Deb, you know I've just been through this thyroid thing and I can answer a lot of questions you might have - just pm me. Hugs & pos vibes coming your way. The no iodine diet was the worst part of the RAI for me. The surgery was in & out of the hosp in 24 hours. Nothing like bc.
For the rest of you...I'm bringing the music!

I can't get my image to post....URGH!
I think I got it!!!!0 -
Your links can't be on your personal computer (c:\documents...). YOu have to post your files on the internet somewhere for them to be acessible. Hugs

Thanks Jasmine...I'm trying!

Your internet provider probably has some storage space set aside for your use. Find out where that is and copy your file there and then you can link to it.

can you please tell us about the non iodine diet??
thanks0 -
Weird Kim - it shows up when I hit the reply button and scroll down. I was gonna say, I had some show up like that last week and it was that I had made them too small.
edit: now it is showing on the thread???0 -
Okay...I've been with you girls for how long now and it took me like an hour to post my Bruce pic...but I finally did it. I feel like I need a drink!
Elf...I did the non-iodine diet for 10 days prior to my radioactive iodine treatment for thy ca in June. I had to eat only fresh fruit, veggies & meats that I prepared for myself. I could use non-iodized salt for flavor (it is not a no salt diet). You can only have 30 - 40 mg of iodine per meal. That equated to a snack bag of carrots prepackaged from the grocery store. I just avoided anything prepared: nothing boxed, bagged, canned, frozen or wrapped. No dairy, no eggs, no bread products from the bakery isle. No chocolate or sweets. For breakfast I was able to find some shredded wheat at the Natural Foods store that had no iodine. I was able to snack on unsalted peanuts and/or fruit. Lunch was unsalted peanut butter on unsalted rice cakes. Bland and blah, but the 10 days went pretty quickly. Dinner was easier as I would cook chicken or a small amount of lean beef on the grill with non-iodized salt & some potatoes (no skin allowed). Veggies were fine at any time except spinach. I made my own dressings from the thy ca website and had a lot of salad.
That's about it...like I said, bland & blah, but it went pretty fast.

Hope everyone plans on an early start tomorrow a.m.---gotta be at the surgery center by 7. Crawling into my sleeping bag with a Lunesta and a book---think I'll sleep?
Jeannie0 -
Jeannie - we'll all be there. If the doc is disturbed by our presence, tell him you're not going without us. Sweet dreams. Listen to the sounds of late summer, the Cicadas making sweet music and your sisters humming along.

