Oh my gosh, Ginny? How long has it been since this happened last? What did they do for it last time? Did you just notice it after you got back from chemo today? You don't need this right now! Hang in there.

    Rita, Mary et al,

I had long day at onc today. *Almost* there in terms of clean bill of health! :-) There has been some concern about some tests. I got referred to GI onc because I have bad belly pain, vomiting and blood for last 3 months. Bummer. Appt is next week.

I take dad to hospital tomorrow for CT tests. Apparently with colon CA the plan is to stage *before* surgery and check for mets *before* surgery. Hmmm. Different than breast CA. I feel pretty guilty now having come to my childhood hometown and leaning on my family ---- then dad is dx with cancer. I hope the stress of me did not wear him down. Ahhh, guilt. The nemesis of survivors.

Connie -- prayers and hugs to you. I am sending Naperville IL best wishes from my temp tx location in NC.

Wendy - OMG. It is soooo wierd to see "Carle Clinic" on this site. I went to Univ of IL and lived in Savoy and Urbana for many years before moving to Naperville.

I love this thread. It makes me less homesick.

    Love you all, Cheryl

    Ginny -
I hope you can get "closure" on that soon. Sorry you have to deal with it - during chemo!

    rita -
Your trip to MN sounds fun! I hope it's warm enough that you can let the wind blow through your hair - the whole way there. I can only imagine how much you spoil those little ones! LOL How did chemo go today?

    Cheryl -
You've been through alot! I hope your dad will be okay. A dear friend of mine was dx'd with colon cancer on Wednesday. It's so sad. But, another friend's dh was dx'd a year and a half ago and he is NED! Hang in there...I hope your tests go well too...keep us posted. Hope you're able to come "home" soon.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. The weather ISN'T go to be FAB, but my adorable little niece, who is like a ray of sunshine (Shelby Laura) is spending the weekend with us...she keeps us young! And, needless to say, she keeps us real busy too!

    Love to you all neighbors!

Good Evening My Illinois Sisters! Wow, there are so many posts since I was last here.

Ginny: Oh my heart just beamed when I heard about your last A/C. I remember that feeling well. And for me it meant that I was half way done! n Ginny I developed an area of necrosis and infection at my incision site. I was put on an antibiotic. PS cleaned it up and it healed just fine. Good luck with that infection.

Rita: Hmmmm this week-end. Well I have 2 choices. I could have an exciting week-end. Go to the pub where my husband entertains. Lots of drinks, lots of laughs, and oh my lots of people. Or I can stay home, play on the computer, go to bed early and say. Gee! Life IS good.

Mary: Im am so jealous!! I need to, I really neeeed to learn how write my signature. Those pics are great.

Cheryl: No way did you make your dad get sick. And actually what a support you are gonna be for him cause you DO understand. Its weird cause I did get screened for mets before my surgery. All kinds of scans and ultrasounds. Scared the heck outta me.

LauraGTO: Awww the description of your neice was just adorable. Made me smile.

Need to go eat some dinner. I will try to check back later. Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday.

    Nicki,
I found that pen writing my name on the net.
This is the only writing one I could find with your name:

You can right click and save it if you're interested in it.

I think your graphics are fantastic, I've never seen any of them on the net, did you buy them? They're too good to be free like the ones I post.

Good morning to all of you great Illinois ladies.

Well, I had chemo #4 yesterday. I drank so much water before I got there, I was definitely well-hydrated and luckily only had to be stuck once. One of the bowling gals took me and we chatted the three hours away. I felt pretty good when I left there but had some queasiness later that evening despite "downing the compazine." This morning I slept in and feel a little better. Guess I'll just take it a little easy today and pamper myself.

Wendy and Ginny....hope you two are still feeling well after your treatments this past week. Keep thinking positive!

Connie....Hey, it probably won't be too long before you rejoin us in Illinois. In the meantime, come back anytime and join us here.

Laura...how old is this special niece who is your namesake??? That's pretty neat that she shares your name and don't think twice about it....just go ahead and spoil her and enjoy her while she is with you. We all need to be spoiled occassionally.

Nutti Nurse Nicki....love it and love your pics so just keep them coming! I really liked the "laughing cheeks." I think you and I would get along real well together!

