I miss the "honeymoon" stage when we all have stars in our eyes! (You can use either word.....I missed being here, so felt I should try to catch up...lol). Thats when our husbands actually listened to us!!

I'm with you 2TA, I've been drawing a blank for two days now. Maybe we need to treat ourselves to something with a good hit of caffeine in it--maybe that will wake up those sleepy brain cells.

This thread sure keeps me on my toes, makes me really think, even when I'm sleepy. But the best part is the GREAT people I get to play with, and make new friends who are always there.

Haven't stopped by in days. Busy, busy, busy lately. DD has finally made her decision about college. She will be attending R.I.T. in Rochester, NY. Their mascot is a Tiger.

Hi Jane... That's great about your daughter! What does she want as a major? I'm sure she made the RIGHT decision for her, how do you feel about her moving away from home? I had a difficult time when DD moved out the day after graduation last year, even though its only about 30 miles away, she was in a hurry to be out from DH and me. She's had a difficult couple of years and is finally understanding that life may not be going the way she wants, but the way it's meant to be, a stressful lesson for her. So glad I get to see her often.

Does RIT stand for Rochester Institute of Technology? I looked up that school and they have a really wide range of programs. Who knew you could get a bachelor's degree in Game Design? You can at RIT. One good thing, going to college in NY she won't be confronted by a big steaming bowl of grits when she goes to the cafeteria for breakfast. Or will she be living off campus rather than in a dorm?

So how close is Rochester to New York City? Will she be making frequent trips to the city to shop? If so, that could be a big STING on the budget.

Oh, shopping is her best subject, LOL. I think it is 6 hours or so to NYC, so not a frequent trip.
She will be using her talents in art and math/science to study Industrial Design.

I feel like we lost some momentum here. So let's see where to start. Let me catch up on what's been going on. For me, almost 4 weeks after exchange I am so happy that this part of the journey is behind me. But then my mood will SWING and I feel an opposite emotion, like ok, so, where do I go from here? Having lost my job and not wanting to go back in that direction I know there's something out there for me. I want some kind of signal or sign to point me towards my next step in life.0 -
Hi girls, I was in Vegas for a few days....got back at 2 am Tues, was sick from exhaustion as me and the girls were out almost all night every night! We were wined and dined! Was fun, and finally started feeling well last night. Now we are leaving in the morning again (Dh and I this time). Hope you can deicde which job you would like to have, and here are some signs and arrows to point you in the right direction...(lol)

Curveball.. Completely understand the easily being tired out. When I first returned to exercise, my favorite one was the stationary bicycle. I would have to set a timer to even reach 10 minutes, but my goals steadily progressed. That is, until I had surgery 4 weeks ago today. PT doesn't want me on my bike, so its only walking for me.

@2TA, I doubt that I'd ever get on a stationary bike if I had one. I have always resisted the idea of exercise. I don't mind walking (or biking) to get from one place to another, but I refuse to walk from one place back to the same place, just for the sake of walking. That would make me feel like a hamster in a wheel, run run run and don't get anywhere, and I think a stationary bike would be worse for me, because it wouldn't even look like I was getting somewhere! I guess I am just mired down in my own bad attitudes. Maybe I should fix my computer so it is pedal-powered. I like going online, so maybe I would ride a stationary bike if that was the only way I could use my computer!

Curveball, if I tied my computer to by bike and run only by pedal power, I would get TIRED of it so fast I would probably smash it to pieces before the end of the first day! You are so much more steadfast than I am!

@2TA, I'm not so steadfast as all that--I did say "naaaahh!" after describing my imaginary exercise incentive. I hate to think how fast I'd have to pedal to make enough electricity to run a computer! The tires on that exercise bike would be smokin' fer sure, even though they don't touch the floor.

Curveball, so I have been unable to get on the stationary bike as my arm/shoulder muscles are still hurting a lot and I don't want to cause greater injury. PT says to hold off on other exercises & stretches till muscles have healed. Walking is recommended but depends on the weather. We've had those sizzling days lately, other days I try to walk around the neighborhood, I cut through a park and we have gentle hills so thats good exercise. Have been noticing it must be the start of flea season as I have lots of BITES around my ankles.

Yeah, I got stuck again. Also I'm working on moving everything from my storage unit into the garage at my new house. Last week I took two loads of boxes, plus my ten-speed. But that latter I had to take to a shop where they fix bikes for a good servicing. It had been in storage for a year and standing in the garage mainly unused for years before that. But I got an email from the shop today and it's ready to go. Next trip I'll go pick it up.

Curveball... Congrats on the new house! Hoping you have lots of happy times there and get to settle in quickly. Having the bike will be a great opportunity to check out the new neighbor. My DD BAKES a lot, I wish I could get her to make you a cake which reads: Welcome to Your New Home!

Curveball.... Hoping you have lots of boxes for the move. It would be very tiring and cumbersome if you only had plastic grocery SACKS to put your items in to move.

Heheheh, I am not in the house yet, just my stuff. I am waiting for the contractor to send back a revised bid. Thenk I hope the work can start very soon and I will be able to live in the house (although eating from freezer and microwave at first) no later than the end of June. Just about all my stuff is in boxes already 2TA. It has been sitting in a storage unit for the last year and I am moving it from there to the garage of the new place. I really think boxes are the way to go for moving, even if the items are going straight from one house to another. Anyone who packs household goods in a grocery bag should expect a lot of breakage!

I always say packing is easier than unpacking. Everything you pack has to go in a box, everything you unpack has to find the perfect new home...much harder.0 -
In my case, since the new place is smaller than my old home, probably anything that I can't find a "just right" spot for will go straight to the Goodwill. If I try to fit 1100 square feet worth of stuff into a 750 square foot house, I'll go stark raving mad!
