Illinois ladies facing bc

Hi gals,
I just got back from the local breast cancer group that Wendy and I are trying to get started. We had 13 gals there tonight. The restaurant was not the greatest for our needs. We had a divided room but it was so noisy that it was hard to talk from one end of the table to the next so we're going to try a different place next time. The best part about the night was that I got to meet Annette and Tanya. They are both just as nice in person as they are on this thread and I look forward to seeing them again. Annette drove several miles to join us and I am so glad that she made it!! Tanya volunteered her country club for our next meeting and that should work lots better.
Ginny also made it. She had treatment today and was in some pain but she's such a trooper that she came out to join us. I'm so glad she made it!
Oh my gosh, Jackie, it was really hot and humid in southern Illinois. It rained here until about 9:30 and it was a hum-dinger of a storm. Then it misted off and on for a bit before turning warm and stuffy.........but not nearly as hot and steamy as you had it.
Hey Carol, what type of Arimidex stuff do you have going on? Joint pains?
Hang in there Buddy! Better days are ahead!
Hey Laura, we had a good time tonight but nobody whipped off a wig like Kater did at one of our early gatherings and Tanya told Wendy that they needed to go to the bathroom together so she could check out her foob but they never made it. I guess that leaves something for next time! LOL
I hope you northern ladies have a good time tomorrow! Hugs to all of you!

Rita...sounds like you girls had a great time tonight. Meeting new friends...lots of fun and laughter is what the Lunch Bunch is all about. Did you take any pics? We would love to see the newbies. Post them if you can. We will be thinking of all of you tomorrow as we chat about your dinner. lol
Hope the weather does not get to bad for you down south. It is just very hot and humid up north. No rain yet....still waiting for its arrival.
Have a great evening...jammie time...hugs to you

Quick drive by...I got to get to bed. Hope everyone is well.
It was wonderful to meet Annette and Tanya tonight. Plus it is always a pleasure to see Rita and Ginny.
Sorry I have been off radar for a while. Charity work has overtaken my life. As Rita reminds me, I need to practice saying no! Life must be getting back to normal. I am starting to act like a real b**** again. Sorry Rita! Now the real hard work begins...focusing on my flaws.
I'm going to try to catch up on posts over the weekend.
Wendy - still waiting final news on when my herceptin treatments will end. Not sure why they are having a problem figuring it out. I don't think the nurses want to commit to a date and have the doctor change it. I'm pretty sure that I will be done in August and not December!

Morning all...Have a new song...June showers bring July flowers., We leave to see my DAD on Sunday in NY and the storms best be done!!The 80's are here now though!!RITA... ALL the golfing is there for you this week!!!AND NO laundry fairy...lol!!!
WOW...looked up Lorazapam last night and NO wonder I have had problems!!!!I IT does result in insomnia and alertness as Smerf so well worded said!!!! IT is amazing to me, never one to take barely a aspirin,ALL the meds I have been on since Surgery!!!! Susan... yes., I do take Melatonin and am solely on that now and that is end of story!!!
Have a good day.. how is the laundry and ironing goin ladies.. Try to do it all with a smile and stop asking ME for help, ok.. I am only on person. hehehe.
Hugs and Healthy Thoughts,
Donna
Yesterday, i developed a slight rash and looks lIike. i need to stay on the zyrtec a little longer as it helped after I took a benadryl! No more itching and feel better today!
Budders...Love the new avatar.. do you have something painted on your head or am I seeing things?!!!! Sorry about the bleeding.. and GLAD you saw your DR etc!!! How scary!!!!!!! When i get back from visiting DAD, we will have to connect in person. When is your next TX. You sound good overall and it is goin in the right dierection. Are you goin for the second opinion still?
CAROL....yes..SIGNS GALORE prior to surgery or diagnosis that something was awry. Not just the photos but overall not able to work a full day at school without feeling like death!!! Just not able to feel enough vitality and just looking exhausted. I was thinkin, gee being in the 50's is hard and blamed it of course ALL on hormone shifts!!!! AND.. very constipated ALOT last year. It is exactly where mm immune system works from too~~!!Interesting.
WendyDT...GOOD for you in all your charity work. Giving of yourself not only pays off for others, but does alot for you..don;t you think?! GLAD also your treatments may end in August and not Dec!!!!!YEA!!!Good luck to you and Rita for the new meetinng.. give it time and watch it all evolve!!

