San Diego so deserved that win!  What a Great game!  It would be cool to see them go all the way although I'd love to see the Packers beat New England!

Sahalie:   I admire Brett Favre and would love to see him win this Super Bowl and then retire.

Margo:   thank you.  That's a nice thing for the 6 Mavericks finalists to do.  10's of thousands, wow!

Sahalie, Yes I am considering the testing.  I do know that so many genes play a role in getting breast cancer so even if I were to test negative it doesn't mean my relatives won't get it.  But if I test positive I guess I'd owe it to them to tell them and then they can be extra vigilent.  Thank you for your input!

Nickie - Good to "see" you tooLaughing. I haven't been on the boards much lately. Life keeps interfering! I think about and miss everyone each day. I've been trying to pop in to keep up on CY but other then that I am pretty clueless

Angel - I was also sent to a genetic counseler who made the recommendation about my testing. I have 2 BRCA 2 mutations that are of "uncertain significance". Undecided Unfortunately the answers that you get from testing are not always clear. Good luck at the onc. tommorrow. I have an onc. appt on Tues.

Deb - Oh my BRRRRRRRR. Come down to FL. It was 76 today!

Jan - Your pictures are so beautiful. Thank you for posting them.

    Hi to all

    Hugs

    Sue

    Good Sunday evening everyone!!

Been away for a bit with some stomach problems and then yesterday with DH's birthday.  Had some friends over for dinner

Charlene, being much older than you when diagnosed, I didn't think about genetic testing and it was never mentioned to me.  My daughter is married and has two little girls.  There is lots of cancer on my dad's side - my grandfather had bladder cancer, an aunt a rare form of leukemia, another aunt with breast cancer and I think my grandfather had at least one sister die from cancer.  There is nothing on my mom's side though.  My sister has bladder cancer and I of course BC.  When they ask us questions about breast cancer, they never really look at the father's side - only the mothers.  I've often wondered and that has bothered me.  When there seems to be lots of cancer, even different kinds in families, I think I read there is other ones that show up just not maybe BRCA - that would be a good question for the genetics person.  I think that was fairly new thinking.

If I were in you shoes with young daughters, I would want to know - anything to spare our daughters the pain we have know.  Good luck with your decision.  You have gotten some good advice before I posted but it is something I've wondered about - worried about for some of my nieces too.

Gina, great picture of you and Fern.  Glad she felt like traveling - thank you for posting.

I've go so much business and personal stuff to get ready for taxes - got a darn Federal census form for the business that is "required" per their letter so if I'm not here for a bit or pop in and out just to say hi, that is what is going on.

I haven't read back so hope I haven't missed something going on with a sister.

Odalys did see that your Mom was doing better - hope that is still true.

Puppy, you feeling better?  Good to see your post.

Lots to work on before heading for work tomorrow - some days I'm not sure if I have that much more to do or if I just do everything much slower!!

    Take care.  Blessings,  Brenda

Hi everyone. Yes the Chargers did it. Amazing. I thought the Colts were going to be the test but next week is really the big test. I was glad to see the Giants win too.

Our San Diego Lunch Bunch luncheon was today. What a wonderful group. We had 10 bc survivors from here and 1 friend. It is just such a fun time to share with others from these boards. SoCal posted our picture on the Get Togethers section.

Charlene and Wild/Jan-Did either of you get the PM's I sent you?

O.K. the family is telling me they are hungry. Off to figure out dinner.

Sahalie, do you live around here?  I'm on the Peninsula.  Storm weather has been horrible but it looks clear for the week anyway. My mom had BC and a mastectomy and my sister had BC and also had a mastectomy.

Charlene, my sister won't have the genetic testing done because she feels it's a red flag to the insurance companies but we're already flagged anyway.

Sahalie:  Thank you,  hopefully my Onc will be helpful to me with this as well!  XOXO

Boo Sue:   Doesn't that suck?  Unfortunately that seems to be the way it is with a lot of things with breast cancer ... unclear!  Thank you, good luck at your Onc appt. on Tuesday!  I'm jealous, I want it to be 76 here!

Nanium:  Thanks.  I do think they are looking closer when there are all kinds of cancers in a family for genetic testing.  Also, I just recently read an article about researchers realizing that the cancer on a fathers side may play a much bigger, if not even more important role, when it comes to breast cancer.  This is all preliminary and being researched now though.  More than anything I want this for my daughters.  I just pray that by the time they are 30 we will have a cure.  That's still 21 years away for my oldest daughter and 28 years for my youngest!

BMD:  As a Steelers fan I was sooo happy to see Dallas lose!  (sorry Shokk, I know it hurts!).   I'll have to go check out the photo on the Get Togethers thread.  I always love seeing those.  I sent you a PM.

Margo:  I agree with you about us already being flagged.  I'm on my ex-husbands insurance and I dread the day when I have to get my own.

Well off to bed with me.  Hoping everyone has a peaceful nights rest. and pleasant dreams!

