Buddy,
I know how you are feeling...talk about a new lease. What is also so good is that in the beginning you were so unsure which way to go and how aggressive you had to be. Now you are demanding scans and getting them. The cancer journey is not fun, but you are really getting so strong in so many ways. Just hug the family, take in the fall colors and be grateful for life! I am savoring it with you this morning.
My pt says my leg/hip is getting stronger and that I am doing more with less pain. What with Buddy's news, I do not want to complain but I have to do so many exercises and I have to ice after each. Very time-consuming....BUT I DON"T WANT TO COMPLAIN. She did add on four more sessions as it has been slow going and approved my Livestrong Exercise program on Thursdays. Rita, how are you doing? I am totally off alleve and so I guess that shows progress.
I am becoming a night owl now that I am retired and I think I should try to change my schedule. I am up very late watching old movies! Wendy, I know you like old films. Well, I am into Stanley Kramer films ("The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" and "Guess Who is Coming to Dinner") They were so great! Katherine Hepburn was like magnificent-looking! If I ever saw these films when I was super young, I do not remember them. High drama!
Have a good day.
Susan

Morning all! Well...per doc, or at least his nurse, I am simply (SIMPLY???) beset with the same horrible allergies everyone else is out here...and since the decong. and benadryl do make a difference. I stopped taking the decon tho I was so wired I couldn't sleep. So I am doing the benadryl when I go to bed and nasalcrom during the day, which is working so far today except I am getting some headaches with it...but it's "doable".. Hate that word!
Budders.....I am soooo happy for you! And you said it all....peace of mind is priceless, something we all took for granted before our dx. You enjoy today....breathe deeply, smile hugely, love greatly...and laugh until your side hurts! Life is grand....
Susan....glad that your hip is improving. And you are a perfect example as that with joint/muscle problems such as yours...we really need to address the problem after the 2-week rule....I am sure your therapy would have been much simpler had you not waited. And I am sure I would not have spent last summer in PT and getting pain inj's had I not poo-pooed PT after my back surgery. I thought I knew it all....and I did not! You will need to keep up with the exercises too....I keep slacking off and then....wham...back pain!!! I never saw "heart is a lonely hunter" but of course I did see "Guess who's coming...."...many times! I loved Kate! I loved her best in "The Philadelphia Story" and "Baby"...but then "On Golden Pond" too! Oh ... don't get me started! And "It Happened One Night" is on in a few minutes with Claudette Colbert....another oldie but goodie!
Jackie...sounds like your BD was pretty OK! I've never been gambling, anywhere...and I live less than 10 min., from the Elgin boat. Maybe that's a good thing.....I might like it!
Hope everyone else is doing well and that you are all enjoying this weather....Rita and Blackjack ...I saw something on QVC (yes, I occasionally click that on....) called "Backjoy"...it's this little orthotic that you sit on and puts your lower spine is alignment....I will check that and email the info to you.
Have a great Wednesday everyone.....Hugs!

Oh Elfsong..........what a neat picture and what an attractive family you have!
I got my shirts for the Walk also but Dave hasn't received anything yet. I hope I got him signed up correctly. I got the same pink shirt in Peoria but the white one is different. I really like the purple in this one. Can't wait to see all you gals!
Today was a beautiful day! I golfed this morning and worked around the yard some this afternoon. Just when I thought I'd sit at the computer and try to work for a bit our power went out so I didn't get much of that accomplished.
Thinking of you Annette..........
Hugs to all of you.

Morning!
Elf - GREAT picture. What an adorable family - your kids look so happy!
Kelly and I received our shirts as well. The kids shirts this year are the same as the adult white ones. So, she was excited that she was wearing the same shirt as me. I am trying to break it to her that I will wear the pink one. She is my little shadow and wants to do everything the same as me! Should be a fun day!
Another beautiful day on tap!

Hey Ladies,
Well, I got the results from my pet and cat scan. Wasn't good news. I guess it spread even more but the good news is that it isn't in my brain. I will be starting a different chemo on Monday. It is going to be Avistan and Abraxane. Then I get a shot in my butt for the hormone part of it instead of taking a pill like Femara. I also will still get Zometa once a month. I really like this new oncologist. He told me he would have done things alot different. I am so glad we moved down here. I just worry that if I stayed with the same oncologist what would he do since it didn't seem to be very aggressive about the whole thing.
Anyways, everything else is going fine. Been enjoying this nice weather. Still in the upper 80's.

Morning...I have just a minute but wanted to say....Ginny, I am glad you moved too. Your new oncologist sounds like he really FIGHTS for you. I would not want a passive oncologist like you had either.
Hope all have a fantastic day and Elf...you and your family are very attractive....always a treat to see love pouring out of peoples eyes.
Hugs, Jackie

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Ginny...so glad to hear from you and so sorry that the cancer has spread. I'm glad you like your new onc and hope this new chemo does well for you. I have thought of you often and could kick myself for not sitting down and sending you a card or giving you a call. I'm also glad that you like your new location. Please keep in touch as we are always here for you.
Hugs,
Rita

Evening all....
Ginny...so sorry about the news but sounds like your new onc is GREAT!!! BTW, do you have a fav color?????
Elfsong...what a beautiful family you have! All "3" of your "boys" are gorgeous, as are you!
Jackie...loved your quote for today...we really do need to do for today, as no one had promised us a tomorrow. So...instead of having left-overs tonight, we went out to Chili's and had the BEST long talk in a long time! So...thanks. Your quote made a difference in a life today.
Need to hand over the laptop...have a wonderful night! Sleep well....

