(((Brenda)))...hope you have a better day tomorrow.
Night all and sweet dreams.
Vickie0 -
Okay, I'm finished lootin...I mean looking thru wagons. You wouldn't believe the stuff I saw,(oh yea, Naniam, I won't tell anyone what was in yours. Your secret is safe with me!!!)
We are usually hard at work in the circle and don't have the time for distractions. Today is no different! My focus, while smelling the glorious fall air, is sending hugs and prayers, well wishes and messages of hope.
NS, my heart goes out to your friend and all who love her.
Denise0 -
Thanks Brenda. I hope your day is better tomorrow. Which will probably be around the time this post actually gets loaded.0
-
Ah, a peaceful night once again.
0 -
Newvickie, I do have my glasses around my neck or I would lose them constantly. In fact I'm selling beaded neckchains. LOL
You know if you have to lose something, it's probably better to lose your boobs than your head!!!
Brenda You are a circle girl! don't forget that. Jasmine, glad you stuck it out to explain. Hugs to all who need it tonite.
Susan0 -
I've got some hot cocoa and some warm brownies for anyone who wants some
peace
vera0 -
I got some marshmallows for the fire and then turned them into cripy treats! Sory for those who wanted the mallows. But the treat are good - added chocolate chips for fun.. so have a nibble before you hit the hay. I did put up a big pot of mulled cider for those who are lactose intolerant and don't do the cocoa.
Jeannette0 -
cider sounds wonderful, my I please have a cup?
yummy
peace
vera0 -

Evening girls, Just a short note hoping all is well.
I've been at the hospital with my mother-in-law all day. She was admitted into ICU with a possible GI bleed. Everyone decided that since I was "medically knowledgable" I should stay to talk with the doctor. Yep, just what I need - LOL.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes re: my tooth. You'd think after all this BC stuff I've been through this would be a breeze but I am a mega chicken when it comes to dentist.
It's cool here this evening and raining so I'm going to snuggle down in my wagon and try to sleep. Sitting in the hospital is so tiring.
Hugs and prayers to all.
Liz0 -
Liz,
I am with you on the tooth business. The dentist pronounced that I had an infected tooth - needed antibiotics and then a root canal! I hate the mere thought of it! Meantime my jaw is thobbing and waiting for the meds to kick in. Hope you have better luck with your tooth.
Jeannette0 -
Maybe you just winged it and it flew off or under your car
peace
vera0 -
Liz, I hope your mother in law is better soon. As far as the dentist, I have been in over three years. I just keep hoping for the best.

But we also found out today that it wouldn't be enough and she has only a few days.>>
I'm so very sorry. I'll keep her in my thoughts.0 -
Just Leigh saying goodnight after a few days away -- so glad to see Sheri's good scan news, that Nicki's bronchitis is being treated at last, and I finally saw Susan's Stars - really made me smile.
Shel - There are lots of cliches about being alone beating a bad relationship any day - I'll just say in my experience there does come a point after we 'escape' that whatever we're feeling feels so much better than how it felt to be 'in it'.
ns - So sorry about your friend...keeping her and those who love her in my thoughts and prayers.
Liz - hope your MIL is resting comfortably tonight, and YOU TOO!
Thinking about pumpkin chocolate chip cookies - will make some for the office and keep some for the folks around and in the circle who need a little comfort food now and then.
Tucked the husband unit in bed already - need to do a little clean up (after the hot flash passes - 2nd week of Tamoxifen, only effect so far is slight intensification of the flashes - end of whine)
'nite, al Leigh0 -

