Thank you guys... all the support on this site is overwhelming..... thank you all for voting or considering... we are in 2nd place by about 20 votes... I can't believe it but we have a shot!!! ... my son has been through the ringer with mom's chemo, etc... (as have all of our kids). I just want to surprise him with something good....

And btw... can I vent! Can I get this "off my chest"... lol The Sternum pain is bad again... arghhhh.... I will need to take anti-inflams again - for TEN FRICKIN DAYS! AND - I am convinced I have trunkal lymphedema... I just don't want to deal with this but if I don't it can get really out of control! AND - as I sit here... the sweat is pouring off my forehead and dripping down my back... I am MISERABLE... ALL DAY - EVERY DAY, ALL NIGHT - EVERY NIGHT... I am having hot flashes, head sweats, chills. Honest... my QOL is not good - on a scale of 1 to 10... it's about a 3. I try so hard to be patient and to accept this, but MAN...it's so frustrating. I just got out of a bath and I feel as though I need another one! THIS SUCKS... BIG TIME! And... not to mention that our race car is STILL in the "shop"... that was always a great way for me to escape from all this medical CRAP! And now... I don't even have that! And Paulie had better stop biting my slippers when I sit at the puter... such a pain in the YOU KNOW WHAT! lol DAMN... why is it always "something".
Okay... thanks for letting me vent... it won't solve the problems... but it sure helped! lol

Ginnny glad you are home and "know" what the problem is and the correst handling for it. Big relief and hugs and prays as always.
I'm sure I missed something Laura.....but is this (the anti-inflammatory ) the only thing for this pain. I just keep thinking surely there is some better answer. I sure would like to think every other month your not going to have to have a *bout* with this. I will be praying you get some relief soon.

Laura, is there somebody in your area who specialized in lymphodema? It sounds like your hormonal level is way out of sync and needs to be readjusted. That might be causing the pain, too.....not to mention the hot flashes. I realize that the "after-cancer" meds mess with the estrogen and progesterone in our bodies, but adaptations can be made. If there's anyone who deals with lymphodema around you, why not make an appointment? Withiin a few minutes they can determine if this pain is caused by that and perhaps get you on the right track. Hugs!
Jackie, how hot has it been down your way this week? It's suppose to be in the high 80's or low 90's today here with a slight chance of rain. (imagine that!!!) I love the heat compared to the cold so I'm not complaining. Today I'll be inside most of the day anyway. I'm writing questions, getting clothes ready to go to Lexington for my grandson's baptism this weekend, and running some errands. I suppose I should look for a dress but I'm leaning toward my dressy grey bermuda shorts with my black top and gold strappy sandals. I imagine that won't work but I'm so NOT a dress lady and that dress will just hang in my closet until it's out of date.
Well, I need to get moving. I hope you all have a good Thursday. Buddy, make that phone call and get the ball rolling again. :-)

Morning everyone....yeah Buddy....I do hope you get some sort of answers and can get a BALL rolling. This is all so confused now that I don't see how anyone.....to some degree even your Oncology team, can feel much confidence. I think answers will benefit EVERYONE. I hope you will just keep going till they show up.

Rita....it has been very un-comfortable here with temps close to 100....making heat index over that of course. Ladies....can't sugar-coat it, sweat just pours off me and my hair is even visibly wet. I can't recall a June like this. Sure hope we work out of this soon. I like warm weather...but don't wish to walk around like I am in the middle of a blast furnace.

I'm fairly certain that the Sternum pain and the possible Lymphedema are not connected. Supposedly, the Sternum pain is called: Tietze Syndrome/Costochondritis - but I need to go to my PCP to verify. My Onc ruled out Sternum mets with the chest x-ray and the bone scan. Other than inflams... there really is nothing else that can be done. Although... my friend has this and she went to a chiropractor. He did massage therapy, but I really don't think I could handle the pain from that. It is REALLY tender - to the touch. It is unknown what causes it. I also need to go to the bs to address the possible Lymph. As for the hot flashes... I have to go to a Naturopath. I think that the hot flashes indicate a lack of Estrogen. And since my tumors were Estrogen positive, I can't take anything to increase the Estrogen - (it's like being stuck between a rock and a hard spot). That's 3 frickin Dr's! Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I am so sick of Dr's - oh and then in July I have to have my 6 month Onc appt! I just needed to bit*ch/vent. lol
Hope you all have a nice day... I think it's going to be another hot one. Me and my chase lounge need some Vit D! lol

Laura....I am sooooo sorry about your pain! I have mild chrondritis, nothing like you...from the rads. And you are so right....it is permanent. And nothing to be done about it. I too have some slight swelling in my trunk-area, but it has been there since the first srugery and has never gotten any worse...in fact, not much there to see but I can feel it. I'm glad you are being proactive and are doing something about this NOW. I do massage and wear cami's rather than bras when possible. Let me know what you learn from the PT, OK?
Ginny....whew! Glad that was all it was.....and no more BP meds! Well...that is good anyway! Rest up....and come back often and let us know how you are doing and what's next for you.

Checking in - I guess it is like an every other week check in. So busy right now. My DD is in camps and t-ball, etc etc. Sounds like everyone is busy too!

