You're a power house and an inspiration...in so many ways!0 -
Have any of you seen the Illinois Lottery Tickets that have a pink ribbon on them? A portion of the proceeds goes to breast cancer initiatives. This past Christmas, everyone on my list got some from me. I thought it was a great "cause" and several actually won $$$ from them. But anyway...I wanted to share with you a recent press release re: the proceeds from the sale of these tickets. It's great! 2 million dollars was recently handed out to several breast cancer organizations. Each organization had to submit a report stating why they thought they should receive some of the funds...this goes to show that supporting our cause, really does make a difference! Here's the linkie:

Yesterday was just beautiful. I had to go to Evanston Hospital, so I stopped by Lake Michigan, took my shoes and socks off and walked along the shore.
Hoping everyone has a great day. Gotta run - between work and exercise, I dont have much computer time.
Nicki0 -
Good morning everybody!
Laura, thanks for the link to the Ticket for a Cure. I have not seen these lottery tickets but will keep an eye out for them now. I really like the idea because the grants are going to some of the smaller hospitals. I lived for 22 years in Macomb and they got a grant, which I'm sure was really needed. Thanks for sharing!
I beat Nicki this morning so I logged on to a rather non-descript link today. See what you started Nicki? Now we look for your daily graphics! You made yourself more work!
We got another rain last night and the creek behind my house if pretty full and flowing rapidly. I do believe that you Chicago gals have had more rain than we have, though. When we went to Joliet on Saturday we noticed all the little rivers and creeks that were out of their banks.
I wish everybody a good day today. I'm off to write a few questions for the guy in Wheaton who purchased my business. It's the very end of his busy season and he needs all the help he can get. Then I'm off to walk our 3 mile route with a golfing friend. We started doing this last week but the 6 pounds that I've gained on chemo have not even started to budge. YIKES! Guess I'll just keep up the regiment and hopefully I'll lose a few during the radiation phase....just in time to gear up for the last two chemo treatments. :-)
Have a good day everybody!
Rita0 -
Guess I didn't beat Nicki. I think we were posting at the same time. Thanks for the graphics, Nicki. Wish I would have been walking with you barefoot in the water yesterday! You keep all of us smiling!
Rita0 -
Hi everyone, just dropping in to say hi and glad everyone is doing good. The weather is great and that always makes us feel better when we can get out and everything is budding and green. I didn't know about the lottery tickets but I will buy some, I never play but hubby does so this will be a good reason to play. Mary

Hi everyone,
Rita, my next treatment is tomorrow (Wednesday). I agree, this weather has been great!!
Laura, thanks for the lottery ticket info. I hadn't heard of those before. At least now if I buy a ticket I won't be totally wasting my money!
Nicki, I'm envious of you walking in the water, sounds like fun!
Wendy0 -
Wendy,
I thought maybe you were up for another treatment tomorrow. That means you, Ginny, and I are all just one day apart this week. Let's think positive. We're all going to get through our treatments just fine and have little or no side affects. Be sure to let us know how you do! Are you a lady of leisure for now or are you trying to juggle treatments with a work schedule?
The sun is out. I'm heading for the golf course this afternoon to play nine holes and see how I do. It will be my Cubs cart's maiden voyage on the course. Hmmmmmmmmm..........sure would be nice if it would help my golf game!
Have a great day everyone. Good luck tomorrow, Wendy!!!