Hi All, Well I'm here for the overnight shift. Wow, so much has happened today. Hope you don't mind but I stopped by the chuck wagon and grabbed some grub before I took on my shift......my compliments to all of the cooks, everything was delicious. And Shel, I ate your share of the squash, it was really good. Oh, did the dishwasher ever get around to washing the dishes or has he been umm.......too busy?
Debby, I'm so sorry about your news, but you know that we are holding you close in our circle, you are in my prayers.
Jeannie, I hope that everything goes great tomorrow, it sounds like the news that you got was a little better than before. I'm here all night keeping guard, and keeping the beast away, you'll have to let me sleep on the way to the surgery tomorrow, but I'll be there holding your hand.
Nan, Nothing has happened to Rachel, the thread that you are talking about in the Inspiration/Prayer Forum was started in early 2005. Rachel is RoxwooodAgain, she's still around. She was posting in the Debate Forum today, I think or yesterday.
Oh and btw Nam, I have the same problem as you are having on this site only. I have a little yellow caution symbol that says, Done, but with errors on page. It is on every page on this site, but like with you, I'm only having it on this site. I don't know why either?
Vickie, I am so sorry that there has been no news on Trenton, but you are all in my prayers. I'm so sorry, I cannot imagine how difficult this is for you all.
I hope all of our sisters in the circle are resting well tonight, and that tomorrow will be a better day for you all.
Love and Hugs,
JoJo0 -
I ahve been away from the circle all day! Is there any food left? Anyone got any cat food too?
I am glad to see Brenda back! SO happy you could get back on!!!
Debby, it will be ok! You can handle this. YES YOU CAN!
Jeannie, prayers and strength being sent to you for an easy time tomorrow. May you only have good news tomorrow!!!
While I was out I stopped by the General Store and picked us up some down comforters to keep us warm as these nights get cooler...
I have a selection of soothing teas for the girls who need some soothing and peace...
I got more chocolate... so many kinds I can't even list them...
And a guide to the stars... it lists what stars are visible each night so we can look for them when we can't sleep or are up late having a cozy talk or sing along.
on duty...
but I have to eat first.. please someone tell me there is something other than squash??0 -
I was going to offer the Red Curry Chicken I made tonight, but guess what? It has green beans, onion, broccoli and YELLOW SQUASH, ZUCCHINI- sorry to the squash haters. Everything tastes good with red curry and coconut milk.
Sleep tight sweet sisters. Tomorrow the sun will come up and we will be grateful for another day. I hope it is a peaceful one for all.0 -
I want to offer this song up, even if you are not a Fanilow, Barry says it so well.
I Made It Through The Rain
Barry Manilow
We dreamers have our ways
Of facing rainy days
And somehow we survive
We keep the feelings warm
Protect them from the storm
Until our time arrives
Then one day the sun appears
And we come shining through those lonely years
I made it through the rain
I kept my world protected
I made it throught the rain
I kept my point of view
I made it through the rain
And found myself respected
By the others who
Got rained on too
And made it through
When friends are hard to find
And life seems so unkind
Sometimes you feel so afraid
Just aim beyond the clouds
And rise above the crowds
And start your own parade
'Cause when I chased my fears away
That's when I knew that I could finally say
I made it through the rain
I kept my world protected
I made it throught the rain
I kept my point of view
I made it through the rain
And found myself respected
By the others who
Got rained on too
And made it through
We have all been "rained on" Remember you are protected, by the others who, got rained on too and made it through.0 -
Good Morning All: The early morning shift has arrived and is ready. Coffee is brewing over the campfire. Most of our sisters are sleeping. The sun is just about to have its first peak over the horizon.
Jeannie: I'm especially thinking of you this morning. Ya gotta be scared, but dont worry sister, we are with you all the way. So doing the biopsy, just remember we are standing around you and I will be holding your hand.
Debbyfive: Im sending you healing light. Yet another battle to fight. But we will be there for you. My friend has hyperthyroid and a goiter. They also gave her the iodine treatment. And she did very well. But waiting until December is the pits. Did they tell you what % of the carotid aretery is blocked? Sometimes, there is a simple procedure to repair this. So Im just wondering what they are recommending for you.
Mena: How are you doing hun. I hope today is a good day for you.
Robin: From someone who had taxotere - hugs. But you will get through this. We are right beside you. Making sure you feel loved, warm, and comfortable along the way.
To all my other sisters, and there are so many of you, who are having difficult times, Im so glad you are here with us. We are strong in numbers and that gives us power. Whatever we can do to help. We will be there.
Well, my stomach is grumbling. Think Im gonna make an old fashioned breakfast. Start with bacon - oh I know its bad for you, but every once in a while ya gotta cheat. And nothing smells better than fresh bacon cooking over a campfire. Finish it over with some eggs, grits for our southern sisters, and fresh fruit.
Good morning all my sisters. Hoping today is a good day.
Nicki0 -
Good morning Nicki. Did someone mention chocolate? Time for my choco coffee. And I'm a bit Fanilow!
0 -
Good morning Jasmine. Well I just finished the pot of coffee. Chocolate just sounds to good. I think Im gonna take a hike and get a Mocha frappachino from Starbucks.
Ahh, I see slowly but surely, the smell of bacon cooking in the air is stimulating some of our sisters to come to the circle. Sleepy eyes and all.
Jeannie - sending lots of power, love, and hope getting through the biopsy.
Nicki0 -
I just have to ask myself one question. Why Oh Why while I am on vacation, do I still get up at 5am. I must be a crazy women.
Oh and Jasmine, today no doctor appt, so I wont be chewing the grass.
Nicki0 -
Okay, I still don't get the grass thing. But I can tell you why I still get up at 5 am on the weekends. Its because my dog has no clue on the difference between 'workday' / 'no workday'.
She insists we rise and shine regardless. What we do for our pets!0 -
Jasmine: There are lot of things you can do with grass. Sitting my a campfire and chewing on an overgrown piece. Of course there are all different kinds. Some you can put in brownies, some you can dry and smoke. All different kinds lol.
Nicki0 -
I NEED CHOCOLATE...HOT CHOCOLATE..CHOCOLATE DONUTS...CHOCOLATE ANYTHING!
whew...worked to many hours this week with too little sleep. Up for my shift, circling slowly around our wagons keeping the beast away for all our girls today.0 -
<hands vickie some choco coffee and the dunkin donuts box>
0 -
thanks Jasmine...rough night! Sending postive thoughts and prayer out to Jeanne for B9 results today!!! Robin...I had the taxotere too along with adriamiacin and cytoxin but made it through ok. Mena...hope your having a great day...Nicki...GRASS, do you think it would make me sleep if I chewed on it long enough or since I am craving chocolate maybe some in my brownies LOL!
0 -
I'm right behind you to starbucks, lead on my very favorite friend who knows whare a starbucks is out in the wilderness,,, maybe another virtual place... sounds soooooo good to me.
So does the old fashioned breakfast..
Only I put peanut butter and sugar in my grits (not a southern girl at all, from Cali)
I couldn't hardly sllep last night thinking about all of our girls, their appts and general well being..
I hate what this beast does to our psyche~!~!
just vera0 -
I'll make the brownies, and I'll add a few nuts too~!~!
just vera0 -
<Standing behind vera as she whips up the brownies hoping I can look pitiful enough and she will let me lick the spoon or the bowl> Nothing like a kid at heart. Then again you are only as old as you act.
Keeping everyone in my thoughts today and sending positive energy to all the women. We cant let this nasty beast win,, we wont we just wont do it.
The bacon smell got me up and moving this morning for sure. It actually got my little dog up and moving and when he decides its time to get up there is no changing his mind. I hope my dear friends bring me back some starbucks coffee since they left out before I was up and moving. I like a little coffee with my cream just in case you are wondering.
I can mix up a batch of fresh biscuits if we need those this morning also. I also have fresh apple butter if anybody is interested.
Awww the smell of fall is in the air. Those down comforters will really come in handy. I hope the rain stays away or we will be stringing tarps around our campfire to be able to stay dry and still be able to socialize.
Amy0 -
Be careful with those brownies Amy...they will most likely pack quite a punch!!!
I am soooo not ready for fall. I love summer! We are under flood warnings again for this weekend thanks to dear Ernesto...hopin my wagon will float, someone may have to lend me an anchor.0 -
I would love to get some rain here. Send some of that my way.
0 -
You East coast ladies are going to be ready for lunch soon, but I want dibs on a strip of bacon for breakfast
I just got back with Starbucks for all...and chocolate covered coffee beans. I just LOVE those things. I will be in and out today, but will be thinking of all the crew that needs prayers, healing light and CHOCOLATE!!
Hugs,
Deb C,0 -

