Suppose you feel you cannot accept some fact about yourself.  Then own your refusal to accept.  Own the block.  Embrace it fully.  And watch it begin to disappear.  The principle is this:  Begin where you are—accept that.  Then change and growth become possible.

Hey girls....just back from a week in Colorado for vacation.  That was a fun trip!  I have been reading and catching up on everyone.  Welcome to all the newbies!   Sorry you are joining us but glad you found us here.  Wishing everyone one still in active treatment minimal side effects and speedy recoveries!

I am planning a west suburb lunch on Friday, July 26th at 11:30am.  Please PM me if you plan to join us.  I have not decided a restaurant yet, but it will be in the St Charles/Geneva area I think.  Hope to see some of you there!  Everyone is welcome..... :)  I will post a location soon!

Also I wanted to post an updated picture of my puppy.....well not so much a puppy anymore!  She is 10 mo's old now!  Here is almost grown up Baci:

I took this picture last week on a hike in Colorado.  She loved all the hiking!

The 26th and 1130  sounds good to me. Will be a busy day though as my son and I will be attending an awards dinner that evening to accept his scholarship he was awarded from my husband's union

cateyz~ That's SUCH great news!!! Congrats to your son!

mdg~ Let me know if you need a dog-sitter.., I'm in love!!!  Smile  Where were you in CO?  I'm heading to the western slope (Grand Junction, Delta, Montrose) on Saturday. Regardless of where you go in CO.., it's beautiful! And ya' can't beat the hiking!

all!  Positive thoughts to those in treatment.  I PROMISE you it WILL get better.  I canNOT believe how different this summer is compared to last.

My new (hardwood) floors will be cpmpleted tomorrow.  What a project it's been!  And I'm so excited to get things (i.e., furniture & kitchen island) back in place so I can truly take in the new aesthetics.  I'd love to share a picture but last time I attempted to post a pic, it was a disaster!  Can anyone help me out with picture posting?  Undecided

Welcome to our Canadian Sisters!  I hope you enjoy your stay in Chicago!  I (we?) look forward to hearing all about what you did while you were here.  Sorry it's so hot and I think you'll enjoy the lake breeze.  If it gets too hot be sure and stop by Millennium Park just to dip your feet and frolic in the Crown Fountain!  Have fun at dinner with lago & doxie and any other Chicago sisters!

Stay cool & stay hydrated IL ladies!  Has anyone heard from Camille???

Hi Illinois neighbors. Chicago Streeterville here. In the middle of chemo (my last AC was today), in two weeks I start evey two week taxol. Can I say this all "sucks"? I'm not sure whether lady like or not. lol

My screen is Curlysue, but my name is Helen.  Look forward to learning from your experiences.  Have a huge headache right now..hope it goes away.Foot in Mouth

Welcome Curly  nice to see you here but do wish it was minus the headache.  Glad to hear this is your last A/C....it can be a little daunting.  I'm sure you are glad as well.  I'm sure nearly everyone here has said at one time or other cancer sucks and chemo sucks and we are all still ladies....just being quite honest.

I hope you do well with your Taxol and I hope you will keep coming back.  This is a safe place where you get to say what you need to say....whine, cry, rant -- whatever because this experience is a rather heavy one...and some people don't handle it well.  You may lose a friend or two, or at least feel some iritation over some of the things that are said to you.

It you read back a page or two...a lot of the women here meet face to face and do lunches or dinners together, and along the way share information or places to find it....so it is a caring, loving place to come where  the people you interact with truly and totally understand.  So once again welcome...our door is always open.

    Peace and love

    Joanne_53,

Since lago is working tomorrow, I'll let her set the time.  I'll be on "vacation" recovering from nipple reconstruction, so have more flexibility.  Home resting and all seems to have gone well. Can't tell what anything looks like because there is a "DO NOT REMOVE" sign on the bandage.  Won't see until Friday, I guess.

Well if I can meet you at the restaurant I can be there as early as 5:30. If that's too early how about 6PM?

Now that it is almost over the red devil that is, it is good to know it is the worst. I was wondering if I was going to feel so crappy the whole chemo tour. Thanks!

Curleysue.....yes, I had A/C as well.  It is very rough.  Had four rds. every three weeks.  It has been almost 5 years but the memory is still there.  Had the gamut of se's with that one.  That said....I would do it again in a heartbeat if I had too though.

I had Taxotere for my other 4 rds.  It was not nearly as bad at all.....my misfortune was my system had gotten into spilling stomach contents during A/C.....so even though not a se of Taxotere......I just kept on doing it.  It was ok though...I knew just how long I would have to deal with it so it worked well anyway.

One of the good things about being here is getting ideas about how each person finds a good fix for the se's which is the beauty of spending lots of time here.

    Rest well.

    Peace and love

    Jackie

Welcome Curlysue. Hope the SE's from your last round of A/C are not too bad. I had six rounds of ACT all combined together. So can't really single out which one was the worst. But, yes, it does SUCK!

Mdg... Baci looks so sweet, I am sure she had a great vacation too. Baci looks so light on her feet that I am sure she had no problem keeping up with you.

Wish that I could join you girls for dinner tonight, but can't really take any time away from work right now. I will be in the city this Friday for a follow-up with my spine surgeon at Northwestern. That will be my one day vacation this week.

Dr Gradishar, Oncologist and Dr Small radiologist ( he just left N.W.) Everyone in radiology are so nice. They are down in the basement.     My chemo nurse was Laura, she was the nicest funnest girl.  She made it easier.     Do you get a private room, I always requested one.  I sent you a personal message too.

Curlysue you are wrong.  Chemo does not suck,  it really really sucks!  I try to tell myself I'm halfway through, but I do have to get through the next couple of weeks before I'm officially halfway through.

Nice to get reassurance from all the ladies that you do get back to normal.  Right now it feels like I'll feel bad forever, but so glad to hear of vacations and new dogs and scholarship ceremonies - Normal life going on.  I'll definitely be planning a nice vacation after this.

I hope it is cooler near the lake for the Canadian visitors.  It certainly is not cool out in the 'burbs.