Good Morning to everyone in the Wagon Circle.  Dont have much time - back to work means very little computer time for me.

Im stunned that the Cowboys lost yesterday.  Im stunned that the Colts lost yesterday.  2 big upsets in one day - amazing.

Margo:  I found the genetic testing more interesting that the actual brca test.  Amazing what things come out when you track your history.  My paternal grandmother passed at an early age of ovarian cancer.  My mom had breast cancer.  My 46 year old sister passed from ovarian cancer.  There was no doubt in my mind that I had the brca gene.  Although I must admit getting the results were anticlimatic cause by the time I got the results I had already decided on a bil. mast.  My insurance paid for my testing cause I fit the criteria - but its scary that they can use those results against a person.  Dont like the thought of that much at all.  Hope you have a good day.

Brenda/BMD:  Cognratulations on the Chargers.  I saw the picture from the luncheon.  Seems like your group gets bigger and bigger each time.

Boo/Sue:  So glad to see you.  Life interfering?  Thats not such a bad thing.  Means your keeping busy and enjoying life a bit.  During the week its hard for me to find as much comptuer time as I would like to have.  Sending big hugs your way.

Margo:  Nice that the 6 finalists split the money.  I would love to see those waves.

OK - gotta go.  My shower is calling me. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

    Good Morning

There were a lot of sad faces here yesterday when the Colts lost. I never watch, I don't know what they are doing anyway.

. My onc wanted me to have the brca test because my daughter and I were dx the same year with ca, me with bc and her with uterine and ovarian. The following year my son was dx with lymphoma. I was negative. They apparently got the gene from their fathers side. He died at age 42 with lung cancer.

Puppy...hope you are on the mend. A sore mouth and throat is miserable.

Wild Jan-excellent picture!  Thanks for posting it here so many of us can see it.

Deb-a heated garage,,well that makes alot of sense.  I can say I never thought about that but never had a reason to either.

Charlene-thinking of you today and your onc appointment.

Sue-nothing wrong with being busy, in fact thats a good thing.

margaret-yes a stylus would be nice but knowing me it would come out of the phone and I would loose it.  Lots of phones do come with a stylus but I'm not a stylus kinda person I dont think. lol

BMD-I was glad the Chargers won.  Congrats!

Sahalie-excellent surfer pic.  I bet Maverick was alot of fun and glad the weather was great.

Candie-the aqua class sounds nice and its much easier to me to aquacise.  Joining the class is the first step.

Well off to get some work accomplished and off my desk.  Everyone have a great day.

Hi all.  I've been lurking lately and not posting.  I wanted to drop by and say hi!

Wild/Jan, those pics you post are awesome!!!!! Did you take any photography or art classes?

    Hi Angel!

    And Amy!

Nicki, are you a Dallas fan?  Being from the Philly area, the Cowboys aren't our favorite team, LOL!

Since I received my afghan, I started crocheting and I'm going to start making squares for the project.

    Take care all.

Biker54>I only had a year in art in high school. Mostly learning how to use different mediums none being photography...about bored my teacher to death with all the horses I did LOL! I used to do pencil drawings...never persued it any further though. I did alot of crafts over the years instead, gave most of that stuff away as presents. The last big thing I did craft wise I was making arabian costumes for model horses to sell on ebay which I don't do anymore. They actually have shows with the models all over the nation. I entered one time and got several high placed ribbons for the costumes. I have never been to an arabian horse show but that may change as they are doing Arabian Nationals here in Tulsa this year or next year!

Here's a website I had when I was selling my costumes to show you what I had done...I made the sheiks too, bought the dolls off ebay.

Home from work and tired.  23 degrees today with a wind/chill and its only gonna get colder each day.

It really is so good to see new and older members coming back here.  We allhave so much support to give and share with each other.

Candie: The aqua class sounds like so much fun.  Im pretty out of shape myself but finding each day its getting a little better.  I would just love to go swimming - its my favorite exercise.

Wild/Jan:  That picture of the moon is amazing.

Doris:  Those fans must be heartbroken.  It was a really big upset.  I just sat there with my mouth open and couldnt believe it.  I know how I would feel if it were the Bears.  When its comes to genes - I really believe we are just at the beginning.  So many more out there to find.  Maybe thats where the cure is.  Who knows anymore.

BMD:  Im laughing cause I just want to do a quickie too.  Need to go put my feet up for a while.

Janny:  Glad you decided to stop lurking and came to say hello.  NO!  Im not a Dallas fan.  Im a BEARS fan lol.  I was just surprised at the outcome of both games yesterday.  The favorite odds were for Cowboys and Colts to win.  I was ready for championship games to be Cowboys vs GreenBay and Colts vs Patriots.  Now they have my whole mind mixed up.

    Gotta go

Hi from a great Giants fan here!!