Wow, that is a gorgeous area to live!
0 -
Yes...we sit on top of the hill overlooking the lake and the city of Ithaca...It's very hilly here and I love it.
0 -
candles for all our sisters having test, biopsies, surgeries, chemo, rads or just a plain old bad day.

Big hugs
Vickie0 -
i also love those chocolate covered beans from starbucks. Talk about an energy shot. I could have used those on Sunday and Monday when I was dragging about letting chemo take control over me.
Nice place newvickie. Do you have a window seat?
We saved you plenty of bacon Deb. Might even be enough for us to have BLT's for lunch.
Amy0 -
Hey Newvickie---you're up by Rogan's Corner! My niece went to IC as a vocal performance major, her hubby as a stage performance major and my daughter started out (in desperation upon asrrival) at Franco's as a bus girl. Three weeks later they gave her the keys and she was assistant manager! Her now hubby managed the pizza place at Rogan's. Sure is a beautiful place to work!
0 -
Hey Silvergirl!!!
Your home!!! How did it go? I've been thinking of you all day.
Yes, I work just above Ithaca College and Rogans Corners. We have students here that volunteer all through the school year...it's great.
Hope your doing well...B9B9B9B9B9B9...they are supposed to let you know today correct?
Still looking for someone to go to the fair...I am determined...maybe I'll even try it alone, just me and my little guy.
Hugs,
Vickie0 -
Hey Amy...no window seat for me. Got stuck with an interior office thats more like a cave with florescent lighting. I did make them repaint a year of so ago and insisted on one red wall...I got it too!! I do have all the photo's of the different gorges and falls on my walls so I can pretend.
0 -
No window seat for me either. I just have to pretend that I know whats going on in the outside world. Sometimes I hear a noise and wonder if it was thunder or something else. Here lately there has been no rain so I knew it wasnt thunder. Maybe one day I can get a window seat but right now I am content to pretend like I know what is going on outside.
Hope everyone has a great weekend and hope to hear some good results from silvergirl.
Amy0 -
KEY LIME PIE COOKOFF!!! Any takers? LOL I do make an awesome one, if I say so myself. Florida girl here! And there's nothin' better eatin' than a mess of crabs or shrimp, soee hush puppies, and a key lime pie
0 -
Ummmmm....I brought by some brownies...but I have to run. Having dinner with an old girl-friend. We haven't seen eachother in 3 years. Hopefully the DH remembers to feed our little one! Seriously!!!