Hi all. I'm doing okay- the swelling is still bad under my right arm, but I'm getting more range of motion out of the left arm. I haven't been around because my sister in law had a death in her family. Didn't know the deceased very well, but attended the wake and funeral for my dear SIL's sake.
I did go to the Day of Sharing and it was a good day! Lots of fellow BC sisters, inspiring stories, plus good medical information at the seminars. The fashion show was fun and the food was good. It's the 6th year they have done this, and I look forward to next year's.
Laura- I only learned about those Lotto tickets at the Day of Sharing. One of their minor raffle prizes were $35.00 worth of the BC lotto tickets. Alas, I did not win any of the major prizes, but I did win a blue shawl that is very warm and toasty.
Good luck to everyone having treatment this week. Be sure to get a walk in if you can! One of the things I hated about having chemo during the winter was my Taxol affected feet were too unstable to walk in the snow. I'm just now starting to walk again.0 -
Just thought I would add myself to this thread of IL ladies. I was just diagnosed on 3/8/07 with ILC. I had my mastectomy last Tuesday and am doing well. We meet with the onc next week to discuss treatment. I had a huge lobular tumor (10 cm), but one sentinel node with a trace of disease and the other 11 negative. So far, the surgeon and onc seem very positive that I can beat this!
Connie0 -
Connie -
Glad that you joined us...but Holy Moly...10cm! With one SN positive you will do just fine! Hang in there...us Illinois Girls are tough!0 -
Connie....welcome to the Illinois thread. In what part of the state are you located? I'm glad that you're doing well after your surgery. You will learn alot more when you visit your oncologist and you'll get your treatment plan details. Once you know where you're going in order to attack the "demon," you will feel more in control. We will be here for you as you make this BC journey and you will beat it! We Illinois gals stick together! Come back and post often.
Laura, I LOVE your new picture. How charming!
I actually got that Cub buggy onto the golf course today and played nine holes. In fact, I was pretty pleased with myself for the first time out and the swing didn't bother my incision area at all. If it doesn't rain tomorrow, I'm trying another nine holes.
Good luck tomorrow, Wendy. I will be thinking about you. Let us know how it goes.

Rita: My goodness. Wheaton is just across the street from where I live. So close yet so far away.
A big hello to everyone. Connie welcome! As usual, too much work, means not enough time. So I hope you all have a great day. Gotta take a shower and get ready for work.
Have a great day
Nicki

