Thank you to everyone for your encouraging words and warm thoughts! This truly has to be the best place on earth for all of us going through this challenging journey! Some of the writing I have seen here is nothing short of amazing! It is uplifting and beautiful and brings a smile to my face even when I am feeling down.

Today is cloudy and chilly - a great day to pull up a warm blanket and have some tea and do some physical and emotional healing. This is my also last weekend before chemo starts, so tonight I hope to go out and live it up a bit! I hope everyone has a peaceful and rejuvenating weekend.

    Love to all,
    Kristin

Hello Circle Girls...the 3-day crash has hit, BUT...

I took my son for a haircut, got him to work, picked up four dvd's to watch if I want to rest...and, of course, also picked up the never-ending arsenal of scrips...I've got the air conditioning on, because I'm sweating...headache, no poops in like five days...and it's downright gloomy here in NW Jersey...

Shirley...You are now an official Circle Girl...welcome...enjoy the love and bask in it's glory...no drama, no nastiness, no nonsense, just love and support and fun...keep coming...

Lini..I want that drink! Make it a double! No...a triple! Sounds delicious!!

Amy: I am praying for Dana and you...don't give up hope! We'll tend to her in the center of our circle...anything you or she wants, you two get!

Jeanette...Fall also makes me a bit melancholy...I just love the sun and warmth...but I will promise to look around and enjoy the beauty of the season and remember why we need it...

Kristin: I'm pissed at your news. I'm very upset for you. I'm in tears for crying out loud (or silently actually). But I've no doubt you'll still be fine...you've just got it in you, hon...prayers for you...

BTW, for anyone wondering why we always have cheesecake...that's my fault...I requested it always be in stock hahahaha...it's my fave...I once ate one frozen all by myself...no kidding...just me, a fork and the pie...

    Tgirl...yes we are bonded...and I am grateful...

Puppy...you know how I feel about you! And your wheel! Please take care...you are always in my prayers. I think you know that...

    Tina...check your pm's...

Oh, and I have one of those "breathe right" nose strips on right now hahahaha....I swear they work...just look like an ass...but at this point...I could give a rat's ass...hahahahha....

Chemosabi...congrats on exercising again! Good for you! You're inspiring me to think about exercising hahahaha....oh, btw, I did get your call...thank you!

Be well all...everyone, even if I didn't mention your name...I have chemo brain and am exhausted and am now also taking notes hahahhah...You are all always in my thoughts and prayers...and I think Peggy needs a new challenge...

Let's see...How about you find a pic of me and post it here hahahaha....it's possible...Mena...xo

Hey - can I join in too. Just finished rads yesterday and will pop my first arimidex tomorrow morning. DH took me to a local comedy club last night - said after all this I needed a good laugh! Just taking one day at a time, trying to exercise and eat right, and praying for good results on upcoming tests.

Hi ladies.... I've been reading this thread for quite awhile now - so I've been wagon shopping. Found a cute little one and now all I need is a nice calm horse. I'll be happy to help out in the medic tent or wherever else I'm needed. I can cook a little and LOVE cheesecake.

Just a big hug and laughs and hugs. I came here after the bickering in the debate thread. It said it was an exclusive club. So I read it found it to be a wonderful place with love. I check everyday to see if everyone is okay. I love Mena and I have a candle lit every day and for Lisa. This is a wonderful positive feeling comming here. God Bless you all. I wouldnt be writing on these boards if not for you waggon sisters

    Hey Liz and Boston...

Glad you found us. This has been a wonderful place for me too. Oh, and we only blame having cheesecake every day on Mena. In reality we ALL want cheesecake every day

    Hugs to everyone

Hi all. I'm new to this circle, but have been on the boards since last December - 2.8 cm. tumor, no nodal involvement, lumpectomy, dose dense AC/T, bilateral mastectomy w/DIEP flap reconstruction. It's been quite a ride, but the wilderness has felt less lonely and frightening, because of the company of my fellow lovely travelers.

