Sammie;  LOL...I have my own little personal "tornadoes" with me, so I certainly can sympathize.  Last night was the first night that they both spent the night with us at the same time.  In the middle of the night, I moved myself and Natalie to another bedroom.  Neither DH or I got much sleep last night...but totally worth it!  We had about 15 people over last night for our weekly swim and hot dogs.  So the girls had a blast.  Of course, mostly I hear..."that's mine!"

Twilah;  Let me know what I can do for you.

Okay...need to go now.  One tornado needs to be relocated to the east coast and the other west...lol.

    Good morning all,

I have managed to get assigned as project manager for a high visibiility, basically can't be done in the time allotted project. So back to 70+ hours and high stress, for about 2 months. Oh well. I think I will just not have to worry about things so much. (Where are Caryn and Phyl????)

But for the next 2.5 days, this is the priority:

    Talk to you Sunday night!

Hope you catch a big one Leah.  Is it 'catch & release'?  Good luck with the mammo Pat.  Hi and hugs to everybody else.   Melanie, I can't believe you're asking what you can do for me given your recent loss.  Phillip is off to Dallas next Thursday to buy a house.  We've executed all the paperwork to sell this one to the relo company.  My current worry is getting something lined up in time for the start of the school year....Meg's sr. year!

This is the week off from chemo and and I'm starting to come around.  My sinuses are a real problem but otherwise I just feel as though I have a touch of the flu. My sis arrives tonight with her DH for a little viist.  She was here last month and I do enjoy their compamy very much.  Wonderful SIL left on Monday and I miss her help already.  Time to stand on my own two feet again I guess.

    Love love

Twilah;  We are headed to Iowa next Tuesday or we could have met up with Phil.  I hope your realtor is stepping up to the plate on this one.  Also...have you read any of the discussions about Apricot seeds?  Very interesting.  I have done some research and decided that at this stage I won't go there because of the cyanide issues.  But...given a different set of circumstances, I think I would.

Also...I jumped the gun a bit on the first weekend in Oct.  I am the designated babysitter as my daughter has a convention that weekend...in Dallas...lol.  I thought it was in September...wrong.  2nd weekend is bad also...Children's Hospital Charity event that I am heavily involved with.  So...can we look at the end of Sept or middle of Oct?

Leah:  Hope you catch a big one also....and get to EAT it!!!

    love ya all...

Oh...funny story.  A couple of months ago I told little Miss Natalie that I loved her "more than the world".  Her reply was..."I love you more than sausage....and I love you more than chocolate".   She really really loves both those foods...lol.  Don't know why I thought of that right now!

Morning all. This little pig reporting in. You will LOL when I tell you I had to do a google search to find out who Arnold was. One problem with living in this part of the world but seeing some of the 'Arnolds' I rather like them.

What a week we have had as another storm hit the whole country  on Tuesday causing a great deal of damage in some parts and unfortunately some lose of life. A couple of months ago much of the country had drought conditions. The whole of NZ is about 2/3 the size of California and we have an incredible coastline, nowhere is more than 75 miles from the sea in a direct line. Another storm is supposed to be headed our way tonight or tomorrow and in the middle of this my daffodils are flowering. they do make a bright splash of colour on these bleak days.

The house is like a railway station at present with people coming and going. DS has moved back in as he is waiting for a visa so that he can start his new job in Guernsey and DD2 (and the bump) will be back in the country in two week.Hope DS gets to see DD before he goes. It will be great to have Erin home and it won't be long until the baby arrives.

Had better get moving and do something useful as I am still in my dressing gown.

Have a great week end everyone and do try to get some rest.

Leah, how did the fishing trip go?  Did you actually touch the worm?  LOL

Had my rad onc AND med onc visits on Thursday.  Finally moved from every 3 month follow ups to every 6 month!  WooHoo

Stay safe in that weather Alyson.  Twink, thinking of you.  Melanie you are such a social butterfly and a fabulous grandmother.  Bet those kids love staying with you.  Pat how did  the mammo go?  Carynn, something going on with the threads?  I don't venture past this one and haven't noticed any problems here.   Hello to everyone.