Hi Ginny! Thank you so much for staying touch. I am sorry the cancer has spread. Stay in touch. We all care deeply about you. How are you feeling? I suppose you are discouraged, and yet you are always so positive with your appreciation for your new doctor you trust. I am just hoping and praying he comes up with plan to halt this thing.
ElfSong. The family is so beautiful! I am going away on the day I said I would come and visit with you. Your appointment was up in the air. Are you okay with me delaying my visit? Iwas hoping that you and the family could stop by for brunch after the race/walk but I KNOW that you live so far away from Northbrook, and so I do not expect that visit. I would sure love it though. I love how much you guys love trains! My DH has his boyhood Lionel trains set and he is dying to set it up. Maybe we could do that for your little guys one day if they too love trains. Does your DH have train models?
Have a happy tonight and tomorrow!

Good Saturday morning to everyone. Had to remove the first quote as I got all the dreaded marks and didn't want to make anyone deal with that as I don't like too.
We may have a little rain squall today, but seems much more definite to have it overnight and tomorrow. Today officially finishes summer. It seems to have been such a short one, but with so much work left to do it is hard to be too upset. I still think of my poor SIL ( sister-in-law ) who has spent the spring and summer either in the hospital or nursing home -- she is in the nursing home right now again and no real estimate of when she will get to go home. The pin (screws failed ) in her broken hip did not work as the bones were too soft to hold the screws. That will need to be fixed as well as the arm by-passes still needed along with the stents around the kidney that has not functioned for some time due to the arterial plaque. Still no word on whether she will lose any of her toes to the gangrene but the leg by-passes seem to be working well. So, all in all I try to see that a quick summer....at least I had it and was not in a bed somewhere recuperating from something or anticipating having to have something done.
Nana....a good feeling to be done huh !!!!!!! It's a long road at times trying to "tolerate" all the txs necessary, but really satisfying when you can finally give up that daily grind of rads. Now just check-ups....I'm assuming you are going to have one of the five yr. pills. Here's hoping your appt. Tues. goes well.
Mich, you are too funny. I'm in good company I feel as I am always so late.....thank you for thinking of me anyway.
Well, onward for the day....although I have no idea what I will tackle for sure. We are trying to "map out" a new dog pen. What we have is old and needs lots of repair ( old chain link ) so we are going to re-do and enlarge the pen I guess. Will take some thought and lots of measuring.
Hope you all have a great week-end. I'll be checking back later.
Hi and hugs to all,
Jackie

Jackie - I have the prescription for Femara, but did not want to start taking it until tests were over and also Thurs appt with ortho about knee. All I needed was some new SE messing things up. I will start taking tomorrow night so If I have any problems I can call first thing on Monday.
Hugs to all Annette

Good morning everyone. It has not yet started to rain but will I'm sure. Dh is off today so he can help me inside the house ( sure that will happen ) with a few things. Actually, I think I have some more things to add to the things going into storage at the auction house so he can assist on that.
I think it will be a good day anyhow....no matter what. Was going to wash my car windows ( only ) as I let Dh take my car thru the car wash as I just couldn't find the time. It actually looks pretty good......but I know some tree sap gets on the windows this time of year....I may have to wait till after....it's a lazy morning here so far and the rain may beat me.
Hope you all have a grand day whatever you do.
Hugs, Jackie

Morning girls, I am so glad that the weekend is here. I had soo much drama this week at school. We were on lock down Friday because of the convict who escaped and was luking around the Northwest burbs. We was spotted and caught. hey. The poor kids were scared as they had to stay in there classrooms all day. Bad for the teachers. lol For me I had to run to them. Not good when you are wearing a pencil skirt and heels to school. lol
What a lovely day yesterday was. On the lake for a final boat ride. Pulling the boat out is sooo sad . Summer is over....fall is here...winter and snow around the corner. We need the summer fairy again.
Jackie.. I hope you had a wonderful birthday. You are so special so hope your day was too.
Rita...how is your back feeling. I hope you are feeling better. I have been doing more walking than running lately... so my hip is better. May be going for a bone scan to ck things out.
Laura... have fun on your walk next week. you go girl!!!
Wendy...how our your sinuses doing. Was dh on lock down too.
Zap...I have done the Lake Geneva walk around the lake and it is soo awesome. Tiring but a great walk. Weather up here this weekend is warm. No rain in sight yet.
To the girls in tx hope you all are doing well. Hugs to you all.
Well off to the boat as we need to clean it up for storage. I hope you all have a great Sunday.
Go Bears today. I hope they do better than last week. ugh.
Remember to be healthy...be happy.
