Donna, Good luck tomorrow. I am excited for you. I subbed at my school last Friday and had a ball! It was great seeing teachers and kids and get paid to do it! I am glad that I only do this on a very limited basis as I am sure the enchantment would wear off soon. You may sleep restlessly tongiht as you are excited, so be patient with yourself. MY CELL LADIES FOR SATURDAY is 224-456-3923. That is brand new so not on the Addy. I am excited to meet/see you all.
Blackjack, that walk around the lake sounds wonderful.
DH is screaming like crazy as the Bears won against the Stealers. He did not think they had a chance. So I am happy for him.

Hi Girls, I want you all to know that I just met Donna and yes she is as beautiful and as friendly as her pictures looks. It was so great. Thank you so much for coming out Donna. Its too bad it had to start raining. I am so excited about us south town girls hooking up. Are there any more of you out there that live closer to us. Hugs and kisses to you all. I wish my sons team had a little of the Bears luck. We got creamed. But its all about the fun..right??????? Ha Ha

Hi Friends,
I am headed off this morning to get my new foobies. And am I excited to have these TE's O-U-T so I hopefully can sleep all night again. My PS tells me I shouldn't have any issues and I plan to be home by noon.
Thanks so much for being here. I mostly lurk about reading what's happening in everyone else's world but I am here if anyone ever needs me.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

Tanya...thinking of you today as you do your exchange! I hope it all goes well and that you're pleased with the results! Can't wait to talk to you and see how it goes.
Donna, I hope I get to meet you, too at the race (walk) on Saturday.I'm really looking forward to coming up that way and seeing everyone again.
How many gals from the thread are joining us, Laura? Will Sharon still be around or has she gone back yet?
Susan, I'm glad you enjoyed the subbing! I never got into that because I had my business to run when I first quit. Now I'm actually thinking about trying to get a few kids to tutor. I really don't think I want to do the full day subbing but since I quit teaching the Wednesday night youth group at church this year, I do miss being around kids.
Blackjack.....glad your back and hip are better. How CAN you work in high heels all day? That would just kill me. You have grit, gal! LOL I hope you're getting into the routine now and the full time doesn't seem so bad to you.
Wendy, how is YOUR back doing? I got the back2life machine on Saturday and have used it four times. I think it's too early to tell if it's doing any good or not but I should have an idea by the end of this week. The walking has definitely helped my back, too. It's not gone but so much better. I worry about the ride up north this weekend but it might be that I'll just have to get out every so often and stretch and walk.
Buddy and Donna.....I'm so glad you got to meet in person! How far are you gals from the Joliet area?
Well, I have a mile long list of errands to run so I'd better get moving. I'll stop in later this afternoon.
Rita

Good morning Gals.
Tanyar I am so excited for you. Please tell us how it goes. Iwant to know what to expect. I didnt realize it would be done so fast. It will be a while for me. I still have to have a TE replaced, ten go on for the exchange. Have you decided on te nipple reconstruction? or te aerola tatooing?
Rita I sure hope you dont have any discomfort on your long ride.
Have a great day. Love Buddy

Tanyar... I'll be sending you warm wishes today. I'm so jealous, I can;t wait for my TE's to be out. They are starting to effect my sleep too. Let me know how it goes, I want to be prepared.
Thanks.

Thought for the Day
Live your life like a fried egg -- with your sunny side up.0 -
Good morning from southern Illinois. I think more rain today. I am not minding too much as I guess I have so much that needs doing inside and I won't have to resent not being out of doors.
Good for you Tanya. It definitely puts a bit of a damper on life and positive attitudes when you can't get your proper rest. I overslept this a.m. just a bit so feel well rested. Hope you will be back in no time saying the same thing.
I'm thrilled that Buddy and Donna were able to meet up finally. For any of the newer ladies....they really held each other up during their tx times. Both had difficulties, but the concern they each felt for the other was so evident in their postings. I know it had to have been wonderful and I am so happy for you both.
Hope no one minds the thought for the day.....I just noticed it and thought it was neat.
I'll be checking back on all of you later.
Hugs, Jackie

Today is Monday so I play with my grandchild for a few hours. I bought her those bells that all have a different sound and you can make music. They are color-coded.......vintage toys from a garage sale.
Rita...most teachers do the tutoring. The money is better (time ratio-wise) and you can feel and see some progress while there is nor progress in subbing. I am not so great with one-on-one (I get impatient) and I like the whole class scene.
I feel badly that my house is so far north for the south side people. If any one can come up with an alternative plan so we can all get together after the race, I am totally up for it. It doesn't have to be at my house, although I am ready for that. Any ideas? Right now we have Rita, Laura and their guys coming for brunch. I am seriously open to any ideas.
It is wet here and dark....kinda cozy!

