how about drinking?

Claire - don't you just wonder how people can compromise their ethics so easily? I'm looking forward to working for an accounting firm that has some integrity. I do, but the contractor-client relationship from which I derive my income sometimes puts me in a position where I am asked to compromise my ethics. One approach I use is to explain to the client that if my business or one of my clients is audited (e.g., by IRS) and there is a problem it exposes all of my clients. So, you should think twice before dealing with a CPA or anyone else who is willing to commit fraud.
I'm just full of professional skepticism right now... DH and I were enjoying margaritas the other day but when he mentioned to a friend that he likes a certain premium tequila, friend expressed the opinion that they charge more for premium tequila but they probably use the cheap stuff anyway unless you can watch them make the margarita! I'm thinking I may want to audit my favorite restaurants..
Beanie that's quite a party! I like the international flare... that child under the kilt looks like he will be scarred for life though! I remember the boys looking up the teacher's skirt in kindergarten when she walked around during nap time. My dad's birthday was 4/28... he would have been 94 but he passed away 24 years ago, just before his 70th birthday.
I'm starting to think about summer parties. DH and I are thinking about building a small deck outside our bedroom (since I razzed him about his avoidance of home projects)... wonder how I can keep the dogs off my lounge chair. DH bought me this great outdoor bar a couple of years ago but I haven't had enough opportunities to use it. Aaaaand my cilantro is bolting so I need to make some guacamole... must have margaritas with that and I only buy good tequila! I swear.

Wahine - great then you are coming too!?! YAY!!! I think the best thing to bring is a big bottle of Seagrams...the Scots like whiskey and will drink Scotch or, really, anything else! Really any excuse for a parteee! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! And Happy Hump Day to you too!
0 -
Beans.....the Scots don't recognize any whisky other than what is produced in Scotland. Got that lesson the moment I crossed the border on the train. - Claire

Of COURSE I am coming, Beans! Will bring plenty of Seagrams to share...and maybe some pupus too..... Woo Hoo!!!!!
Gail, Sorry your dad died so young. I know you must miss him so. Someone today had to do something at the edge of my dad's property today and then asked him how old he was. I think he had heard it from someone but didn't believe it. He acted shocked when my dad said 94, and then he proceded to tell him how his is the largest lot on the lake, and how I got it for such a good price. I think everyone there is envious that they have the best lot! He fishes every day from his yard. Thought that would keep him here longer, but he STILL won't commit! But my mom's memory is getting really bad lately, and that breaks my heart.
Junie and Stanzie, are you getting overrun with cicadas? We have TONS and they are everywhere. Very loud at night.....apparently this is the 13th yr, so this is the big year for them. Really loud outside! Not sure if they are only in the South, so not sure who is being affected.
Ok....gotta ketchup on the shows I missed tonight. Lori, are you having a nice time in Vegas???

AStorm - Happy Birthday to your dad, on 4/28, wow 24 years, and I'm sure you still miss him. My dad's been gone almost 2 yrs and mom almost 15. I think of them both every day. My mom was 73. Ah me, let's have another shot of rye! I'm also parteeeeing cuz I get a tax refund when I thought I would owe...my hats off to you CPA types for just such great work!!! Cha cha cha cHairs!

Gail.....I remember being chided by a Black long term manager about how my New England standards didn't fly in NYC. He took his children to Maine to show them what work was about.
One of the people I still miss as went to that great wine bar in the sky about 10 years ago. He spent part of his "retirement" trying to convince wine growers in South Africa to use greenhouse glass to increase production. Not sure he succeeded, but he sure drank some good wine.
Love the "you really don't want to be audited" tack. Works better than ethics any day.
Wine with guacamole is just fine with me. - Claire

Wahine - pupus too?!!! Hooo Haaaa, Yippeeee! This will be a grand par-taYYY then we can go to Nebraska Friday and parteee with Kristy!!! Your mom and dad sound so wonderful too, he's so non-commital about living there, I'm sorry your mom's memory is getting worse...ah me, you just have to love them so much!

Wine with guacamole or NM's cheetos works for me!!!
Lori, I also hope you are having a great time in Vegas!!! Miss you Gold-bug!
0 -
Ok now I'm craving guacamole... and wine. I went outside and snapped off the tops of my cilantro that were trying to bolt and i can't seem to get rid of the cilantro fragrance... wondering how cheetohs and guacamole would go together... probably better than cheetohs with broccoli
ewe.