I like the idea of hanging out around the campfire and singing , too. Tonight I'm recovering from a nasty infection to my left breast, so while I'm not quite up for any whiskey, a nice cup of brew (probably herbal) will do me just fine.

Wishing all my fellow Jewish prairie girls a happy, sweet and above all, healthy new year. And to all of my fellow travelers, happy trails to you...

Thank you Lini, that means so much to me!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY PEGGY!!! I hope you both are doing something wonderful!

Too late Shel... my bad, I already told Ralph which wagon was yours!!!

and Nicki, so THAT is what that 21 gun salute was coming from YOUR wagon last night! LOL

Boston, I am so glad you are here in the circle with us.

Kathy, wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year- so happy to have you here!

Liz, we have LOTS of horses for you! Welcome to the Circle!
I hope your breast infection feels better... I had one after rads and it was awful.

Shirley, congratulations on finishing rads! We have plenty of room and will all gather together to hope for good test results for you.

Dear Tina, I am so sorry that on top of the loss of your dad you have to deal with this PERSON. I know how hard it is. GOOD FOR YOU writing your sentiments in Welsh and I am so glad your flowers were so pretty.
When you feel up to it, go have your own beautiful service for yourself and your dad. I had to do that with my brother and it made all the bad stuff that happened during the funeral fade away.

Well, so much for my ode to fall last night.. it is going up to 80 tomorrow! I guess I can still squeak by with my flip flops! Do you know one of my biggest fears is walking into my house and having that couple from What Not To Wear waiting for me with the contents of my closet in a big garbage can?!!

Peaceful night in the circle tonight. The more Circle Girls who join us makes us feel safer, warmer, more united. It is a good feeling.

I am hungry. Where is dinner tonight???!

    Hello wagon circle girls,
Thought I would be out on the farm all weekend in my camper enjoying some nice weather but mother nature had other ideas. We are expecting tornados tonight so decided a camper wasnt a great idea.

Just checking in to see whats for dinner also tonight no surrender. I guess since it seems to be us two we better come up with something. I do have a fresh pot of chili on so I will get some cornbread going and we can have that. For those that arent cornbread people you can have crackers or fritos. I do have shredded cheese for the chili also.

Liz, Boston, Shirley and Kathy, welcome to the circle. Pull up your wagon and set a spell. We all chip in and do what needs to be done but most of all we are here to give support to others and those in special need go to the inner circle and we form a strong caring bond around them. Its a great place to hang out as was mentioned before, no bickering, no debating, no problems. Just alot of virtual eating and it does seem to put the weight on you. We do have chemosabi that tries to get us exercising but so far we all just sleep through it because she gets up wayyyyyyyyy too early for us to even be able to watch her much less join in.

AlaskaDeb glad to hear your swelling has gone down some. I also know what you mean about your little girl growing up. I have a 12 year old son and it is hard to believe he is 12. I sometimes wonder where all the time went. Where is that little baby that whined for the 1st 10 months of his life? Then I realize he is still here whining just in a bigger body. Naww just kidding he is a good boy so far but then again we havent hit the teen years yet which I dread already.

O.k. Mena no secrets,,where can Peggy find a picture of you on the web?

Ronda your dutch oven cooking sounds wonderful. There is nothing better than cast iron and I love my dutch oven. I have to agree with you on the outside cooking being the best.

lili57 I agree with you on Nosurrender and Nickis post. They come to life with their words. They truly have a gift. Thank you NS and Nicki I appreciate your post and look forward to reading them. This is in no way saying I do not appreciate everyones post but those 2 really have a speical way with words.

I know I have left many out and I swear I am going to have to join the note taking club.

Well, Alabama blew it today on football but I hope everybody else here enjoyed their games. Maybe my Steelers will pull it out tomorrow. I hope the weather passes and I am putting up pasture fence but right now I am not so sure of it.

