Kymn-5 years ago I could not picture myself at 5 years out. Each year cancerversary has been a surprise to me. There were times I thought I was being changed into someone I didn't recognize or even like, but today I still feel like me. Changed a bit, but not in any fundamental way. I can look back and see drug effects, surgery effects, effects of fear and pain. I'm not going to tell you it's not hard. Getting through treatment and all it's effects is not easy. I went through times I couldn't type, think, or even function. I still deal with PTSD and depression made worse by the who bc journey. But I have survived and you will too. And your typing skill will return!
Lilyn-good words you have for Kymn. Welcome to the HTL!I had a wonderful nap this afternoon-AFTER mowing the lawns. Yes, lawns. I have a front lawn, also called the big lawn, the back lawn and the dog yard. Got some mess picked up, too. I was snoozing nicely until Sadie jumped up into my lap, shaking all over. I'm looking at her wondering what has become of he when a huge bolt of lightning flashed and thunder loud enough to shake the house boomed! Poor puppy is afraid of thunder! It was quite a show, first one of the season. Lovely warm day today, sunny most of it. I am so looking forward to summer!
Now I've got to check the news and see how Pants on Fire made out!

....Way to go, Animal Kingdom!!!!!!! Had a lot of fun at the party. We all tossed $5 ea into a pot and just drew numbers----I drew no. 16 and won $55. Too fun!!! Especially since one of the guys actually has a bookie in another town and I asked if I could make a $20 bet on Pants on Fire. He called, but it was too close to race time--saved myself a bit of cash, but that would have been fun to do. (Must remember that bookie for future events!)
I mentioned the wild critter I saw the other day that had some animal in its mouth and one of the ladies told me she's had several people mention to her recently that we may have a pack of wolves in our area! Several people have reported seeing one. But, the minute she mentioned wolf--the quick glimpse I got, it could very well have been a wolf--I never considered a wolf, having never heard of any reported in the "neighborhood". We have heard howling in the hills in the night but have assumed it was coyotes passing through. I'll have to keep a closer eye on the dog when we let him out. He's as big as a wolf but would just think it was another big dog to play ball with! Lord, what will I see next? Now, if I ever see a lion or tiger, I wouldn't bat an eye--we have a rescue reserve about 15 miles away that is home to many lions, tigers; many other animals--so, my mind could accept seeing one that could have escaped!
The hummingbirds are back. I got my feeders cleaned up today and my sugar water made. Will fill them tomorrow and find somewhere to hang them so I can watch.....they are such cute birds to watch.
Gottta grab my bucket o'beers before all the ice melts....heading out to the pool to see who's there. Hmmmmm, lots of people snoozing in the hammocks.........was gonna cannonball into the pool and say the devil made me do it! But, I'll be nice tonight!
ALL--have a happy Sunday--and those of you who are moms and/or still have your moms--have an extra special day!!! HUGGSSS to ALL.....everything possible UP tonight!!!

Manicure/pedicure was wonderful....got mauve on my fingers and lime green on my toes....evidentally hubby bought me the deluxe and I just got the regular, so I have another manicure.....to be that's even better than the deluxee (whatever that means)...so relaxing....I really need to do this more than once a year!!!
DD#1 and SIL sent me a beautiful flower arrangement....roses, carnations, and mums....I posted them on facebook, and if I can figure out how to post a picture here, will do so as well....They are so sweet....DD#2 and I supposed to go to Toronto this summer, the end of June and SIL keeps asking if I've bought the tickets yet....guess what is on my calendar to do tomorrow!!! DD#2 will go on to camp after seeing her sister...and I'm hoping to go to Israel...Hubby is going to go visit later in the summer. SIL finally talked DD into moving into a 2 bedrdoom apt....so they have applied to the rental company.....DD didn't want to hassle with moving....it will be nice for them to have the extra room....and SIL says it will be nice for me to have somewhere to sleep besides their sofa....
DD#2 keeps telling me that she spent a lot of money on my B'day and Mother's day presents (she uses her own money) so that shows she really loves me....she loves to tease!!! I tell her that I spend lots of money on her!!! I told her no whining tomorrow....and she goes, its okay, its your special day, then says, I got you a present to show you how much I love you!!!! Got to love that sense of humor.....Have no clue what she got me.....She has been buying her own gifts for several years now.....I know DH got me a pair of earrings (costume jewelry)....hopefully he didn't get more than 2 pairs!!! He always gets me hanging flowers for the front door and got them yesterday....wish he would have waited till tomorrow...but I guess it justs makes it my b'day week-end....2 hanging pansies...one purple and yellow and the other yellow.....plus the mani/pedi.....got lots of cards to open.....always wait till the day.....I turn a new age bracket tomorrow....wonder if my son will call me!!! I talked to him a bit the other day and he got annoyed when I asked about his grades...he said if I was going to talk about that he was going to hang up, so I said, fine hang up!!! Just wait till he gets home....a few new rules will be in store for him!!!! He gets home Friday the 13th and his b'day is the 12...
I'm having some neuropsych testing done so meeting with the neuropsych tomorrow morning...he is one of my therapists husband who works in Wyoming and home on week-ends.....he is training as a neuropsych, so getting this time at a great rate....we did some prelimary testing last month and will ge the results tomorrow....It sure is weird being on the patient side of the table!!!!
In the afternoon, I may go to the botanic gardens with Miriam and two of her bf and their mom....say friends we had brunch with Friday.....I guess, hubby is left out of the picture!!!! I'm sure he will be so sad to have the day to himself to listen to music and mess with his stereo!!!
Was it Stanzie who asked where the par tay is!!! My house.....make a right in Denver and stop on Ohio Drive......look for the two hanging baskets by the front door.....Lots of red wine....for those with other drinking tastes....my husband always has chardonney, a selection of IPAs or single malt scotch!!! I'll look forwarded to a crowded house!!!!! Sweet dreams.....and hugs to all...