Oh my geeawwd, a whole new adventure in cheetos, AStorm, count me in!!! That is too funny!

just wondering if there is some way to work the chocolate moose in too?

Ladies, who is in da house? I am up, again way too late. I started typing when I logged in after work and guess what, I lost what I had written.
Stanzie, sorry about your AC,I hope you are able to get it bixed soon. If it gets too hot, we can send the bus for you and take you somewhere comfy.
Risque, I missed Pau Hanna with you, sorry about your AC too. And tell me, how do you pronounce Pau Hanna? I have told work friends that I have to leave so that I do not miss it and am probably messing up the pronunciation in a big way. And spelling too, I refuse to use spell check cuz it does not recognize lounge lingo and annoys me. I am still thinking of you folks down there and praying for those affected by the you know what's.
If any of you ladies would care to join me, I have an extra bedroom although my 3rd bedroom has no bed. My couch is super comfy. I HATE being hot. It has been beautiful here for nearly a week. I wish I could share the sunny 70 degree days with you ladies.
RW, back to you, so sorry you have to work so hard at the condo. I will try to refrain from wishing bad things on the culprit but nope, it is not working. I feel bad for you with all you are going through. You work so hard and it is so unfair that the beotch took advantage of you and your DH.I want to rip her face off in the worst way.
Chrissy, send some cold air to the gals mentioned about. I miss you so much, I was talking to DH tonight and telling him about you and the cute story about your horns. I am glad that you got that taken care of. In your honor, I am going to try to visit the place where we first met which was outside the lounge, hope to find you there.
Gail, I will be thinking of you and praying that DH does not lose his job again. I love your pics and laughed at WD eating your pants. Oh, I could tell stories about my demon dogs. My issues were that I have carried treats in pockets....my robe, my jacket, my jeans...my little demons are so good at chewing holes through my clothes to look for any remnants of the goodies and they are very creative at finding ways to get to them. I also love SNL, it is so classic. I could go on and on about my fav's going back to the John Beluchi days.
Junie, stop in tonight, I still laugh when I think of you buying the big girl clothes for DH at Goodwill. And funny how the pics nes-appeared. I hope you are doing well. I sure do miss you gals. I have honestly not read all of the posts but do skim through them. My life is hectic again, not sure if good or bad but I miss you gals alot.
Kymn and Kristy, you girls are getting to the finish line and I think of you both often as you undergo your treatments. It is easy for me to say that you will be done soon since I am not going through what you are but I really do think of you gals often and pray that you get through your final treatments with ease.
Kymn, how is your team doing? I have been a hermit lately other than working and have not even been following now that my team is out. I will have to pop in and check on your boys before I go to bed.
Lori, I believe you said you were out of town for business? I hope all is well. I miss you too. Gosh I am sappy tonight. I have things going on with DD and DH and I am stuck in the middle. I would rather be in the middle of Pants and Hunk hehe.
I have to hit my bed soon, it is nearly 1am and my brain is speeding again but I will try to get to bed. I apologize to those I have missed. I have been so bad in reading your posts but promise I will ketch up. You all just need to stop writing until then lol.
On second thought, I think I will linger in the lounge and wait for my west coast girls to join me. I would love to talk to one of you girls one on one, too much happening, I had to pop a valium tonight and my brain is still racing to the point that I can not comprehend anything other than the fact that my fingers are typing, I miss you girls and wish I did not have to work tomorrow.
Peace to all of my lovely lady fwends. God Bless each of you. And me too, God, please? thank you. Ok, hittinig send and will wait for one of you to show up.
Best,
Dopey aka DorK

Ladies, hard to keep up!
Wanted to tell you about Bob Seger last night. Great concert. No big screens, no light shows, no flaming fireballs, just some "old time rock 'n roll. The kinda must just soothes the soul..." Way up in the cheap seats, but fun. Had 4 guys next to me (remember, I'm 50 yrs old with a bald head covered by a sexy new platinum blonde short-style wig) and they light up and offer me a joint! I politely declined (tempted, for medicinal purposes of course, but declined) and when my husband leaves dudring intermission to go to restroom, they ask "So, is it your 'old man' that doesn't smoke? 'cause you can have some!" HA! So funny.
Thursday night is Sheryl Crow with both daughters (25, 20). Am guessing that this crowd will be a little different? Probably no lighters above the heads, no doobies passed down the aisles. But we'll see. Fun week. Then chemo Friday. One step closer!