Morning All! Cloudy and drizzly, 65 on the ole' deck. We need the rain, tho....
Tanyar......YAY!!!! on your new foobs! You are probably home by now...
Annette....YAY!!!! on being a rad-grad! Hopefully this week you will get another good report!
Rita....I will have to google that back thingy you got. I bought something too last summer...can't remember what it was called....I used it a few times as I kept forgetting I had it. My back does pretty well, unless I am in the car for long periods. Maybe I should buy that ortho cushion and just keep it around for when I drive for longer than 30-40 minutes. Hopefully you will do OK on the ride up here next weekend.
Susan....ya know, I like having you retired...we get to "chat" much more often with you now!
Blackjack...lucky you, boat girl! Why do you take your boat out this soon? We do have such nice weekends thru October! YEP....Dh's school was on "soft" lock down. Turns out that bar where the guy had a drink Thursday afternoon is only about 5-6 blocks from his school! He called me that morning as soon as he heard...I closed and locked all the windows and doors and waited for him to get caught. Spooky stuff! And girlfriend....yes...how do you run around all day long, in a school, with heels?????? Glad your hip is better, but getting it checked out is not a bad idea. Probably just old age (LOL)!
Speaking of getting old....aren't all of you tired of all these appts we have? Had my mamm and US last Thursday (I was fine), saw the onc this am (I was fine), DEXA scan on Friday, then surgeon on the 6th and then a blood draw for my thyroid the following week. Jeepers....if I am so fine, why do I keep having to see docs??? Oh well...OH...almost forgot. I have the start of...cataracts. Little baby changes but c'mon...cataracts? Isn't that something OLD PEOPLE get????
Oh....I guess that's me!

Tanya - Hope all went well today! Best wishes to you.
Donna - Hope your first day back at work is going well. Culture shock no doubt!
-------------------------------------------
I'm excited about our walk on Saturday! I can't wait to see you girls, your families and thousands of people who truly understand our cause! It's great knowing that so many people support us.
Busy weekend...hubby and I did a lot of yard work...house stuff...etc.! Very productive weekend.
The summer is gone - SNIFF SNIFF - it went by so quickly! I keep thinking it should still be July! Gawd...life is moving way too fast!
Saw Ari Anna last week. She is so ADORABLE! She'll be at the walk!
Hope all is well with each of you! Have a nice day!

Hi Friends,
Exchange went as expected, lasted 53 minutes and I was home by noon. Very limited discomfort. Had good local that wore off about 4:00 so taking tramadol now. Get to play princess for only 48 hrs. DH made me cchip cookies this after so cookies and ice cream for dinner tonight...that's real treat. Need to limit arm use for rest of the week and no lifting for 3 weeks so will not be nannying but will put the big girl on the bus.
Hope all have a great walk Saturday and the weather cooperates. Maybe next year I can join. I feel close to all as I travel this journey.
Have a wonderful week!

ELFSONG - I sent you a PM
Morning Girls! - Hope you all have a nice day!
Those with TE's...ouchy wow-wow...I don't know how you can handle the pain and discomfort! I am such a chicken sh**! lol
Tanya - Rest...don't over do it! Soak up the Queen treatment!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not too late to join our team! If you don't want to actually walk, you wouldn't need to register. You could hang out with Donna in the Survivor Tent during the walk. Just a thought! PM me if you have any questions.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CONNIE! As usual, my birthday wish looks a little lame after the lovely graphics, but it's certainly sincere. Enjoy your day and celebrate!
The walk is getting closer........and I'm getting more and more excited! We are heading up to Joliet on Friday and staying at the Empress so we don't have so far to go in the morning and so it's easier on my back. I'm not worried about walking the distance, only the car ride up there! I've already walked a couple of miles this morning and cut my walk short because it started to mist. It was a good decision since it's raining lightly now.
Tanya, so glad the exchange went well. Enjoy your short recovery time and those cookies!
NavyMom...always good to see a post from you. It sounds like you're hanging in there, gal and doing about as good as possible with this journey. Hugs to you! When you gals talk about a south side gathering, what suburbs are you talking about?
Well, I'm going to lunch with another bc survivor today and I have lots to do before then so I'd better get away from here and moving again.
Stay dry today gals!
Rita

The art of living lies less in eliminating our troubles than in growing with them.