Hey Marsha, glad to hear you're doing well. Yesterdays Mammo showed nothing new and the radiologist was SO COOL, she asked me if I had any concerns at all. I said my breast was the same, no problems but the lymph nodes in my left armpit seem to enlarge and get tender, then go back to normal. She went ahead and did a sonogram not just of that armpit, but the mastectomy side armpit and the mastectomy site and the lt boob. Everything showed normal, nothing to worry about. She said nodes can get tender for any little thing. So I feel good about it.

    Hello ALL!

What a fabulous weekend!  Meeting other women, outdoors, learning a new skill and bonding through all the love and pampering... Casting for Recovery weekend was phenomenal!

Here is a pic for your enjoyment! Hint: It takes about 15 minutes to suit up and down out of all that gear!

    Great pic, Leah ...

Melanie -- Not sure how you're counting the weekends for our *Dallas* reunion, but the only one that might work for me would be Oct. 17th - Oct. 20th (as long as I could get back here by mid-afternoon).

We had a wonderful vacation in the Poconos, with lots of hiking to see waterfalls and one canoe trip.  We were staying at a hotel that provided breakfast and dinner, so it was very relaxing ... the only decision being what hike to do on what day!

    Hugs,

    Prayers Needed!

Well, after my good mammo the other day (friday 8-1), I spent the next day feeling out of sorts and noticing I had a little cough while talking, couldn't finish a sentence without a little "cough". Then Sunday I woke up, went to water the yard in the morning and couldn't walk around the yard ---short of breath sort of like I was running instead of walking. Finally went to the ER thinking maybe I had asthma or something even though I didn't hear any wheezing.

Long story short, they found a chest mass in between my lung spaces (mediastinal) that had apparently been leaking fluid and filling up the pleural space on my right lower lung (called a pleural effusion). Thus the shortness of breath. Even with high flow oxygen my level would not go higher than 92% (normal with NO oxygen is 90-100%). I was admitted overnight.

They did a thoracentices where they drain the fluid off the that area (scarier sounding than it really was!) and immediately I started violently coughing. They reassured me that that was normal because the lung could now re-expand and take up its normal space. By the time the proceure was over--about 15 minutes--I was feeling great, breathing great and could laugh and talk with no problem.Went back to my room and did not use any more oxygen and levels were normal at 96%!!! Very dramatic! I was discharged since there was nothing more to do except wait for the exam results of that fluid taken.

The way I understand if is if the results show the fluid has cancer cells that that is what the mass is, cancerous. And back to chemo and all that. If no cancer cells found then deal with the mass some other way.

I see my oncologist later this week, I have to call now and make the appt, but the exam results wouldn't be back for a couple of days so I didn't rush.  I feel good, no trouble breathing. I decided to not start my ER job until I have the plan of action in case I have to run around getting scans and stuff.

So my friends, thank you for letting me share this with you. You all understand EXACTLY how I feel, so much more than family members who haven't been through what we have. What I hope for is some other reason for the mass, that it's not cancer, not malignant in any way. What I am preparing for is hearing it's BACK and more chemo in order. I'll let you know something when I know.

    Love, Pat

Pat;  How scary for you!  I am certainly hoping that tomorrow will answer your questions with good results.

Marsha;  You beee sooo funny.  Pig obsessed gal...lol.  You would fit right in here in soooie country.

Leah;  I can't wait to hear more details about your trip!  You look so happy and relaxed....just the way it should be.

Hillary;  October 17th should be doable for me.  How would it work for the rest of you????

We are in our friends motorohome headed north to Iowa.  I don't like state fairs, but I am really looking forwarded to being back at this one.  We are also going to the Knoxville Nationals tomorrow night.  Our Iowa friends will be throwing a big 'ol Hoe Down Satruday night.  Should be fun.

Twilah;  Thinking of you.  Do you have an infusion tomorrow?

    Love ya all....

