I really loved the time we stayed in Toronto for awhile....such an exciting city with lots to do! I like the diversity with the different ethnic neighborhoods, etc. My DH did not understand why I enjoyed lying face down on that glass at the top of the tower......looking straight down...but then he does not like heights! You live in a neat place Lilyn.

Um, Chrissy, "horns"???? Am I missing something here....as I can't quite picture what you are talking about. And they will "fall off" soon? I am confused. Ok now I get it, you are a devil when you are alone with Pants, is that it? Just kidding!

OK girlz I just noticed that some of our names are in blue and some in purple. Anyone know why? Should we make some drunken observations??? That has me puzzled, but then again, up here in the 91 degree temp, makes my mind sorta numb. Or is that the booze???

    TITZ UP!

OOOOh interesting observation, Kathy!!! now I wonder why also?

I love Toronto - my college roomate was living there and got married in Toronto at a beautiful Catholic church, cannot remember the name but her family is Irish and Scottish so it was a very fun reception that went on and one and was just grand. It is a beautiful city and very friendly.Did not see a building to lie face down and look at the cars and people in minature however..... Well, will have to go back!

I think the name changes color (to purple) if you click on it, for example, if you go to the person's profile to send an IM. It's like when you click on a URL... the name changes color.

DD asked to see my prom pix today... they are in storage but I'll probably be digging them out if it helps her mood.

Quick pop in for a couple of dog beers.....the B&B has unexpected, but welcome company.   And today--power outage and no internet for most of the day....grrrrrrr.

Goodwill story for y'all......my DH birthday is Oct 31.   Some years ago we rented our clubhouse and had a costume party--Best of Sat Nite Live theme.   I went as the Anal Chef and DH was Julia Child.   And, bless his heart--he did wear a wig; a blouse; fake boobs under the blouse; a skirt; an apron; and the requisite strand of pearls around his neck!   He did totally refuse to shave his legs, wear hose and heels!!!!   But....

Goodwill is where I went for his "costume".   I finally found a blouse and a skirt that I thought was big enough to go around him (he's rather portly).    So, I'm standing in line and finally the clerk rings up my purchases.  She holds them up to fold before putting in a bag and when she held up the skirt--she looked at me (I'm about a size 4 or 6) and says, "Obviously, this skirt isn't for YOU."  and without thinking, I replied, "No, It's for my husband."..........you could have heard a pin drop!!!!      sigh......we took a lot of pics at that party and some videos......I've never been able to find them....wonder why?????

taking my dog beers out to the pool.   Hope Pants will light the fire pit.   We've finally had to turn on our A/C and although it helps me breath better, I hate having the house all shut up again and my feet are cold!

Happy Hump Day to my loungie friends!!!!!

Oh yeah Kathy, I sure am a wittle debil with Pants!......how did you find out?....were you spying on us the other night?.....oooo.....bad girl!, bad, bad girl !

I've had these things growing on my scalp for a few months now and the biggest was just starting to poke through my hair pretty much inline with the centre of my eye about 1/2 an inch from my hairline and reminded me of a budding horn......lol.  Gosh that was long winded!...anyway, they get very itchy and sensitive and I wasn't sure what they were and I wanted to make sure they weren't mets so I went to the dermatologist.  To cut a long story short, (now she does that! yeah right!)  She called them Seborrhoeic Keratosis and they are easily removed by dry ice burning and that's what she did.

Wow, what an explanation!  It would have been easier to tell the whole story in the first place....lol

Mmm, buy the way, those pink bikinis aren't bad so I think I'll head outdside to the hammocks and get the boys to keep 'em coming........yahoooo!

    Good morning friends,

Junie, I lmao at your goodwill story. You crack me up.

Chrissy, glad your horns are gone and that it was easy.

I have behind in reading, working long hours now, things are picking up at work. My personal appraisal came back yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised at my home value. I will close late this week or early next week. Yippie!

I miss you ladies, hope to find time to hit the lounge and stay for a bit. I miss that darn hammock, would love to fall alsleep with a drink in my hand now.

Have a great day girls!  Peace love and tits up!