Good morning everyone.....and Happy, Happy Birthday Connie. Mine too lacks any graphical fanfare but very sincere like Rita's - hope it's all you could wish for.
Tanya....glad everything went well yesterday and that you get a little pampering to make what was worthwhile, even better.
You can sure tell it's Fall already here in the woods. A gust of wind just came through and we heard many, many nuts hitting the metal roof......there are some leaves on the ground, sparse right now, but no mistaking the over-all evidence. Also, the sprinkles from Bloomington have now arrived as well.
I'm typing and looking at my Woman Within catalog -- for anyone wondering, it was formerly Lane Bryant. I have lost some wt. recently and could buy clothes anywhere -- but Woman has longer shirts, blouses etc. As I am tall that really works well for me.
Well, need to get started for the day. First load ( at long, long last ) of goods went down to the auction house yesterday. Not sure how many truckloads to go , but I'm far from the echo yet that I intend to have in my house when I am done with that cycle. Also have a pile of donations for the House of Hope ( no-kill animal shelter ) and Goodwill.....so lots more loads no matter where they go.
I'll be checking back later.
Hugs, Jackie

Morning....and a Very Happy Birthday, Connie, and many, many more! Hope you are doing something wonderful today.....
Tanyar....glad it went so well yesterday. And play princess for as long as you can get away with it (I can teach you........)
Rita.....good idea about spending the night resting before the walk....hey, maybe you will win BIG!!!!
Jackie.....well, you finally got some stuff off to the auction! Good for you!!!! And I am sitting here, wondering, how strange and LOUD that must sound...nuts hitting a metal roof! But you are probably used to it....
Navymom....Chemo #3 out of??? I don't remember how many tx's for you...but it is going quickly. Soon it will all be a bad dream (OK...let's just admit it right now...NIGHTMARE). Glad you are doing okay with it.
Was at the onc's so long yesterday with having stuck around and waited in line to make my DEXA appt that there went my usual Monday morning of grocery shopping and house cleaning so I am playing Monday today. Good day for it as well....drippy, drizzly here but warm and humd! Have a wonderful day today and YAY!!!! new NCIS's (yes - 2!) start tonight!!!!
0 -
Wendrew - Is this your first DEXA - or a f/u? Also...what gives with Cataracts? You are too young to be seeing the start of that. What meds, if any, do you take daily?

Hi ladies -
Thanks for the birthday wishes! So far I have just been hanging out at work! We plan to go out to dinner tomorrow night as Kelly has swimming lessons tonight. DH asked me what I wanted and I told him nothing monetary - just want him to finish up my Honey Do list! We will see if he comes through!
Glad your exchange went well Tanya!
Looking forward to the walk!
Gotta go! Thinking of you all!

Happy birthday Connie and Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Jackie!!!!
Rita.. Hope to meet you at the race too!!!! Will be there around 8am and have to figure out where to meet?! I will definitley be in the survivor tent as i am not registered to walk this year!
Elfsong...After Buddy has her last rad treatment, we will look at putting together a time to all meet and see who is South and pick a good spot and area.
Went back to work yesterday and good to see the kids.. so many of them were confused on my hair so short and many simply liked my earrings!!!!Too cute! Hair is getting thicker for sure and it looks ok as the wig part would eventually confuse everyone anyway. Free and proud!
Navy... wishing you all the best for your end of TX's to come.. know how you are feeling!!!Especially when you are just feeling better and then it is there to do again. It is goin on 4 mos post chemo for me so i am still raw in emotions are all that went on and empathize all you are goin thru!!!
Sorry I have not been here much. it is so hard for me to keep up with emotionally and know i will as i can.
Hugs..
Donna

Connie, belated b-day! I am so excited to see you again and to meet your daughter!
ElfSong, I hope your DH will bring you and the boys for breakfast at my house after the walk. I do understand, however, that it is a long day for you and the family. Yes, my DH has his lional train set and treasures it with all his heart. He too will not set it up until his grandkids are seven or so. We will see if he holds out. Trains are wonderful. I used to take my 8th graders on an annual trip from Chicago to Springfield, Illinois. It was a wonderful trip through the backyards of Illinois. Then we started taking coach buses! I have to admit the buses were much more reliable, but the train trip was so cool.
Donna, it sounds like you had a successful first day. Children are so much fun. I bet you are sleeping well tonight!