I do have an infusion tomorrow.  Sorry for being a little absent lately.  My sister visited with her DH last weekend, which was nice.  I've also been pretty blue and stressed out with the magnitude of the work associated with the move and my situation in general.  Pat, I hope that everything works out with your test results.  We all understand the feeling soooo very well.  Hillary, I think I got my dates mucked up and missed responding about lunch.  I'll be at HUP at 10a tomorrow.  I love your piggy's slippers Marsha!!!! Have fun Melanie and hope to see you soon in TX.  Leah, I'm so glad to hear you had a good time.  I should put fly-fishing on my list of things to do.  I love you all more than sausage (perhaps not chocolate though).

      Tongue out

    Pat...praying for you....hugs  ((((Pat)))))

and Twilah....a virtual hug for you too....for chemo tomorrow ((((Twilah))))

Leah...looks like great fun!   Brings back memories of ocean fishing with my great aunt and her hubby when we were kids.  By the way, she is a 94 year old breast cancer survivor now!

Sorry I have been absent...I too have been worrying about the cough I have and the funny taste in my mouth with a numb tongue.   Was at the onc's last Thursday and they feel it is my blood pressure meds.   They could not hear wheezing or anything.  It is a "tickle" kind of cough, annoying.   I see my family doc and will ask her about all this on Friday.

I am working on the college bills this evening....yuck...needless to say, with 2 universities getting my money, I won't be traveling to Dallas any time soon!

Will be thinking of all of you...especially Pat & Twilah

Pat, we sure can understand the anxiety... hoping so much it is nothing malignant and not bc playing tricks on you.  ((((((((((((((Pat)))))))))))))))

Twilah, I wished I could fly to Paris (for any frivolous reason) and bring you back the very best of La maison du Chocolat... It is too hot to have it shipped right now, it would melt something awful... Did you see the movie with Juliette Binoche (Chocolat)?  cute tale with great music.  I'll be in the infusion room with you (at least half of me, since the other half will be with Pat). I wish so sincerely you did not have all the stress of the move to top it all, this is too much. Hope you find a place where you feel good and close to a good medical facility where you'll be followed up close and personal... wishing you an uneventful infusion tomorrow, and platelets staying the way you need them to be... ((((((((((((Twink))))))))))))

Leah, you look terrific: do you get to keep the gear... so "pro"...

Marsha, so good to have you back here... you belong here... your pictures are great. I am not sure I get it about Arnold, but, since I am not a citizen (yet), I cannot vote, so I'll pass on this one... :-)  What are you busy with these days?

Sammie Kay, did the storm affect you?  We need that rain to travel to Colorado...  Hope you are enjoying your kitchen... let's Skype sometime soon...

Carynn, still remodeling or you are already enjoying the results? Hope your RA is giving you a break. Thinking of you often... wish you'd be on Skype more...

Wild Jan, how are you doing dear lady... the messaging on Skype is indeed a good idea: you see people, and we can communicate live through the chat feature. Still producing all these great sky pictures?  How is your DH leg? hoping you are feeling good and all is well for all, not forgetting your marine-son...

Terry,hi, don't keep that cough... it may be allergies: there are small blood vessels in the throat that trigger irrepressible cough, difficult to stop (ice water works)... very annoying.

Hillary, give a big kiss and warm hug to Twink for me tomorrow. Glad you had a good fun vacation in the midst of nature.  I bet your son loved it. Take care.

Alyson, I see you are on line, but it is when I am so pooped by my work, I am generally going to bed... Hope you are feeling ok.

Dear all, take care of yourselves and have a good week.  I am still swamped in work, hence my rare posts, but you are in my thoughts constantly... Hugs to all,

     Catherine

Morning Friends.  Took a break from an online class.  Sorry for staying away all too long but I do think of you all.   Trying to get ahead with the office work in preparation of being out of the office over the next month.  My sole staff member has been off on medical leave since June 26th and he has another surgery tomorrow so he'll be off until I leave for Switzerland August 19th.  I'll be back August 25th but then in and out of work for the better part what remains of August and all of September.  More surgery September 8th.  Trying to see if I can get a cheap flight to Dallas for the reunion - time will tell.   Also getting ready for DD's wedding next Saturday.

Twink - sent you a thank-you email this morning.  Hugs for your infusion today - you and Hillary have a grand old time.

Pat - prayers going out to you.

Leah - love the pic.  I definitely will try to get to Poconos for the retreat next year.  I'm on the mailing list for CFR so hopefully as soon as they post the schedule, I can get on the list.