As far as an update from me, I am doing well. The xeloda seems to be working because I can tell the tumor is shrinking due to less and less pain in my right groin area. I dont like the peeling skin on the hands and the red feet but thats better than cancer overtaking for sure. Cancer is messing with the wrong person here and I plan on kicking some A$$ out of it.

Bye for now, chili is ready for anybody who wants. It does have beans in it so nobody get too close to the fire.

Good morning everyone. Ya know I was thinking the other day. When did good morning and good evening greetings start? I heard it started with Morning Tide and Evening Tide. Wow! So many things related to the moon coming up in the evening and going down in the morning. Even our vast oceans and their tides.

Its a quiet morning. I can hear the crickets singing. It seems like they are talking to each other. First they are all chirping away, and then their is silence. I wonder what they are saying to each other?

The ground is mushy and the forest is wet from all of the storms we have had. Some leaves have fallen but they arnt going anywhere. Its very still - there is no wind this morning. I borrowed a blow up canoe from vera and Ty-k, so anyone that had flooding, I will come get you with my trusty canoe.

I hear someone gently snoring in the background. That makes me smile cause I know that one of our sisters in the middle of the circle is sleeping and getting well deserved rest. I looked at the circle of wagons from a distance. How beautiful it is. So many now have candles around their wagon to bring love, hope, peace, and comfort. Its illuminating the circle.

The campfire is going strong. So many stop by and put a long on to keep it going. It gives me the feeling of an eternal light. So Im just sitting here feeling the heat on the cheeks of my face, and hearing crackling sounds as the fire burns.

Tina: Oh what a hard week-end for you. The flowers you sent sounded so pretty. Its hard when we lose our parents. Its like a right of passage. Life somehow becomes different. If you have a chance, come on down to the campfire and sit with me. We can remininse about your dad. The good things he did. And what are some funny stories you can tell about him also. We can just talk. And if you wicked step mother tries to come to our circle - she will be taken care of. There is a big mucky mud puddle not far from the circle. Well - thats all I gonna say, but she will be taken care of for you.

Jeanette: I love the title baldeagle. I keep looking up in the trees trying to spot an Eagle. They are truelly beautfiul birds. And to see them flying with their wing span would be breathtaking.

Kristen: I hope you had a really fun and wild night. Soon the next phase of your journey begins. But hey, we have been through it. We will hold your hand all the way. And then there is the medic wagon. Lots of healing and comfort going on there. Sweet Kristen, just remember, chemo will be hard, but not as bad as we think in our minds. The best advice I can give you is what others here gave me. Drink lots of water. Drink and pee, drink and pee.

Mena: As usual, you amaze me. 3 days post chemo and your taking your son to get a hair cut. And I personally would like to see Peggy get a picture of you with the breathing strip on your nose. NOW thats a challenge!! On both your parts.

Amy: I hope you and Dana had a restful night. Sometimes I think this cancer is harder on our friends and families. They cant walk in our shoes and they dont know what they can do to help. In your case, it must be so hard. Dealing with bc yourself, and now trying to help a friend who is so young and suffering. Im sending you a special hug.

Liz: Are you my dear friend from chat? I am so glad you are here. And the medic tent would be an ideal place. We need lots of help there. So many going through some very hard times. Comfort is the focus. Be it medications, back rubs, massage, cool wash clothes, chicken soup. Whatever it takes to make our sisters in need comfortable.

Boston: So nice to see you hear. Im on the South Beach diet so I cant have any sweets. But somehow I remember waking up last night. Walked towards the campfire rubbing my sleepy eyes. Thats all I remember. This morning I woke up with chocolate cookie crumbs all over my mouth. Guess I cheated - hee hee hee. Was I sleep walking or did I just smell the wonderful aromoa of chocolate chip cookies baking?

Kathy: I am so glad you found us. Dang it, darn infections. We are experts here on infections. Lots of healing light going your way.

