    Hello All!

So much heartache... I am thinking and praying for all of us.

On another note, there is a magazine called Women and Cancer that looks quite good. They had an article about Casting for Recovery in the summer issue. Subscriptions are free to cancer patients. Here's the main page: https://womenandcancermag.com/Default.aspx.

    Love.

    Hi all,

Virtual hugs to Melanie as you wait with your Mom and Twilah with your chemo.

We are on the outer fringes of Dolly.  It is about 400 mile south of us but we are on the bad side and the size of the storm is such that we are getting the outer bands.  There is some kind of high pressure causing it to go in directly west instead of northwest.  That is good for us.  Thanks for asking.

My weekend with granddaughter was great.  There are some problems there, but I am trying to be supportive and encouraging.  She goes to year round school and is off the month of Aug., so may be back to spend more time with us.

Next week I am taking a week off from work to have my #2 daughter's children while she works.  They are 12, 9,and 8.  Holy cow!! Have I lost my mind LOL.  Actually I am really looking forward to having them.  I don't get to spend much time with them and hardly ever  without the rest of the family.  We will go to the zoo, movies, library and we have a pool, so I am sure they will swim alot.

We will try to sail this weekend before the kids come to stay.

Hope this fins everyone happy and feeling well.  Guess what tomorrow is?  One year since my last dose of chemo.  Celebrate!!!

Carynn, your remodeling sounds great.  Ours is about done.  We still have artwork and mirrors and pictures to hang.  I am waiting for Mike to do it as he is very good at it and I make about twice as many holes as I need.

Love reading everyone's posts.  Thanks for the website Leah.  I subscribe to Cure, but this one being specific to women will be more interesting.

Love and hugs to all, Sammie Kay

    Hi all

    Twilah....I sent you a PM

Just got home from a baseball game....our local AA minor league Altoona Curve....an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.....they won!

Son's team took second place in their league.  They start a tournament tomorrow, so I took a vacation day to see his first game at noon.

Sammie Kaye....congrats on your first year chemo free....mine was July 5th.  Hope you have a wonderful time with the kids.   I would just swim with them and relax & enjoy!

The heat here has finally broken after a good rain storm last night and today.  Feels so good.  Don't know how you southern girls manage.

Going off to bed....love to all....

    Ola, Chanchitos...

Twink... ??? Muchos Gracias.... Isn't that cute?  Took a picture immediately and... voilà... for good luck to all... Kiss

Catherine, as busy as ever, about to explode... (but yesterday I went to test-drive the Smart... just the right size for me... will take a year to get... unless I get lucky on the "orphan" list... DH wants me to do that to be more independant... I hate driving)

    Thanks Twyla{{{{{{{{{Twyla]]]]]]]]]]]  So cute.

Terry, my daughter's neighbor was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 6th round of the draft.  He is a senior this year.  His mom is encouraging him to go to college and his dad wants him to go to MLB.

Catherine, what is a Smart?  A good mileage car?  I am thinking about buying  NIsson Altima.  It isn't so small, but gets good mileage.  My DH is 6'6", so doesn't fit in a small car. LOL

Well, guess I had better go to bed.  TGIF tomorrow.

    Hugs to all, Sammie Kay

Hillary, I could not agree more: here is our Twilah with a lot on her mind, and she not only found the most appropriate pigglets, and went through all the mailing procedure...  {{{{{{{{Twilah}}}}} (not to mention that I made it my avatar immediately.... :-)

Have all a pleasant and restful week-end... will be working, with breaks... tonight, concert of gypsy music, jewish music and flamenco in the neighborhood... musicians from NYC and from here, too...  my kind of music...

SammieKay, a Smart is a tiny-bity car (although sitting in the front feels like a normal car), easy to drive (with great mileage), parks in the smallest spots (not an issue in the US, I agree...), relatively cheap, very sturdy (=safe)... go to Google... you'll want one, but the waiting is ridiculous... we'll see when it happens... at least, I am in the queue...).  The right size for me...

Hugs and love to all of you, wonderful ladies, extra special ones for Twink...

Just a quick update for my posse of piglets... Chanchitos (apparently means little pigs). I'm so pleased you are all finding these little charms heartwarming.  I did too.  I have two more to send, one leaving on Monday and the last one waiting for an address.

I said goodbye for now to Leah, about two hours ago, as she headed back to Philly for the night. We had a nice and fairly productive visit (right Leah?.... I've already been to visit the notary).  Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!  I wouldn't have made the effort to get this paperwork out of the way this quickly without Leah's whip-cracking directions.

I also had my longest day in the last two months yesterday.  I was up for 14 hours straight.... no napping at all!  Despite being exhausted by the time I went to bed it didn't seem to help with my insomnia unfortunately.  Reports from last week's PET/CT are somewhat vague but positive nevertheless.... notably less uptake than the last scan.  I can tell because I'm feeling almost human again.  The transfusion on Wednesday took care of the immediate hemoglobin problem and increased my energy substantially.  My platelets are well within the normal range now (187) as are the liver enzymes.  So.... I'm feeling guardedly optimistic that I won't be gone this month or next. I have the coming week off from chemo so I expect to feel pretty good by the end of next week.  I also expect to be able to get a pedicure finally Smile

I'll close now on a sadder note and offer my very deepest condolences to Melanie.  Losing one's mother is one of life's most difficult trials and I sympathize.  I hope to talk to you soon but in the meantime, know that my thoughts are with you and your family.

    Love you all,

    Twilah

A little pig arrived at my place yesterday, you are amazing Twink. Thank you so much. And enjoy that pedicure

Melanie, Lots of love coming your way. My mother died 3 years ago this month while I was on holiday in Europe - I still miss her terribly especially our Saturday morning chats. It is not easy.