Blackjack, when are you leaving for our favorite city???? I left lots of good slots out there, just waiting for you! I told Ginny that we'd go for lunch one day this coming week if she felt like it and she said she wanted to go to the boat so of course I'm taking her on Thursday! She thinks like we do!!!! LOL
Annette, I hope you made it home O.K. last night and do hope you join us again. We loved having you. Tanya, you have so much to contribute. You should post more! :-)
Gotta run. We have a rescheduled golf match early this morning. I think I'm going to be glad that we're playing in the morning instead of this afternoon. It's already hot and sticky here....but I'm NOT complaining. I like hot!!!
Catch you later.

Morning Girls.....how did you like the lighting show we had last night. I must say it was lovely as I was up all night. I am having so many of those so called hot flashes....hot flushes or what every you want to call them. Is this really menopause lol. My Ambien is not working any more so I Need to try something else soon or I will be one crabby girl. lol
Rita....I am leaving Sat for my favorite place LV. It will be in the 90's there so I am a happy camper. I am going to put my butt on my beach chair and chill. They do have great looking cabana boys there. lol lol Where are all the good slots...hope they are still winning lol. Do you have any pics from last noc.
Wendyty...charity work can be very rewarding. Glad that you are giving back and returning to that normal feeling. We do like normal.!!
Carol..glad to see that your daughter got good news. Missed seeing you post but glad to see that life is getting normal for you too. Have fun this weekend. Remember to hug the ones you love.
Donna..have fun in New York with dad..Happy Birthday to him.
Buddy...hope you are feeling better. Glad to see that you got some answers to your butt problem lol Glad to hear that it was not serious.
Jackie...hope you are not having bad weather too. We do need sunshine and grilling weather.

It's so nice that you girls got together! I hope all of us can meet someday.
WENDY and DONNA - Paula asked me to thank you for the cards! Thank you so much for taking the time to brighten her day. She had another treatment on Wednesday... so far so good. Her Mum lives about 200 miles from her...but she will spend the weekend with Paula, do lots of cooking and try to fatten her up a bit. She's still too thin. Thanks again!
--------------------------------------
Looking forward to our lunch bunch later this morning... but b/4 I go there I have to go to the Juvenile court house. Two of the games in the children's play area are broken. I ordered replacement parts and will go the courthouse, with screwdriver in hand (no, not the liquid kind) and replace them.
Tomorrow...if it's not raining, dh and I will take a road trip to our friend's cottage near the Dells. It will be a long day - as we're not staying overnight.
THOSE OF YOU WITH BODY ACHES - have you tried Glucosamine Chondroitin? I can't help but wonder if it may do the trick. It's over the counter and now available in a liquid form. Google it if you're interested.
Back to our sugar conversation. I have eliminated white sugar and Stevia from my diet. Replaced it with organic Blue Agave. I used it in my coffee this morning and it tasted just like sugar. I have a 6 oz cup of coffee every morning - but no more than that.
I juiced a whole lemon and two apples... it was good! Lemon is great to boost the ol' immune system...just FYI
And... I have a pocket of fluid slowly building up under my arm - near my Mast and Node Dis sight. I wonder if this is what has caused the occasional severe pain I have been getting. I will see the bs next week. I hope I don't have to go to FRICKIN' physical therapy. DAMN! lol

Good morning, I think. I'm leaving in a few minutes for lunchbunch, but it is poring rain, and my street looks like a river. BJ, I think I need a boat!

Laura... have heard good stuff and reviews on blue agave..thanks for the heads up and reminder!!! MY goal is to do the same on sugar the best i can , in eliminating as i did before cancer for a time. Good info on lemon too as i usually put it my first drink of water, warmed up in the AM.

Where do you buy the blue agave? Is it somewhere in the grocery store or do you have to get it at health food stores?

Evening girls! Wow...what a weather day up here! torrential rains, hail, wind etc etc! Now...it is 87 on my deck and soooo humid! Just looked at the weather channel and in about an hour we are in for even worse weather! Yikes! But looks like the weekend will be nice....
Fun at the Lunch Bunch, as always!
JanClare...has a cast! She chipped a bone in her foot....BUT...her new kitchen is simply gorgeous!
Laura...had on the cutest dress and new sandals! Lots of info on that health expo she went to as well. Safe driving tomorrow, Heidi!
Smerf.....congrats (I think!?!) on DH's retirement decision! I loved that bracelet by the way!
Blackjack...OMG! You wore PINK!!!!!!!!! It's actually a fab color for you! Have a great time in LV - save me a cabana boy!
Irene....I LOVE your hair! It is such a cute style! Girls....you know how you hate those girls whose hair swings and then falls perfectly? That would be Irene!!!! AND...she had the cutest top on! How was the shower? She made what sounded like really cute favors, all blue/chocolate in color...if they didn't melt in her car!!!!!
Rita...so glad that you got to spend time with Annette and Tanya...they sound so nice...and how sweet to be offered a CC for your next dinner!
WendyTY....I am still waiting to hear re: your Herceptin! Hopefully you will be done soonest!
Sitting at the kitchen table, listeing to the weather channel....it's coming!!!!!. Oh good gosh.....WTH??????? Well...at least my AC is working quite well! From the furnace to the AC in 4 days...gotta love the midwest!
Hopefully you all will have a nice, quiet night.......