I was just reading back and about the brca testing...I had it done last year and brca 1 was negative but brca 2 was inconclusive. So I am an "I don't know". My genetics counselor says the mutation found has never been seen before...yep, that would be me. I asked her what do I do...she says nothing at this point. I have toyed with having a hysterectomy to play safe but I just don't know. Good luck to anyone going to Dr's appts, having tests, scans.

Going to the gym...have a great night.

Love to all from A to Z,

    Hugs and prayers,

Candie me too! That was what was found on my genetic test!

Nicki you are right, it is getting to be like the old days again and it is great. I love to see this as an active topic again.

Had an "incident" in Whole Foods-

It was so crowded that I accidently knocked over a display of pint containers of grape tomatoes- they went everywhere. About TEN containers opened. Of course NYers kept walking all over them. Finally a WFs guy came and helped me pick them up. I asked him if I had to pay for them and he said What do you think this is? a China shop??? LOL

Those giants have really got everyone talking around here!!!!!

Oh my gosh GINA...that had to be a wild sight to see!

NICKI>brrrr 23? It was a warm 50 for a high today and the sun actually felt warm. The horses and goats and cows and birds were all napping in the warm sun as I went out to take pics this afternoon.

CHARLENE>how did your onc apt go? I panicked this morning around 9am when I saw on my calendar that DH was supposed to be at his bone doc's at 8:15am. Turns out it had been canceled when his surgery apt was made...whew.

DORIS IN>wow...thats a lot of cancer in your immediate family! It must be driving you crazy!

I posted a pic at AccuWeather to ask what planet or star was so brilliant in the morning sky before sunrise. A guy who takes telescope pics of the moon told me it was Venus! I had been seeing it the last few sunrises while taking pics.

I guess since the Cowboy's lost, I'm rooting for the Chargers now. DH told me last night that is San Diego's team...duh me I had no idea. Shows you how much I know about football.

Wow, so many posts since the last time I was here! I'm never going to catch up. Nice to see so many posting. It feels like the old days. Love all the pics!  Sending many hugs to all.

Update on Mom, her infection cleared. She is stable again and was just discharged home tonight. This crisis is over.  Thanks to everyone for all your thoughts and prayers.

I haven't been feeling well since Friday. I've been experiencing a sharp stabbing pain on my right lung. It hurts to breathe deeply. Motrin is not doing much for the pain. It seems to feel better when I am lying down but the minute I get up and start walking around the sharp stabbing pain begins again.  Today I had to take off the bra as it was unbearable.  I will be having a CT scan of the chest on Wednesday morning and will see Onc afterwards. Yikes...I don't even want to think about the possibility of mets. It does not feel like a muscular pain, more like fluid in my lungs...pneumonia....maybe?  If the pain does not get better by tomorrow morning I'm going to our ER.  Never a dull moment.....grrrrrr

Count me in for Pinskstock 08.  Have y'all decided on a date?  I want to make sure I ask for time off.

Hope the weather is behaving in your town tonight and everyone is snoggled and comfy right now.

    Love and hugs,

Odalys... that is great news about your mom.  I'm so happy that she has improved.  Could your lung pain possibly be pleurisy?  I hope they find what is causing your pain and that it is something that can be remedied quickly.

Good night all...have a good nights sleep.

Gina, I just thought...you think they don't really know what they are doing with these brca tests cause someone else on here said their's was inconclusive too. Tho my genetics counselor did say that they haven't tested enough people yet as it hasn't been around that long.

Well everything went great at my Onc appt. She doesn't even need to see me for 6 months unless there's a problem. I guess that's one advantage of no longer having any female body parts left!

She did refer me to a genetic counselor while we were there but while we were there we called and got her voice mail. I'm waiting for a call back to make an appointment with them.

Amy .. Thanks for thinking about me today. I've been thinking of you too and hope you're feeling okay.

Janny .. Hey girl! Ha, I know your Eagles have a big rivalry with Dallas! The Steelers just hate Dallas too. LOL

Candie .. That's the down side of these tests. The unknown of what the result will be and then what will you do with that information? I've already had a hyter/oopherectomy and bilateral mastectomies. I want to know for my daughters and sisters sake.

Wild/Jan ... Oh wow, are we going to get to see Venus next from you? Thanks for asking about my Onc appt. It went great! When is your DH's surgery? I've done that very same thing you did with appts. that I no longer needed but left on the calendar. It's so hard to always be on top of everything!

BMD ... Hello to you! I PM'd you.

Odalys ... So happy to hear your mom is doing better. As for you, not so happy to hear about your pain. I know what you're thinking and I can't wait for your scan results to rule that out! Let us know.

Jasmine ... Hi girlfriend! Great talking to you today as always!

Lisa ... Nice to see you pop in! How about some of your awesome pictures here! I miss seeing them.

Well it's late and I'm in serious need of sleep. Thanks to everyone who game me some things to think about regarding the BRCA genetics testing.

Missing Neesie, Suzfive, Colleen and Tricia among others.  Has anyone heard from Tricia?
