Kymm.......remember the protein.  If you deliberately eat a lot of that, you will need fewer carbs.  A lot of this is energy crashes.

You are already exercising, so that helps immensely.

The mountains are so glorious here with their fresh snow.  I am glad to sit as butt is beyond sore from all the cycling.  Exercises are the last thing I want to do, but I need to do them.

Karen.....have the most joyous Passover celebration.  So glad you have your family with you.  I will be checking to make sure you drink the FOUR GLASSES OF WINE both evenings.

I need to get to work too.  Plus file an extension for my taxes.

    Happy spring everyone. - Claire

That sounds too easy! And a big deposit - yay!

Lulubelle - is that boob-erry tea or boo-berry tea? He he either way soundez guud. It has been freezing here too, was only 26 deg this am and yesterday we still had snow flurries...hoping for some sun and warmth soon!

Stanzie - I've never been a landlord either, have thought of it, but heard too many horror stories, sounds like you had a bad one. BTW - I love your new avatar, so cute!!! I love wahine's too, really makes you think about having a drink and a party!!

Dorthy - I was at Auggies partee too but you didn't see me cuz I had my lampshade on - tee hee! Just kidding, glad he had a good # 1 BD, YAY! Yeah I was trying to bump into you again, but got timed out...will hafta try harder today! Junie - yucko another storm coming...I'm sawwy, what a lousy spring so far! Calls for more beer I think, the tornado thingy in your garage sounds like a good idea and you can stock it with champagne, beer, Bailey's, and don't forget a few bottle of vodka...I do think the first time I heard of "dog beers" was from you and I thought it was hysterical too, it always makes me lafffff! So I give my tanks to you for turning me onto dog beers, yummy and so frothy and fun! I think Pants should order all of us the t-shirt - ha ha ha! Glad you will have a baby sitter when your DH goes to see his mom, that Alzheimer's is no fun, sorry to hear she is suffering. Love your after ski hot tub story, it does sound like a magical time...isn't it nice we can look back and have such fun things to think about...I think I'll drink to that!

Kymn - so glad your Canucks won! Somehow I never got into watching sports, just like to get out and do them...I did watch a little tennis when I was younger and one time I watched bowling - that was really boring! I think hockey is cool though, so glad your team won!! Sorry about the hot tub, that is awful to have such a nice routine with your DH interrupted for tweetment...hang in there, it will get better. Oh, I hate to see you worrying about a few pounds with all you're going through, I hope you won't beat yourself up, just pamper yourself and spoil yourself rotten. I'm glad too you're eating and not losing a bunch of weight.

Karen - wow, sounds like so much work in the kitchen, hope you get rested up...hope the first sedar is good and sorry to hear your son won't be there for the 2nd sedar. Sweet dreams to you and take care, have a wonderful Passover!

NM - I hope you are feeling okay, miss your post this am as they are always sooo hilarious!

Goldie - hope you are doing good tooo! did you ever get that bloodwork back?

Take care my loungie friends and I'll see you at Pau Hana time! Chairs!!! ~ naeb

Kymn, I am in my own bathtub which has jets in it. So no chemicals, no other people in it (although there is room for two, sort of). It's just an oversized tub with jets. When i get the body aches from the Neulasta shot it is great. I set up my iPad at the end (where it won't fall in!) and set it to music or watch one of my shows on Netflix. I have a glass of water along with my little glass of Bailey's, or sometimes wine (but not lately-wine tastes gross!)

You should ask about the Neulasta shot, or a variation-given daily when indicated in smaller doses-is called Neugen, I think. It is expensive, and perhaps not covered under your Canadian plan. But maybe there are alternatives? What was your WBC last time? Just curious how the doctor thinks your numbers will be too low next time.

Karen, How nice of your kids to get you a really nice sedar plate and matzo plate...very, very thoughtful! I actually sold one once, although I didn't really know how it was used! Bought it on a big sale at either LNT or BB&B....then put it on ebay! It was beautiful, though. Hope all is going well.

