YEA Susan! I'm so glad that you're doing the walk and Dave and I would love to come back to your house for a bit before we leave the area! How nice of you to offer the brunch! I can hardly wait to see all you gals again and meet those that I haven't met.
Great news Buddy! We'll hope for a clear PET scan so you can relieve this stress. It's also great that you're getting a visit from your family. That always helps the spirit!
Well, I'm relaxed from yoga so I'm going to find a good book and read for awhile. Hugs to all of you!

Popping in to say a late hi to all. Buddy....fantastic --- finally some good news for you. Bout' time too. Susan....good that you get to do the walk and how special to do an after walk brunch. I think I spoke one note about about all of you "fantastic ladies" who are full of just plain ole' goodness. To me....it shows such caring about everyone. I'm sure cancer didn't make you that way and it's just you....but I know every one here appreciates such special friendship tokens.
Tomorrow I will be picking out my chocolate....as it turns out ( I thought there was just one kind for weight ) that any of it will if used before each meal curb the appetite and help you feel full....so I will pick it out tonight and place the order tomorrow. Super....I wish now I would have done this several months ago instead of waiting on Dennis at work to share his "results". I could have been much farther along.
Hope you all had a great day...I hope too that tomorrow is great for everyone too. I'll be talking to you again tomorrow.
Hugs,
Jackie

Rita, one day take some time and really wonder what you expected when you first posted here! You could have never realized where this would go. This is somehing you should be so proud of....a real life l accomplishment!
Wendy, I think I can walk. I am actually walking everyday, not three milles and definitely not power walking. It is good you brought it up and I will ask the pt. I see her today. Now that I have screwed up so many dates with the theater, hotel, the walk for awhile, I will go to the race even if my hip is hurting and will find something useful to do.
Blackjack, speaking of walking. We had dinner with a couple on Labor Day and the woman's goal is to walk around Lake Geneva. I think she said it is 22 miles. Have you ever done that?
Have fun tonight. I have been running around so much that I am staying home tonight.

A QUOTE in honor of Rita who started this life enriching thread:
"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we
have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance,
chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into
a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today,
and creates a vision for tomorrow."
-- Melody Beattie0 -
I'm sure every last one of us feels deep gratitude to Rita who has made friends of all here and helped us to make friends of each other at one of the rockiest, scariest, most dreadful times in all of our lives. She gave we Illinois girls a place to call home and find hope and care and tenderness and a totally safe haven....a place of comfort where we can laugh, cry, misbehave and share things we may not be able to say to another soul. When I think of this thread....I think of all the soothing things that have been a part of my life......and each and every one has taken a cherished spot here and when the need arises all I have to do is turn on this machine.
A magnificent and rousing thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Hugs, Jackie

Dearest Rita....without this forum, my life the past almost three years would have been much different, much lonelier, much more frightening. This forum has made a huge difference in my life, with my cancer and life in general. You made Cancer World a much easier place within which to dwell.
So....thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

When I was dx with bc last year, I didn't know what to do and I didn't want to talk to anyone neither.. I just wanted to have some space and figure it out what's going on and what to expect.. Then one day, I found this group and read few posts and realized that I got tears... Because of the way you ladies care for each others and support from the heart.. That's how I joined... Since then, my life got much easier and Thanks to Rita, without her we won't be here...
So, here is to you Rita~~
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, YOU ROCK~!

Had my ultrasound of thyroid today and blood test for thyroid. They told me results would be to pcp by Monday. Monday is also day bronchoscopy will be done. Getting closer to answers. 5 more rads to go . Underarm burns are healing well, but the boosts are starting to burn and blister. Only one more this week and then I get a 4 day break before last 4. If none of these other tests were looming I would be looking forward to end of rads. Have to have echocardiogram on Friday for check for herceptin. Best wishes to all of you still going thru treatment. Annette

Oh Annette, you have so much on your plate right now, My heart goes out to you. At least you have the ultrasound and thyroid blood test done and you'll be getting answers on Monday. Just take this next week one day at a time. There were so many times when I had to keep telling myself that.........one day at a time. It seems that we can handle anything for one day but that same thing might seem insurmountable if we thought we had to do it for a week, a month, or longer. I'm glad the underarm burns are healing well. Only 5 more to go! Then you're a rad grad and you'll have one more thing behind you. You can do this. You are on the downhill slide now, gal! HUGS!

I had to stop in, after post 10,000, and say thank you to Rita, and all of you ladies for being here. (Well you know what I mean, I'm not glad that you are here, but I'm glad that you are here!)
I know I don't get on the thread much these days, but it is so comforting to know that you are always here. Thank you and hugs to each of you.

Annette...hope you are getting tips from your rads team for taking care of your skin at this time. I never burned to the point of blisters.....only got red and hot and Rita and Karin sent me some of their left over creams that were better than the Aloe Vera lotion I had. I put extra on and couple times washed gently with cool cloth and another good "dose/dollop of cream went on. Whatever it takes. Great too that you have some of your tests behind you....and here's hoping that all is well and B-9 for you.. You have come a long way and the finish line is well in sight.
Healing hugs, Jackie

Morning - sounds like you girls had a good time last night. Sorry I missed it!
Another thank you to Rita for starting this post. This whole board was a wonderful help during my dx and tx - all the ladies here are so helpful and kind. But, now that I am 2.5 years beyond dx, I still come back to this thread. We all created a wonderful community here!
Running on empty today as I was out too late and had too many drinks with my co-workers last night. I think I will close my office door at lunch time and take a nap!
Take care!