Lunchbunch was so much fun, as usual, even though I needed oars to get there! So much running water in the roads, and stoplights out all along the way, and torrential rains, but I was determined to get there. Thanks, Bj for all your planning.
Wendy, I followed some sharing instructions for the photo, but my DD may have that blocked. Now, when I just logged on to my Facebook profile, I can see the picture. She stole the original from the house, so now it resides in NY. If I still had it I would post it myself! Grrrrr....kids!
Jan...I hope that cast soon come off! I know from living with DH that people hate them in hot weather. Your kitchen is beautiful, and I can't wait to see it.
Irene, those favors sound perfect!
Laura, you have so many good ideas for that bra! I think Long Grove is a great place to show it off. have a nice day tomorrow, and don't miss the little guy too much. I bet he'll really miss you!
AC working well here too, and luckily the sump pump. My backyard, and road were flooded when I got home, but the water is down now. I think we're going to get hit again soon, because it's getting really dark out there!
Have a nice evening, and stay dry.

It sounds like a lot of ladies got together. The rains were awesome! Today was the American Girl Cafe and to those whe have never been, you will either find it glorious or obscene. With the economy being what it is, I was struggling with it all (ear piercing for dolls, hair styling for dolls and outfits for every occassion. I am grateful, however, that I could take my niece and I am grateful she had a wonderful time. We had a delightful (over the edge) lunch. I do hear that the books are of high quality and the books promote character. I just kept feeling I could feed a family for...... (you know how it goes).
Donna, glad you discovered the meds and the problems. Smerf, thanks for telling me that maybe my hip is do to a compressed nerve. I have to say that it did not hurt once today as I trapsed about the city. I hate to worry. We all do.
Susan

Its 7 p.m. the storm is just starting here. Those of you up North...How bad is it going to be?

Lunch Bunch was FUN as usual! I swear us girls do not shut up for a moment! lol But that's a good thing! I love it! Everyone looks healthy and happy...
Wendy was such a sweetheart... she crocheted the MOST AMAZING baby blanket for my niece. How thoughtful, Wendy... that is just so generous. Sydney will love it. I loved Wendy's shirt...very cute! And thanks Wendy for the compliment.
BJ is leaving in the morn for VEGAS... look out Vegas! lol She will be sittin poolside during the day and seeing Bette Midler at night! You lucky duck! lol Have a safe and happy trip! You look great!
Smerf made it - flood and all! It takes a lot to keep an Illinois girl down! lol Great seeing Smerf in her Polo ensemble and that GREAT bracelet... would love to know the designer's name.
Jan Clare was booting' a walking cast! She was knocked to the ground by a dog she was sitting for. Hang in there Jan... I wore that nasty boot for 9 weeks last year. But... Jan still managed to join us and it was great seeing her and her adorable haircut!
Irene's presence was a welcome surprise... wasn't sure if she was going to be able to join us. So glad she did... she is looking great too!
P.S. I commented on how good all the girls looked today...I know that looking good IS NOT EVERY THING... but it's an indication that we have reached a point in our recovery that we want to look AND feel good. For those of you who are fighting to reach that point... hang in there... you will get there... you're just a few steps behind us and you have a group of awesome girls cheering you on!
------------------------------------------------
It's so uplifting getting together with any of the Illinois Girls. We have so much in common... rain, bc, rain, rain, rain! lol It's a bond that I truly appreciate. And I truly appreciate each and everyone of you in this thread. My hope: A get together that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US can attend. Wouldn't that be great! Woo-Hoo!
------------------------------------------------
kater - where have you been? How's your Mom?
Rita - Our Jewel Food Store now has an organic "isle". I got it there... but you can get it at Trader Joe's or a healthy store.
Donna - If a post in is the wrong order... you were not on the last page of our thread. Just FYI. As for lemon...squeeze as much as you can into whatever you're drinking. My water glass is crammed with squeezed lemon wedges!
Susan - You are such a nice Aunt! Wow... American G Doll place is amazing... can you imagine being a little girl and having something like that!?! Although I agree... I "struggled" with it too... the first time I went there. Enjoy your company.
-----------------------------------------------
The wind has kicked up here... it's storming/thundering/lightening... the trees are swaying... hope it doesn't get worse. I would hate to have a tree fall on our house. Although it's bound to happen sometime. Time to head for a bath, jammies and crochet squares - in bed! I am soooooooooooo tired...btw -
mich101 is doing well! Her twin sons graduated highschool and she is busy with work and college for them. She will check in with us soon... when time permits.

