Hi Ginny.  Glad to hear you are on the way with your new chemo regimen.  Good idea to see if there is any change in two months so there could be adjustments if needed right away.

I will be thinking about all of you on the walk tomorrow too.  I will be going over to Maggie's in the early a.m. and doing some work for her.  Then rush home and clean up and drive way out in the country to pick up some animals for the fashion show at the shopping center.  One of the stores is doing it and donating a lo of the money to the Humane Society.  I will also be helping with the "animals for adoption" during the afternoon and transport them back out in the country afterward.  They don't let the animals go on the viewing/showing day.  Many are not ready with suplies, crates and other needed items and some need a 24 hour period to make sure they truly WANT to love someone for life and provide a safe, happy home.  .

I will be working at Maggie's on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from now on.  Also have the cleaning job every other Tuesday and my days at the office Thursday and Friday.  Glad I only work part time...whew....I'd never made a go of this if it were full time.

Well, I got a couple of other things I have to get too so I'll check in with you all tomorrow some time.

    Hugs, Jackie

I don't live in Ill. but my son lives in Chicago.  I had a double masectomy in Dec. of 2008 and have finished chemo and radiation.  I had a shot of Neulasta after every chemo treatment to boost my white count and never missed one.  I ate high protein and everything went well.  Don't ever give up.  But I sure wouldn't want to do it again either.

Good Morning everyone and happy, happy walking today.  Laura, I have had you on my mind and hoping being on the walk and with many today will be a special comfort to you.

Dng.....good morning to you as well.  Where do you live now ????  Are you close enough to visit??? I think like you, most of us would "do it again if we had too" but sure hope we never do.  Once on this sort of train ride is plenty enough.

I'm onward with my day....heck of a time sleeping last night --- bet I take care of that tonight.  Will be a long day, but I'm sure a **good** one.  Talk to you all later.  I did not post in the wee hours while I was up by the way -- just played my Mahjong "Road Signs" game for awhile.

    Hugs, Jackie

Yes, we do need to find a cure, so thank you to all who are walking for us. I will be with all of you in spirit. Hugs to all the No Surrender Team Girls!!!!!!!

Laura....hugs to you and remember to take one day at a time. I had a change of plans. I will be there for the Lunch Bunch. So we can talk then!

Jackie...no sleeping. what's up. I hope you are doing ok. I am playing Mahjong games too. They are very addicting. lol

    Wendy...where are you ?????

Rita...hope your back is ok for the walk. Did you win at the casino last night? I am itching to go to Vegas soon. lol

Sharon..good luck on your surgery. Hope all goes well for you. Crutches are welcome for lunch. Hope you can come.

Jo...hope to see you at lunch too.

Well off to pull the boat out of the water. Boating season is over stiff, stiff. But I can still walk around the lake as the leaves are starting to change. Oh so beautiful are the tree colors.

Morning all...no rain so I am sure the walkers are out there!  Thanks to all of you for doing this!

Ginny.....well, it sounds like you are on track with the tx.  I am hoping and praying that this does the trick!  Hope you are having a wonderful time at the beach.  Sure wish I was there!

Jo....I am sooo happy you are coming on Friday!  We've never met, correct???  Sorry....duh ...chemobrain...but I am pretty sure I've never met you.   Oh...by the way...the new girl at lunch has to pay.........(LOL)

Laura....hope that the new door is opening somewhere for DH!  Keep your eyes out, you just never know what is wating around the corner!

Jackie....let me see if I have this correct...you are working part-time...Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  So...6 days a week....where do you get the Part-Time stuff??????  Girl.....you need a vacay!  Loved your quote this am...you should send that one to Nicki!

Going to try out this new place we heard about for lunch but nothing else planned...have a few library books and I think today as it is so gloomy, would be a great reading day.  Tomorrow with "abundant sunshine" forcasted and temps in the mid to high 70's...well, that sounds like a convertible day to us!  Have a wonderful Saturday, everyone!

Good Morning to everyone and Good Luck to all of you that are walking this morning.  I am hoping that I can join your group next year.  Also, would like to get to a lunch bunch but it seems for now I need to stay close to home.  My energy levels are unpredictable at times and I think I will hold off until chemo is finished.

