Wow - Pigs here, Pigs there, Pigs are everywhere!
Had a mild scare yesterday. My 7-year old son goes to a sports camp and I got a call yesterday morning that he had a collision with another camper, a bruise on this cheek, but seemed OK. Then, a couple of hours later they phoned to tell me that he had a headache, went to the nurse's office and promptly threw up. (My son hasn't vomited since he was 3 ... he basically never gets sick). So, a quick trip to the ER was in order to rule out a concussion ... but he was fine. We got him rechecked this morning by his pediatrician, who pronounced him fit to return to camp.0 -
SMILE?? All I got was a smile? Well that is just not good enough Missy! I'm trying for laugh out loud so here goes:

Marsha, you make me giggle, too... thanks... how are you doing, girl? and your DH? Hope you are feeling good, I miss your posts...
Twink, so glad to read you are feeling a little better... the puppy will be a big source of pure fun and cuddling... thinking of you, sweetie, hang in there...
Big hugs to all of you,
Catherine

Twink, I'm just dropping in from the more recent chemo threads to say hello. You have always been so encouraging and supportive of us "new" girls; I figured it was way past time for me to send you a hug. Here's a pic of me trying to cheer you up--that is, if I was a piglet instead of an otter:
I am also saying some "good platelet" chants on your behalf. Neupogen injections seem to be able to help platelets recover after chemo, as well as reducing the period of neutropenia. That's one advantage of Neupogen over Neulasta.
I cannot imagine how frustrating this whole thing is for you. Just know that there are a lot of us sending you good wishes and comforting thoughts.
Big hugs, Twink--

Hi all,
Marsha you are a riot! Thanks for the chuckles. I hope you found joy too Twy. I know you did. And what a gift, a puppy to love on. There is nothing like "puppy breath". Hope you are feeling better and those meds are beginning to give you a "one up" on BCA.
So great to have Catherine back with us. Really missed you girl.
I will try Skype one of these days pretty soon. I am way behind here today. Can't decide whether to clean bathrooms or spread bark mulch. I let my housekeeper go during my remodeling(she wasn't that good). I need to replace her though. I would rather pay a housekeeper and work in my yard, than to pay a yard guy and clean house. Never liked that job.
I am not computer literate enough to change my avatar to a "piggie", but I would if I could.
I continue to pray and think of you constantly Twink. Please, please get better soon. You mean so much to everyone on these boards. We all need you girl. Love and hugs, Sammie Kay

Sammie; Let me see if I can help you.
click on this link http://www.iconator.com/tags.php?type=avatar&tag=pig
move your cursor on top of an image you like
use your right click on your mouse
it will have prompts go to the the one that says "save as" or save to file left click then save
go to your "my home" here
go to my profile
click on "edit public information" and scroll down
it will show a box above your current avatar with another box that says "browse"
cursor on browse and left click
it will bring up your "files"
the new pig avatar your just saved should be at the bottom of the list and should have some type of wording that will identify it as one you selected
put your cursor on that file and left click
that new file address should now be in the box beside "browse"
click on the little box below your current avatar to delete it
then click on "save and exit"
I hope I didn't forget a step!

Marsha; The hotdog squid is too too funny!
Hillary; 7 must be the age that all little boys scare their mommies. Almost the exact same thing happened to a dear friend's little boy a couple of months ago. I think my little Natalie will be our scary one. She already climbs the columns in my house!
Phyl; So nice to hear from you.
Catherine; I truly enjoy chatting with you. Even though I can't seem to get my Skype connection to work properly.
Leah; Sorry about the interruption the other day. Things were crazy with dh and dgd... and the auction.
Carynn; I am hoping the heat is not unbearable for you right now.
Twilah; I want you to know that you are on my mind daily. I am here for you if needed. Just let me know. It would help me to help you. Isn't that a song?
Love you all...

Thanks Melanie,
That will be a great help. I will try that tomorrow. It is late and I must get to bed. Work tomorrow. So sweet of you to offer me some help.
Twyla, hope you are feeling o.k. Love you. You are always on my mind. Think that's a song too. LOL.
I will check in tomorrow. Love all you guys, Sammie Kay

Tuesday AM and all's well. I do like the new look around here.... a girl slips away for a few days and somebody comes in a redecorates. Nothing like a little redecorating to lift the spirits. Bloodwork done yesterday looks good so I'm on for chemo tomorrow monring. My Dad is here so he and Phillip will come hold my hands (thank you Hillary). Platelets are still very low but apparently cause for optimism since they'd have been low from the chemo anyway and had to have come up some on their own. Onc thinks the bone marrow is involved and hence the more complicated that usual platelet problem. Oink Oink everybody! I'll keep you posted.
Love.