0 -
Oh my! Keylime pie. You have my interest. I just love it. So I thought maybe tonight I could make some Lobster and shrimp spaghetti sauce. Its an Italian favorite. Use LInguine noodles. And then have some nice wine. Of course finish it off with brownies.
Sorry, Im not sharing the keylime pie lol. Call me a hoggie selfisher.
Nicki0 -
Silvergirl, Debbiefive, RobinTN, Mena, Amy and every body else,
Nothing makes me feel better than chocolate.
Unlesss it is Chocolate and Roses
OR a Chocolate Fountain
WOOHOO!!
Susan0 -
LObster and shrimp spaghetti sauce! My mouth waters.
All I can get here are prairie oysters.
J.0 -
bjalexandria...I'm coming to Florida next Saturday for a week with my daughter and son in law...staying at Cocoa Beach and planning on eating all the crab, shrimp and lobster I can get my hands on.
Thinking tonight I'll sit on the confused couch and eat with Nicki...sounds delicious, then I'll head to see Susan for CHOCOLATE!!! I'll bring the roses, I have a garden full!0 -
Newvickie, your workplace is beautiful!
0 -
Thanks Susan...I really like it there and love all our residents, they have treated me like a granddaughter throughout all of my bc journey.

Phoooey, phooey and c***! I wrote you guys the longest e-mail and lost it-----stupid pain meds.
Tonite's menu is the best yet. Am I the only one who has wondered if we should make our own cookbook? The BC Wagontrain Cookbook. It wouldn't even have to be 1000 Ways to Cook Organic Cabbage, Broccolli and Brussels Sprouts (unless, of course, you know a good way to do that.)
I retired from a large company that still lets us pick our Christmas present from a list of 70 items every year. One of them this year is a chocolate fountain! So not practical but I think I'm done with practical. Chocolate orgy at my house in December! That is a tad too long to wait for dessert so I'll bring a Mocha Cappuccino Cheesecake for dessert tomorrow nite. Or whenever my eyes decide to focus again.
So many of you wonderful ladies pm'd me and asked me to let them know how it went but I am having some difficulty seeing after this a.m.'s biopsy so will give you the abbreviated version here. If you're squeemish or still eating key lime pie stop reading here. I won't go into the gory details but it IS my eye.
Didn't have full two weeks (try 2 days) to get aspirin and Motrin out of my system so bleeding was a problem---had to make what amounts to little teeny episiotomies in my lids to relieve pressure so I look like the loser in a hatchet fight. No real pain but I'm seeing double so keep the bad eye closed since it only opens about 1/4" anyway. Should start improving Monday or Tuesday. Lab was backed up due to holiday weekend so no results this afternoon despite onc's request. I have to go back to eye surgeon early Tuesday but doubt he will have them either. (Have to go to pre-op workup for second revisions Tuesday afternoon---beginning to feel like 40 miles of bad road.) Surgeon says it is definitely tumor but there are lots of different kinds of benign eye tumor. Onc says could be lymphoma---never thought I'd see the day when I'd pray for a lymphoma but they are infinitely easier to get rid of.
I felt all of you wonderful ladies following me around this a.m.---at one point thought of you all and started to cry---but salty tears help to dry the wounds! This thread just gets better and better---you have no idea how invaluable you all are when you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. Hope I can occassionally help you all too---even if it is with just a well placed stupid remark.
Keeping busy this weekend---going to see the new great nephew in Ithaca this weekend and take my daughter out for her birthday---have warned her about the hatchet fight thing, she'll probably freak anyway. Then Monday it's the closing day of the Great New York State Fair---usually an excuse to look at the cute bunnies, drink the best chocolate milk you have EVER tasted, watch horse shows and eat Italian sausage! Doc says it's OK as long as I wear a hat and sunglasses to keep sun/dust out of my eye.
Sleep well everyone. Let the crickets sing you a lullabye.
Jeannie0 -
Jeannie...still praying for you honey...Your going to be in Ithaca this weekend, right where I work!!! Still working on seeing you at the fair. (I soooo love the horse shows and the chocolate milk).
You are in our circle of protection tonight so you sleep well knowing that we are keeping you safe and sound.
Hugs
Vickie0 -
Silvergirl
Did you get an opportunity to email that bc sister I sent you?0 -
You've talked about so many good things, but I will admit, the chocolate is what finally drew me in. Has anyone tried the Hershey's extra dark chocolate with macadamia nuts and cranberries? I bought one tonight, but haven't opened it up yet.