NS: I do believe our wagon circle has gotten so big it covers many states. 80 degree weather you say? Its 50 and chilly over on this side of the circle. Geez, when I start walking the perimeter of the wagons to see how everyone is, well what should I wear. Isnt that the problem with this time of the year. Sometimes I am either over dressed or underdressed.

tgirl: It has taken me so long to make this post, I see you have already come down to have some coffee with me. Good morning.

Vickie: I saw reports on CNN about our little Trenton. Things dont look good. How very sad. Hopy you and your family are holding up ok.

Ah, now its time to start thinking about breakfast. Its a good day for eggs, just give me your orders. Scrambled, sunny side up, over medium, omelet, poached? And a good morning for some bacon and sausage - let the aroma of them cooking penetrate the camp. Isnt it great to wake up to the smell of bacon cooking in the morning? Oh, also have a fresh fruit bowl. Watermelon, cantelope, mango, grapes, blueberries, strawberries, and bananas. Have some warm blueberry muffins with fresh churned butter.

To all my friends - hope your day starts out great. If I missed your name, its only cause you were here very close to my heart.

Have a wonderful day. Im gonna go walk down to the creek. I really need a bath - yes - this morning I think I am a little gamey.

Oh ladies: Walking through the woods while the sun is rising is so great. The leaves on the bushes are all wet, but I saw the most beautiful spider web. It was almost artistic. And there were dew drops on it. Also heard from a bird I havent thought about it a while. The black crow. I could here them on the tree tops going eee eee then awhawhahw. A momma deer with twin bambis. Oh such a site. And they all have white fuzzy tails - their coats are also changing for the fall and winter.

Isnt it interesting that spiders and crows are also a big part of halloween?

debbyfive: when is your surgery. You have had so much stress this past week. Just remember I have some french onion soup available to your beckoning.

Time to leave and start enjoying my Sunday. Gotta go get the Sunday newspapers. Might even have a cup of hazelnut coffee with a tweek of Baileys.

    Have a wonderful morning.

Good morning ladies... thanks so much for the warm welcome.

Nicki - yep it's me! I haven't seen you in such a long time. Glad you are doing well. I'm walking every morning and have made it up to a mile and a half. BUT you get up way too early for me kiddo.

Mena - you amaze me doing what you do after chemo day. You are a strong woman.

NS - thanks for the welcome but fortunately I don't have a breast infection.

Deb - hope your arm improves and your sleeve helps. So far I've avoided LE

So sad about little Trenton and his family. I do hope they find him alive and well - but things aren't looking too good.

debbyfive - so glad your son is okay. Will be thinking of you during your surgery.

I know I've missed several and can see why notes are needed. But you are in my thoughts.

I'm headed to the Medic tent to see if I can help Nicki and then I'll whip up a nice Ham & Cheese casserole for brunch.

    Thanks again for the welcome.

    Hugs

Good morning girls. The prairie is basking in the golden yellow of the harvest. The mountains are snow-covered, a true sign of what will be in the valleys before too long. Stange contrast of yellow field, some green pastures and the white caps beyond. BTW, Dances With Wolves and Brokeback Mountain were filmed in this backyard. So you can get a pretty good picture.

Just a couple of comments - I don't have much time. Off to gather wild peppermint and sage. Will bring back lots of good medicines to the medic wagon. I hope Niki knows how to use them.

Debbyfive, Glad you came close to the fire for a good cuppa and lots of hugs. I think that some of those misunderstandings happen because through the haze of diagnoses and treatments we don't always read the intent of what is written or respond in the clearest way. Best to clear a path and head for the wagons and wait for the smoke to clear. Glad you are here and getting some good warmth before your surgery.

Niki, Bald Eagle was a name that came to me during a sweat lodge. It really describes the journey that I am on in many different ways. Now the question is: when my hair growns back do I have to give up that name?

