TIME TO CIRCLE THE WAGONS GIRLS

Our sweet sister, JulieP is heading to NOLA for her S-Gap, let's remember her in our circle today.
0 -
Sweet JulieP, yes she certainly is sweet. I remember this past May when I had my exchange, she was so excited for me. So Julie, if ya read this, I have a big smile on my face for you and your cirlce of friends here are holding hands and sending you alot of strength.
And healing light.
Susan, so glad you enjoyed the unusual but comforting breakfast.
So what does NOLA stand for anyways?

I love reading about the warmth and love and support within this wagon circle. I need to go take care of laundry and other household chores right now and I hate to leave. Sometimes I just want to hang around, but at least I know you are all here. What a comforting thought.

So I'm getting ready to go back to work. Went through the house and found a bunch of old CD's. This song is by Leonard Cohen (folk singer/poet)
"The Sisters Of Mercy"
Oh the sisters of mercy they are not
Departed or gone
They are waiting for me when I thought
That I just can't go on.
And they brought me their comfort
And later they brought me this song
O I hope you run into them
You who've been traveling so long
Yes, you who must leave everything
That you can not control
It begins with your family
But soon it comes round to your soul
Well, I've been where you're hanging
I think I can see how you're pinned
When you're feeling lonely
Your loneliness says you've not sinned.
Sisters lay down beside me
I told my journey to them
They touched both my eyes
And I touched the dew on their hem
If your life is a leaf
That the seasons tear off and condemn
Sisters will bind you with love
That is graceful and green as a stem
When I left they were sleeping
I hope you run into them soon
Don't turn on the lights
You can read their address by the moon
And you won't make me jealous
If I hear that the sisters sweetened your night
...To all my wonderful sisters no matter where you are in your journey, we are here for you.
<------wiping a tear away. Now whats for dinner.
Nicki0 -
NIki.
that was awesome - took me way back in times as the tune went.
Betwen the food, the campfire and the songs this is the best wagon train I have ever been on.
Jeannette0 -
I have now typed two messages for this thread and gotten a message back that says "message no longervalid, we cannot proceed". What the heck is going on? Are the filters set so we can't discuss that certain gross recipe?
I had such a special day yesterday and they won't let me tell you about it! And I've certainly typed longer posts in the past.
Jeannie0 -
Silvergirl,
I'm trying this too see if it works as we would love to hear from you...are you refering to our RM oysters recipe.
hmmm...lets see what happens when I press continue.0 -
HMMMM...ok...it's not the recipes, I don't know what could be wrong...please try again so we can hear about your day!
Hugs,
Vickie0 -
Jeannie: I hope whatever is wrong gets fixed. That has happened to me before, but only when I have written a long post. We sure do want to hear about your day.
Looks like dinner is gonna be old fashioned sphagetti with meat sauce. Fresh fruit for dessert. Oh and garlic bread.
Nicki0 -
Wow, I leave for 3 days and missed 3 pages of news.
I think I just broke one of the benches around the fire with the weight I've gained from all of the eating.
Thinking and hoping for a nice healing week with our sisters and brothers.
I can tell fall is coming with the cooler nights around the fire and brought some Bailey's to keep us warm....0 -
Announcements:
The Blacksmith is coming tomorrow to tend to our horse's shoes.
Please go to the black smith wagon and sign up your horses. And YES, Shel, he can do pink.
The Circle Girls wagons are leaving mighty early in the AM to go to Denise's appointment, Jeannie's appointment and Rhymee's appointment. There will be food on board. We have been asked NOT to bring the chocolate fountain into the MRI suite again... apparently it made a bit of a mess last time. There will be plenty of Raisinettes available as well.
Sign up sheet for who does what for the Wagon Circle Howdown on September 16th is outside the cook tent. We need cooks, entertainment, and invitations to be sent to everyone at BCO.
Auditions for entertainment will be held by the lake on Friday, September 8th. Please bring your own sheet music.
Thank you.0 -
The Spirit of John Denver helped with this Wagon Circle Song...
Thank God We are Circle Girls
Well life on a wagon is kinda laid back,
ain't nothing much a circle girl that she cant hack.
It's early to rise, early in the sack
Thank God we are Circle Girls
.
This simple kind of life never did us no harm,
Working on the wagon train and cookin up a storm
Our days are all filled with an easy country charm
Thank God we are Circle Girls.
Well we got us some fine wife, and we an old fiddle.
When the sun's comin' up we got cakes on the griddle
and life ain't nothin' but a funny, funny riddle
Thank God we are Circle Girls.
When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low
We pull out a fiddle and rosin up the bow.
If some girls are asleep we keep it kinda low
Thank God we are Circle Girls.
We'd play on the fiddle all night if we could,
but we need a lot of sleep to help the girls who arent feelin so good.
So we fiddle when we can and we take care of those we should
Thank God we are Circle Girls.
Well we got us some fine wife, and we an old fiddle.
When the sun's comin' up we got cakes on the griddle
and life ain't nothin' but a funny, funny riddle
Thank God we are Circle Girls.
Well, we wouldn't trade our sisters for diamonds or jewels,
We never were one of them money hungry fools.
We'd rather have our Circle and our wagon tools
Thank God we are Circle Girls
Yeah, some folk like drivin in a black limousine,
a lotta lonely people thinkin' that's mighty keen.
Well, in the circle youd know exactly what we mean
when we say -Thank God we are Circle Girls.
Well we got us some fine wife, and we an old fiddle.
When the sun's comin' up we got cakes on the griddle
and life ain't nothin' but a funny, funny riddle
Thank God we are Circle Girls.
Well, weve known a lot of laughter and sometimes weve even cried