We have had a couple of days of really bad weather. It was forecast to be even worse but just wind and rain which caused some flooding on the high tides. This is a real problem as we are just a series of large islands. Today is wet and very cold with another low pressure expected about Wednesday and in the moddle of this my daffidils are trying to flower. I think they have got their timing a little wrong.

    Love to all

So happy to hear you are feeling better Twilah! My daily wish is for you is to get strength from all of US and fight fight fight!  Many years ago when I was in Army boot camp, during a 24 mile road march with soldiers falling out right and left from exhaustion, my drill sergeant came up to me and struck me on the metal helmet on my head and shouted "Soldier.....You put one foot in front of the other and KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!"  Hell yes I finished the march, he scared the crap out of me. But I know if he hadn't snapped me out of it I probably would have given up.

So go on Twilah.....Keep on keeping on girl!

My condolences to Melanie and her family on your loss. Losing a mother is so......devastating. But if I may, can I share an experience with you all.....this made me and my sisters believers:  Mom died in 1997 at the age of 63 after a 5 year battle with ovarian cancer (damn that beast). She lived with my youngest sister who was 22 years old. Dad died many years ago and mom never remarried. Anyway, so even though we had offered to stay with my sister until she was comfortable staying alone in the home, she declined and said she was fine. About 3 days after the funeral, lil sis called and said during the night while she was asleep, Mom came to her and said "Tell the kids (we were all grown up now) I'm doing fine, I'm very happy and not to be sad, tell them I love you all very much".

Sis said she could see mom was wearing one of her business skirt suits, jewelry and all, she had all her hair (she had lost it due chemo) and she was smiling. My sister said she was trying so hard to open her eyes so she could wake up while mom was talking, but she couldn't. After mom finished talking, she walked to sis's bed and put her arms around her to hug her. Sis said she could feel the pressure of moms hug on her arms. Finally, she then opened her eyes and didn't see mom, but her favorite perfume was in the air!

My sister is very .....black and white. Not very open minded about things that can't be explained. so this was a real eye opener for her and when she shared it with the rest of us we started crying in relief that our beloved Mother had paid her a visit to let us know she was ok. No other way to explain it. I could go on with things that have occurred since her passing that let us know she is still watching over us.

    Love, Pat

Pat, thank you for sharing with us... Melanie, all my condoleances, sweetie...

Leah, hope the driving was OK.

Have all a nice Sunday...  each in your nick of the woods with your little chanchito...

Melanie --  My deepest condolences on the loss of your mother. Having only lost mine a few years ago, I can empathize, as I still miss her. I'll catch myself thinking about how I would explain something (good or bad) to her, and then realize that she's not here.

Well, my little piglets, I will be away this week on vacation ... to the Poconos (remember ... gotta find things that a 7 year old boy would like)!  We didn't take any vacations last year, so we're doing two this year (Jersey shore in a couple of weeks). My dh and I never take computers on vacation, because it is too easy to get sucked into work.  So, I wish all well until I return ...

    Hugs,

    Hillary

Melanie - my heart goes out to you.

Twink, Leah, Hillary - so sorry to have missed an opportunity but good to hear you connected.  Twink - good to hear things are looking up.

Hi to everyone else.  Gotta run - crashed either a motherboard or hard drive last night (hoping for the motherboard - I'm horrendous at backing things up!).

Thank you all so very much.  It has been a difficult 3 weeks.  I feel that everything was the way my mother would have wanted.  I know there were a few days that she understood what we were saying and was able to respond.  I feel that she got enjoyment from the family just being around her and talking...even though she was not herself by any stretch of the immagination.  We still really don't know for sure what happened.  The most logical guess is that she had a stroke that just didn't show up on the scan.  Her funeral was beautiful, but what was very touching to my brother and myself were the old photos that several relatives had brought.  What an insight to a my mother when she was young...and beautiful.

I will come back later and do some catching up.

    Love you all....

    Hello all,...

If you haven't guessed, I am pretty task-oriented, so it helped to get thru mountains of papers that we all have without a corporate relocation!!!!!  So I will take credit for allowing no procrastination on my watch!

I think we should be planning a fall together, and have spoken to the travel queen Ms. Melanie about what we could do with a Dallas long weekend or something like that in early October. So start looking at those calendars, please. We would like as many of the piglets to show as we can possibly get there. So let us know what the absolute worst constraints are...

Much love to all.  If I don't say it enough, I will say it now- I don't know how I would have done this journey without you all. I love you.

Twi.....I just looooove my wee little piggie!  I have not been in my office other than to take care of absolute "gotta do now's" for 3 weeks and the gift was such a pleasant surprise.  Martha is convinced that you made it yourself...hehe.   I think I should let her believe you are a most talented wood carver!  I will cherish it always....

I am casting my vote for the first weekend in October also!

Just a quick note from a tired Gammie.

Melanie, I apologize for missing your post about your mother's passing.  I am so  sorry to hear that.  I have seen those pictures displayed at funerals and it is so touching to look back through the years and see that person young and healthy.  I know that meant a lot to  you and your brother.

It is late and I am pooped.  I forgot how it is to get one meal on the table and clean up and then the kids are ready for another.  Actually they have been pretty good, but high energy.

I will catch up with all of you soon.  We will be in Vegas the last 2 or 3 days of Sept and first day of Oct. for our National Dealer Show.  Hope you mean the first full week of Oct.  Just let me know some dates.

Hugs and love to all, Sammie Kay