Thanks to all of you who have welcomed me so warmly. I think it will take me awhile to get to know all of you and your stories, but after hanging around the campfire awhile it'll probably start sinking in.

I know I'm new and this may not be acceptable, but are men welcome guests here? My dear husband, who has been exceptionally supportive of me during my journey, is facing brain surgery in the upcoming months for a tumor that is most likely not cancerous, but is sitting millimeters away from his carotid artery and optic nerve. He could sure use a massage and some stress reduction these days. I even feel guilty having had my infection, cause I thought he was finally going to be let off the hook for awhile from his nursing and Mr. Mom duties. If it's just too uncomfortable to have men in the inner circle, I would appreciate it if those of you who are so inclined include him in your healing thoughts and prayers. I believe that all the people who did the same for me supported my healing and recovery. Also, when he's doing well, I do well, so it's a way to support a fellow bc survivor.

Meantime, I'll be happy to serve up some challah french toast, lox and bagels, and apples and honey to anyone who drops by for a visit to our wagon. Next Monday night, you're all invited to our break fast for more lox, bagels, whitefish salad, humous and pita, loads of fresh fruit, honey cake, and steaming cups of coffee.

Frankly, I've been losing weight a little too quickly these days. I think it's time I chow down on some of the virtual cheesecake I've been hearing tell of these here parts.

I look forward to chipping in with keeping the fire burning and with cooking, when I'm feeling a little more up to it. It's a cliche, I know, but I've got a pot of chicken soup simmering right now. Really.

As much as I love virtual cheesecake, being ER negative, I've got to avoid all fats in the real-time world. It's the only thing proven to prevent recurrence. No aromatase inhibitors for me. So, even though I always struggled to keep my weight down prior to bc, I've now lost 20 pounds and am concerned about holding steady around this weight. How ironic. So any stick to your ribs, lowfat recipes would be super appreciated. I do love chili, so I've continued to make it with buffalo meat, a great low-fat alternative. My son jazzes it up by adding lime and chipotle, by the way. Delicious! Venison and rabbit recipes would be great. They'd totally be in keeping with the theme here.

    Kathy,
Welcome and your DH is most certainly welcome in our circle too. We except all who are in need here and we'll put the two of you the middle of our circle with comfort, hugs, prayers and much healing positive light. Message and stress reduction it is!! So sorry for all your worries.
I lost 40lbs between chemo and surgery but have gained back about 15 so things are looking up but I'm ER+ so I don't worry quite so much about the fat. We have a buffalo farm just over the hill from where I live and buffalo meat is delicious! I had never had it until a couple of years ago when they had their "Buffalo Days" and we went. They had buffalo burgers and buffalo hot dogs and I fell in love with the hot dogs!
Jeannette...you gave me a chuckle. Bald Eagle is a beautiful name...never give it up.
No news on Trenton but Lindy's suicide note doesn't seem to indicate that she did anything to him (at least in my eyes) I am still holding out hope that in desperation she gave him to someone who isn't coming forward. She had lost her job, was only 21, felt very unloved and was so fearful of losing him to her ex. Maybe wishful thinking but still praying he's happy somewhere.
    (((Mena))) hope your feeling ok.
Deb...is the arm better and are you back home with your loved ones?
Missed your anniversary Peggy...hope it was a happy and wonderful one!
Whew...need to take a head count...we have so many wonderful people here from so many places...sending each and every single one of you a hug. I may actually try to do a head count, just for the heck of it...that should keep my mind off other things for a while LOL.

How do you do that Peggy? You are good!

Sorry, girls haven't been around much today. Been in the wagon napping all day. Trying to decaf my body for my upcoming surgery and it seems my head has been pounding. I was passing out a few of the shots last night. The darn circle girls kept singing "Hit me with your best shot" and darn if everytime they didn't say "fire away", I'd take a shot too. So maybe it isn't the lack of caffeine that's got me under the weather. LOL!!!