A friend gave me this on some cocktail napkins and I still think it is amusing!
Happy Mother's Day!!! Had hoped to sleep in this morning but some unknown number called really early! A friend and her little boy are coming over and my ex is bring my kids over early this afternoon to play with the little boy and give us some talk time and then my ex and the kids made dinner for us tonight so I don't have to cook so I'm already happy!!!! Big thing to miss with my ex is he could fix anything and was a gormet cook, it was just all the rest of the stuff.... sigh.
My avatar is from my Mom and Dad's Wedding. I was able to scan that picture in but the next day when I tried to scan others in - it says scanner not found. I have spent two days trying to figure it out and just hate electronics so much!!! Why do they have to be so difficult??
Anyway - Happy Sunday and Happy Happy Mother's Day!!!

Again, I cannot figure out how on earth to post but there was an article sent to me from a friend called Driving and Shaving don't mix - it is from the Florida Keys! If you all can find and read this article - hilariously written not to mention the whole subject matter and situation is just so over the top - but truthfully it actually happened which is either really funny or really sad. My sisters live in the Keys ( NO, it was not one of them!!! thank goodness!) but one heard the arrest on the radio and apparently couldn't stop laughing.... They don't call it Key Weird for nothing! Sorry I couldn't post....

Mitch, when you put the link in for a video, put a space in after the link, so copy/pasted/space key.
Kathy, a Jaguar is the even older ladies, like us! I don't know where the age changes tho....lol.
NM....NO SORRIES! Remember?
I don't have time to read or post anymore (not sorry....lol) I have just way too much to do. Happy Mothers Day to all of the mommies here and a Big Ole Happy Birthday to Karen. I hope you have an absolutely wonderful day my friend.
I have cleaning, planting and packing to do. Leaving early Tuesday morning for Las Vegas to attend the International Hardware Show....Love you all! Will try and catch up in the morning. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!0 -
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
Hope everyone is having a GR8 day today! Sure missed a lot here....NM belated congrats on your 5 yr cancerversary...I don't feel too bad being late congratulating you since you missed it yourself! A great milestone. Loved the cartoons, pics, and dwink!
Kymn, Hang in there girl....you will get better and feel good again....hopefully someday soon. When I had my bilat mast and recon I felt so sick and my skin would not heal from all the dressing changes (even using paper tape...finally had to put elastic ace bandages over all), and I thought this was going to be the "new me" and I was pretty down about it. BUT after some time I was all healed, and felt good again. We are here for you, don't forget that! Vent when you need to. Hope your mom's day is a nice one!
Mitch, What a gawgeous pic of your parents wedding day!!! I like the Keys too...been there a few times on cruises, and then we drove down for our 1st wedding anniv, taking my mom and stepdad with us! Rented a big house, BUT of course floors & bed were creaky....not good! And it was so funny that the shaker of salt was missing from the house! I love Jimmy Buffet, but all the druggies down there made things so different.....like at restaurants they really didn't seem to care if you liked the food, etc. Sorta have their own rules down there, esp in Key West. But at least if you want to go there, you have relatives to stay with!
DD1 and I went to the Festival last night, to catch Clarence Carter. She had heard "Stroking" on the radio before and was tempted to bring her almost 13yo dau.....I questioned her on that. I have seen him in concert b4 doing that song, and remember how risque it was. Well, good thing only the 2 of us went, cause when she heard him do it in person, and all the lyrics added, and leadup he adds to it...well I think she was blushing too!!! AND she was glad her DD was not with us!!!
Today my DD's and my mom and I are going to an afternoon symphony concert....and will make some special dinner to take to my parents.Sorta hard since we have a house full here, but will try to make it nice for her. DH gave me a HUMONGOUS card and lots of $$$....which of course "fits'! Got a really cool emerg radio from DD1, as I mentioned after this last disaster that we need a good one! G'kids made me cards too....DH made b'fast for all...very nice day so far. Had a "tootsie roll" (OJ and Kahlua) this morn.
Scary Junie with WOLVES!!! Do not dance with them, just dance with NED, okay!!! But very scary to have them so close. Maybe all the flooding has chased them to higher ground by the houses???
Gail, and Dorothy, thanx for trying to put bad karma on the beotch renter!!! I hate to wish bad things for anyone, but maybe someday what she did will kick her in the butt (in her BIG butt)! Loe that cartoon, Gail! ANd DorK, hope you got a good appraisal for your house!!!! Since you learned how to clean it so well, wanna come here and help me??? J/K. Oh Gail, that mexican dinner sounded so nice, and with the nice views too....awesome!
Sawwry to miss so many parties, even the derby...didn't watch any of it, but been busy nonetheless. Gotta get going soon, but wanted to say hi to everyone!!! Think of you all, and just don't get to respond to everyone, even though I read and enjoy all the posts! We have such a big group here now, which is fun, but I forget what I was going to comment on! HD, how are you doing???
Happy Hugs to all,
RRW