p.s. thank you darling boyfriend for giving me the space to be with my wonderful sisters!0 -
This is just a quick fly-by post to let you know all is well with me. I am edging up toward the end of rads and my skin is doing really well. My best friend from Michigan ( not the one that was just DX with BC) is here to spend the week with me, So I have not had much time for the computer. I have been telling her all about you guys though. I realized this week what an important part of my healing you all have been...so a huge THANKS to ALL of you.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
I have told some of you that I am a writer. One of the things I do is a little column for our tiny local newspaper. I write little stories and interviews with people in the community. I asked if the editor would mind if I wrote a column as a thank-you to the community and about BC awareness. It ran today and I have gotten 10 e-mails from readers already...some from fellow cancer survivors or caregivers. I had a guy write to me to tell me HE made an apointment for his wifes mamo, and a dinner reservation for afterwards. Two women wrote to say they made thier appointments today. I don't usually blow my own horn, but I'm going to post my column here...It felt really good do this...
In this space I normally introduce you to your Sterling neighbors. This week I want to do something a little different. I want to take a few minutes to tell you my story.
Those of you who know me, or have seen me around town this summer know I currently dont look much like the photo of me to the left. I spent all summer bald and am just now sprouting new hair. For the last 10 months I have been actively battling breast cancer.
I want to share this with you for two reasons. First, I have so many people in this community to thank. There has been an almost indescribable outpouring of love and concern from the community. Whole churches of people I dont know have been praying for me for months. Meals appear at the house with regularity, and let me tell you, there are some awesome cooks in the area! People have taken my kids to soccer practice and cheered for them at sporting events I couldnt attend. My mail box has been filled with cards that have held prayers and hugs and laughter. I dont know how I will ever be able to pay back all the love and help our family has received. I hope that I am able to spend a lot of years trying.
The other reason for this column is to remind all the women out there to get their annual mammogram.
I know, I know youre busy. You dont have the money, or the time. Your doctor is going to bug you about the 10 pounds you gained this year. You are afraid it will hurt. You dont want to know what they will find. I have heard all the excuses.
Do it anyway.
My experience is a perfect example of why you need to go. I couldnt feel my lump. After my first mammogram found my cancer, even the doctor couldnt feel it. If I had not gone in for my mammogram there is a good likelihood that my story would have a very different ending.
So this year, in honor of October being breast cancer awareness month, get your mammogram. Men, talk to your wife about going and then take her to lunch afterward. Make your sister go. Make a date and go with a group of friends to all get squished together. If you are afraid, call me. I would be honored to go with you and hold your hand. Do it as a personal favor to me.
OK, Im off my soapbox for now. Next week Ill be back here introducing you to another cool person who lives in Sterling. In the mean time, Thanks to the whole community from the bottom of my heart.0 -
Great column, Deb! What a wonderful way to recognize BC awareness month and prompt women to take breast health seriously!
*Hugs*

