I like Amber too. Hoping it's not rude, but that girl can move! Corbin is good, but since he's had dance experience I'm routing for Amber. Pleasantly surprised to see Jack get this far, but I think some of his true competition has already been eliminated. Bill is fun to watch, but it's time for time to sit.

Saw Leah on a talk show yesterday (The View.), saying she's had a broken rib for a while. Interesting.

A special thank you to those not on the west coast for not spilling the beans, hoping that's not selfish.

LOL yes I agree the hair on Kelly is pretty strange. But at least that's something that can be changed when she realizes how bad it looks! LOL

The word I use to describe the season over and over again is "lackluster". No pizzazz. No excitement. Watching the finals and it's blah. Bill Engval shouldn't even be there. Jack is too pudgy for my liking. I have no interest in watching him, and he's not that good. Corbin....well, that first outfit with him wearing a sort of old fashioned newspaper boy costume looked entirely too dorky to me. Getting ready for Amber to dance. We'll see how that goes. But this season: no Zendaya, no Kelli, no hot young guy with moves to keep us tuned in.

The shining spot of the night so far for me is Carrie Anne's dress, I think she looks great this evening.

*Although the judges loved it, I was not crazy about Amber's first dance.

    * Apparently the very lowest score one can get is an 8.

    * loved Corbin's second dance, watching Jack's second at the moment....

OK, we promised not to reveal the results, so won't say anything else now other than I really liked Amber's second dance.

I absolutely loved Amber and Derek's freestyle, and thought Jack and Cheryl did a fine job, but all my votes tonight were for Amber and Derek.

I was happy to see Jack do so well tonight.  It was refreshing to see Derek admit to being unable to do something.  I have gotten rather tired of his cocksure attitude and his apparent belief that the rules don't apply to him.  I like Amber and have often wished she had been paired with one of the other top male stars.

Amber and Derek freestyle was amazing. I thought jack and Cheryl"s second was pretty darn good and a bit unexpected. I thought he did really well. Corbin was kinda meh for me.

I did enjoy the freestyles, to my surprise. Loved the Indian Jones theme for Bill, and that Emma went all out since it was her first finals dance. She was the best thing to come out of this season.

I loved Jack & Cheryl's dance. It was entertaining with a variety of dancing.

Corbin's was okay, but I am also meh on the Michael Jackson moves, it's not original so I take of points for that.

Amber's freedance dance, to me, was also meh. It seemed like the hand movements were to take it easy on her knees, so she can rest up tonight and pull out all the stops for the grand finale. I remember I liked her first dance, but can't really remember what it was right now!

Who saw Wayne Newton and some blonde beside him in the audience? Talk about a Twilight Zone episode! With all the plastic surgery, they looked spooky, faces pulled so tight they looked not human!

I think it might be Amber's to win it!

I thought Bill's Indiana Jones was fun, but am glad he is finally gone. Liked all the free-style dances.....I am sad to say that I don't have strong feelings about who I want to win. I voted 2 each for Amber & Corbin & 1 vote for Jack....so, as the kids say, "Whatever."

I feel about the same way, Ruth. No surprise.

It was nice seeing some of the previous contestants. Valerie Harper looked lovely. Elizabeth had on a dress similar in color to Brooke's and it seemed to make Brooke look a bit old in comparison.

I thought taking two hours for the finale was a bit tedious. A ho-hum season.

I thought the scoring was wacky all season too. They did hold people to the same standards. I thought they generally scored the good dancers lower than they deserved, and the bad dancers higher than they deserved too.

Yeah for Amber, her final dance was to one of my all time favourite songs Jackie Wilson's Higher and Higher. I know people thought the season was blah but I thoroughly enjoyed it and appreciate the hard work and dedication of all the dancers.

Definitely the scoring was all over the place this season. Plus it confused me. When I voted, was it counted for that day or for the following week? I really didn't understand.

Well at least Amber appreciated winning. She seems so nice. There's always someone from Glee in the audience to watch. I didn't think Jack deserved to win but his last dances were pretty good. And Corbin wasn't as good in his last dances. Maybe he knew how things were going and gave up. But the show was bloated and way too long.

