Dancing with the Stars

Ha, ha, ruth, yes, what a fake-out! Fair enough.
Here's my "recap" of the evening:
Brooke's dress: hideous! Was she wearing a dress fashioned from a shroud, draperies or what? lol
Peta's black zig zaggy costume: yow-za!
Leah looked like she forgot to take off her black dressing gown before her dance number with Tony, and her shoes were clunky. Not sure why they dressed her like that. Oh, but she's gonna get points for being JLo's bff! lol, even the judges kissed up to that one. Lol.
Bill's routine was cute, Cheeseburgers in Paradise. I think his professional, Emma, is a keeper. Some new professionals just don't have the right mix of personality and teaching skills; she does.
I was glad Elizabeth Berkley finally addressed the "Showgirls" movie she did after Saved By the Bell. If you don't know it, just google it. Anyway, it was brave of her to speak out about it and how it made her feel rather than act like it never happened. So she gets extra points in my book for it.
Not overly impressed with any particular dance tonight, but it was fun to watch.0 -
Lots of fun, good high energy dancing, but nobody really stood out to me either. I had a hard time keeping track of the dancers during the dance-off due to the bad camera angles.

somtimes I dont really understand Len. Amber sure gives it her all. Len keeps penalizing her for Dereks coreo. And Brooks dress was so um weird. But it usually is at least as weird as her questions! LOL Elizabeth was pretty good. And I did think Leah improved. But that ugly rag. I really thought it was one they were going to tear off. Was I surprised to see it stay in one piece all the way through!0 -
ok forgot yo say one more thing. Corbin dance was NOT a Vieneisse (sp?) Waltz. Fun and cool but not a waltz. And here I agree with len. Not a single moment in ballroom hold. But I liked it.0 -
huh well what was that, hope they never bring that back, bleahhhhhhh
To me it sure looks like Len really has it in for Derek. Leahs outfit was horrible and it looked like she had Zumba shoes on, and yes I too kept waiting for it to get ripped off, as for Brooks outfit, well I'll just say as little as possible, and I'll add my voice to the "nobody stood out" category.0 -
I just can't get into Dancing with the Stars this year.0 -
It sure was a strange night,......... my mom taught me that if I couldn't say something nice, then not to say anything at all. I'm saying nothing~0 -
Here are some problems I see: the rushed format makes it hard to really 'get to know' the contestants and be invested in them and the weird voting, where the viewers scores reflect the dances of the week before, messes up the outcomes. Also, there really haven't been any dance routines that have blown me away.....

