Good luck on the gummy bears!!
I can't believe that you are able to have surgery at 9:00 PM!!
Gentle hugs to you...check in when you can and let us know you're okay, promise?!
Peggy0 -
shel, I love my gummie bears. You'll feel the difference from expanders immediately. It is a good thing you have your ipod. I can't believe you have to be there that early for a 9:00 pm procedure. Gentle hugs and take care of yourself.
Liz0 -
thanks girls!
apparently exchange surgery is "cake" compared to the other surgeries, so i plan on leaving for new york with mike on wednesday morning.
i already have my "take out hot and sour soup" from the local chinese reataurant. it's ready to be reheated as soon as i get out of recovery lol!
i don't anticipate much down time at all.......i am a little nervous though, so thanks for the well wishes!0 -
Hey girls,
Too tired to keep track of all the posts tonight (I think I must be getting a head start on chemo brain), but welcome to all who have just joined, hubbies and all! I am still new here too and having a great time getting to know everyone!
Shel, good luck with your surgery. Keep us posted!
Just wanted to check in after the busy weekend and say hi to you all. I did have a nice time last night at a catered 60th birthday party for a neighbor. There was a DJ and dancing so I had a few glasses of wine and kicked up my heels for a while! (Unfortunately, there was no chocolate fountain!) It was a welcome distraction from the whole BC business, but now I am back and getting myself mentally ready for my first chemo on Tuesday.
I hope everyone had a relaxing and refreshing weekend and is ready to face another week with renewed vigor. Whatever happens this week, we will get each other through it!
Hugs to all,
Kristin0 -
My apologies Liz! I am GLAD you don't have a breast infection!!
I think it is Kathy who has one.
Well whoever has one... they are just awful and I am sorry you have one!
It was a glorious hot day today... then it stormed... then turned humid and now it is just mucky... fog everywhere.
Too hot for soup... but just right for Gin!
Good luck to Shel tomorrow!!! I have heard exchange surgery is *easy* but still... it is understandable to be nervous!
And isn't Mena the cutest thing!
We close on the 140 acres behind the circle tomorrow to make room for all the new girls joining us! Riverfront, mountain view and on a bed of sweet chamomile and heliotrope to make our sleep peaceful....0 -
Shel...hot & sour soup??? I have a kick butt recipe for Hot & Sour Soup if you are ever interested!
Let me know
Peggy0 -
oh yes please........i get it take out at least 3 times a week!
ever since chemo was done i can't seem to get enough of it!!!!!!!
the little chinese place out here thinks i'm crazy......they're right, but still...........!0 -
NS no apologies necessary dear. I'm so impressed that everyone can keep track of what's going on. I will need to take notes.
Shel I too have craved Hot & Sour soup since chemo. My chinese place knows my voice now. LOL
Peggy I would love a great recipe for it. I'm supporting the family who owns the restaurant.
Shel exchange surgery was much easier but I did come home with drains. It is a requirement of my PS but lots don't. You'll do great!
Still haven't found a horse yet, but I'm not in any hurry as horses and I haven't been best of friends since I was thrown as a kid. We shall see - maybe a nice quiet ATV will work.
Hope everyone rests well and if you need anything just stop by and I'll do what I can for you.
Hugs
Liz

Live, Laugh, Love - tomorrow is promised to no one.0 -
Good luck to Shel with surgery and Kristen with first chemo tomorrow. And anyone else that I may have missed. I've had some problems with allergies this week, been waking up with a cough several times at night, so this morning I was finally able to sleep in & get caught up on sleep. Consequently, the rest of the day was hectictrying to do laundry & housework and all that other boring stuff. Made chili in the crockpot and have plenty of leftovers if anyone's hungry! Hope y'all had a good weekend. Ronda aka Cookie

I didn't realize kristin was starting tomorrow- thanks for the reminder Rondacook!