Oh Junie, that's so funny! I love Best of SNL theme - DH is a huge fan. In fact, he has dressed as several of Mike Myer's characters but never a woman. One year he was Beetlejuice (I was Lydia) ... Goodwill of course... we went out to dinner with friends before going to a big party and Beetlejuice scared a little boy and made him cry. I just love the whole costume thing. We used to have a big costume party every Halloween but have been too busy in the past few years.

    I'm drinking her favorite cocktail:

    Upside-Down Martini

    3/4 ounce gin

3 3/4 ounces Noilly Prat vermouth

    Lemon twist, for garnish.

Combine the gin and vermouth in a mixing glass with ice and stir. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with the lemon twist. (Alternatively, you can serve it on the rocks; combine the ingredients in a rocks glass with ice, garnish and serve.)

    Yield: 1 serving.

I guess she liked vermouth... Make mine a triple and skip the vermouth, please.

Dorthy - I think the hammock is free. How do you like your martinis?

Kathy - the more I drink the funnier I get...

I left a pair of jeans on the bathroom floor yesterday (shame on me) and WD ate them! He has been known to nosh on panties so we are pretty careful with our clothes, but... yuck!

... waiting for a big announcement from DH's employer ... hope he doesn't get laid off again.

Junie, OMG I can just picture you saying that to the cashier!! What fun parties you have had, and Gail has had too. I think you two should head up our parties here....then who knows how they will end up!!! LOL. Neat stories. Love your pic Gail...."Keep your weiner in your pants"....LOL. And the drunk with food stuck all over......cute!!!

Just saw on GMA they had such cute furbabies they had rescued from Alabama, up for adoption in New York. Brought 78 there ,and another van here today getting more. Apparently, because so many pets got displaced by the tornadoes, like their owners did, the shelters needed to keep the pets there for them so they can reclaim them when they are able to. SO, the animals up for adoption would have had to be euthanized, so they said, so those are the ones they rescued. BUT we have a lot of rescue groups here who do go to the shelters and rescue the adoptable dogs and keep them for people to adopt. But either way, I am glad they took them there and hope they will get good homes...the ones they had on tv were SOOOOOO adorable!!!!

Chrissy, Thank you for 'splainin' that....had NO idea what you were talking about before!! Glad the derm was able to take care of them for you!! But what a story that is.....you could really have fun with that.

Gail, I thought that too....that those that you had clicked on for PM's, etc, changed color. BUT I have pm'd some that are still purple, and some that are blue. ????

OK...too hot to write too long up here...lots to do....will have to tell you how our extenant is trying to scam FEMA now....and want us ALL to pay for her to live free....sheesh. Those that cheat, lie, and steal sure know all the ropes and just feel the world should support them. Maybe that bad karma will kick her in the butt afterall.

    To SNL!!!!

Oh AStorm, I hope your husband isn't laid off - Oh not good! Love the pictures though!!

Junie!!! So hilarious! Love that story, thanks! My on and off again has been known for Halloween Costume contests at his job to dress up in female attire. He won 1st place for who he called Babett - sort of a french maid type, then I helped him dress up as one of the dancing Hippo's from Fantasia ( yes Portly is a good word to describe body type) he won for that as well, but people thought he was Anglina Balarina.... don't they know what a mouse's tail and ears look like? Then lastly dressed up up as a pretty fabulous witch beauty queen with a sash saying Miss Fit. Get it?? Well, someone with just a plain ol'store bought costume won so he decided to give up for a while.

Chrissy - so glad it was something easy to fix and take care of! But horns LOL!

AStorm, So happy we will get to see pictures!!!! Oh Boy. So your DD is still in a funk? Why doesn't she like the dress, I assume she picked it out? Boy your WD must have some teeth for jeans!!!

    Hi everyone.....

Just catching up as was beyond fried last night.  I came back from the conference and worked my tail off ending yesterday noon.  Then I caught up on housework/laundry which I hadn't had time to do.  Sheets were ready to walk on their own.

All went well with the final report, but was painful getting there.  Thrilled to be done.

Yesterday, everything hurt.  Was thinking the Arimidex, but more generic fried-ness.  I used the long walk, good dinner, and early to bed cure.

Loving all the stories here.  Chrissy.....am growing horns too, but of a different kind.