Elf  Tried to pm you but my message vanished!  Anyway I see Dr. Ellen Gustafson.  I really like her.  She tells it like it is.  I trust her to pick the right treatment for me.

Laura  So sorry about DH job situation.  Don't know what else to say but know that you have lots of folks on here hoping for the best.

    Wishing everyone a good day.........

    Hello,

I'm a new Illinois resident (we moved to Peoria, IL in Summer 2008) and I was just diagnosed on August 29th.  I had a lumpectomy on Sept. 17th with SNB, and will meet with the radiation and medical oncologists on Monday.  Is there room for a new lady from IL in your group?

    Hi all:

Pictures will show soon.  It was a fabulous walk and I too enjoyed being with all the great women and their men, both the big ones and the small guys.  And yes, the brunch was great.  We sat around the table and  told our stories.  Shelby is such a sweetheart.  I wish I could walk with you everyday as you make the three miles (count them, Donna) seem sweet.

I am tired but a nice kind of tired.

Let's hope Rita and Dave win a fortune at the casino on way to home.

I'm looking just now at a beautiful bunch of women who walked for me and so many, many others today having done so now for several years in a row.  From the bottom of my heart to the bottom of yours and back..............Thank You All So Much.

Hmmm, wow, I guess when you look at it that way Wendy.....I won't be having too much time off.  I am going to make the Saturday, Monday and Wednesday only last a short while each day -- two hours or less.  Then on Tuesday....it will actually be every other Tuesday.  Sunday I have off then, and every other Tuesday.  I just can't work much more though monetarily it would be nice and needed, but I still have so much to do here at home....plus the new dog fence, plus we decided to get rid of the old gutters and lay landscape fabric and put ric-rack rock all along for the water to come down on....then slowly make it's way out into the yard.  And then there's....well, most of you are home owners and you know that the repairs, changes, and seasonal work is always on a list just waiting for it's turn at being at the top.  So, I do need time to keep those things included in my life.  Hmmm, maybe I better keep trying with the lottery tickets...if I win big I could probably take two weeks off at least.

Great day today but not real productive.  Despite having about 8 different sized dogs ( one a beautiful Rodesian Ridgeback ) and 8 kittens....different colors etc. we got little in the way of prospects to adopt.  I am pretty tired ( from the lack of sleep ) but did pretty well though when the guy come up to me to say he wanted one of those dogs we were getting rid of.....I nearly lost it.  You don't say things like that to people ( heavy duty animal lover that I am ) like me.  I said SIR --- we are NOT getting RID of any of these dogs.  We ARE adopting them OUT to SUITABLE homes.  Thank you.  Not a half a minute later he turned to the other lady also holding one of our dogs and said....are you getting RID of that dog............so I said SIR...that is one of our dogs as well and as I said....we are not getting rid of any of them but placing them in suitable homes for them.  Just between you, me and the fence-post, the third time he talked about our getting RID of the dogs he slipped right off the POTENTIALS list....probably forever.  Sounded like he was talking about left-overs from a picnic.

Well, nuff' of my griping about that, but these beautiful animals ( some like the Ridgeback though young, abused badly )  are taken and gotten any needed medical care, spayed or neutered if old enough, caught up on shots, house trained if not already, and taught to walk on leash and socialized to as many people as possible.....all before they go into the ad for adoption.  We take dogs that OTHER people did not want and GOT RID of but we don't consider what we invest in each of these animals equal to something to be GOTTEN rid of ever.

Susan...sounds like you helped make the afternoon ( after walk ) very enjoyable and special for everyone and they all sound very appreciative.  Thats a beautiful thing.

    Talk to you all tomorrow.

    Hugs, Jackie

Morning!  Well I see we are back in London with all this fog...and temp holding at 49!  Sounds like the sun will soon burn thru and temps will rebound well into the 70's and possibly 80's out here...but I also heard WINDY and SEVERE thunderstorms for tonight....and only a high of 60 tomorrow.

First off....HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICH101!!!!!!!   And many, many more!!!!

Celebrate!!!!!!!! (and did your sweet boys bring you laundry for your birthday????)

Susan....sure was sweet of you to provide brunch for some of the girls!

Lisamed....glad you posted some pics...you girls looked so happy and healthy!