Good Morning everyone! Morning watch has arrived. I woke up this morning and its amazing what a little antibiotic will do for ya. Im feeling so much better. Thank you for all of your well wishes.
I did the goofiest thing. Rented the movie "The Stand" and watched it all day yesterday. Its about the "Super Flu" for those of you who havent seen it. Yesterday I sounded just like the people in the movie. Weird one to watch when you are sick.
Its a very chilly, rainy morning here at the circle. Have a tent right by the campfire. Its the kind of rain that chiils your bones. But the fire is warm. Daylight will gradually arrive with no sunrise to see today. The ground is covered with wet leaves that have turned their colors and have now fallen to the ground. I suspect after this rain and cold front that is on the way, many trees will look naked. Fall moving forward to winter. SNOW! Yes, I hear there will be snow showers tonight. Rolling Stones concert at Soldiers Field is gonna be pretty awful. Rainy and cold - Chicago style. My onc has tickets, hope he stays warm.
Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate ready for anyone when they wake up. I still dont have an appetite (no for me thats good) so Im gonna leave breakfast to someone else. Dont want you to get my germs anyways.
Just wanted to start out by saying, All are welcome. I smile each time I see a new person come here to the circle. Either to support others or get support. We must always make this a safe place to come and visit. And protect each other. Be kind to each other. Understand each other. And forgive each other.
Jasmine: Im so glad you are here. You have been here from the begining and have been supportive to many. So sending you hugs and peace.
Brenda: Im sorry you were having such a bad day. I hate those days. Just come to the middle of the circle. Maybe come sit by the fire with me. We could talk and cry and laugh.
Leigh: I am so sorry. I am an animal lover. Gives you a sinking feeling in your stomach when you think you have hit one with your car. But maybe vera is right and it just flew away.
Deb C: Great article. You should be proud of yourself.
Carrie and Susan: What great costumes. I havent decided what Im gonna wear yet. I laughed at the costume pics. They were great.
Lisa: Oh Im up early and on my horse. Ready to be there with you when you go see the doctor. Hope the clinical trial starts and the waiting stops. If ya get scared, just look up, you will see all of us there.
Liz: OMG! If its not one thing its another. I hope your MIL is doing well. Spending time at the hospital in the ICU area is awful. And its tiring. Cant imagine having to do that and deal with a toothache. Now make sure you take care of yourself.
Oh there are so many of you I have missed. Sending hugs to Vickie, Lini, PurpleMB, NS, Debbiefive, Sheri, Tracey, kristin, and Cheryl. If I have forgotten you, its only cause you are close to my heart.
Looking for Mena, Marla, and Peggy.
Gotta go - time to take my medicine
Nicki0 -
Hi Ladies: I love your group and although I haven't formally "joined" I check in regularly and thoroughly enjoy all the fun. Just wanted to comment on Deb's column - what a great way to "thank" your community! I've communicated with you in the past RE the time I spent in Alaska - I've had fun over the past few months trying to figure out where you lived. I was sure it was Seward...but now I know...Sterling! My hubby and I worked many, many years ago in Cooper Landing at(now gone)Sportsman's Lodge. My first intro to Sterling back then - one day we were hitchhiking (yikes, can you believe there was a time when we hitchhiked - don't let my kids read this) and we waited for hours to get a ride back to Cooper Landing. There was a kid in an ATV who rode his vehicle back and forth in front of us the entire time - we figured there must not have been a lot to do in Sterling.
I hope all you circle gals are enjoying your day.
best wishes, Cathy0 -
Good Morning everyone. Guess the weather is going to change as we have lost our crystal clear sky and it is gray and overcast. That is the thing I dread about the winter months, gray and overcast.
Nicki, thanks for having the coffee, hot chocolate and tea ready. I think I will have to have tea this morning. It is good to hear that the meds have kicked in and you are starting to feel better. Now that was one crazy movie to rent with what you have been feeling lately. Every time I try to diet, and I mean everytime, I get sick and most often it it bronchitis. My body finds a way to fight my dieting all the time. I'll meet you in the middle of the circle in a little while thanks for the offer.
Deb C I come and check in here and have read your beautiful stories about the lakes and wildlife in Alaska. Your description always makes me feel as if I can close my eyes and I am there. Glad that you are fast approaching the end of your rads - I thought I would run out of that place. Got old, very old, to get up and go 5 days a week. Your article on breast cancer awareness was good and I am glad that you have had a good response. Like you, couldn't feel mine, doctor couldn't feel mine and mammo did.
Lisa, I am so proud of you - proud that you have entered a clinical trial and still slugging away at the beast. You will be be wrapped in love and prayers here.
Liz, sorry to hear about your MIL. Nicki is right, hospitals just suck the energy out of you when you are there anxious with family. Bring your sleeping bag and just come lay by the warmth of the fire for awhile
RobinTN and DebbyFive, JoJo, hope you are having better days and feel like checking in very soon. Mena, Amy, Purpleplum, Peggy, and many others that I have forgotton since I failed to write down names, miss you and can only pray that you are OK and will check in soon.
NS saying a prayer for your friend and her family and praying that as the end of the journey nears that they can find comfort in each other and the promise of meeting again. Also, saying a prayer for you this morning that you will get a good report from your test - we are all marching along side you so I do hope they have a big waiting room. I bet they don't keep you waiting either when they see how many are there.
Remembering Vincent and Trenton, Deese and Carrie in my prayers also.
Susan, I need some help with a costume, think you could help me with some suggestions. I have never been good with costumes and I am not tall enough to do the Jolly Green Giant thing. Jasmine, hope your day is off to a good start. IF you see a good costume, let me know or if you aren't creative either maybe we both need Susan to get us decked out. However, I would rather not share my size so could we just do "one size fits all"?
Sunshine doesn't seem abundant today so we will have to count on the "inside" sunshine to carry us through today.
Time to close and head to work. Blessings everyone,0 -