Melanie - sounds like you're having a great summer.  Enjoy those grandkiddies.  I don't get to see mine nearly enough.

    Marsha - miss you!

Alyson - hope you weathered the storms ok.

Hugs to all - back to my DB2 Essentials class (argh!).

Hi all! I'm sorry to have been away for so long. Work's been a killer. We just recently did a reduction in work force - which is always painful.

Pat - I'm so sorry to hear of your news. Hoping it was just an anomaly and nothing serious. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Please let us know when you hear something.

Leah - I'm here!! I'm in the long week club as well. Loved your picture from the trip. Looked like you had a great time!

Alyson - I didn't even think that Arnold the Pig might not be known in NZ! Funny part is that the show that featured him was on years and years ago; but he's kind of become an American icon. ☺

Marsha - Congrats on graduating. ;) Is your play still running anywhere?

Hillary - So glad to hear you had a good time! I wanna vacation! (read with a long whiiinnnne!)
Melanie - How's the fair and the hoedown? Hugs to you!

Twink - How's things? Hope you're feeling good. Loved your comment - that would make a great signature - never more than chocolate!

Terry - Whats new and exciting? Hope the cough is gone.

Catherine - The remodel is finally done! We still need end tables, but we're holding off for a bit. All of the furniture stores will have Labor Day sales, so hopefully we'll find something then.

Phyl - Nice to see you! Is that a mainframe db class you're taking? Good luck with it - know you'll ace it!

Had my 6 month mammo and us this morning. Got the all clear. I told the Radiologist at the facility how much I appreciated her always coming out to talk to me the same day. Such a relief. She showed me the us and films this time. It was the first time I ever saw the little wire they mark the spot with. It really does look like a pink ribbon. ☺ Kinda cool - as far as those things go. Unfortunately, the rest of my day could have been better. One of those days where everything I touched turned to s&%@!! But in the scheme of things, the good news makes up for it.

I'm very sorry to say that I wont be able to make it in October. Things are very tough in the industry right now, so keep your fingers crossed that I'll still be employed by then! We are hoping for the best, planning for the worse, and other than planning a few quick driving trips up to the mountains, were staying pretty close to home for now.

Ok girls - assuming the position. Love and hugs from me to you.

{{{{{{{{Pat}}}}}}}  Wow what a shocker.  I am so sorry for what you are going through.  I hope and pray this is not the beast.  Do take care and let us hear from you as soon as you know something.

{{{{{{{{{{Twy}}}}}}}}} chemo and moving.  What a combo.  I hope you have some folks to help you out.  I may have missed it, but were you able to retire?

I have been so tired since the grandkids left.  It is so terribly hot and humid here.  No Catherine, we didn't get anything from the storm, not even the rain we so desperately needed.

We were sailing last weekend and Edourd was chasing us in off the bay.  We came in Monday evening and the storm didn't come in until late Tues. So, we were never in any bad weather. In fact, I guess it was the calm before the storm because we had to motor back into port.  Not enough wind to sail.  The bay was slick as glass.  We had fun.  Funny story, we were listening to NOAA  on the VHS radio on the boat.  The voices are computer generated on the weather reports.  They kept calling the storm Ned-Hour.  Wierd huh?  We really laughed when we got home and realized why the computer would pronounce Edourd as Ed hour or something.

Well I have lost my posts twice.  So I give up.  I had commented on everyone's posts, but I lost it.

I have to go to bed.  Will try to catch up this weekend.

Hugs to all, Carynn, Hillary, Leah, Twilah, Melanie, Terry, Catherine, Phyl, Pat, Marsha, Allyson and anyone else I may have missed.  I love you all, Sammie Kay

It was wonderful seeing Twilah on Wednesday and I (finally!) got to meet her dh!  Twilah seemed cheerful, but very tired. She is in a lot less pain than before, which is a big relief. I got the feeling that she thinks about us a lot, but doesn't post that much.  You know that we are always thinking about you, Twilah!

And, I echo Marsha's worries ... Pat, what did the doc say?

Well, we are off Sunday for our final summer vacation week ...  to the Jersey shore!