Donna...saw your pics on FB!  You Warrior princess, you!!!  And gosh!  What a gorgeous widow's peak you have!  And all that hair!  I didn't have that much 7 months after chemo!

Laura....think about you and DH every day...hope you two are doing well!

Blackjack....I'm still trying to grasp how you walk all the way around Geneva Lake!  Seems much too long a walk and isn't most of the property private???  Interestiing....

Went to Long Grove yesterday afternoon when the sun popped out...what a lovely afternoon!  If any of you girls are looking to do something today, that could be a destination!  Everything is so beautifully decorated for fall/Halloween!  But I advise you that unless you LOVE teeming crowds, don't go next weekend!  Apple Festival.....

I am off to blow my nose....again.  Hay Fever, allergies....yuck!  Have a great Sunday everyone!

    Hi gals!

What a wonderful day we had yesterday for the walk!  What wonderful ladies walked on our team!  What a wonderful brunch we had later at Susan's lovely home!  What a wonderful day to spend with dear sisters and friends!  Life is SO good!  Dave and I enjoyed every minute of the day and it was so wonderful to meet Lisa, EJ, Victoria, and Donna. It's always a treat for me to meet up with the rest of you, too.....Susan, Laura, Connie....and of course Shelby, Nancy, and Kelly as well!  Dave really enjoyed walking and talking with your hubby, Susan!

My back did amazingly well.  We stopped at the casino on the way home (so I could stretch of course!  LOL) and didn't leave with our pockets bulging but had a good time and a great prime rib evening meal before heading on down the road for home.

For those of you who haven't seen Connie lately............you are in for a real treat!  She is so skinny and looks so wonderful!  She's my new inspiration to get off these pounds.  Good job, Connie!  I admire you!

Sido.... welcome to our thread.  We are neighbors as I am in Bloomington.  My breast surgeon is in Peoria and my second surgery was done there at OSF St. Francis.  Please tell us a little more about yourself. I was also Stage 1 Grade 3.  When will you be meeting with your oncologist to set up the rest of your plan?  Hugs to you.

EJ...your family is so neat!  I loved seeing your little guys and your hubby was so nice and supportive.  You are so lucky!  I'm glad you had a chance to see some trains before you went home.

Ginny..it sounds like you are on the chemo trail again.  I'm glad that you're feeling well.  I sent you an email last week.  Did you get it?  Please keep in touch.  You are never far from my thoughts.  Hugs across the miles!

Victoria, I hope you find us and join us.  We enjoyed having your join our team and know you'd make a wonderful addition to this thread.  Like Donna said, "It was just meant to be!"

And Donna.....isn't it amazing how we can just talk for "miles" when we've never met before?  I think all of us on here are friends before we ever meet in person and the contact seems so natural and right!  I'm so glad that Susan talked you into walking!

Laura, thanks again for planning and organizing our team.  You're one in a million!

Susan, thanks for the wonderful brunch......and the good companionship!  Your home is lovely and I love all the special little touches that you''ve added to make it "just you!"

Well I need to unpack the "freebie bags" that we toted home! What a lot of good things we found!

Jackie, I think you better rest up on Sunday.  It sounds like you're going to be really busy during the week!  Smile

    Talk to you all later.

    Happy Birthday, Michele!

Elf, we have so much more in common, or at least I have something in common with your DH.  i lived in Elmhirst for seven very important years.  Both my girls were born in Elmhurst (now they are 30 and 26) and I know that train!  I may even know the pizza place.  What was the name of it?  Did your DH grow up in Elmhurst, go toYork High School?

Yes, Rita, life is SO good.  When we were walking away from Grant Park, Paul (who felt well during the walk and then his cold just put him down) said to me, "You just look so happy."  I was so happy to be with the women Laura collected for this walk.  Now, when I read all the posts of well wishers,  I feel even happier.  We are kind people and we are so lucky to have each other.

Yes, Wendy, my boys brought me laundry for my birthday Laughing

I also would like to say an even bigger thank you to all of the ladies that walked yesterday to find a cure. You are very special, and I thank you.

Hi Michele....I am wishing you a fabulous birthday though I am late and no graphics.  In my mind it's a flashing neon sign.  I hope it is  all you ever hoped for and then some.

    See you all later.