GOOD LUCK Kristin! Remember to take some water with you- preferable a whole two liter bottle and drink it! You want to flush those toxins out of your kidneys. And remember to take your meds even if you feel fine! And nibble all day long...
Kathy, of COURSE your hubby can join us! We even have a playground for Lisa's girls- so if your kids want to come and play and pet the horses they are welcome!
Oh challah french toast!!!! YUM!
Lini?? When is YOUR surgery???
I really have to wear my glasses when I read these messages!!
Good luck to everyone who is getting something done to them tomorrow... be it surgery, pink gummy bears, first chemo, another chemo, scan, test, dental cleaning....
When you get nervous and feel that fear start creeping up on you just take yourself to the circle... put yourself right here with us... you will feel much better and feel the peace that only the Circle can provide.
love, g
ps- oh yes, reporting for night watch!0 -
"pink gummy bears"
oh good grief........can you imagine my dismay lol?
seriously.......all my best to all the new chemo girls......it'll be done before you know it!!!!!!!0 -
Funny about the H & S soup. I have it at least once a week with pot stickers (1/2 order) I always liked it, but now I crave it! Sometimes, I use the instant or H&S noodle bowl, add shrimp or chicken, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, chile oil or siracha to taste, fresh ginger, garlic and scallions. Almost like homemade, but so easy.

Oops! Sorry NS (and Kristen) - it's Tuesday that Kristen starts chemo I think. My mistake. Chemo brain hangover I guess. How long does it take for that to go away anyhow? At least she knows I'm thinking about her! Ronda

I posted this on the Inspiration Forum, but thought I'd like to do a lil Midnight Sing a long for those Circle Girls in the center, getting ready to come out and join the outer wagons. (Hurry Up Out Here, we need ya!)
Here's one from the Wizard of Oz:
You're out of the woods
You're out of the dark
You're out of the night
Step into the sun, step into the light
Keep straight ahead
For the most glorious place
On the Face of the Earth
Or the sky
Hold onto your breath
Hold onto your heart
Hold onto your hope
March up to the gate
And bid it open0 -
Christine! I love it!!! You are THE BEST!
You have made my night! I can't think of a more perfect song.
THANK YOU!!!!0 -
Oh My! Goodmorning Everyone. This just goes to show you how crazy my life is. Im off work all weekend and I up at 5am. Today, I return to work and I overslept. Its 6:30!! So I dont have much time this morning.
NS: no hot weather here. In fact I had a bit of a chill in my wagon when I woke up. Oh please dont tell me it's time to turn the heat on. Lots of wet leaves on the ground when I came walking over to the camp fire.
I will touch base with you all when I get home.
Shel: Yes, people say the exchange surgery is a piece of cake after their mastectomy. I had the gummy bears put it this past May. I took one week of of work. It still was painful though. It took me about 3 days to feel better. It is still surgery with anesthesia - so maybe put a break on your plans this week and go with how you feel. Pink gummy bears OMG you will never live that down!
Christine, now Im gonna be singing that song all day lol.
Anyways, I gotta go - there is a big pot of coffee for you all when you wake up.
Oh and Mena, you are such a cutie. Good job Peggy!
Everyone have a wonderful day.

Hi Girls,
The virus police have found bad dudes out there.
I received a message from my duaghter in Australia about a couple of very nasty viruses. The warning came via AU police to her university. It is below.
Jeannette
PLEASE INFORM EVERYONE
Emails with pictures of Osama Bin-Laden hanged are being sent and the
moment that you open these emails your computer will crash and you will
not be able to fix it!
If you get an email along the lines of "Osama Bin Laden Captured"
or "Osama Hanged" don't open the attachment.
This e-mail is being distributed through countries around the globe, but
mainly in the US and Israel.
Be considerate & send this warning to whomever you know.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS:
You should be alert during the next days:
Do not open any message with an attached filed called
"Invitation" regardless of who sent it.