Gail, good luck with DH.  I have been there.  No fun at all wondering if it is your turn this time.

Now to get back to the other work I pushed aside.  But after a good breakfast/exercise. - Claire

Kathy - I think the "F" in FEMA is for "Federal"... I'd say the karma is on its way.

Claire - I've been using the exam as an excuse not to do laundry and a miraculous event has occurred - my daughters figured out how to use the machines! Sorry you are so tired... hope you feel better this morning. So far the news from DH's office is just about cost cutting, which shouldn't be a serious threat to his position because that is what he does (not lay offs, but negotiating with suppliers, advertisers, etc.). The last thing you want to do to cut costs is lay off a good negotiator! Anyway, he is finally thinking about a Plan B which I think is a good idea for anyone these days.

Well I'm supposed to go to San Franscisco tomorrow but I just got an email from the client's CPA and he wants me to make what appear to be bogus journal entries to improve their Q4/10 income statement. There is no backup and he is affecting accounts that have been reconciled so I'm not sure what the plan is... it will just be reversed when I reconcile January. Not to mention that I don't want to be associated with anything untoward. The accountant is "old school" ... like back when ethics were less defined. I rescheduled another client and I'm taking extra time away from studying to deal with this client... wondering if I should just walk away...

Whoa - I'd say Walk and then Run Away! Yikes!

Grrrr I'm not having fun at all..... there is a leak in my AC - probably somewhere in the walls!!!! Not funny, It already cost me a fortune just to put in lots of freon and he had some weird stuff that goes in and like fixing a flat may help stop the leak and then he had to bail out all the gallons of water from the pan up in the attic so labor costs.... Ugh. Then found out my mantle is coming away from the wall and will have to be fixed and while he was here ( my contractor) found two of the flat roofs need to be redone.... Can I go hide under a rock now till it is all over and someone else pays for all this!!!

Shoot (really mean $hit) Stanzie! I know the feeling of having no a/c, as our "new" upstairs heat pump has been turned off since September. Was really cold up here, and now super hot. HOPING you can get yours fixed without a small fortune, and BEFORE the really hot weather hits. Also, I think we're having rain the next few days, so hoping you don't have damage (leaks) where your roofs need replacing. WHen we were working on the condo yesterday I noticed a large stain on the cathedral ceiling at the top of the fireplace, and also large stain (and mold?) in small bedroom closet. GOOD THING is the roof leaks, etc are the assn's responsibility, BAD THING is that it will be hard to rent it before being fixed. DH is trying to get the plumber to install new hot water heater asap, but has been calling him all day....thats what I hate, not only the cost of repairs, but taking forever to reach repair people and then getting fit into their busy schedule. And then you hope they do good work. Apparently when the closet was repaired 2 yrs ago the guy did a shitty job since it has still leaked through.

Gail, Glad your DH's job doesn't seem to be in jeopardy. What a scare though!

Beans, How are your appts going???? Miss you, so post asap okay????

Everyone else, a big shout out to you all...... BOTTOMS UP!!!

OK, I need advice!!!!! Found out through my son that the last birthday party my DD went to was up at a lake house with a bunch of girls and her parents had friends stay over as well. Turns out the girls got into the Vodka at some point and parents never knew!!! So some of those same girls are coming to my DD 's party this Friday.... I will lock up the liquor but acutally there is a lot - you know stuff you don't use often like Liquors, think I need to find someplace for ALL of it? They are only 12!!!! Mine tunrs 13. She told my son she did not join in but ??? Not good....

Stanzie, My opinion (for what its worth), is....YES....lock up all of it, or hide it in your bedroom closet...somewhere they would not be able to sneak into. Because, even if your DD did not drink, if anyone else does and has an accident or gets into trouble, YOU would be held responsible. I would also try to subtlely (sp?) check with them often, and make sure they did not sneak any liquor into your house.