Good morning everybody. I have already walked my three miles in an attempt to beat the rain and now the sun is trying to peak through. Oh well, the walk is done and out of the way for today.
I love your purple and pink "Good Morning Graphic" Nicki. I spent several weeks in Wheaton right after I sold my business to make the transition. I was in the 300 block of S. Naperville Rd. Unfortunately, we were so busy that I didn't get to explore the area.
Hope you chemo goes good today, Wendy. I am thinking of you.
Ginny, I will see you in the morning. I am looking forward to sitting with you while you have your chemo and getting to know you better.
I hope everybody has a good day. I think my activities are going to revolve around the weather.
Rita0 -
Hi Rita,
I am in the process of getting my treatment. I should be done in about an hour. So far, so good! The nurses here at Carle Hospital are really nice! Thanks for all of your support. Good luck to you on Friday! (I work fulltime and juggle treatments with work but my boss is understanding and that helps alot!)
Ginny, good luck tomorrow!
Wendy0 -
Nicki, thanks for posting such a bright, sunny Good Morning. I needed that kinda pick me up, it's a very gloomy day today where I am
Connie
That make 3 of us ILC ladies on this Illlinois thread.
For Rita, Wendy, Ginny and the others going through chemo....hope you guys are doing okay.
Rita I'm impressed, a 3 mile walk first thing in the morning. I did only 1.6 miles on my elliptical and that was enough for me, I'm still worn out from my 2 hrs spent at Chuck E Cheese yesterday.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am from Aurora, IL. I saw someone mention Wheaton so we are close. My sister is actually from Wheaton - lives near Danada Square.
Not the best circumstances, but looking forward to getting to know all of you!
Connie0 -
I'm just maybe 25 miles north of you. My nephew & his family live in Aurora, my sister and a niece live in Bolingbrook & another niece lives in Naperville.
I use to work in Warrenville and would go to Danada Square on my lunch break along with shopping at the Fox Valley Mall.0 -
Hi everybody.
This dreary weather forced me to clean out another closet today. YUCK! On top of everything else, I am becoming way too domestic!
Wendy, you have me curious. I assume you took your laptop to your treatment today. Do they have a place you can plug into the Internet? How did you get your post off from there? (As you can tell, Nicki, Mary, and Laura are the computer specialists here. I just plod along doing the routine things that I've finally learned!!!)
Anyway, Wendy, I hope you get along O.K. after your treatment. Here's to no side effects for you!!! I applaud you for working and making this journey at the same time. That takes lots of energy!
Mary, you are giving Nicki a run for the graphics. I love them! Keep them coming!
Connie, you are so right. This is certainly not the most opportune way to meet new friends. However, the ladies on this thread and this site have helped me greatly. They always seem to be able to answer questions and offer those words of encouragement when I get down. I'm so glad you found us!
Well ladies, the recliner is beckoning me! Everybody have a good night. Catch you tomorrow.
Rita0 -
Rita,
Good luck to you tomorrow! The whole hospital has wireless access and my laptop has a wireless card built in so I can work from there or just post and surf the internet. I usually do some of both. I applaud you for your energy (I hate cleaning closets - but I do like walking!) and the way you are so positive and supportive of all of us.
Wendy0 -
Wendy, I hope your treatment went well, and that you have no side effects.
Connie I forgot to say welcome. I'm sorry you have to go on this journey, but hopefully your doctors have worked out a treatment plan that gets you back to health.
Rita, you had the sun peeking out? Because, boy it was a dull wet gray day today around here. The only times I could have possibly walked, the rain was coming down in sheets!
My husband wants to take advantage of me being off work and go down to Florida for a week to 10 days. Even though I still very swollen, and not able to help with the driving, I'm thinking that we should go. I need a break from everything here, and we can visit different family members on the way.0 -
Oh I wish I was home!!!! The weather here in NC is soooo hot.
I go tomorrow to the radiation oncologist. I hope I get a clean bill of health.
My dad (who has helped mom take care of me since dx) was just diagnosed with colon cancer last week. I took him to the surgeon today. His surgery is 4-6-07.
Love to you all, Cheryl0 -
As usual - busy, busy, busy. Gotta get ready for work. Wanted to say hello to everyone and hoping you have a great day.
Hugs to all of you going through treatment right now.
Nicki0 -
JanClare,
Everything went well yesterday and am feeling good so far today. I even made it to cycling class this morning!
If I were you, I would love a trip to Florida! Nothing like sunshine and a warm breeze! I hope your swelling goes down soon.
Wendy0 -
I just got done with Chemo#4...My last A/C...wohooo!!!
Rita kept me company today. We chatted the whole time and it was great getting to know her. She such a wonderful woman. We went to lunch at Panera and talked more. So far, I am feeling pretty good. I got stuck 3 different places for my iv. You girls, just remember to drink alot of water before you go. I didn't and that's why I got stuck 3 times. Oh well...I actually didn't get bruised.
I'm off for a rest...
Rita.....Thanks again for the company and the braclet. I truly enjoyed talking with you....
Ginny0 -
Cheryl,
So sorry to hear about your Dad. Hope all goes well with his surgery.
How did your visit with your Radiation Oncologist go today?
Mary0 -
on finishing your last AC.
Glad to hear Rita was able to keep you company today...sure makes the time go by quicker.
Mary0 -
Hi Girls!
CONGRATULATIONS GINNY! You did it!0 -
Hi everyone!
JanClare..........go for the FL trip!!! The getaway is just what the doctor ordered!
Cheryl....I hope you got a clean bill of health today. Please let us know so we have something to celebrate. Also, so sorry to hear about your Dad. Parent problems are definitely not something we need to deal with at this time.
And we are celebrating Ginny's last AC treatment!!!! She did it. Hey, it was alot easier sitting in the side chair than in that recliner! We shared a few hours and I feel as if I have made another good friend so I guess there are positive things that develop from this journey! We even talked about coming up together to the September walk, Laura and thought we may even drive in the night before and find a good motel.
Hi Laura, Nicki, and Mary! You three gals keep us moving forward.
Hope you're still doing well today, too Wendy.
Anybody have big weekend plans??? I don't have anything special planned for this weekend, but am leaving a week from tomorrow for MN to spoil my grandsons for a few days over Easter and I'm really looking forward to it. I hope the Easter baskets fit in the back seat of my convertible!!!! I just kept seeing things that I just had to purchase!!!
Have a good night everybody. After seeing them poke poor Ginny 3 times today, I'm hitting the water starting at 5:00 tomorrow morning!
Rita0 -
Rita...you better drink alot of water.....
Well, I swear every time I turn around another pops up. I am having drainage again from my left breast inscision. It's filled with pus. I called the surgeon and he putting me on another antibotic for it and wants to see me next week. Where the inscision is there is an area that is nickel size in diameter that is thin. The rest is a straight line and healed pretty good. Anyways, I may have to get it cut and resitiched but can't til chemo is over with. So one more thing to deal with. I told the surgeon that if I have any more problems then I want him to cut it off. GEEZZZZ....
Anyways, if it isn't one thing its another...just how its been going for me....