Morning all...gray and dreary here today too. Time to stoke up the fire and cozy in for a few days. It's supposed to be a sunny weekend so maybe a little fun in the leaves will be in order...
Welcome Cathy...nice to see new faces.
Naniam...come to the center for some warm hugs and anything else you need. Hoping you feel better very soon. The cold gray weather gets to me too. Thanks for thinking of Trenton and others when you feel so bad yourself...your a wonder.
Liz...hoping you get rid of that toothache soon...sending prayers your way for you and your family.
Denise...peeking in the wagons! Did you see my new "throw"!!
Nicki...I read the uncut version of "The Stand"...great book...really scary thought though! Please take care of yourself and get better soon.
Alaska Deb...What a wonderful article. It sounds like you have some really wonderful people surrounding you and heres hoping they take your message seriously.
Hugs to all...vera (hmmm...may have a cat fight over all those men!...kidding, I'll share), ns, susan, jasmine, jeanette, lini, tracey, liz, leigh, cheryl, laura, kristine, purplemb...everyone!!!
Posse needs to be sent to find our Peggy, Mena and Marla!
Have a wonderful day one way or another

Hey Cathy- you're here and whether reading or posting, you are already part of the circle. Welcome! I don't post too often here, but contribute when I can. They all know how I feel and even if I am not typing it, I am always close by with the the brightest healing light, sweet soft prayers and all postive healing energy. Right, CGs?0 -
Good Morning circle girls,
I guess you all notice my morning doesnt start as early as chemosabi's. It actually does start but I usually get up, get ready, get my son to school and get to work before my discussion board starts so I am really not as lazy as it appears that I am.
Nicki-so glad to hear that your meds are kicking in and you are starting to feel better. Rest and relax and thanks for having the tea and coffee ready for me. I needed it this morning.
Ronda-My camper also has the skylight over the shower and it is so nice when the moon is bright. I will be camping this weekend and believe it or not Alabama is expecting a low of 36 or so. I am packing my winter covers and might even have to turn the heat on. I also loved your words about the house not being as clean as it used to be but that you sure are living good. Breast cancer can really make you step back and realize what living good is. Thanks for the wonderful words.
NoSurrender-sorry to hear about your friend and my prayers are with you and her. You always have the best things to say when you write and I look forward to your words daily. Thanks for being you!
Susan-A party! Count me in. Lets see what should I bring???
Lisa-thinking of you and your doctors appointment today and hoping you get the news you are wanting. There is a treatment out there for you no doubt. I also enjoyed the biscuits and gravy yesterday. Southern cooking is really coming to ya isnt it?
Lizws-I know what you mean about being a chicken about the dentist. I fear the dentist more than I did my mastectomy and something is just wrong with that.
NewVickie-laughed out loud about your comments about losing your boobs instead of your head. I still loose my boobs on a daily basis. In fact, I was getting ready this morning and realized my boobs were in the car from where I took them off yesterday when I got to the farm to feed the animals. It seems as if I am always walking around with a bewildered look on my face wondering where I left my boobs last.
Deese-while you were out lootin, I mean looking did you get anything good? You may have even seen my boobs somewhere. thank goodness I didnt leave them by the fire or they might be melted boobs.
AlaskaDeb-great article as always. I didnt know that you were a writer but I could see it all over your post. When i read your post it is as if I am in Alaska with you. You have a gift.
Catmac-Cathy as catherine also said there is no joining to this group. You show up, you read and sometimes post therefore you are a circle girl. Welcome, pull you up a chair by the fire or roll you over a log to sit on and relax. We are always here for laughter and support for whoever might need it.
Leigh-I am also the animal lover as I am sure it is obvious from my post considering I cant say no to any animal and I feel your pain knowing that you hit something. I am just going by what Vera said and feel certain that it flew off-There goes those rose colored glasses again.
Lets see, I am certain I missed some. I know Peggy hasnt been around and where is Mena? I sure hope she didnt come to Alabama for the warm weather because it will be cold here this weekend and I would hate to disappoint her. I might better take my baby donkey, Mazer the Tazer for a walk and see if I can find them. If anybody sees a donkey run by dragging something,,,save me. Shes full of Pi$$ and vinager so ya just never know. Such a cutie though and cant help but give her kisses.
Ok, has everybody kissed their animals this morning? Give them a big squeeze and let them know they are loved. Who else can put up with our crazy moods all the time and still love us unconditionally?
I will be back later. tossing a few logs on the fire to keep it going until I return. Amy0 -
<---------is here but is trying to figure out what the HECK to do with the throw!

SERIOUSLY...thank you all so much for being worried about me!
Believe it or not, I've been enjoying 'real life' lately...it's nice...been awhile!
Hugs