Hello to all you other great Illinois gals..........Mary, JanClare, Connie, et. all! I'm off to start my day. Everybody have a good weekend.

Hi All! We are leaving for Florida tomorrow, so I don't have much time. I posted this in the Triple Negative board, but thought the Illinois gals might be interested too! Feel free to spread this to whoever on the boards you think might be interested!

"40% Off" In Pink" BC collection at Coldwater Creek

Actually, the 40% off coupon WLP1225 works for anything at Coldwater Creek through April 8th, but I was happy to see they have a Breast Cancer collection called "In Pink", for which they will donate 10% of the purchase price to Komen Race for the Cure. I especially loved the ribboned zip tee and bought it in both colors. Plus I bought two of the ribboned tees as well. Of course I didn't stop there- after the shopping dust had settled, I ended up saving over 40.00 with the discount coupon!"

Glad you liked the site, it does have some good graphics.

If you want to try adding some words to premade gifs try this site. http://www.gifworks.com/cgi-bin/gifworks.pl?com=transfer_open
It takes awhile to figure out, but it's fun.

I used that site to add Illinois Ladies to the Good Morning graphic I posted. I also used that site to add aka The Picture Monster to the glitter graphic of your name.
If you go to the site it has two methods, I use Method 2 because I have the gifs saved on my computer.

    Have fun.

    Hi everyone!

I made it through #4 but haven't had any energy since Friday. All I want to do is lay around which is not like me at all. Hopefully I will perk up shortly.

Now I have rads........33 of them but they can't give them to me for at least 3 weeks after my fourth chemo treatment so I don't even go to see the rad specialist until the 18th. A reprieve!!! Then after the rads, if I complete the entire chemo regiment, there are two more chemo treatments left.

How is everybody else doing who also had chemo this past week?

Nicki and Mary....your graphics are fantastic. Mary, I think you really have Nicki going now!!!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. It's very windy here today. We had tornado warnings last night but luckily nothing touched down anywhere near us.

Hang in there gals! It's April already!!!

    Rita,
Sorry to hear the fatique hit you this chemo. I can't remember what CMF regimen you're doing.
I had fatique for the last 3 mos of chemo. I did the day1/day8 CMF (with oral Cytoxan) for 3mos/6infusions, then because of liver problems from the Methotrexate I finished up with 3 more mos & 6 more infusions of CF only with an increase in my oral Cytoxan and 5-FU.

Can I ask why they're having you do rads then more chemo?

I can't wait to see the graphics that Nicki is going to post.

    Hi Mary,

I am doing the CMF infusions every 3 weeks for a total of 6 sessions if I finish them all. Although the onc suggested I give it a try, the choice was mine since I could have gone directly to rads because I was in a complete gray zone as to how effective the chemo would really be. We are breaking after #4 for rads since my onc believes in having rads for lumpectomies within a set time limit after the initial surgery. I may not take the last 2 chemos depending upon how I get along with the rads. More decisions.......something I am no longer much good at making!

My weekend was really pretty rotten so I'm hoping I can get up and moving some today. Right now I do feel better and the weather is supposed to be very nice today, which totally motivates me in positive ways!

Good morning to all of you. Enjoy this great day!

    Hey All,
Went to the surgeon today concerning the hole in my breast where the inscision was. Looks like we are just going to let it heal on its own. If it doesn't close on it's own then I would have to have another surgery. So in the mean time it will drain and heal up...hopefully. He said to give it a week or two. Don't want to have another surgery so now it's a waiting game.
Still feeling yucky from my cold and chemo #4. But still making it through work. It's a great day out but not looking forward to the rest of the week...Cold....

Hope all you ladies had/have a great day!!!

Good Evening Everyone: Don't have much time. Lots of early morning meetings really cutting into my computer time. I cant wait to explore the sites Mary gave me.

The hardest chemo for me for some reason was #3 A/C. I actually thought the fatigue was one of the harder side effects.

So Rita! You start rads now?

Ginny: I had a cold all through chemo. Seemed like everytime I started to feel better, it was time for the next chemo. And your working too? Slow down and give yourself a break.

Hope you all have a great evening. Gotta go. Ta Ta

    Hi everyone!

Ginny....it sounds like you are playing the waiting game now, but waiting is much better than more surgery. I'm glad you got in to get it checked out. That should have eased your mind some.