but we take each others hand and hold our sisters close to our side.
Our motto is The Circle is strong full of love, comfort and pride
and your not alone when youre a Circle Girl
A Circle girl knows how to hunt and how to whittle,
we can even teach you how to work and play a tune on the fiddle.
We will show you me how to love and how to give more than just a little
And Thank God we are Circle Girls!.0 -
Thank God we are Circle Girls.
That was nice.
Nicki0 -
Thank God we're ALL circle girls! The chocolate fountain crack was the best laugh today!! You are not a well woman NS----what I like about you the best. And without you we wouldn't have the Wagon Train.
First I'll tell you about yesterday---cut it short so it gets posted and then try for the rest of it.
We went to Ithaca to meet my new greatnephew---he is absolutely beautiful---he has golden hair! He didn't seem to mind my eyeball from the Black Lagoon at all---of course his eyes only focus five inches in front of him at this point. Everybody else was polite and said they expected it to look worse---don't know how that could possibly be but that's why we love our families (most of the time!).
But the very best part-----we took my daughter and SIL out to dinner for her birthday and they asked me to be their labor and delivery coach when their baby comes in late November. Went into the ugly cry right in the middle of the restaurant (Zsa Zsa's, Vivkie. YUM!) but I already looked so awful no one could tell! They want to do the whole midwife, water birth thing so I've been given a reading assignment. I guess they're counting on the fact that I was one of the first nut cases in Baltimore who insisted on Lamaze and my husband being in the labor and delivery room.
So yesterday was wonderful altho probably a little too busy since my butt is dragging today. Good thing we scratched the Fair Vickie---you're busy packing and I probably wouldn't have made it out of the parking lot.
The commentary will follow. Wasn't that a cool day?
Jeannie0 -
Its thundering and lightening over the horizon. Time for this old gal to call it a night. The camp fire is blazing and I brought some Jamesons Irish Whiskey.
Have poured shots all around and believe me it will warm your tummy. Rest well all.
NS: Ive signed up my horse. His name is Distored Humor. He's a fantastic race horse so he will get us to each place we need to go tomorrow morning in plenty of time.
As far as the hodown. Oh my it all sounds like fun. Maybe I will do a little bit of everything.
Jeannie: What a wonderful story. Thats really only 2-3 months away. I bet you will be a great coach. Its special.
Good night, sleep well, peace to all. See ya in the morning.
Nicki0 -
Nicki, glad you brought the Jameson's as I can make good Irish Coffee.
Sherry, if this works you can definitely teach an old dog new tricks!!! Nicki, don't know where you are but it is storming here and I need to make sure my wagon is secure.
NS my horse ran away!!!! See I got him as he was gentle and kind of old and when I tried to mount - well I think I have gained to much weight - he wasn't into hard work.
Silvergirl, glad you finally got to post your good news. As a mom, I know how much that meant to you.
(I sure hope my pix worked)0 -
"pink horseshoes"............i'm cracking up!
i can't do the hoedown.........i'm getting my gummy boobs on the 15th..........but the talent show LOOK OUT lol.......i play a mean accordion!0 -
pink horseshoes and a hoedown...I've missed a lot today. I'll be back on the 16th from Florida for the hoedown.
Coming along for Denise, Rhymee and Jeannie's appointments tomorrow and I'll bring whoopie pies.
Jeannie...never been to Zsa Zsa's...glad you had a good time. You are so lucky to be a birthing coach...I did it twice with a friend of mine and with two of my sisters and it was simply the most amazing experience ever. If I were to ever be a nurse I would have to be a midwife...although I'd probably want to keep all the babies.
NS...you crack me up.
Circle Girls we are!!
Off to bed...tired from all this good food and conversation and still bumming about Anderson Cooper...just isn't fair!
Hugs Ladies
Vickie
Tflow...welcome back.0 -
I'm afraid of horses---can I bring my Harley instead? I don't have one of those either but I do have a very active imagination!
I showed DH (who grew up on a farm) the "famous picture" and he answered my city slicker question. So now we don't have to worry Melissa with that obvious question. (Like where's the rest of him----?) (The bull, not DH.)
Peggy---thanks for the fire last night. It was the first thing I logged onto after running around in the rain all day---it was so nice and warm and welcoming.
Nicki---you are such a gifted writer. and your song brought on the weeps but I'm sure I wasn't alone in that. Things we can say to each other that we can't say to everyone else.
Jeannette---you really went to a sweat lodge? Can you tell us a little about that? I always thought that was pretty much confined to the men. We live about 20 miles north of the Onondaga Nation and right across the river from the Three Rivers---a sacred meeting ground for the Iriquoise Nation. Everyone thinks New York is all high rises but there is fascinating history and beautiful country and SO much Native American history here.
As for the cookbook. I think I'll be a little better equipped to get my head around that after we get the path report back. Right now it's better living thru chemistry for me. Haven't heard from Melissa yet. Has anybody thought of a way to post a downloadable Title page and index tabs so those of us who like to have cook BOOKS can have one? What index chapters should we have? Somebody earlier suggested a chapter for "breast recipes"---breast of lamb, turkey breast, etc. I REFUSE to put THAT recipe in there.
Eye surgeon at 8:45 tomorrow---doubt he willhave anything. The real kicker is I'm supposed to do the preop testing for the next revisions at noon---somehow doesn't seem very important under the circumstances.
Blessings and a good sleep for all of us. Think I'll just have a tech of that Bailey's cut with a little vodka---Jameson's just makes me hung over.
Jeannie0 -
Jeannie