Lori, Are you home now??? Can't wait to hear how your g'kids are. What'cha dwinking??? I did the bone density scan today, but won't know for a week or so.Last time I was in that office was when I took them some goodies after my bilat mast almost 3 yrs ago....so it was weird to be there again. They did my mamo, ultrasound, and biopsy there, but were very, very nice.

Junie, Got your bucket of dog beers all iced, and a 2nd one too in case Jeannie wants it. That is, if we can get her to quit dweaming and get OUT of that bottle! Whats everyone else having?? After all the bubbly last night, I am back to Seagrams/Diet Coke.

I have been working believe it or not.  Got a project in today, and needed to get a jump on things.

I am making broiled halibut, but will gladly make a pork chop for you DorK.  Got a different Riesling on sale and ever so much better than the one I bought yesterday.

Filed my extension using the SWAG method for estimating.  Actually, as I had overpaid, made sure I was right in this assumption.  Will apply to this year's so wrote a smaller check than otherwise for Q1.

Had to do unnatural acts to make my printer do envelopes.  One of those little surprises that keep popping up.

As to your question DorK, perhaps everyone is laying low trying to forget how large that check was they wrote today......  Anyway, can't wait for my dinner. - Claire

Kymn, I had pizza tonight for supper-Pizza Hut. A fundraiser for a mentoring program I coordinate. Of course with the steroids, I was STARVING...ate three pieces, even though it really didn't taste all that great with my goofy tastebuds. Pizza Hut is not my favorite, but I scarfed it down anyway LOL.

Love the pic of one glass of wine a day. My dearly departed MIL had heart problems in her later years and the doctor told her to have a glass of wine a day, which she was religiously opposed to (we're Lutheran, not really against any of those rules!) but because the doctor said so, she agreed. She just got the cheap Annie Green Springs or similar with the screw-top and turns out instead of a little 4-oz juice glass size she was drinking 8 or more oz and she weighed maybe 95 pounds! She was feeling pretty good and the family was amused.

Little more achy in the legs tonight but nothing like Chemo #1-2, so hoping the half-dose of Neulasta holds up for lab work day on Friday. So looking forward to Friday/Monday off for Easter.

No drinks tonight...am trying to stay hydrated with V-8 Fusion and water, but a virtual appletini sounds good...where's da boyz?! Gonna turn in early, see if I can sleep better tonight. Darn steroids. Darn SE's. DAMN canser! Party on, ladies. I'm sure I'll be well taken care of.

...more than ready for my bucket o'beer--thanks, Wahine, for having it ready for me!!    Is jeanniebeanieweenie drinking the other bucket or gulping something else????   No matter, can always have Jocks ice down some more.

Been watching the Bahbwa WaWa special on the upcoming Royal nuptuals.   What a lot of to-do, but so interesting.   I want to watch the wedding (or a re-run)....think with the time dif, it will be around 4 a.m. here in Ark (???)   Not THAT interested to get up that early!!!   LOL!

NM--hope you're feeling better!!   Goldie--you back home yet??

I wish there was some guidance on the use of hot tubs--I was left with the impression from my onc to stay out of them....but, I have been in several after tx ended.   If the water was really hot, I wouldn't get all the way in and kept my "at risk" arm and surgery site above the water line.    Now, not even sure if lymphedema was the reason to avoid hot tubs......depending on who you talk to--always get conflicting info!   We had intended to install one on our brick patio out back (it has the same lovely view as does our deck), but I decided that since I didn't kow for sure if it was okay for me to use (and, DH didn't really want anything that required maintenance!!!) we opted out.    BUT, I've seen some really small hot tubs, just for two people, that could probably fit nicely on the deck--so, back to that idea, thinking I may surprise DH with one for Christmas or his BD or whatever!!........but, not if I can't get in it, too!!!

Bringing each of you a bouquet of lovely spring flowers!!!    Not sure what he's done, but DH has kept me in fresh flower bouquets for the past month.   I love having a vase full of fresh flowers--they always make me smile!

