Oh, I know Jane, if our appts or my parents appts or my DD's appts (so I can babysit) don't get on OUR calendar, then they may get missed! Sometimes I feel like I need a brick on the calendar though, so I will make sure to look at it every day...lol.

Wahine, you are a good person to be taking care of so many others when they need you. Are your grandbabies still in cribs or are they bigger?

LOL Jane, when I wrote "babysit" I wished I had a better word...I can just hear their "cries" if they knew I refered to them as "babies"! Those two are 8 and 11, and my other 3 (in TX) are 15,13, and 12.

hey wahine, do your grandchildren in Texas live in one of the cities, or out in the country where they have many acres of land to roam over and maybe ride horses?

Yeah, they are out in the country, small town area....they have lots of land, so could even make funny faces at each other since neighbors are far enough away. (They participate in marathons and their daddy does triathlons, so I was going to say they do "races" but then I would have been using the exact same letters and we're supposed to change one letter)

My goodness! Step away from the computer for a couple hours and there's so much to catch up on! Great jobs, ladies!

Wahine, you paint such a great picture of the area your GC's grow up in! So much better than the city.

Am tired tonight, lots of driving today to my parents to help prep for their move. About an hour out while I was driving on the freeway, my PS's sweet nurse called to inform me that my EKG from Monday was different from last October and I need to get it checked out and okay'ed before I can have surgery next week. Said it's probably nothing (haven't we heard that before?) and but let's be perfectly sure. So, I have an appointment with the cardiologist 1st thing Monday morning. I refuse to let this disturb my inner peace but there are so many facts to be considered.

Oh no, I hate hearing that. And of course our faces will have brave, stoic looks, even though we can be full of fear and uncertainity. Glad you have an appt asap, just to make sure everything is OK. Sure didn't need that to worry about, with all you are doing right now. I'll be praying for everything to be ok, and that you will get a lot of work done at your parents...that will also help keep your mind busy. (((Maddy)))

Thanks Wahine! Stress, who me?? Am blaming everything on Anastrozole (I call it Nasty).  Bad hot flashes, heart races, sleepless nights, huge weight gain, even makes me want to raid the fridge at night (I've never done that before).  So glad MO took me off it (at least for a while). So, it would probably be best to give this up for the night and get some sleep! Plan to go on a long walk in the morning, too tired tonight. Night all!

Hope you get that walk in this am, 2ta! Sometimes its hard to trace what is causing all the SE's. Hope you can stay off that "nasty" drug if that was the culprit. I finally slept last night...yay! Melatonin always helps, but lately I just wake up too darn early. Have a good day everyone!

Good morning everyone! I hope you get your walk in 2TA. I'm being so lazy since I retired last month. It's nearly 10 AM and I am just about to go eat breakfast. Oh, and I need to give the cat her medicine and see if she behaved herself, or acted up again last night. She has been wetting outside the box, naughty girl. I thought it was caused by a wonky thyroid level but the medicine has that under control now and she's still doing it. I finally thought to put a second litter box where she was marking and she used it the first two nights it was there. Now to sloooooowly slide the two boxes closer together.....

I better put a dozen boxes all over the house when I get both cats at the new place!

Thanks Wahine and Curveball.. Slept in a bit this morning, wasn't focused and started in on my mom's closet (Dad said she had 3 pairs of jeans, can only find 1 so that's my mission). By then, way too hot to walk - in the 90's already! They're predicting around 115 tomorrow and Saturday.

I understand and feel your pain about the cats. They're so funny (and not in a good way). Had 2 cats when I married, DH had 2 as well. They justed hated one another! Fur flying at all hours. Much as I disliked, I had to find a home for mine (they were young, found a great home, his were old and need more of our care).

SHIT day (So Happy It's Thursday)!

@2TA, thanks for reminding me why I moved to Washington in the first place--triple digit temperatures are way too hot for me! I was in Northern California and I don't remember it getting that hot in June, but it seemed like there were always a few days toward the end of summer when the temperature skyrockedted. Naturally, that was the few days we had to go register for our classes for the new school year, in a gym with hundreds of other students and no air conditioning. There was a big expansion of the bus system in those years, but the buses had sealed windows and of course, running in those temperatures with the air conditioning running full blast, they would overheat by the dozens. Eventually the order would go out to turn off the AC, and boy, you haven't been stifled until you have ridden in a bus, standing room only (because two or three buses prior to the one you were on broke down from the heat), on a scorching hot day with no windows and no AC!

But enough of my ranting. I'm sure you will find the jeans eventually. It's no use trying to hurry, especially in the weather you're having now. Remember that old proverb: "more haste, less speed". Take it slow & steady and eventually you'll finish the job without frying your brains.

And no tears if the jeans don't show up, ok? They are lucky you are there to help them....I worked a month on getting my parents packed up to move from HI last July and it was hot then (not as hot as SinCity though), and no a/c. Hot, stifling bus does not sound fun, Curve! We have had very hot packed buses in Costa Rica and it was not only hard to breathe, but you almost didn't want to breathe as it seemed a lot of them had not bathed!

Even if they bathed in Costa Rica, don't think they used deodorant! Where in Costa Rica did you go, Wahine?

Didn't get much done, they were only gone an hour, found 1 pair of jeans (and lots of other missing stuff). One month cleaning? Hope they appreciated you, that's a whole lot of work! Maybe you got to take frequent breaks to enjoy the scenery?