I am OK with Amber winning. I did think, though, that the judges were awfully critical of Corbin all throughout. Really, were his and Jack's dancing on the same level? I think  not. They actually need to give poorer dancing poorer scores. If 8 is a low as they give, there is not much wiggle room. I was reading some of the comments on DWS Facebook page & one person said they should rename the show 'Dancing With Derek' as he always seems to get someone with the potential to win. Interesting.....

The judging is so subjective. Amber's last few dances had a lot of hand movements, yet if another dancer had done that, the judges might easily have said, "it was fun to watch, but I wanted to see more dance moves." I think the judges are told ahead of time who to praise. I think the producers gather the feedback from viewers and fill the judges in accordingly. I'm most certain their was a lot of negative comments about Corbin having a dance background. Therefore, the show's producers didn't really want him to win, because there'd be a backlash.

    Mark your calendars, ladies:

"New year, new “Dancing With The Stars.” That seemed to be ABC’s motto while planning for season 18 of the beloved dancing competition. According to reports, there will be a lot of changes in upcoming series that will be making its debut on Monday, March 17. From fresh new dancers to innovative music, rumor has it that season 18 of “DWTS” is the reality show to watch of 2014.

First and foremost, there has been much speculation over what celebs will be lacing up their dancing shoes—starting with Bruce Jenner. Could the Olympic athlete be following in the footsteps of Rob and Kim Kardashian? US Weekly insisted that Jenner is “dying” to compete in “DWTS.” And due to his athletic background, we could definitely picture the “Keeping up with the Kardashian” star wiping the dance floor with his hypothetical competition.

But that’s not all the “DWTS” news we have! Entertainment Weekly reported that in addition to a new cast will be a new band to serenade the dancers with their exciting music. "Our talented Music Director, Harold Wheeler, will not be joining us for season 18 of Dancing with the Stars,” an official statement from ABC and BCC Worldwide read. “Since season one, Harold and his band have performed brilliant music in our ballroom for our dancers and the American viewers at home. We are grateful to him and his band for their amazing work and years of collaboration. We wish him the best of luck."

Although ABC neglected to announce the new musicians who will be making our toes tap for the next several Mondays, they did reveal that “live music will still very much be a part of the show.”

First, Ruth, love your new avatar!

Secondly, wow, the news sounds exciting. 'Reality show to watch in 2014'..... I sure hope the show lives up to the hype as I know a lot of us weren't too keen on last season with all its changes.

I actually think Bruce Jenner might do well as he has the mindset/mentality of an athlete.

Sorry to hear Harold Wheeler is leaving, he was so good.

So, March 17 is less than a month away...thanks for posting the latest news, Ruth!

Ruth, thanks for the info. The only thing I heard about was Harold Wheeler leaving. Wonder who the replacement will be.  Surprised with only a month to go that there haven't been more teaser commercials. Hoping I can score some tickets this season

OK, here is some more interesting news....note the last paragraph!

"Dancing With the Stars has gone through major changes in the past year, but one thing has always remained constant: Celebs will (attempt to) dance, with the help of their amazing pro partners, and we’ll vote for our favorites to win.

Unless still another twist emerges, that will be the case again for DWTS Season 18, which starts on St. Patrick’s Day, Monday, March 17.

ABC just announced that the new cast will be revealed Tuesday, March 4 on Good Morning America. It was previously revealed that there will be 12 pairs, just like Season 17.

Usually co-hosts Tom Bergeron andBrooke Burke-Charvet announce the new cast together, but the latest change is Brooke’s own shocking pre-season elimination. We’re down to one host, plus a new band. DWTS is tightening ship, which isn’t too surprising after ABC already made the drastic move to cut the Results Show."

WOW thanks for the news Ruth.  I hope Tom Bergeron stays, love him.  Fun to see him much younger on reruns of America's Funniest Videos.

I think Jay Leno's band is available. They didn't go with Jimmy Fallon. Unless Leno travels with a band or pieces to his gigs. Think they can handle show tunes?

I am joining your group if there is room?  I love DWTS.  Will start mid way through my radiation treatment and will be a very welcome distraction.  Shocked to hear about the changes as they have been with the show for so long.  Wonder why now?  I did not originally like Brooke as co-host, but she really grew on me and now she will be leaving.  Odd.