Yahoo, we got DorK here tonight too! Yay we're having a big par-tay that's gone way past Pau Hana. Trying to get risque wisque back but she has some tv show. So AStorm is cooking cheetos and broccoli, I know that's my fav, and Claire I think is bringing some good wine and somehow there is a chocolate moose involved...you reminded me I got a refill on my fukitols today, whew, was getting low, but now high! Glad you're here to Par-tay!!!

Dorothy, we bumped! But gives me a chance to add another thing I forgot (chemo brain-ha!)
We had tornado warnings today 3pm and the sirens went off and I had to help herd 250 MS/HS kids to locker rooms for 30 minutes. First I've had during school hours though tornadoes are semi-frequent in Nebraska. Kids responded pretty well and no damage or injuries. Just stressed out teachers (and one counselor!)

Husker is here too - woo hoo! And we are going to see you Friday for sure to put another notch in your gun! Yeah, one step closer!!! Hurray! Glad the music was good...care for any cheetos?

Oooops Claire, just read about Scots won't drink anything but what is produced in Scotland...maybe cuz we were Americanized for so long we would??? Sorry if I said a boo-boo I was thinking of us that are not so close to home, several generations away from the homeland. Also gotta ask, what is a utilikilt??
0 -
Well, I guess I'll turn out the lights...night night...but tomorrow, I'LL BE BAAAAAAACCCKKK!

Beans, just saw your post and went back to visit your earlier posts. I must say that you have shown me that a kilt can be might sexy. Loved your pics today and glad to see ya.
Kristy, great story about the Bob concert, I had to chuckle when I read about your swarm of boyfriends. It sounds like such a great concert. Glad all went well with your kids and more happy that you were not hit. I can't even imagine the fear. I hope you are done stressing over that. Hey, I was playing piano tonight, that is what I do when I NEED to escape life on this earth. I went to that other planet that is oh so pleasant.
Kymn, I just checked and see that your boys have advanced, I hope they bring the cup home for you, that would be sweet. I wish you all the best with your next treatment. I've missed you and can relate to not enough hours in the day. I will sure regret being here now when my alarm startles me at 5:45am, it is 1:25am already, ooopsies.
Don't leave Beans, I just had pants bring a bucket of dog beers for ya. Don't make me drink them myself, I hate seeing drinks go to waste.
Well, I am going to have some mousse, I need a sweet something b4 bed. Good night, for wheel dis time. Cheers and tittys up!

I guess I missed the party!!!
It rained all day here in Denver....its unusual that we get 24 hours of rain...but we really needed the moisture so I can't complain....but it was dampy and chilly out today.......
Looking forward of a day of hanging in the house tomorrow....need to organize my desk, do some cleaning and just putter in the house...the time will go quickly as I have after school car pool and that is at 2:30......I'mcooking dinner for a friend whose father passed away the other day....98 years old!!!! a long life!!!
DS is done school....his last final was today...he says he is mostly packed....but he's planning on celebrating his 22nd b'day.....he has about 24 hours till he has to head for the airport....was just "IMing" him and his message was, "I have everything under control"....sure....just like when he left for Hawaii and was still drunk when he left for the airport and forgot stuff at home...well this time there is no one to pick up the left over pieces.....and the bank of mom and dad is getting stricter.....I dread finding out his grades...when I asked him about them over the week-end he got annoyed with me.....this has not been one of his better years in school (well out of 2)...Sure hope he has a jjob to start before the end of the month....he worked at PETSMART for 2 years and they'll probably hire him back, but don't think he wants to go back, but a former boss is not at Office Depot and said he would hire him...DS also wants to apply at REI....This mom doesn't care as long as he's employed!!!! He loves to spend the money...... Will wait a couple more minutes till its the 12th here in Denver and text him happy b'day and then I'm getting in bed to read....oh yeah....and take my ambien and ativan....I get decent sleep with both of them together, but then again, in the morning I feel crappy!!! whats worse....waking up 4 or 5 times in as many hours or sleep soundly but wake up tired!!!!!
Will be back tomorrow for the next party!!!! Sweet dreams one and all.....Hugs....