Robin--
You know we are all with you, behind you, carrying you. When you start to feel better you can come back to read some of the beautiful thoughts expressed here----along with a healthy dose of nonsense.
Jeannie0 -
Well ladies, me and my faithful mule, Explorer, will be leaving the wagon train and heading off over the mountains to RADs tomorrow! I will make the trip both ways tomorrow and them will go back on Wednesday and stay until Friday. I dont know which will be worse traveling all day or staying away from home (excuse me if I pout!) Im feeling a bit put out about starting rads .
I want all you ladies to know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers as I start my RADs journey. Keep the fire built up big and Im sure I will be able to feel the warmth from all the way across the mountain range!
Deb C.0 -
Hey Deb:
You will do fine. Just make sure you have your lotion and aloe to put on after each/every treatment (or what your rad onc tells you to use). If you start to burn too bad, you let them know - they work for you and everyone including the other patients were wonderful. I finished in July-took more time to dress/undress than go thru the treatment. I assume that you are going to Anchorage -travel safe and hopefully the "turons" have left. It's been a few years since I have driven between Soldotna and Anchorage, but if memory serves me, the drive will be glorious this time of year due to the color changes. Just sink in all that beauty and stay positive. Keep us posted. You are in our thoughts and prayers, Robin0 -
NS,
Wowser ! Now THAT was a dandy for SURE !!!!!
Circle girls we are !
Robin,
sending NOTHING but positive thots for those scans !!!!!
Sorry you are feeling under. Hope it gets better soon.
Deb,
now I am sending you positive thots and healing light just like Robin, and you hang in there too.
I'm a gonna crawl in the middle of this wagon circle tonight....gonna cozy down in the sleeping bag.
hugssssssssssss

o/t girls.........does anyone else feel really creeped out by the exorbitant amount of porn postings here "all of a sudden" and with "great persistence"........i'm sure ya'll have figured out i'm far from a "prude" but, in all honesty i'm a little more than perplexed (and a lot disgusted).
anyhow back to the campfire........"kumbaya"0 -
I'm creeped out. There was a soccer link on one thread that was a porn site. Wonder what's up with all the crap??