My family took me out for breakfast this morning, which was lovely. We saw a neighbor with his 3 young daughters at the restaurant... his Mother's Day treat to his wife was to take the kids out for breakfast so she could sleep in! A friend always requests that her X take their son on Mother's Day and she spends the day doing things without him, like hiking or going to a spa... hmm. There were a couple of years there when that sounded like a good idea... when they are little you just want to eat them up, then they become teens and you want to spit them out, and just as they become interesting they leave the table.
Happy Mother's Day to all!

Before the child was born - Anonymous
A mother's love begins
Before the child is born
And lasts through time
And difficulties
And differences
And many wounds
And days of joy
And days of sorrow
Winding, wearing
Weeping, sharing
Changing
Until, at the end
What remains
Is that solid core
That began as love
Before the child was born.Wishing you all a glorious Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms in the Lounge! The Mom's Day buffet is just lovely, isn't it? I'm glad the Tenders included the Moms of Furbabies as well as the human Moms, that way I get to play too!
I got a lot of yard work done yesterday, finally! Even got to take a bunch of daffodils to church for the alter for today's service. Got them in my living room now. Managed to get some housework done today, too, so I'm in better shape for the week coming up. I really do not loke looking at dirty floors and dirty dishes when I'm too tired to get up and clean them! I'll be really glad to get on the weekends, then I'll have more days at home to clean up than I have out working and things will get back in balance again!

Lois - Happy Birthday and congratulations!
Kathy - oops, didn't mean to wish anyone harm... kharma is self-fulfilling (happens without anyone wishing it) but I DO hope she has a guilty conscience because when we are capable of doing harm to others without remorse it makes us ever so shallow and limits our ability to be loving and to be loved.
Ok, it's the countdown to I'm-completely-done-studying-for-exams Day -- 10 days to go! I'm going to need a big partay next Thursday (19th).

AStorm - I wish you such wonderful great luck, I know you will do great on the test!! I can't wait to party big time for you....10, 9, 8, 7....PARTAY!!!
Wahine - I was sooo soory to read about a bad tenant. That is so frustrating and I wish I could get a voo-doo doll out and make that person hurt, but then AStorm got me scared that will mess my karma up and I don't need more of that...still I'm really mad that someone would do that.

Stopping in to wish you all a Very Happy Mother's day. Mother's day is more than about being a Mom, it is about being a Mom, having a Mom too...we all have a Mother, whether she be with us here or in spirit, it is a beautiful day to celebrate all Moms and Daughters. And furbabies, why of course! I can't say that I have not received cute gifts from my doggies over the years.
I love all the new avatars. Beanie, is that your mommy in yours? And Stanzie, your parents are beautiful. I wish I could post a pic of my parents but I do not have a scanner. I had one but gave it away as I hate technology too and could not hook it up.
Kathy, sorry, I guess I am not a good person but I can't help but wish bad things on bad people. I have a bit of an evil side to me if I am crossed by another of if someone I care for is violated. One of my co-workers got snobby with me last week, she is an underwriter and thinks that she knows everything. I told her that I would not be talked down to then bumped my issue to our boss. She has weak underwriting skills and I have been doing finance since long before her mom was wiping still wiping her snobby ass. Oh sorry, I went on an evil rant, God forgive me.
WTG, Lois, congrats on everything. I think you share a birthday with our Karen. What an awesome day for you and a reason for all of us to have a big bday, anniversary and Mommy day bash!!
Gail, can't wait until you are done studying and can spend more time partying, yippie, it will be here before you know it. We will have a big party.
To all, I hope your day is as great as each of you are. And will one of you wonderful ladies point me to where Mitch's name is revealed? Pa-leeeeeeeze, I need help here. I am a dwunk, you all should understand. CHEERS!

