    to take a bite..

    YUMMY>>>
    just vera
fixed some potato salad and will be taking out the homestyle ribs out of the oven in a few min along with fresh (microwaved corn) and pecan bars for dessert...

Just popped in for a minute but had to stay and have some of vera's wonderful meal.

Im laughing my head off at shel. Shelly likes pink. Shelly likes pink. It doesnt stink. Thats just what shel wanted us to think.

OK, somewhere in these many pages I remember someone talking about Rocky Mountain Oysters. Well I just found out what they are. ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

We can have homemade ice cream later. I picked a bunch of berries when I went for my walk. You can tell who I am. The one who has berries all over her mouth. Yep, I was eating while I was pickin.

Susan: you must have been up with me and took a picture of the beautiful sunrise. You sure did capture it.

Yum Vera - that's summer time cooking for sure. Thanks for sharing.
I ran over to the Greek Festival and got some to go for all- Lamb Shanks, Dolmades, Moussaka, Baklava and more. I'll be bringing it to the dinner buffet around the campfire tonight- enjoy!

    MOUNTAIN OYSTERS

5 to 10 mountain oysters, cut 1/2 inch thick (may use either hog, bull or sheep)
    4 eggs, beaten
    1/4 c. milk
1/4 c. beer (may use more if you prefer)
    Crackers, finely crushed
    Salt & pepper to taste
    3/4 c. shortening
    1/4 c. butter

Rinse and drain mountain oysters. Mix beaten eggs, milk and beer in bowl. Crush crackers and put into separate bowl. Melt shortening and butter in large skillet. Dip mountain oysters into egg, milk and beer batter, then roll in cracker crumbs. Fry oysters in skillet until done (when pink color disappears and coating is browned). Salt and pepper to taste. Oysters may be transferred to a warmed crock pot until all are cooked and you're ready to serve.

Can we all say eeewwwwww! I'm eating with Vera!

Well, I cracked up with all the efforts to put RM oysters on the menu. Sige, your picture is too much!.

I understand that RM oysters are a real delicacy reserved for those lucky cowboys and girls who are part of the roundup and branding crew. Sorry girls, none available until calving season.

AS for me, I just got back to the wagon train - been off seeing the Natives for traditional ceremony (hey, this begins to feel like Dances With Wolves) at a sweat lodge praying for healing for all of us. Forgot to pray for hair.
Brought some smoked salmon soaked in maple syrup - that is a real treat. Washed down with berries - blueberries, saskatoons, rapberries.
Had chicken soup and bannock to feast afterwards. And oh, good fry bread.
Are we into a cook book yet?

Hello circle! It's been a while and it's taken me a bit to catch up on everything...I've got the energy now, so I'm taking advantage of it...

Well, well, well, look who's back: Peggy!!! So happy to see you...and your cut & paste artistry is always so educational!

Silvergirl...relieved and pleased to learn you are feeling better.

Newvickie...been praying for Trenton since I read about him.

Rhyme...sorry I was too tired to talk last night, but I'm up tonight...

Chemosabi...I had something to say to you, but now I forget what it was...

    How is Debbyfive?

NS: NO WAY. If Anderson Cooper is gay, I want proof. Details, woman. Details.

Oh, ladies...of utmost importance right now...with me in my wagon is our dear, sweet Karen...please...let's carry her to the center of the circle by the warm fire and let her feel the love. She's growing tired and is asking for prayers...someone play something soft on the guitar...shhhh...Karen doesn't like loud....

Thanks everyone who asked for me...mammo and ultrasound were both negative...woo hoo...PET showed activity in lungs (expected) and lymph node outside liver (new)...so, keep praying!

But it's Karen's night, I'd like to dedicate the evening to her, if you don't mind...Mena...xo

We have a special spot up here by the fire for Karen.
I am so glad to see our wagon circle is getting filled up again, we missed a couple of you girls!

We have two very LARGE visitors I see, thanks to Peggy....At least now I know WTH a RMOyster is!

Mena, I heard it here about Anderson Cooper during the Hurrican Katrina coverage. Quite the disappointment.

    Keeping everyone extra close tonight.

have been thinking about a new song for us... but haven't worked out the details yet- will come back later with it i hope.

    Anyone got any pie?

Here's a peaceful song to sing around the fire - all quietly join in...

    Poems, Prayers And Promises

I've been lately thinking about my life's time, all the things I've done and how it's been.
And I can't help believing in my own mind, I know I'm gonna hate to see it end.
I've seen a lot of sunshine, slept out in the rain, spent a night or two all on my own.
I've known my lady's pleasures, had myself some friends, spent a time or two in my own home.
I have to say it now, it's been a good life, all in all,
it's really fine to have a chance to hang around.
Lie there by the fire and watch the evening tire,
while all my friends and my old lady sit and pass a pipe around.
And talk of poems and prayers and promises and things that we believe in.
How sweet it is to love someone, how right it is to care.
How long it's been since yesterday, what about tomorrow
and what about our dreams and all the memories we share?

The days they pass so quickly now, the nights are seldom long.
Time around me whispers when it's cold.
The changes somehow frightens me, still I have to smile. It turns me on to think of growing old.
Although my life's been good to me, there's still so much to do,
so many things my mind has never known.
I'd like to raise a family, I'd like to sail away and dance across the mountains on the moon.

It is late, and the fire is just a glow of golden embers. Some sisters are sleeping, some are humming along with the guitar, some have wandered down to the lake to listen to the loons call. Summer has not quite ended, but if you breath in deeply you can smell the first hint of fall.

Pull the quilt close around your back. Hold the hand of the one you love that sits so close. Say a prayer for peace...

    Blessings,
    Deb C.

Early morning shift has arrived once again. I had to set up a small tent by the fire. No stars this morning. No crickets or frogs singing. Just the sound of rain hitting the canvas. Although, its a soothing sound - the rain.

Im wiping a tear from my eye, contemplating, remembering, and so proud that all of you encircled our dear sister Karen. Ahh gee - a moment of silence with prayers for Karen to have peace and prayers for Karen's family to have strength.

The rain has put out the last embers of the fire. Signs of another season are coming to an end. The rain has a bit of a chill to it, not like the warm summer rains we have gotten used to these past 3 months.

Thanks goodness it really isnt the 1800's. Ive got my coffee brewing in my tent with my battery operated coffee maker.

Mena - so glad to see you were able to wake up and come listen to the music last night. And I hope you got a good laugh over the RM Oysters. I sure did this morning. And I still say ewwwwwww!

So sleep, sleep sleep. Let the sound of the rain drops hypnotize you. Rest well. When you wake up you can come on over to my tent.

May have to walk to town and get some breakfast. No way of cooking it this morning. Maybe get some double chocolate donuts to pass around when you all start waking up.

Im here this wee hour in the morning. So rest well sisters. I got ya covered.

The rains have stopped but its cloudy and there is still a chill in the air. Its strange watching daylight come upon us without seeing the sun rising in the horizon.

The tent I am in is warm. And I was able to start a new campfire. I have some chicken soup brewing - yes chicken soup in the morning, sometimes it just hits the spot. So its chocolate donuts and chicken soup for all.

Good morning Jasmine. I hope your slippers didnt get muddy walkin over to my tent.

As some of you start waking up, come on over, I have some nice fuzzy slippers to warm your feet and cuddly blankets to throw over your shoulders.

Heres some chicken soup. Inhale the steam from the cup. I just had some myself, but darn, as I inhaled the steam, it clouded up my glasses.

It is a peaceful morning. Sending love to all.