Heading out to the pool to see who's still left and what's going on!!!   Huggsss to ALL!!!!

    cHairs!!! and bumsup!!!!

Good grief you girls are chatty. I am home, blood work is fine but my colesterol is still too high. Supplements didn't work, so I will have to see my primary for that. Was 292. Had a super fabulous time with the grandkids, kept them for an evening while mom and dad went to a wine and cheese fund raiser and they were perfect little angels....instead of the unruley heathens they usually are.

I can see I will not get caught up on reading even yet this morning, so can't reply to much. NM, I had to be up at 4 am (yes it exsists, all too often) because my doctor is in Phoenix and it takes 4 hours to get there and I had an early appt, then on the CA. Hope you are starting to feel better too. DorK, I will post a few pics when I get the time, I promise. NOOOO Beans that was NOT me under the hammock! Stanzie, you could easily pull off Barbara Eden and Bean Jeanie could pull off Jeanie! And oh my, all the broken glass? Glad no one was hurt.

Ok, I am gonna try and read another page! Have 2 to go yet! Jocks, could I get a little Baileys in me coffee puleeeeeeze?

Mornin' Loungettes. Sorry to go MIA, but the uncommon head cold became bronchitis with sinusitis and generally miserable, slept most of yesterday, feeling much better (although not completely over it) today. I see I've got a lot of catching up to do! Fun way to start the am!

Beanie-Dogs can be trained to do just about anything, can't they? Hee Hee, those instructions are tooo funny!

Stanzie-If you are using Firefox, you can't copy/paste, exactly. You need to copy from word, then click in the posting box, then do the control + v. Then a new box opens up, click in that box and do the control + v thing again and all your text will transfer. So far I haven't been able to make pics go over, so I put them in after I've added the text. The right-click thing doesn't work in Firefox. If you are in Internet Explorer I think you should be able to copy & paste the right click way.

Kymn-You have a very weird hammock, Kymnie-but at least someone threw a towel over you! If you slept through the landing you must have been really, really tired! Glad the party went well, sounds like DD and friend had a great time! Sorry about the snow, I know what that can be like.

Claire-I actually thought about going in and proctoring the exam, just didn't have the energy. Although they do all deserve just such a gift, don't they?

Wahine-didn't realize your folks visited for that long, that would make rental an unworkable solution. Once your mom's car arrives all will be better anyway. I can just picture the drinks on the house, too!

Lulubelle-I'll be joining you in the hot tub shortly, I've got the last of this cold/bronchitis/sinus infection to cook off. Maybe some nice tea will finish the cure!

Husker-I'm thinking booberry tea is blue berry tea, but that may be a Maine thing. Am I close, lulu?

DorK-Ooh, I wish I had gotten on the computer yesterday. I didn't even call in yesterday, I just didn't show up and let them figger it out. I should have used the fukitol line, that would have been such fun! I missed Palm Sunday service, too, and I like to fold the palm fronds into crosses. At least my church family doesn't care much about drinking (except to excess) or getting dressed up (just don't show up naked) and such.

Claire-the tulip fields are BEAUTIFUL! Almost enough to make me take up biking, but since it's a long way from here to your tulip fields, though. And I have GOT to find some Bailey's Choc Mint to try!

Junie-And all this time I thought Dog Beers were a brand of beer! Shows you how uneducated I am about beer! I thought it was a hoot to find the "In dog beers I've only had 1" pics. And the joke rolls on! Somewhere I have a pic of my Mom in my hottub with snow on her hair, from back in the days when I had a hot tub on the deck. I so miss that, especially in the winter. One night I even got to see the northern lights while soaking. Someday, after the better paying job starts and the bills are caught up I'm going to save up for another one!