OMG! I'm in chocolate heaven. The doorbell just rang for a delivery of a little happiness. So far, the raspberry and strawberry have significantly elevated my mood! I'm off to try the ginger along with a fresh brewed cup of coffee. Thanks aren't enough Hillary... how can I say... c'est magnifique! (like a song Melanie).

Twilah - Good to see you in a better mood ... I strongly believe in the power of chocolate. And, remember, you don't have to share these - they're just for you! I tried looking for a chocolate pig, but the only one I could find was stuffed with bacon, which somehow didn't quite appeal!
Also, I'm glad that both your hands will be held tomorrow, but you know I'm there in a flash if you need me (or grow a third arm!).
I did some retail therapy this morning as L&T was having a sandal sale. I got two pairs, one classic brown flat sandal (Joan & David) and one ugly, but supremely comfortable Merrill sandal. There were tons and tons of yellow patent leather high heeled shoes and sandals and they made me smile thinking of Twilah and Melanie. But, I look ghastly in yellow and I would probably break a leg in heels! I also managed to score a tan light-weight jean skirt for under $20!
Still waiting for SammieKay's pig!
Hugs to all,
Hillary

okay Marsha, I missed the seafood platter....yummmmmm....(eyes rolling)... that one got a out-loud-laugh. Thanks! I honestly can't imagine eating that but then it must be my appetite problem ....

Twilah... bonjour... so glad to see you post... how is the abraxane going for you? Avastin I would think is uneventful (runny nose with some bleeding, maybe, but nothing worse than that)? The waiting for the Abraxane was the longest: they need to let it dissolve in albumine without stirring so it does not foam, and they won't do it in advance (too expensive to waste)...
I like the thought of you going there tomorrow with your Philipp and your dad.
How is the puppy?
You are constantly on my mind and I am sending you the warmest wishes for a good chemo tomorrow while you are munching on Hillary's chocolates... "C'est si bon..." as the song says... Hogs and quiches...
Catherine
and this was taken just for you, reentering Wyoming from Utah...

TWINK>hope you are doing okay girl! Glad to read the brain scans were good!
I just had another check up with my BS using an ultrasound, a mammogram using a new digital mammogram machine and saw my rads doc. They told me these newer machines are catching 50% more of the breast cancers!!! It looks like a normal mammo machine but no longer have to hold your breath. So far everything looks good! BS is trying to see if my insurance will pay for an MRI for the first one since after the diagnosis MRI just to be on the safe side. I see the BS in 4 months and the mammo/rads doc in 6 months.
My Marine son is home on leave so enjoying time with him! He is still in San Diego, is having surgery to fix a broken screw in his knee shortly after he gets back there.

Twink, so very happy to see a post or two from you. And in Hog Heaven with those chocolates Hil sent you! I've been checking in constantly to see if I got a LOL from you! I know it is not easy to laugh at much of anything right now but I had to try.
I think of you everyday, sending you happy/positive vibes. You can do this sweetie, you are one of the strongest of all of us. I just know you will be strapping on those yellow sandals and strutting your stuff real soon. Love You.
Catherine, "hogs and quiches" TOO FUNNY

Hi girls!
Sorry that other than a quick fly-by, it's been a couple of days since I checked in. Things are good here. I've just had a few challenges being off my meds for so long before & after the bone-graft. Had my follow up today got the green light, and gave myself a shot literally when I walked in the door. So hopefully I'll be back to "normal" soon. Also saw the Onc today. Nothing to report, other than I've had some trouble with sleeping so I broke down and asked for something. It's all probably related to pain and stress from pain, so hopefully I wont need it for long, or not at all.
Hillary - How's the little guy? Is he home from camp?
Marsha - I don't know about the redneck seafood! LOL!
Catherine - Did I ever tell you welcome home? How's things? It's always so hard to get back to the "grind" after a nice restful vacation.
SammyKay - How are you?? Did you guys ever finish the remodel? We, well actually DH, is now tackling the Den in earnest. We're taking our time, so it may be a while before I have any real news to report.
Melanie - Thanks for thinking of me. Summer is my favorite time of year, 117 degrees and all. We spend a lot of time in the pool, so it's actually quite enjoyable. July and August can be bad here when we get the humidity with the extreme heat. As long as it doesn't bring on any additional hot flashes, I'm good to go.
Terry - So glad to hear the party went well. Hope your done recovering / picking up from it by now.
Twink - You know you're in my daily thoughts and prayers. Hope you're home and feeling ok after today's cocktail. The chocolate sounds heavenly! How's that puppy doing? Cant wait ‘til you're all better and we can have some real cocktails together.
Hi Jan! Nice to see ya over here! This must have been a day for Dr's appointments for all of us, eh?
Wishing everyone a wonderful evening and rest of the week. See ya's soon!0 -
Good morning all...
I can feel the collective sigh of relief to hear from Twilah and to see her in better spirits. I know, I know... a positive attitude may not *really* make a difference, but who the hell really knows??? So so glad to see a smile from you, Twilah.
If anybody checked out the ASCO news, it wasn't anything to write home about, but the conference next month on breastcancer.org is entitled Triple-Negative Breast Cancer, with Dr. George Sledge from Indiana University on July 16. So many FCCers are TN, as they say, so maybe there will be some good news for us there.
Leaving for Minneapolis tonight for the delivery of some Oracle training to a group from my former company. If I do say so myself, training is one of my strong suits. Thought I wouldn't want to do it all the time, I do love it. They sent me about 75 topics they want addressed (about 6 months in on a new system), so it will be fun. Not a lot of pre-planning, just power up and go. The time should fly by. Home very late Friday night and then some fun planned for the weekend.
I got accepted for the flyfishing breast cancer retreat on Aug. 1-3, so that will be fun. But lots of fun planned between now and then- including a trip to San Diego with a dear friend.
Thought for the day: from Tolle and A New Earth: Spirituality is about paying attention to your life- always asking, in every moment, What can I learn from this?
Love to you all.