Hi Girls!
Well as usual...last night was so nice! It was great seeing everyone.
Just a few days ago, I posted that Sharon hadn't posted in a while. I was hoping she was doing okay. She surprised all of us by showing up last night! It was great to know that she's doing well. It was great to see her!
THANKS SHARON!
As usual, we didn't shut up for a moment! lol
Hope you're all having a great day.

Hi everyone...may I be nearly the first to say you all look so gorgeous. Sharon, how truly wonderful that you are in the States and could put in an appearance. It is always great to see the smiling faces of friends...a restorative.
Hope you all have a great day today, and that you Connie can sneak in 40 winks somewhere.
Hugs, Jackie

Hi Ladies. i hope you are all well.
Nana i am also in radiation. My skin is very red and hot. I did not get the perscription for the cream either. It is too expensive. I have been using aloe gel. I hope I can make it through to the end with it. I was told no deoderant or soap on that side. Only clear water. I was told I can use corn starch under my arm after I have had that days treatment. It dosent take the place of deoderant, but at least its somthing.

Buddy, how about trying an ice pack in a pillow case? Ask the technicians first. To be honest, I popped for the cream when my insurance turned it down, and it was not only expensive, it just was not that much relief. Radiation was far worse for me than chemo. Almost three years later, I do not have to shave or wear deodorant as my underarm had second degree burns and so that layer was just burned away. I was told I was in the "extreme" group. That won't happen to you as I think that they said only1% get that bad. The only really bad thing is that I forget to shave and put deodorant on the non radiated underarm! Even today I went for tea with a friend and realized i forgot the deodorant and went to the bathroom to wash the "good" underarm off. If it gets terrible, ask the doctor for these gel sheets that got me through the last three days. Doctors hold out (and you cannot get them as a prescription) as they are expensive and are used on burn patients. I was pretty desperate and the doctor suggested them to me. She showed me how to cut them to size and tape them to my body. OMG, they spelled relief! Good luck.

Morning All!!! This will just be a quickie as I am almost out the door...BUT...
Budders.....during radiation I had a pretty easy time. But by the time it got to the boosts, my pit was all red and peel-y. I was told to get (and I( had to stop at Walgreens to check as my poor chemobrain could not remember the name) an OTC powder called "Domeboro"...it comes in little packets which you dissolve in some water and then soak cloths in this and lay it on the affected area for a period of time (nope, forgot that too), 3 x day (I think it was 3x a day, but of course, can't remember that either). Of course the instructions are on the box. Walgreens wants $14.99 for 12 packets of this stuff, no RX needed. It is in the aisle with the pain creams (like Bengay).
NOW...THAT BEING SAID.....I don't have a medical degree and I don't know th extent of your problem so....just saying that's the adivce I was given by the Rad RN. I got to use Biafine tho...and my skin did extremely well.
SO.....maybe you could ask if this could be OK for you to use?????
Gotta scoot...and yes, we did look good Wed. night! Hey JanClare....you gotta tell that story about the kitchen table drawer when you were little! Hysterical!!!!

I got some good news today. The ultrasound of my thyroid came back as most nodules being a goiter. Which is no problem. Only one nodule was questionable and the radiologist said if it was cancerous it would be benign. He recommended just watching for a year and then doing another ultrasound. My PCP was not sure about the 1 year wait and wants the surgeon who does all the thyroid work for the clinic to see me and my ultrasound and see if he agrees with radiologist. If he does then she is OK with it. With that coming back as not a met of the BC then the nodules on the lung are now looking as much more likely to be something else. Monday is bronchoscopy and I see him On Tuesday the 22nd to get results. I will have seen the surgeon by then and know his recommendation by then and rads will be done next Friday. I see ortho about my knee next week. They are probably going to give me a cordisone shot into knee to see if I get any pain relief from it. Hopefully when I get these lung results back everything else will be resolved and the only visits to the clinic will be every 3 weeks for herceptin, and the onc probably every other herceptin treatment. Keep praying for good results on the lung nodules. Annette

Annette, Great news on the thyroid. Checking with the surgeon is probably ok as well although a nodule can't I think, be benign and cancerous at the same time. Guess he/she may have meant it looked like it could have been but is benign now and would need checking in a year. It is just good to have that out of the way. I too, think this test makes it more sensible that the lungs are fine too. Now just the pesky painful knee. I will keep prayers going for all good news for you....this is a long difficult road and it is a great time for it to ease up for you......
Hope everyone is looking for a great Saturday. Not sure what I'll do with mine but there are always projects that need to be moved forward and I have a car that sadly needs a good bath too.
Hope you all have a fantastic week-end.
Hugs, Jackie