Kymn-those of us who have had lymph nodes removed, even if only the sentinel node, should not use hot tubs due to the risk of triggering lymphedema. We're also not supposed to get massages, or fly without wearing a compression sleeve or garden without wearing gloves, or ever let the sun light touch that arm without SPF 1 million sunscreen. Every bug bite, scratch or patch of dry skin should be treated with antibiotic ointment and possibly antibiotics. We should never carry anything heavier than 5, or 12 pounds with that arm (depending on your doc), but we should do weight lifting. Even doing all that we can still get lymphedema next year, 5 years from now, or 25 years from now. Those if us with bilateral mastectomies, regardless of weather or not nodes were taken, are supposed to follow these "precautions" for both arms for the rest of our lives. Do I sound a little bitter? Yup. I did all that and got TRUNCAL lymphedema from radiation. Not in the arm, in the chest and breast. Fixed it with a mastectomy. Am I going to live with all those restrictions? Nope. I take REASONABLE care, keep scratches clean, wear SPF 15 sunscreen, but I do not avoid things that make my life so much more enjoyable, like gardening, massages, and (if I could afford one) hottubbing. I say stay out of the hot tub during chemo, but once your WBC count is normal after, go for it!

Karen-congrats on the new plates! You must be thrilled! How thoughtful of your children to coordinate all that for you. Enjoy your holiday and tell us lots about the history and the fun when you get back!

Beanie-sorry to let you down yesterday, but I just didn't have the energy to get out of the recliner. Never even turned the computer on-for me this is SERIOUS! Feeling much better today, though, especially after a nice long shower and clean clothes. Got to wash the sheets before I put them back on the bed though, I can SEE the germs crawling all over them! Ick!

Husker-I am so jealous of people with iPads. I really want one, even though it won't really do anything for me my computer and my Kindle doesn't. It just looks like so much fun to play with!

For the DOTD we need a Really Good HOT TUB!

    2 parts Vodka
    1 part White Rum
    5 drops Irish Cream
Best served in a Highball Glass.

    Directions
Pour the vodka and rum carefully but not too carefully into a glass. They have different consistencies and you want them to mix just a little. Now let several drops of Bailey's fall into the liquor.

    good Morning ladies,

NM sending you some green tea spiked with run to make you feel better. Thank you for all that information on lymphondema...I actually had no idea about all of that I had 7 removed guess I am in that catagory, I saw people talking about that sleeve and I really didnt understand it, so will my doctor be getting me one? Am I supposed to? wonder why no one told me any of this, I was just told on my first chemo day that I cant give blood or have my blood pressure taken from that arm.

Hi HD so nice to see you again you are looking as lovely as ever :) lol at shitidiot, we canadians do have a way with words dont we. I am suprised to hear you get canadain tv shows there. As we barely get any here lol mostly american.

Beanius I will try my best not to beat myself up over putting on some lbs but it is so hard to retrain your brain, I have been fighting this battle my whole life up then down then up then down hmmmmm maybe that is why I got BC oh who the heck knows think I will just blame my mother lol she was like this too.

Kathy. I might have missed something when I was in my chemo fog....are your parents moving there now for sure????

Ok will try and pop on later have to get some work done cause I have leave at lunch I have a meeting with DD school she has been having some testing done my DS is ADHD and I think my DD might just be ADD darn it oh well we will do what we need to  she is just so flighty and is much more naive and pure than the other kids her age which I love of course but it doesnt make it easier for her to fit in, she plays with them but you can just tell she isnt on the same level in some ways way beyond in others like music, boys, getting into make up or what she wears nothing doesnt even register.

    ok really going now lol

Oh so much to say so little time..... NM !!!! What???? OK, I never heard ANY of those restrictions???

I had sentinal node removed and had double MX. ..... So very confused about why no massages? My PS - yes he is the PS not the BS - advised me to get massages to help with the scar tissue and tightness, also with MS my neurologist has always recommended them for my leg pains. Next... hot tubs? Well, what if they are not really all that hot? Wouldn't it just be like being in a bathtub? As we mainly use ours in the summer it is too hot to make it actually hot. Inconvient to use in the winter and don't have a cover to keep the warmth in so never had done that. Gardening..... hmm well shoot I totally removed all the ivy weeds and small bushes to put in some grass - guess I wasn't supposed to..... Gosh I'd so hate to get lymphodema... why is it it can show up so much later? Can you tell I'm a bit freaked? I also do work with a trainer and lift weights all the time...... Huh??