It is a virus that opens an Olympic Torch which "burns" the whole hard
disc C of your computer.
This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in
his/her contact list, that is why you should send this e-mail to all
your contacts.
It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus
and open it.
If you receive a mail called "invitation", though sent by a friend, do
not open it and shut down your computer immediately.
This is the worst virus announced by CNN, it has been classified by
Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.
This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair
yet for this kind of virus.
This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the
vital information is kept.0 -

Good afternoon circle girls,
Checking in a bit later today. Survived the weekend with no tornado damage but the town where I work had 3 hit and there is alot of damage. My work building has no issues but one block over you can see the path that it took. It's amazing to see some of the damage. The front of the house can be a total disaster yet in the back the plastic garbage can will not have moved. Lots of cleanup going on here but nobody was hurt so there is alot to be thankful for. Gotta love it when you live where tornados occur. Luckily our wagons were all tied down and there were not any issues.
Kathy-Thinking of you as your husband prepares for surgery. You have so much already you are dealing with and then have that added to your plate. Join the center of the circle and relax,,sit back, enjoy the fire.
Kristin-good luck tomorrow on your chemo. I am sure you have heard it a million times but its not fun but its doable. Drink lots of water and pee and think of those bad cells coming out. If water doesnt taste the greatest drink what does. Listen to your body and rest when you need to. I can suggest to keep a daily journal also and as time goes by you can look back and hopefully develop a pattern and know when will be your better days. Best of luck to you.
Picture Peggy! Great Job! Even stumped Mena on that one.
Vickie-Still have Trenton and family in my thoughts. I know as time goes by the chances of him being alive get slim but I still hold out hope.
Ok thats all the notes I took and chemo brain wont let me recall anything else.
I do remember the quacamole comment I think from Mena and man I love that stuff. I could eat it daily I think but then again I love mexican food and never get tired of it.
The morning here was cool and only 79 degrees today which is wonderful. I think we will not have a day this week over 80. I took my lunch and went to the park and watched the birds play and the wind blow threw the trees. It was so peaceful and relaxing. I will probably get hungry as time goes by but at lunch time I was not hungry at all. Anybody that has taken Xeloda did you have an appetite?
Jumping on Lucy in the sky with diamonds my trusty donkey and taking a ride around the circle. This circle gets bigger and bigger and some of the wagons are very creative. The colors that we all pick blend well together. Well giddy up Lucy and lets start our journey. It takes a while to make the rounds now. I shall return.
Amy0 -
afternoon ladies.....hard to see the edge of the circle ....but I know you are all there, we have a large number of wagons now....thought maybe some rigatoni & meatballs for dinner....nice warm meal that will stick to your ribs....
thank you for all the warm thoughts for my mom, who is home recooping...she's a tough cookie, and did you know they send you home after 2 days from a pace maker?...wow....at least this time I could give her advice on how to take care of the affected arm...(mast surg)....even got her one of my fav bra's ..she loved it so hugs to all....
garlic bread too...yummm....
MB0 -
Hey Circle Girls...checking in to see if Peggy's found the porn pics of me yet hahahahaha....
Amy...I've been meaning to tell you (like about four posts back)...I love Lucy! Seriously...it's one of my favorite names...and the literary relevance to "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" is perfectly suitable...in fact, I'll find another one, if that will make you happier...
I've just been meaning to tell you this and kept forgetting...my note taking is much better when I do it with a pen and paper...
Ok, til later...going to tend to my sick mom...oy...
What's for dinner?...Mena...xo0 -
Sorry about the hoax girls. It came from the Australian national police so they were taken in as well.
We are all humbled.
Jeannette0 -
Jeez Mena...I found them, I just didn't realize you wanted me to POST them LMAO.
P0 -
I knew I had seen that face somewhere Mena! Now its all perfectly clear. I usually only read the articles of course.
Thanks for liking the name Lucy. She likes her name and the very first time I called her that she took right to it. I tried many out on her and she gave no reaction.