Stanzie - you aren't having a good day are you? My DD went to a party at that age and when I was on my way to pick her up the mother of the boys who were having the party called my cell to warn me that my DD was drunk. My reaction was not to blame the parents -- I was just so upset and she was upset and she kep telling me that most of the kids were drunk and that another girl (whose father is a known alcoholic) brought the booze and one of the boys (twins) who were hosting the party drinks all the time and gets stoned... and the worst part was when I talked to the boys' father the next day the story was that my daughter brought the alcohol to their house and they were pissed at ME and wanted me to know that they don't allow this in their home. Don't know how she could have managed that as I took her to the party and she didn't have a backpack or anything... think I would have noticed her carrying a bottle of vodka. After I got off the phone and dragged my hungover kid out of bed, she gave me enough specific details to confront them, of course, explaining that as a parent I can uderstand that we do our best to teach our children about risky behavior but still these things can happen in anyone's home... Their stoner son got grounded for the entire summer and had his PC and phone taken away. After that I put the booze in a box in the trunk of my car whenever there was a large group of kids in the house. We never heard another word about alcohol until a couple of years ago when she stole the champagne. I bought a beverage refrigerator and put a lock on the liquor cabinet, but there is alcohol in my kitchen that I use for cooking, and not all my wine fits in the refrigerator so there are usually a few bottles in the pantry or the beverage refrigerator that doesn't have a lock. I think if they want to get booze they are going to get it somewhere. I just don't want to be the parent that looks the other way. Fortunately she got really drunk and sick and puked for about 24 hours, plus she felt really guilty about humiliating me.  ... you're welcome to stash the booze in the HTL bus... probably wouldn't be safe there though

oh, good point about sneaking it into your house... once when DD had a party some boys showed up with water bottles filled with something (not water). I asked her who they were and she said she hardly knew them and didn't invite them so we asked them to call their parents to come get them but they just left instead. It's hard when there is a slumber party cuz they bring in overnight bags which could be used to stash contraband.

Wow.....I missed all that by not being a parent.  Can you have a neighbor keep the stash for a day or 2 until the party is over?

Gail......Ethics is one place where I wouldn't budge.  Then there is Sarbanes-Oxley, which even if it doesn't apply directly, should set the tone.  No, you can't cook the books.  You are also liable if audited, and trust me, they are looking for every bit of possible tax revenue these days.  Your client can walk away, but I suspect they will stay.  This is a case of setting boundaries, and adhering to ethical standards is one of them.

I am fine.  Still catching up on stuff.  Need to write out checks and pay bills.  Can't imagine why I am procrastinating on that one????

Sleep is wonderful.  I think my learning is that I need it to keep from having typical anastrazole symptoms.  Literally everything ached yesterday.  But am fortunate in that I sleep well.  Especially, if I get enough exercise.

I think I am getting too picky on quality of wine, or at least that was an observation from the conference.

Anyway, need to plan out a get-away for 10 days hence.  Need to see a new place (via bicycle!) and stay energized.  Should be great fun.

    BottomZ up everyone. - Claire

I have been so busy these last few days, working and trying to get everything done that needs to be before I head back into the chair. I am sooooo dreading it, trying to think of some way out of it I just want to stay feeling like me. Maybe I will luck out and my blood count will be too low and I will get an extra week of normalicy ( somewhat ). anyhow I am at work but wanted to say I think about you all so often I just seem to be runnning out of time these days.

    Hi LadieZ,

This is even better than Fukitol.  Just yummy.  I served with fresh raspberries and vanilla whipped cream.  I added some brandy and a bit more sugar.  Would have used Grand Marnier if I had any in the house. - Claire

    Chocolate Mousse

Make 2x recipe and use one bar of Lindt Dark

    Ingredients

    • 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
    • 1 tablespoon water
    • 1 egg yolk, lightly beaten
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 1/2 cup whipping cream (I didn't double this.  3/4 cup for twice the recipe.)
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • Whipped cream
    •

    Directions

    1.     In a small heavy saucepan, melt chocolate chips with water over
low heat; stir until smooth. Stir a small amount of hot chocolate mixture into
egg yolk; return all to the pan, stirring constantly. Cook and stir for 2
minutes or until slightly thickened. Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla.
    Cool, stirring several times.

    2.     In a mixing bowl, beat whipping cream until it begins to
thicken. Add sugar; beat until soft peaks form. Fold in cooled chocolate
mixture. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Garnish with whipped cream
    if desired.

I would make the day before if possible.

Kymn - so good to see you! One more visit to the chair gets you closer to the finish line...