Gotta run so more late but had to ask! Love love the pictures and I do know firefox is weird so I was on internet explorer so perhaps it is just me! Never heard of control V though... interesting...

NM, I foigot to tanx  U 2, for all the lymph info. All I do is have them take b/p on my other arm, but neither PS or BS says I have anything to worry about and they know I fly a lot, but never mentioned a sleeve. I think we find out more info here on our threads than the drs know about it! I do still stay out of hot tubs, as I foiget which one told me that, and it may have only pertained to the time after my surgeries??? ANYWAY, many thanks for the info!!!

No, Kymn, unfortunately my parents are not moving here yet. My mom wants to so badly, and just counts the days in HI till they return here to visit. At least they do come for 2 mo at a time, but it is a LONG trip. THis time, they arrive tomorrow, then they go to Alaska next wk for a few days, then the 4 of us go on a wk cruise the end of May. My dad even told my mom she could stay longer (their return is June 15) by herself, and I think she may do that, but then I will be a bit concerned about her traveling alone, since her memory is getting worse. I will have to see how they are tomorrow. My dad keeps on being adamant on not moving, as he has always lived in HI.

Finally got a hair appt today...otherwise the dog ketcher might pick me up...lol. And finally the a/c guy is coming today...had our new unit turned off since Sept, so I sure hope he can fix it! Is it Happy Hour yet?????

Awwwwww....just had my first peek at the baby birdies above the column at our front porch....momma (or daddy) is feeding them right now...at least 2 mourning dove babies.

NM.....sorry you got it too.  For me, that virus was worse than a round of chemo!!!  Feel better soon.

On lymphedema.  I know that it is a horrible affliction, but I just couldn't follow the "don't lift more than a feather" advice.  I don't have a hot tub nearby, but I do take hot baths.  I need to in order to relax all those muscles from cycling or skiing.  Did I mention the being chilled to the bone issue???

I don't panic when I do things like slice my thumb or scrape my knuckles either.

Just got my bone density scores back.  All are NORMAL, and in fact, I have the bones of someone 10 years younger.  I am over the moon. - Claire

Thought of you DorK.....a new honey (nah, not the "hunk" kind...lol) for you from JD....

Jack Daniel's is delighted to welcome a new member to the family - Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey. We have combined Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey with a honey liqueur of our own making to create a taste that's one-of-a-kind and unmistakably Jack! We started shipping it recently, so it should be landing in your favorite stores, restaurants and bars soon, if it's not there already. We think you will enjoy it in a chilled shot, but would like to know what you think!

Popping in for a kwiky, maybe some of that "honey"!

DorK, wanted to wish your Auggie a Happy Birthday and to your dear daughter Kymn. Sounds like you had a great party for her. You both are such good mommies! And I am not a sports nut, but kids are and are always rooting for and saying something about our home town hockey team "The Wings" I know they are playing AZ right now and I think are 3 up to their 0.

HD, you need to keep ur shidiut arse around here more! And are you still going to PT, as I see your mouth is still not fixed!

NM, sounds like you are feeling better. The only lymphedema rules I follow are are blood pressure and needle pokes (none on my right arm) everything else I just try to be careful. No hot tub, but only because it would cause a hot flash if it were too warm.

Risque, so happy mom and dad will be here tomorrow.

For our visit, we met with everyone at a park Friday morning. Then my grandson had to go for some minor out patient eye surgery and we got to spend the day with the baby (She will be 3 next month) Took her out shopping, to the pet store and then out to eat at the Spaghetti Factory. Darrell's daughter and my grandson joined us when they were done at the hospital. Saturday, Grandson had soccer group, then we went and played Putt Putt, then the park and then watched the kids while mom and dad went out. Took them to supposedly the largest McDonalds in the world. Chandeliers and they have Chinese food too. But it was soooo much fun!

Gonna take Risque's advice and not worry about replying to everyone...just know I love you all!

    Bums Up! (cute Junie)