Celebration is in order. The lung biopsy was clear. No cancer in the biopsy or in the lung washing.
I have to do another CT in 3 months and do a pulmonary function test every 6 weeks until herceptin is done, but I can live with that. Herceptin will be done in March. I can finally see the end and consider myself cancer free. Until now everytime something was done, something new would crop up to worry about. I started the femara this week, so far so good. No SE's yet.
Jackie, I bought the dress I wore to my sons' wedding last Feb. from woman within. I was very happy with it. I saw the exact same dress in Bergners in a different color for $40 more.
I am thanking God for such good results and wishing you all the same . Hugs Annette

Hi all,
I have been busy since my exchange surgery. Feeling too good to be still I suppose. So relieved to have it done and over. Thinking about the other ladies with their exchanges coming up - let me tell you - it is nothing like the MX. It is much, much easier. Think of it as liberation day! These are much more comfortable than TEs.
Tanyar - Glad to know your exchange went well. Thumbs up!
Ginny - Sorry to hear your news. Sounds like you have a better doctor now. Hang in there!
Jackie - Happy Belated Birthday! I hope you had a great one!
Connie - Happy Birthday to you too! September seems like such a nice month for a birthday.
NanaA - Great news on your lung biopsy.
NavyMom - Hang in there!
Elfsong - cute picture! You guys must be train enthusiasts!
Well, September 23rd is the anniversary date of my diagnosis. It has been a LONG year and I feel like I have experienced a long bumpy and often scary ride. It was definitely not the road I thought I would ever have to travel but life sure throws us some curves. Glad I found all of you along the way! I have beat this monster as I know most of you will too!
God Bless you all!
~ Jennifer

It's 1:52 AM - can't sleep...dh told me tonight he is losing his job in the next three weeks. I am devastated...worried...can't sleep.
0 -
Morning....60 on the deck and dark! I think the weather will be good today tho...sunny and 77 I think....
Annette....YAY!!!!!!! I cannot imagine the relief that poured thru your body.....
Jennifer.....I did get a reminder from AmericanGreetings.com about your upcoming 1st anniversary. It has been quite the ride, quite the experience. I'm glad that we helped you a bit and your cheering us on when we have been down sometimes has meant the world to us as well.
Donna.....so, how did you sleep last night?????? Have you had a first haircut by the way?? I held out for months and once I went and had it shaped, I wondered why I hadn't done it weeks before....really made a difference! OH...and if you gel, try Garnier (in the green containers)...their super-sculpt in the tube....your hair will not move all day!
Laura....re: my cataracts...nope, I am NOT too old for the early changes heading down that road as I will be...horror of horrors...57 soon. Doc said these are very early changes and if things progress as he thinks they will, I will probably be looking at cataract surgery in about 15-20 years, which would put me exactly where both of my parents were when they had the surgery. And no, I don't take any meds which would cause this condition but I am guessing that contact use since I was 15 hasn't helped any! But...not giving them up anytime soon! And yes, my first DEXA. I had the heel scans and they have all been OK but after 2 yrs on arimidex, it was time to check.
And Laura again.....I usually don't post this early anymore but honey, I am so sorry about DH. You guys sure don't need this...no one needs this. There's just nothing I can say but that I am here if you need me. There is an old saying and I'm sure Jackie won't mind if I quote...
"When God closes a door, He opens another". Hang in there....rough road ahead for a bit, and I hope it is nothing more than a short and slightly bumpy detour to something bright and new and wonderful, waiting just around the bend!
Connie....OK, did you NOT get the memo about not having to work on your BD....I think it was part of the stimulus package.....
Time to scoot....hugs to you all!