Beanie-Happy B-day to your Dad! Definitely cause for a PARTAY! With lots of dogs beers, martinis and wine! All spiced up with Tabasco Sauce. Gives new meaning to the phrase getting sauced. And I always wondered if they actually wore anything under those kilts. Now we ALL know!
Claire-your self control amazes me-I would have peeked, church or no church!Wahine-thinking of working in Home Depot in 90 degree heat without AC makes me much more appreciative of the 50's and 60's with rain we're getting here. Much easier to warm up than cool off!
AStorm-good response to anyone who asks you to do something shady. Isn't it too bad when we feel we have to audit everyone around us to be sure we're getting what we really ordered? And your cilantro is bolting????? I'm just getting seeds started, to be ready to put out next month! JEALOUS!!! Cheetos and broccoli, hmm. Sounds good to me!
DorK-I had to stop putting treats in my pockets years ago for the very same reason. I had more holes in my pockets and clothes for a while! Very inconvenient at the time. Hope you got a good night's sleep and are ready and raring to go again this morning!
Husker! What a good time you had at the concert! I can just picture the scene you describe. What a trip!
Karen-no such thing as missing a partay here in the lounge, you just start another. I'll join you! Don't you hate the no-win sleep/tired thing? Enough to drive a woman to drink! I'm sure you'll be glad to get DS home, and it won't hurt him to have to take care of his own mess this time. Maybe he's learned something this last year? Anything's possible.

NM, nice to see you. Love the pic of the dog and the torn up bed. Been there done that lol.
Beans, Happy Birthday to your Dear Father.
I had 3.5 hours of sleep, uhh oh.
Stanize, what is your name?
Claire, have any chocolate mousse? I am having a choco craving.
Ok, off to work, I'd rather hang in the hammock and drink but must do the needful! peace girls!!

Just here for a sec...already too hot up here. Was researching netbook reviews to see which I want...was just too handy so want another like it.
NM, Loving the "kiltlifter" drink...what a riot!
DorK, Sorry you had such a bad night; glad the piano playing helped you escape to a better place! And it sucks to be between DH and DD....I forget how old your DD is. My mom dated my stepdad for NINE YEARS till I left home at 18 and got married. Good move on her part, as I would have butted heads with him, and he was such a sweet guy. They married almost 4 yrs after I did (right b4 I got divorced!), and had a wonderful "almost" 30 yrs together b4 he passed away at 91. If only you and DH could live apart till DD moves out, but that would prolly be hard to do. As for the pronunciation of "pau hana"....it would be Pow Hohnah (or pow honnah). Hope today goes well for you, you deserve a good day!!!
ChEARS, Cheetos (although I don't like the mess), Cheerio!

Wishing everyone a good Thursday...the week-end is almost here.....

Oh my gosh!!!!! I cannot possibly keep up you all have done 3 pages!!! Yikes. Love, Love, Love all the kitls. Claire I so do not believe you didn't lift the kilt in front of you - come on confess!! That would have been too much of a temptation and as you are still thinking of it I'm thinking there is a reason it stayed in your mind. LOL!
Well, I've been working like crazy and still not there yet and just heard from my ex that my DD's friends are bailing on her birthday party!!! Lovely! So will have to wait till she gets home to find out what is going on.
So got shocking news my choir director who I adore so much, dropped the bomb he is retireing in the fall! Well, I'm thinking it wasn't exactly his idea. It wouldn't be so bad except the priest who is also retired, when he came back he told Greg as long as he was at the church he would have a job as long as he wanted and could do the job. So he drives 45 min. to Greg's house to have a chat - hmmm I smell a rat. Anyway, he at least wants to go out with a huge Bang so that will be wonderful. Going to a 5 hour Opera tomorrow - 5 hours!!! Really.... at least it is at one of those Fork and Spoons so you can eat and drink while there but 5 hours, I really said that....
Gotta run but so want to catch up with everyone except the cheetos, and guacomole - that isn't grand but please don't hurt the chocolate mossee what did chocolate ever do to hurt anyone?? Please save the Mousse!!!! I'm so tired, was at Greg's house till very late so spelling is gone for me today....

ROFLMAO!!! You girlz are too funny! NM I gotta catch my breath! Tryin not to spit my coffee! That dog/bed pic - hahahahahahah! and those cheetos, leave it to you to find a way to get chocolate involved! All so funny! That kilt guy's got damn nice legs!
DorK - her name is Mitch!
Stanzie - I don't believe Claire didn't peek either!!! And I saved you some mousse!
Karen - I think the party is rolling right on into Fried-Day, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
OMG, just laughing too hard to comment on much else...Wishing everyone lots of cheetos, guacomole, chocolate moooooooose, and a barrel of KILTLIFTER DOTD's!!
