Appreciate again and again, freshly and naively,
    the basic goods of life,
    with awe,
    pleasure, wonder and even ecstasy,
    however stale these
experiences may have become to others.
    - Abraham Maslow

No doubt we would all agree with the sentiment:“There’s more

to life than things.”Yet much of our lives seem to be spent in

the acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of material goods.

Certainly we cannot enjoy the basics of food, shelter, and clothing

without a concern for things. The truly important things of life,

however, are those which cannot be encountered by the physical

senses, purchased with money, or placed on a shelf. When we

take a look at what we value most in life, we generally find family,

friends, health, peace, contentment, laughter, helping others,

and communion with God foremost on our list of priorities.

    Hi everyone,

Adey, I have you to thank for reminding me that I meant to write BJ a thank you and have not done it. She is a marvel and still is. Many who did not go a couple of years ago to the annual Christmas bash, which was in fact my first time, would not know or remember perhaps..................BJ had to be put in the hospital for pneumonia and ploughed into her Dr. like a steam roller I bet, so she could be released to come to the Christmas party.

It was a very special day for me and while each person I met and had the pleasure to talk to ( along with all the women who share this disease ) that day are special, BJ just stood out as the person who just put aside all obstacles and MADE the day happen. Every thing that day was a memory to treasure and while I don't take away from that, the memory of having BJ present me -- " The Quote Lady " to the group, always, but always stimulates the day in total up to and including, Rita who lovingly kept me overnight at her home, took my dh and me out for a fantastic dinner, and next day with her SO got me to Maggiano's. Probably the most memorable event directly before and after my cancer journey.

I never tire of coming here and leaving my quotes and hoping that some little piece or word, or part, if not the entirety will resonate for someone. So a resounding thank you to BJ for REALLY, TRULY being the HOSTESS with the MOSTEST for as long as you could.

I know there comes a time when those who serve feel the need to stand back and devote themselves a bit more to other things. I'm certain that the get-togethers will still be just as wonderful, because it is not the get-together but the people and the sharing and caring and the acknowledgement that all have been through a lot together.

So, I salute BJ and all the ladies on this thread as well as all the others..........who walk a rough path daily but find peace in the normalcy of getting together and celebrating each other in a job well done.

Peace and love to the Illinois Ladies as well as all who take this journey.

Doing nothing for others is the undoing of one’s self. We must be purposely kind and generous, or we miss the best part of existence. The heart that goes out of itself, gets large and full of joy. This is the great secret of the inner life.We do ourselves the most good doing something for others.

The value of all service lies in the spirit in which you serve and not in the importance or magnitude of the service. Even the lowliest task or deed is made holy, joyous, and prosperous when it is filled with love.

sure hoping I make it this time without strange things added it. I may have to learn how to copy an paste all over, but seems today, the problem is just from the site I'm using.

"Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored."

Whew! Today I had mammograms - yearly on good and semi yearly on BC breasts. Got called back for more shots on my good breast, then an ultrasound. Dr. didn't like the density of the breast and wanted more info. Thankfully all ok. Told to stay on top of self exams. Will do because my BC showed up between mammograms, was really fast growing in plain view. Amazing all the places your mind goes in these situations.

At the same time a very young grandmother was waiting for her first ultrasound on a lump she has watched grow for too long. I tried to reassure her that chances were that all would be fine. Still gave her my card and said to call me just in case.

Whew is what I say too. Sure thrilled that it came out all right. It is an attention grabber when you have to stay and have more done. Always sat my teeth on edge when it happened. Most of the time it seemed to have stemmed from being turned just a fraction differently than the last time......so things looked "different" and assurances were needed.

Doesn't feel so re-assuring though when your told you need more done.

Peace and love and a couple of hugs too. Same for that grandmother. Saying a couple of prayers and filling them with hope.

Jenn- Yes although the circumstances are not what we wanted, its been wonderful going thru this ordeal with you and being so close in dates of our BMX and now on to the squishy side.

Of course all of you fellow sisters have helped us along in this process, but Jenn and I have the same PS and also had our BMX within a week of each other and now are exchanges are scheduled for the same week. Thru this whole process we have compared notes on our Drs appointments and discussions with him, so it has been wonderful. We even got a chance to meet at his office although briefly as she was leaving and I was arriving.

Hugs to all of our fellow Illinois Ladies!

"A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." ~ Albert Einstein

So sorry....I'm running way, way late for today's quote:

"Be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. Make all your friends feel there is something special in them. Look at the sunny side of everything. Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best. Be as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give everyone a smile. Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others. Be too big for worry and too noble for anger."

I went to a meeting about changes in my Medicare Advantage plan for next year. I'm delighted to hear that we will have the Silver Sneakers plan available as part of our program next year. So far they have one local health club signed up (only a mile from my house) and are hoping to get a couple more. For those who missed previous referenced to Silver Sneakers, this means I can get free membership in a local fitness place!

I'm sorry for the extra words and marks in the quote....hoping I can learn how to get them out. Virginia, so glad you are finding success with your newer insurance. I think given time and patience many people will find it to be true. Our country has needed this for a long time.

Cloudy day here. It is very evident that Fall is quite close. I'm going to be sorry to see the summer go. It was ( for where I live ) almost a perfect summer and I wondered with all the strange weather of the last few years if we would see another.

I don't actually mind winter weather as I tend to get out just as much almost then as I do when its warmer. In fact, I love walking in and as its snowing. It is a bit of a challenge but not so much that I wouldn't get out in it.

Hope you all have a really wonderful Saturday.

    Peace and love

I will be generous with my love today. I will sprinkle compliments

and uplifting words everywhere I go. I will do this knowing that

my words are like seeds and when they fall on fertile soil, a

reflection of those seeds will grow into something greater.