I put up fencing on Sunday and little May the baby donkey was so excited when I opened it up for them to check out. She ran and go so excited and bucked around, kicked sideway, bucked up on her back legs and landed on her moms back as if to be asking for a ride. Needless to say Molly the mom wasnt too thrilled with her child. May was very excited though and would buck around and make donkey noises (well if thats what you call a 5 month old attempt at a donkey noise.) Then she would run up to me stare at me in the face and take off again. We also call her Mazer the Tazer so it fit her perfectly on Sunday. I suppose it was her way of saying thank you for the extra area. Her mom Molly was probably saying thank you also so it will give her more places to hide from her "loving" daughter. They now have about 2 acres fenced in and loving it.
Update on my friend Dana....I talked to her mom and she has not gone home yet. The hospital wanted her to go to a short term terminal ill wing and she refused. She said she wanted to go home to die. The arrangements are made to bring her home by ambulance tomorrow. Such a sad story and I just cant imagine not fighting till the end. I guess that just shows you how everyone is different. Me on the other hand wont leave without kicking and screaming. I will be like May. Not really in control of my kicks but giving it my best shot.
Just wanted to give you all an update. Please keep her mom in your thoughts also as she feels so helpless in this situation.
Amy0 -
Well! Good Evening everyone. Today was an absolutely glorious day. Sunny and in the 70's. Even though I woke up late, I got to work on time (so sad - too bad). So I learned its better traffic wise to leave a little later. Everyone at work was so crabby (including me). But I bit my tongue cause Im still working on the "be nice to someone thread' by Peggy.
I have heard from others that they think this thread is exclusive to only a few. So Im standing up on the mountain - lots of echos - THIS IS A PLACE FOR EVERYONE!
So, come join us, come join us, wont you just come join us.
Liz: Im so glad your here. I have missed talking to you on the chat.
Kathy: We have a very special place here for you and your husband. Hope the surgery goes well.
Shel: Even though you can't read this as you are at the hospital right now, we are there with you. Making sure all goes well. Have a special place in the medic wagon. Liz and I will take shifts making sure you have whatever you need.
Cookie: I had a bout with allergies and a cold to boot about 3 weeks ago. The coughing at night was awful. I hope your feeling better real soon.
Baldeagle: Thanks for the warnings. Hoax or not. Its pretty scary. Its sounds like you had a great time in the park.
Mena: You are one unbelievable lady. All that you do while getting chemo - it amazes me. South Beach is going ok. I refuse to give up my wine!! So its slower but I have lost 4 pounds. Have about 20 more pounds to lose. (I have to admit that I have cheated though. I wake up and even though Im half asleep, I raid the refrigerator or cabinets. Had 10 Oatmeal raison cookies this week-end.)
And I didnt exercise today. On my drive home I thought, ok when you get home you will exercise first. Well then I got home, got a glass of wine, and came immediately on the boards.
And talk about food cravings. Mine is olives. I cant stop eating them. Black olive, Green Olives, Italians olives, Greek olives. If its an olive - I want it!!
PurpleMB: Oh the riggatoni and meatballs sounds wonderful. I was gonna bring Italian ice, but it's too cold for that. So what the heck - let's splurge. Tiramasu - should go great with the rib sticking meal. Oh and a nice Salad with olives, pepperochini, tomatoes, red cabbage, and herbs from my garden. Good for low fat. Have some great balsamic vinegar with just a tweek of olive oil. And if you want, I will shread some romano cheese on top.
Pacemakers: When I was a younger nurse in the 80's I work in CCU and cardiac telemetry. People usually stayed 4-5 days. Not like that anymore. 2 days and wham bam thank you mam - your discharged. Sometimes people are so frail, they have to come to the snf where I worked to get PT. So hope all is well with your mom.
Amy: I just love Lucy. Im singing Lucy in the sky with diamonds right now. I get such a visual picture of her. Does she smile and show her teeth?