I went out and played 18 holes of golf today. Just couldn't stand to stay inside with this wonderful weather. The golf game was pretty miserable....maybe because I haven't eaten much of anything in 3 days but the spirits sure improved. I did actually come home and fix maid rites and ate almost all of one and an orange sherbet slushie. Tomorrow I'll probably be eating everything in sight.

    Where's L A U R A????? I bet that neice just wore her out! Hurry back, Laura.

Nicki, I can hardly wait to see what you come up with after you visit Mary's site! This should be interesting.

Well, as Ginny says, the temps are supposed to drop. One channel even mentioned snow flurries for Wednesday....can you believe that??? I think it was the Peoria channel. We don't need that!!!

Hope all of you enjoyed today. Hang in there Ginny. The cold will pass and you'll feel lots better.

    I'm here!

    Rita -
Hang in there...this will all be behind you soon. And then we'll all be ready for the walk! I'm glad you went golfing...good therapy for you! I never heard of having rad. in between chemo, but it makes sense to kill off any stray cells with rad. as soon as possible. Hang in there.

    ginny -
Best wishes to you. I am sending healing thoughts your way.

    Girls -
I have 3 nieces, Shelby Laura is 10, Sydney Dena is 15 and Nicole LaRae is 16. They all take turns spending the weekends with us. But sometimes all three spend the weekend here together. Here's me and Shelby:

Oh Laura, that is a beautiful picture. Just sitting here going awwwwww!

Rita: Ive decided Im a whimp. There is no way I would have played 18 holes of golf. But, ahahahaha - I cant golf! Whacking. Im good at whacking!

Got caught in a really bad storm this morning on my way to work. There was hail the size of a pea. Thought for sure it was gonna break my windshield. Finially I pulled into a gas station and waiting. The storm that hit last week-end. That microburst that hit was 1 mile from my home. Glad I was sound asleep. But I saw the after effects the next day. Looked like a tornado hit to me.

Now they are saying snow showers tonight and I have to drive to downtown Chicago tomorrow morning. Whine whine whine.

My husand is a local Northern Illinois favorite entertainer and he is gonna be playing at a restaurant/bar called El Barrio's in Mundelien on Diamond Lake Rd. I know it may be far for some of you, but Im gonna be up there and ready to party on Friday night. And if I have a good time, I'll be back on Saturday. Would love to see some of ya.

That bar is right by my house. Maybe I'll pop in - what time will you be there...keep in mind I am a whimp too! I usually can't stay awake past 10 pm! Micro burst...huh? I didn't hear about it, but there was a clap of thunder here that literally shook our house! It freaked me out! I have never heard or felt anything so powerful!

Laura...your niece even resembles you! She is a cutie.

Nicki...my whole philosophy on life has changed. If I wasn't heading to Minnesota this weekend to get my hands on those grand-kids, I would drive up to listen to your husband and meet you. Keep us informed where he will be playing and when you will be accompanying him. I've made up my mind that life is too short to stay home and feel sorry for oneself! Anymore, I'm up for alot of things that I wouldn't have attempted earlier.

Hope everyone handles tomorrow's rotten weather well! I have a relatively easy day...an appointment in town and lunch out with the gals and a few errands.

Ginny....are you still feeling O.K. after your last AC?

Be careful and safe tomorrow, ladies.

I can't wait til this is over. I so wanna quit. Some days I feel that this is no big deal then after chemo it's like what am I doing...I go see my oncologist on Friday. I sure hope Taxol is alot easier that A/C.
The people I work with have been great. I feel guilty when I have to call in or go home early cuz I don't feel well. I will be buying them Krispy Kreme next week..
Everyone have a great night...Stay Warm

Hang in there Ginny. I am interested in what Migas tells you on Friday. I think you'll find that the Taxol is easier than the AC and YOU CAN DO IT! When you feel that everything is piling up, call me and vent or just post. We all need encouragement and support through this. If you need to get away from everything, just call and we'll go for coffee or a coke. We can help each other get through this!!!!

BURRRRR...........It's cold outside! Where did our spring go????

Catch you all tomorrow. Hope everybody had a good day!

Laura: Im a whimp too. Thats why we are taking 2 cars. I can leave when I want.