I am going to have to send the search lights out for some of you girls... just want to know that you're okay!

Getting ready for our trip EAST.. glad feeling better each day. Still nap and know when enough is enough. Honoring our bodies is so imperative during and after chemo! My wisdom phrase for the day. Will have my computer in NY so i will be in touch!

What beautiful morning it is. Thank you for sharing the picture of you lovely ladies. It looks like a modeling convention. You are all so beautiful. I am so glad you had fun. I wish more than anything I could have come. Someday...
Donna Remeber the old Dick Van Dyke episode about the walnuts and the eyes in back of his head. I was at the Race for Cure and they had face painting. The kids all loved that they were doing my head. It made them giggle. I had a big pink Bow put on the side, and the eyes in back. My sister wants to bring washable markers to chemo and color it like a beach ball. She gets very bored sitting with me. She is such a good sister I just may let her.
I hope you have a wonderful trip.
Zap you made wonderful memories she will never forget. You cant put a price tag on that.
Black jack My butt is improving. (He had to work today) Just kidding I couldnt resist.
Laura I am going to look into the glucosamine, Thankyou
Good morning Wendy.

Good morning everyone and I'm already wondering what is it going to be today?????heat and rain, rain and rain, heat, humidity and rain....well, a little sun for the moment but who knows.
Yes Buddy....I could never put my finger on it, but I have seen so many pics of the Lunch Bunch and they WERE all looking like models which always went far ( I'm not model material ) in giving me hope and a huge reason to put up with what was happening then. All of you are a true inspiration and you can't be sure who is going on line today or in times past needing that kind of inspiration and assurance that life returns along with hair, a sense of humor and some of the most beautiful friendships ever.
Thinking back to earlier statements of just before cancer diagnosis and seeing pictures of oneself and not looking healthy.....I don't recall any pictures of me but I think I do recall a really vague sense of unease. Now I think.....your body has a way of preparing you for something big coming. Of course, even then I never suspected bc with no family history. Sigh!!!! I do think the mind is so incredible and it sometimes bothers me a bit that I am not more in touch and in tune with mine and envious of those who are so adept at it....and I hope to get better in that dept. because possibilities are limitless ( if that last is a word..) and somewhere in the house siding cleaning and other projects I'll surely find time to work on that.
Bj really does look good in pink.... and Laura--great arms. I gave up sleeveless a long time ago. Very pretty. Wendy.....who would not be thrilled with something you made with your own two hands. I value anything and everything but when you are an all thumbs and elbows person....like me, the things that someone can create with their own two hands are a special joy seen from that angle.
Hope you all have a good day......as dry as possible. Maybe we will get lucky here....wet, and wild here through the night.
Hugs, Jackie

BURDENS
Today I walked the highway
With faltering step and slow;
My load seemed very heavy,
And long the way to go,
A comrade walked beside me,
And as I glanced his way,
I saw that he, too, carried
His burdens through the day.
I smiled and reached to help him,
I lefted half his load;
My own seemed strangely lighter
as we journeyed down the road.unknown

Hey everyone!!!! Just a quick check in. I feel so much better since they put me on some heavy duty pain meds. Actually can sleep through the night. Still laying down during the day and not doing much but at least I feel better.
What a nice and hot day today. At least it isn't humid and raining. Hope it cools down a few degrees but a/c in the house is great.
Have a great weekend...

OMG..what a storm just came through...weatherman definitely wrong....we thought maybe some clouds today but the rain and thunder were last night in the wee hours. I am getting majorly tired of this and finding it so strange for June. Hope the rest of the week-end is good.....for everyone.

Hi girls - I have to go back and read the 4 pages of posts that I missed while I was gone. Geesh - if you don't come here every day you get lost!
Anyway, I had fun in LV. Some meeting time and some fun time. I learned how to play Pai Gao Poker and I loved it. It was so much fun! Didn't win big, but I played for about 3 hours both nights and probably lost $20.
Laura - I also get stabbing pains in my mast side. Just got one on Thursday in LV. Your description of a knife twisting is right on and then it just goes away....
Hope all is well and I'll check back in after I read everything I missed.