My mom had this note she kept in her dresser that she said she got from a friend of hers and that she lived by it. When she died I made a copy that I carry with me:
She wrote me notes and letters all through my life and I think I've saved most of them in my attic! I carry a few around with me, here is one of them...
She used to call too and I'd do anything to get one of those phone calls again. Wishing you all a wonderful Mother's Day!!! Cheers!!!

Wow Beans, that got me teary-eyed. How sweet of your mom to have kept that to live by, and for you to keep it too. SO awesome to have those nice handwritten notes from her!!! She sounds like such an amazing, loving woman, and I know you must miss her dearly.
I am very sad for those of you who have lost your moms, but I know they are with you in your hearts and are looking after you. You all have been so sweet to send out all the nice Happy Mom's Day wishes to everyone, and all the nice pics, drinks, and buffet. Hope it was a special day to all the moms (furbaby moms included, as was so nicely mentioned earlier by someone). I felt lucky to be with my daughters as well as my mom. The concert was really, really nice. Just got home from dinner out, but am T-I-R-E-D.
I didn't mean that it was mean to wish bad things for our ex-tenant, I was really GLAD you all were so protective of me! It was nice that you all cared so much about what happened to us!!! Hope it didn't come out wrong, in an earlier post. Thank you for looking after me!!
Happy Birthday to the birthday girlz; hope it was a MAHVELOUS day!!!
Is anyone here dwinking...I think I need a double......
Kathy

Hi LadieZ......
Felt a bit left out today as no longer have my mother and am not one. But amazing news........Irene went home today!!! She was well enough to leave assisted living, but needs someone with her for a while. I am speechless. So resuming her life at 87 after a broken hip.
I had a boring day otherwise. Went to church, worked a ton of hours, and did a short ride. Made myself a good dinner. Still haven't totally unpacked from the conference and I have luncheon guests tomorrow.
Have to call one of the guests and reread report prior to sending out. Reread the last time PRIOR to wine.
Have a wonderful evening/night everyone. - Claire

Kathy.....hope tenant's next weapon of choice is a boomerang and it goes off course, and returns. Would serve him right.

Lilyn, Happy Birthday and cancerversary!!!!! You are doing well! Hope there are many, many more birthdays and cancercersaries.
Karen, Happy Birthday!!! Hope you had a blast and you have many, many more!
Beans, your mum was a wise woman and a very gentle soul......thank you for sharing her with us. The pic of her is beautiful!
Dotty, your fur babies give you load of love and licks! and that love they give?.....it's totally unconditional!
Kathy, sorry to hear about your tenant from Hell....yeah....I've had a few of those over time too and that's why I no longer keep rentals...It just breaks your heart when you supply something worth living in and they destroy it.....got so I couldn't take the heart break any more.....sure hope that doesn't happen to you. Good to hear you had a good time with your mom and DD.
NM, so good to hear that you are enjoying the new job and as a mom of fur babies ýou certainly qualify to celebrate as well!
Stanzie, wow, your parents look fabulous! and you sure do look lke your mom!
Kymn, so glad you are feeling well enough to celebrate!
Astorm, good luck with your exams hope all your hard study pays off for you! We're all on the countdown with you!
To all those I have not named, hope you day was a good one!
I think I need to lay off the booze for real for a couple of days at least! I slept so soundly last night a bomb could have gone off next to me and I still wouldn't have woken up! Best sleep I've had for ages........maybe I should start having a night cap each night?....lol
TITZ UP ALL!!!!!

There's a place in Portland called Voodoo Doughnuts. DDs had to go there... much hyped. The specialty is a voodoo doll doughnut with a stake in its heart:
The first location was closed so we went on a crazy, wild goose chase to find the other location. Now, I do NOT eat doughnuts. Ever. But by the time we got there and waited in line for 30 minutes I needed to relieve some stress... maybe that is their marketing strategy... so I got the voodoo doughnut. I bit into it and was instantly reminded why I don't eat doughnuts (this one is especially icky cuz there is red jelly in the middle). DDs wanted tee shirts but I felt they were inappropriate for teen girls (one said "the magic is in the hole" and the alternative was "Good things come in pink boxes".