Jackie - I hear you on the storms and the oppressive heat! Wow.
Ginny - sounds like you are better. Glad your test came back good.
I had a mother of all headaches Sunday afternoon and ended up in the ER. I was at my in-laws (that might have contributed to it some) and the headache kept getting worse. I took all the pain meds I have taken in the past to take care of it and they didn't work and the headache kept building and building. I finally had enough and asked to go to the ER which I NEVER do unless it is last resort. They gave me a couple shots and some pills and within a hour I was doing much better. Not sure what caused it but with a BC history it always makes you paranoid. They did a CT scan on my head and they said there wasn't anything out of the ordinary. I was relieved. When you are in that bad of pain you can't help from thinking aneurysm or tumor or who knows what.
I am also not sure about my job - my work is in social services and no job in that area looks good in Illinois right now. The really bad thing is that no ones wins if they cut social services - the trickle down affect will be enormous. The families that use our services are the ones in society that are really struggling and the cuts will only compound the problems. Plus, more people will become unemployed and the economy will suffer more. It is a snowball effect. I can give examples but it will be pages. The families that use our services are working families - our database proves it. Approximately 90% of the families are employed - still they are barely making it. I believe there are other things in the budget that could be trimmed back way before social services. Just my 2 cents!

hope4Cure: I hear you! My dd is working for Rush in Chicago and is getting her Masters so she can do private work with hiigh risk kids. Not only may she lose her job that makes little; her baby clients will lose many services that could bridge the equity issue that we all know is realk. I am so worried about our society if these services are cut. We all need to live together and get along and we must provide for our children.
I am in Rockford and I love it. My Dh was in conferences all day and I spent my day walking along the Rock River and the Natural History Museum. They have a dinosaur there that is MILLIONS of years old and paleontologist from Rockford uncovered her in Montana! She is millions of years old! Jackie will understand how seeing this dinosaur (Jane) comforts me. I am so little in the whole scheme of things. There just must be a plan!

Hi Girls...Just a quick check in. LV was sooo much fun and soooooo hot!!!. I left hot weather, beach chair and cabana boys to come home to more hot weather here. So off to the boat tomorrow. I hope the lake water is cold. lol Looks like you all have been very chatty. I need to read more tomorrow. Rita....yes the slots were good to me!! The Encore was totally awesome. The pool not so much...they lacked umbrellas or should I say only a few were available. The spa was total pampering. So quite and relaxing. I even fell asleep during my massage. lol
Laura...sorry honey to hear about your pain again. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Holtbolt....I voted this am. Have everything crossed and I will do so again tomorrow. The heat here is still not good.....well, actually the heat is not the problem....it's the humidity that tags along. I had trouble before chemo...almost never would sweat....not it just pours....sigh!!!

I wish you well Buddy. Just very honestly, it is such a shame that with all the worries you face, you are facing these roadblocks. Wendy is our "realistic" cheerleader here as she gets that it must come from you and thatbyou have it within yourself to face this. I wish there was something more concrete we could do.
I am ready to leave Rockford. There are so many churches and eating establishments here. I even found a building with a sign "A Different Way to Do Church" Church. Our next excursion is to the wine country in very, very southern Illinois. I have no idea what stage the "crops" are and this may be the totally wrong time to tour wineries, but so what. My dh is not a gambler (he is still a nice guy) so LV is not an option. He is of Polish ancestry , however, so Poland is an option in the Fall. He is also a WWII buff, so we are checking out Normandy, France. I would love both places. Have a great weekend!

Susan, when you do your winery trip, if you get to Shawnee Winery in Vienna, taste the wine called Tiffany's Gold. We LOVE it!!!
Well, I just got back from the radiation oncologist who released me. I don't have to come back to him. He didn't feel anything abnormal and said that most aggressive breast cancers returned to the breast within two years. I think he gave my surgeon a compliment. First he said that because of statistics, he really didn't think that 6 mammos were necessary on a radiated breast after a lumpectomy but my surgeon happens to think differently. Then he said, although she and I have some differing opinions, you can't tell you've had surgery except for the small cavity where the tumor was located and there's no skin damage of any kind from the radiation. This visit relieves my anxiety a bit about my mammo and visit to see this surgeon in Peoria on Tuesday. Let's hope he knows what he's talking about. LOL
I have things ready to go so we can get out early tomorrow morning so I'm heading to the golf course in about an hour to play a round of golf. I hope all of you have a great weekend.

The Sternum pain is a little better. I started taking anti-inflams earlier this week, so I think it's kicking in. I have a Dr appt on Monday. The Lymph pouch hasn't gotten larger, so I'm happy about that. I still need to make the appt with my bs for him to take a look at it. If I need PT... JanC has one by us... so I would probably go to her. I can handle the pain... I just hate all the Dr appts. I hate sitting in there waiting rooms, I hate exposing myself! It's so humiliating. I love going to the foot doctor... I don't have to get undressed! lol lol lol I'll be okay... just gotta vent sometimes. lol

Very unusual... about an hour ago, I saw a mama raccoon with 5 little babies walking through my backyard. It was soooooooooooooo cute, but aren't they supposed to sleep all day?