Sin City, you say? Place of fun and stars? "Bet" you can find Dan the Dealer there ('scuze the pun, tee-hee)

If we all go to Vegas, I think it would be smart for us to take a personal a/c system we can walk around with! Temps so HIGH there this week....yikes!

Aaaarrrggghhhhhh been on hold w/ Delta for over 30 min already...I forgot to link our tix and DH has to pay for luggage if I can't get them linked (we have diff res numbers). I know I suggested it, but the temperature is going to have to go down by about half if you want me to come. I'd much rather be in a temperature of 50 than 100, even in the summer time. Besides, there are casinos in Washington State too. If I'm looking to enjoy a stage show or a game of cards, I can find one without going so far away. I hope you've got the luggage situation straightened out now wahine.

So, what's on tap for the trip? Shows, Black Jack, Roulette, slots, craps, or just drinking and people watching? Whatever it is, it will have to be indoors....

Wahine, have you gotten the ticket situation corrected?

Oh yea, definately shows, food (esp seafood buffet with crabs), blackjack, slots, drinking, people watchin, and just having fun!!!!! Can't pre check-in since we are traveling together, have to check in at airport....that way he gets a free bag too. Hardly any sleep last night....verrrrry tired. Hope I get to see you! Definitely indoors! It's so hot there, even if I came I'd probably just crash in the hotel room. If it cools off enough at night you might convince me to go for a swim in the evening. I remember when I was a kid, my whole family went to the 1964 World's Fair in New York City. My dad got off the plane in Detroit, picked up a new car at the factory, drove it to NYC and back & forth to the fair, and then all the way back home to the west coast. We went to Niagara Falls, and Chicago and Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park and the Mormon Tabernacle in SLC (which was brand new then and still possible to be toured by non-LDS). I think it was in Las Vegas we all went down to the pool after dinner and the water was so hot from the sun it almost felt like we were swimming in a bathtub. Talk about "see the USA in a Chevrolet"....except it was a Dodge!

Curveball, sounds like the way I was raised - travel by car (Ford or Dodge), even up tent trailers, even a "real" trailer (no luxuries or A/C back then). Went to 63/64 NY World's Fair too acouple times (we lived in NY, in the 'burbs). Amazing how many exhibits wound up at Disneyland (near where I live now).

Wahine, are you in Vegas yet? Glad you got it all resolved, even a free check-in -woo-hoo,  start of a jack-pot! Hoping they don't trash your bag because it's free. Be prepared for a scorcher - saying it'll be 117 today so I'm planning on working indoors and not leaving mom and dad's house (unless it's for dinner). We're making progress - lots of empty space. Even my dad is noticing how much is "disappearing" (either for donation or boxed, little trash).

    Happy Friday ladies!

Looks like it is hot all over. Even here in the NW it's almost 90 degrees. Tomorrow I'm helping my mom pack up my late dad's books for donation to friends of the library. I went to my new place today and signed with the contractor, so that work will be starting the beginning of the week after Independence Day (woohooo!!!) and on the way back picked up a bunch of empty boxes at liquor stores. When I got home the driveway was blocked by a guy my mom hired to do some pressure washing. He just finished, so I went out to move the car into the garage and bring the boxes into the house. I was only out for a few minutes but by the time I came back in my shirt was sticking to me and I had to get an iced drink to cool myself off.

OMG we got here....yay.... but its so hot it hurts!  DH talked them into giving us a room on the 36th fl of NYNY...there are only THREE rooms on this floor...guess cause it gets narrower at the top. NIce to get it all free too. Beautiful, large room, even has icemaker in the room, but when he said just 3 rms on this floor I expected us to have a HUMONGOUS room like a penthouse suite. I'll try to contact you 2TA to see what your plans are, or just to hear your voice! My DH is napping, then prolly go to eat then a show or sumtin.

Your childhood trips sound like such fun, Curve and 2TA....we went to the beach for weekends and a lot during summer, but it was about an hour+drive....can't go toooo far on an island!

Curveball, now that's hot! So is the idea that your new home is coming along nicely! Getting excited for you! What's the scheduled move-in date?

Wahine, WOW, that sounds fantastic! And especially on short notice too! You're so lucky to have such posh accomodations and for FREE! That makes dealing with the heat totally worth while. I'm just finishing cleaning and packing for the day (except for the 2 loads of laundry going and waiting for my parents to go to sleep so I can move boxes around, it unsettles Mom to see me doing that). Would love to meet you too, if possible.

@2TA, I don't have a scheduled move-in date yet. The work will start the week after the holiday, and as soon as the bathroom is finished I'll be able to stay in the back bedroom while they do the rest of the house. I'm already stocking up the freezer with things to eat, and I need to get a microwave and a big box of paper plates to eat off of while I don't have a kitchen.

As to the weather, it's hot here but nothing like Las Vegas. Still under 90 today I think and the weatherman doesn't think we're going to break the record this time around. I'm just a heat-wimp! If I just can't stand the heat any more I can always go down to the shore and cool off in the ocean breeze.

Curve, well that's a great start to moving in - even if it means paper plates. Progress! It was a scorcher today, stayed indoors mostly except for an afternoon trip for errands and dinner out with my parents. Luckily, we stayed away from the buffets, opted for Souplantation instead. At this rate will never fit into my new swim suit. If I can get into it, can I join you at the shore and share a pitcher of ice cold margaritas?