Claire - Exactly! There are red flags all over... not the least of which is that they will be turning a loss into a profit (big no-no). Penalties are outrageous (max is $15M for the firm but there is also prison time). I told the client that I will not post any journal entries, I will only do reconciliations of the general ledger to supporting documents, then give them the schedules and proposed entries to correct their books. I keep copies of the working papers and of their trial balance before adjustments and the software keeps track of who posted entries and when.

Hi Gail: I have lived through being on the wrong side of a corporate audit.  Nothing I did personally, but something I should have known about.  Some of my direct reports had been given inappropriate direction by a former manager.  Nothing like misrepresenting funds, but something about who signs what.

I'll take chemo over that experience.

For anyone who gets stuck that way, the only thing to do is suck it up, accept responsibillity, and fix it as soon as possible.  I worked with someone and all was OK in 4 months.  But a major, major lesson to check what is going on.

The worst part was that I sat each one of the four people down and explained the deal and they STILL did this.  I had to write "letters of concern" to get their attention as of course what they had been doing was easier than following corporate policy. - Claire

Boy, there are times I'm glad I never had kids, hearing the drinking stories is one of them!  Seriously lock up everything and wander around taking drinks from random bottles, cups, glasses, etc all evening just to be sure.  Maybe even set an alarm for 2 am and take a walk around to see what's going on?  Do you have enough time to buy a couple of the cheapie, battery powered brethalizer thingys to make every play with?  Or would that be going too far?

The Chocolate Mousse recipe sounds very, very yummy!  Gonna have to try that sometime soon.

Tonight I'm pigging out on Cheetohs.  I've been craving them, saw a bag on sale, so here I am munching away.  Too tired to resist, I guess.  I will be very glad when I get done orientation and start working weekends.  Work 2 1/2 days, make a boatload of money.  I just am NOT used to working on a set schedule so many days in a row, I guess.  This steady work thing is taking too much time away from the Lounge!

AStorm--way to stick to your guns, girl!  You might want to keep a record of the conversations you have had with this person about this in a private file.  That way you will have a record of what was asked of you and what you agreed or refused to do, just in case there are any questions later.  Sounds like a good customer to lose, to me.

Ok, I'm going to wander around drinking whatever the Tenders hand to me and catch up with everyone that I haven't said hello to in a while.  Then I'm going to park in a hammock and snooze for a while.  Yawn.

LOL Beans, sounds like you are definately in a PARTAY mood! Fun! Sorry your dad is not here anymore.....must have been a great guy, and sounds good to celebrate his birthday tomorrow. My DD's friend teaches music but also plays in a celtic band....such neat music. And I will never forget the answer I got when I sat next to a scotish man and just HAD to ask what is worn under his kilt! Love all your fun partay pics and esp the "One tequila, Two tequila,Three tequila, Floor"! What shall we bring to the party??? Happy Happy Birthday to your Dad!!

Stanzie, sounds like we are all pretty much in agreement that you should lock up or hide your liquor! Better safe, than sorry, esp when kids are concerned. I think "12 or 13" might be the new "15" or "16".....sounds like what I would have done at 16!  Kids are just doing things so much younger these days. Remember, YOU are in charge, and can set the rules.

Had a nice steak dinner at my parents...Seagrams/Diet Coke, then merlot with dinner....then had to go to Home Depot really late to pick up supplies for tomorrow. It was so HOT in there at 9pm, and then I found out they STILL do not have a/c....haven't gotten it working again since our tornadoes on April 27! I could not even think in there, and felt sorry for the employees....I would have had to call in sick....too hard to work in that heat.

Well Chica Babes, Lovely Ladies, and of course, my Breast Friends....have a lovely evening! I forgot it was Hump Day today.....seems like I am behind on EVERYTHING lately!!

LOL Claire! Actually, my dad's cousin said they go to Fiddler's Field...then he dropped his body too, same year also in his 90's...such neat old people. My dad was older when I was born..."will never see the likes of him again!"

Fiddler's Green is a legendary imagined afterlife, where there is perpetual mirth, a fiddle that never stops playing, and dancers who never tire.

I grew up with kilts and bagpipes so I absolutely adore! Never got to Edinburg though...sounds cool!
