along with a little smile on my face. Drove the students crazy! Overheard one of them saying I was "evil" for not finishing out the semester. I just laughed out load at that one!

Kymn-naps are good things. BTW-see that padded wall over there next to the bar-that's the one to run into when this feeling hits, nice and soft with a pile of pillows underneath for your napping convenience!

DorK-If you could hear me right now you'd think your voice was golden! I've caught something, got a sore throat and am croaking and hoarse. Singing is definitely out of the picture for me for a while until this runs it's course. I can't imagine how it feels to watch your co-workers things getting boxed up. That has got to be so scary! Hope that valium kicks in soon!

Wahine-are you sure those knives aren't flasks shaped like knives??????

Junie-Oh,dear, Junie, be careful you don't cut yourself while the boys clean up! Plastic wine glass? I don't think so. I'll go work with the tenders and see if we can't come up with an alternative. And may the force propel the storms AROUND you and wahine!  Maybe one that fixes itself?  Or one that combines the bottle and the glass?  Or assign someone to carry it for you?

AStorm-Wearing heels and drinking do not go together well for me, either! That's what I love about the HTL-come in the door, kick off the shoes, go barefoot or put on slippers of your choice!

Claire-a wine bar next to a chocolate store? I'm moving to where you are!

Stanzie-we need to call your tanguray and tonic a sleeping drink! Glad you got what you wanted, being "safe" too much is too boring.

Karen-do you notice any difference in how you feel after coming off the AI? I've only got a year and half or so left, wondering what it's going to be like not taking it, if I will even notice a difference since I have arthritis anyway.

GReat DOTD, Wahine!  Gonna have to try a few!  BARMEN!!!!

LMAO Kymn.....sawwry for the mess this am...thought Pants had gotten up all the "evidence", but that broken glass must have gotten everywhere. Junie, junie, junie...LOL, so glad they brought your ML's in cans after that fiasco! Yuppers, I totally forgot I was still in the hammock....yeegawd what a night...thankx for not tippng me over!  Is the b'day party tomorrow? Hope it goes well...I am sure the girls will have a blast. Shall we get small and come over there after being with Huskers? We could hide somewhere and give you small shots of likker when you need a pick-me-up! The shots would be small though as we will be teeny tiny.

OMG NM, just saw your post!!! Wow.....you are in fine form today, even with feeling sick. Hope you can play "couch potato" for real, as it may be all that stress catching up to you, too. Hope you feel better soon! AND thanx for letting us LOL at your pics!! I really had a ball reading your post,......so funny, and right on the money, again! You evil thing you (according to your ex-students.....that is funny)! Glad they will suffer for their meanness to you and may they also have those brownies you took there the other day. Hope you can relax with your feet up! LOVE the wine bottle/wine glass in one....what a riot. Take care of yourself, ok???

HD, Beans, where are you girlz?????

I second Kathy on being in fine form with pictures NM!!! I agree I think those glasses are winners! I'm actually a huge sucker for great /interesting drinking glasses. Usually found at yard sales or funky antique shops. Last ones were two beer glasses, royal blue with tiny fish that are transparent in the blue when filled with liquid!

Can't believe after the evil comment you didn't have a choice comment of your own, but then you are too good to go down to their level. I hope they actually learn how to treat people with respect. But then some people never learn do they?

You girls were wild n craaaaazy last night, wow, I missed some parTAY!

I tried to vist from work today just to vent but went into BC.com instead of org, duh. I guess I ought stop dwinking on the yob. Today was somber. Management threw a pizza party to lift moral. It helped until I got into an hour long conversatoin/screaming match with a client. OMG, I almost told him "dude, you paid for the 15 minute argument, not the hour, I will have to charge you more". He will most likely be declined by yours truly. It was a reassigned purchase loan from a co-worker who got the ax yesterday. The guy is Indian and his english is terrible. When I spoke to him yesterday, he was super nice. then today when I advised him that we had big trouble with his loan, he went off. The angier he got, the worst the english got. OMG, this creature is why I sometimes say I hate people. But enuff of that, it is Fried-dey and I have un drink in hand.

Well tank ewe all for listening to me vent. I am going to go and look for my twin sister from anodder mudder. Will be back fo sho to vist wit each of ewe girls!!

Peace, cheers, love, comfort and JOY! Joy joy joy.........

Hi Kathy - things are getting very very dark here. I saw all the damage and all the deaths reported from these storms! Just Hate Hate HATE this weather!!! Why are we always under a tornado watch midnight to 3:00am! Ummm we are usually asleep then...... not good. I'm probably having the kids sleep with me tonight and puddy tat too. Liesl was the greatest of storm watcher/warnings - she always knew and alerted me in plently of time..... I could actually sleep knowing she would wake me.

There are a bunch of big trees over my oldests room and one near me but it has been hit so many times most of the branches are on the other side and I assume would just fall into the open yard next door. I do have a basement if need be which is good..... Ugh!!!!! And more stores later in the week.

Ok, so had all this new landscaping put in and the irrigation so they worked then didn't. My landscape guy came and actually dug up all the pipes and replaced them. worked then stopped. Well he was ready to replace the board when it occured to me - what if it is the power at the well.... so after waiting 2 days got the electrician..... just hit me on the head with a frying pan! The breaker wasn't put in all the way!!!!! ACK! Now it works just in time for tons of rain and storms so not sure if the dying grass will revive or not.

Been drinking a beer as with the kids and possible storm that is the most I'm willing to do as might need to be able to actually think!

OK, better sign off - hope to check in with everything fine tomorrow!!!!

Dorothy.... there is always one, isn't there.  Reminds me of the guy who tried to get out of paying for his printer because he bought it just prior to it going on sale.  I remember telling him that I wasn't going to be spoken to that way.  Then he told me to go f myself.  Someone from NJ.

The guy wasn't even bright enough to be civil to the one processing the loan for the money he needs to buy a house?!?!?!?

NM.....glad you are past everything and on to newer and better.  Sorry you are getting the creeping crud.

Only late afternoon here and I think I need a drink.  Mixed day, but just got a call from a friend whose gig may be about to end.  She is beyond upset. - Claire

    Lulubelle,

Doing the Tulip Pedal, think the 40 mile route.  Dinner was supposed to be fish, but Kurabota ham steaks were on sale.  So guess what won.  Plus bowling-ball sized artichokes.  Need to get out my pot and cook them.

Just booked my flight and hotel for a conference I am attending in two weeks time.  As the main hotel was full, I selected something that is connected via light rail.  One third the price of the convention center.  Got a flight deal too.  Important, as I am footing this bill myself.  Still expensive but a lot less than it could have been.

One thing about this conference: services people like to party.  So need to make sure I am in shape to keep up with everyone Smile

Talk to you all later. - Claire

Oh, and I had to Google the ham you bought. I am a foodie (or so I thought), but this was new to me...."Japanese black hog, 100% pure all-natural Berkshire pork. Fancied for its exceptional flavor and consistency."