Hi all,
Thanks Melanie. Good instructions. Of course DH helped, He uploaded the piggy, but I took it from going to "edit my profile" and walla....here I am another Miss Piggy.
Hope everyone is doing well. I only get one day off this week, so am dragging.
Hugs to all. Especially Twyla.
Love, Sammie Kay

Hey Twilah,
Hope yesterday's chemo really zapped those cancer cells! By my counting, this was week three, which means that you get next week off, right? Do you still have to go to HUP for an appointment? If so, I could meet you and Phillip for lunch ...
Hugs,
Hillary

(smile) just noshing a chocolate (smile)
Yes, yesterday, was #3 and I was able to get it...that's the good news. I'm off until 2 weeks from now then back for more. Onc say 3-6 months, more likely 6 months but she's pretty non-comittal. I must say, I am starting to feeling more myself. A few lingering aches and pains and small complaints but I'm a little more hopeful than I was this time last week. Thanks to you all for rooting for me and raising my spirits. The cards are beautiful and thoughtful. The chocolate is beyond description. My hair is falling out but I have a new wig on order. My Dad goes home on Sunday but sister arrives on Saturday and a close friend from Germany arrives tomorrow so we'll have visitors (and a little help). Hillary, I have an appointment with Steinman on the 2nd or 3rd so, if I don't (or can't) reschedule to coincide with the next chemo, maybe we could do lunch? The puppy has been sick with kennel cough, poor little thing. She is so darn cute...the definition of cute has to be an 8 week old bulldog. Hugs all... to each and every one of you. Thanks for being here.
Twilah

Did I mention how much I like the pigs? Makes me smile when I come here. Thanks for that.

LEAH Just some ideas for your avatar!! Catch up girlfriend............

Twink, thank you for posting... so nice of you. Yes, Abraxane is not a hair booster in itself... but you looked so pretty even without any... good that it does not make you feel too, too achy or inconvenienced (finger tips feeling funny, etc.).
So glad to read that you have great family and friends support.
Kennel cough... poor baby... that's horrible to hear (Zoe came from the shelter with it and gave it to Toby... we had the feeling of being in a sanatorium with old tuberculosis patients... they got over it just fine -- with antibiotics to prevent secondary infections only -- but the coughing was gross... and Toby was really sick, more than Zoe).
Do you like chocolate mousse? (a real one, I mean, no coco powder)??
Nice to see all the postings... hi, girls, you are such a fine crew... wishing you all a nice evening and sending hugs...
Catherine (swamped in translation work...)

Hey Catherine, I LOVE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE! LOL Especially the no coco powder kind! Don't work too hard.
Twink enjoy your two week break and soooooooo glad you are feeling a bit better. What did you think of that risque Miss Piggy I found for Leah's avatar? HAHA
Terry, OMG 100 people??? ECK Sammie Kay you been out sailing with hubby lately? Sounds like you are back to full time work. Leah, traveling is good for the soul, enjoy yourself, you deserve it. Well hello Carynn and Jan and Pat, so good to hear from you guys. Phyl, where are you???? I found a great Harley Pig for you avatar.
Our production of Always Patsy Cline we took to Winter Haven, Fl was a huge success. 3 shows sold out, standing ovations every show. Cindy (Patsy) and I went down for 5 days, had a great time. We missed The Harvey Awards (Ocala's version of the Tonys, LOL) Patsy and I tied for an award for "Best Lead Performance in a Musical" The show also won Best Sound, Best Lighting and Best Musical Performance. We were pretty syched. The next week I went to my mom and dads in Kentucky. Their 50th wedding anniversay, a family reunion, my nephews birthday and Father's Day all rolled into a long weekend. Now just back to work, I'm doing some part time work at the theatre in the Box Office. Pay is for shit but I love the job LOL