Kristin: Dear Kristin, I save you for last. It was one year ago I first started chemo. I cant tell you how upset I was in the beginning that it was a big part of my treatment plan. The first chemo is the hardest JMO. Walking into the office, looking up at the nurses with worry in my eyes. When they started giving me the chemo, I couldnt believe it was me. I thought this is a movie. This isnt happening to me. So I came home and layed in bed. Picture me arms and legs out, just waiting for the side effects to begin. I waited and I waited. The next morning I woke up and still no nausea. Then I realized. Hey! I got through this one ok and now Im in the countdown.
Chemo is accumulative, so I dont want you to think I breezed through it cause I didnt. But it was easier than I imagined. I did work during chemo, taking off on certain days.
Sister, you are gonna be just fine. We are here for you. We been through it, we understand, and we will walk you through it step by step. And just remember, we have the medic tent in the circle. Liz and I will take good care of you.
THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE? If it were not for the ladies on these boards and chat I would have been totally lost. I drank water. I drank 4 bottles the night before chemo. I drank 3 bottles before chemo and 1 bottle during chemo. Then drank 2 more bottles when I got home. I truelly believe that my side effects were less because of the water.
And like someone said, if you cant drink water, something. Lemonade, diluted fruit juice.
So once again sweet Kristin, tomorrow if you get really scared, I want you to feel me squeezing your hand, and picture all the other sisters around you. We will carry you if you need to. And who better to give you advice than someone whose name is chemosabi?
Well ok, now that I have written a book, its time to go for a while. Hope everyone has a wonderful week-end. (oops sorry its the wine) Hope everyone has a great evening. If I have a chance I will peak in, otherwise see ya in the morning.
Peggy: As always, your the greatest.
Nicki0 -
I know, I know your tired of me! Don't have much time checking other threads. So many friends here to talk to.
Debbyfive: (puppy) Leaving is not allowed. Your having a stressful time, others are having surgery today, emotions get out of control. BUT! we are here for each other through thick and thin. No good byes. True friends forgive and forget.
I just put a few logs on the fire. Hear its gonna get chilly tonight.
Time to go
Nicki0 -
Afternoon girls. It's been a heck of a day for me as my in-laws are now thinking of moving to where I live and I had to go try to find an assisted living facility for them. Hello? My husband is one of 4 - why can't the daughter who doesn't work do this? Already decided to put a stop to this before it gets worse. I know I'm a bad daughter in law but I have my own mom to care for as well as myself. Okay enough of my complaining.
Nicki I have missed you also. So glad I'll be able to help out in the Medic tent. So tell - what type of exercise are you doing and what do you eat on the South Beach?
MB rigatoni & meatballs sound wonderful with everything Nicki is bringing think I'll whip up a nice peach cobbler and some homemade ice cream for dessert. I know it's very fattening isn't it? But so yummy.
Kristen you will do great once you get in that chair, get hooked up and see that even though it's not the funnest thing in the world you've ever done, you will get through it. I drank so much water the day before, day of and day after chemo I lived in the bathroom. But like Nicki, I believe that's what helped me get along as well as I did.
Kathy nice to meet you and your husband. Good thoughts and prayers are definetely headed your way.
Amy it is hard to watch a friend who is terminal. I did it years ago but was so glad I was able to be there for her and her family. Prayers for them and you.
Shel just yell and I'll come running to do whatever I can to help you recover.
Mena! Oh yum! Guacamole my favorite. And hey kiddo, you are a cutey!
Peggy good job and surely Mena wouldn't mind your posting the others you found!
I know I've missed several but know that you're in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs
Liz

Live, Laugh, Love - tomorrow is promised to no one.0 -
Girls, just wanted to apologize for complaining in my previous post. So many have much more on their plate than I do with my in-law situation. Just was very frustrated and needed to vent.
Hugs