I never watch it live. That way I can just watch the dances and not bother with the practice interviews. Oh yeah and no commerials, that is, if I remember I am watching a recording! LOL0 -
ruth, what you say makes sense.
I read that at some point there will be a double elimination, since they didn't send anyone home the other night, but they aren't saying exactly which week it will be.
One more person's appearance I meant to comment on: Kelly Osbourne, in the audience to see Jack. What is with her? That purple hair has been ghastly ever since she started wearing it, and more and more, she's looking like a throw back to the 50s with I Love Lucy style clothing. For awhile, after her stint on DWTS, she lost weight and had a more glamorous look that suited her, but now she's just looking odd to me. I don't understand it.0 -
Just a few thoughts: I like that they don't continue to draw it out over 2 days and prefer the 1-day a week format, but they still need to tweak out the format. Too long at times, too rushed at others. Is it just me or does it seem like the judges and contestants are more "all over the place?" Doesn't feel like much consistency. Len seems really distracted.
Off the subject, does anyone know who the man is who has full facial hair and is always seen around the Osbournes? Last week he was sitting just behind Kelly. Only asking because he seems familiar but can't place him; they fussed a bit over him a bit off-camera during the taping I was at and I see him every show now. It's bugging me.
Thanks0 -
2nd time - DH was a great fan of the Osbourne show. I'll see if I can find anything online to show him or tape next week's show. I do remember that Ozzy had what DH called a "keeper" and the blonde lady that sits with Sharon reminds me of her though I don't think I saw her this week. But then I don't think I saw Ozzy either. Looked at Sharon's Wikipedia site - didn't realize there is a 3rd child - daughter Aimee.
Yes, they just have to have a double elimination to keep up the correct TV schedule. Hummm - wonder when and how THAT will work.0 -
thanks luv! I knew about Aimee (I think they made some reference to her on their reality show years ago) but have no idea what she looks like. The guy in question isn't very tall or super slim (stocky maybe?) but the full facial hair is a standout. Just bugs me0 -
Aimee declined to be part of the show so they never showed her on The Osburnes. I just deleted the show so I couldnt look at who that was.0 -
for those of you who record, would you please leave it a day (or two)? We're 3 hours behind east coast time so I'd appreciate some help figuring out who he is. Thanks!0 -
Seriously??????????????????
0 -
I agree, Ruth!!!!!0 -
first, thanks to all you East Coast, Central and Mountain time zones ladies not giving away the ending
Next, the man whose name I'm trying to figure out: again, full facial hair, wore a dark pullover sweater over a white dress shirt. When Brooke interviews Sharon Osbourne he's all the way to the left of the screen (about 43 minutes into the show). Thanks!0 -
Maddy I'm watching now I saw him, I have it on my 'Hopper' I'll go back maybe tomorrow and look and see if I can work it out, never thought I'd say this, I thought Leah did great0 -
thanks Cheryl, I have it on DVR. I agree that Leah did surprisingly well. Glad we weren't standing in line in today's weather for DWTS0 -
no kidding, it poured here and then sunshine but brrrr thought I might have to put the heat on0 -
earlier this afternoon I needed to run an errand, bright sunshine while it was raining lightly. Very strange0 -
the second group dance - how odd0 -
I thought both group dances were pretty good and a lot of fun.0 -
Huh? What was that?0 -
I thought all of last night's dances were very solid, all the celebrities gave a good performance and I found the whole show entertaining. For me, Corbin was a notch above the rest, I was impressed with his routines.
Yes, Leah danced well and her costume style and color was perfectly suited to her body and the Samba. I totally loved both group dances.
It appears that Brooke has more chit-chat with the contestants as they eliminate more of them.
The one thing that still throws me off, and this sounds silly, but it's that the judges table is now on the right and Carri Anne and Bruno's places are switched. That, in turn, has the celebrity and professional on the left side of my TV screen as they get results, and I still haven't got used to it. I am also about tired of Carri Anne having things break or drop or fall when she gets excited. It's as if she's still not used to the rearrangement of the judges' table, either. I think I liked when she was farther from Tom and Bruno was closer to him.
Anyway, that part is nitpicking, I really did like the entire show last night and at this point hate to see anyone have to leave.0 -
I was a little shocked but throughout this season between the dances, when they showed the 'glitter pit', her body language and facial expressions (bored) gave me the impression that she really didn't want to be there and she didn't seem to cheer on the others as they finished their dances.0 -
Can we talk about results? I was dissapointed in who went home. I thought she was a little firecracker in that group number doing all those lifts, jumps and flips, etc. She's stronger and a better dance than the other that was in eliminate mode last night. Just my opinion. He must have more fans who vote for him. I mean he's fun and everything, but I just thought Niki or Nicole was the better dancer.0 -
I agree about Nicole, I thought she was terrific in just about every dance she did but I will say that last night her tiredness did show a little at the start of her dance but she came good and yes I'm disappointed that she's gone, all that traveling back and forth across the country does take a toll on your body but I understand her wanting to be east with her baby. I loved both of the group dances and watched them both more than once and it's hard to pick a favourite but Corbin and Amber both 'bring it' every week for me. Where in the heck did Brooke get that dress, it looked like one of the naked lace wedding dresses from 'Say yes to the dress' but only in black And yes I believe Bill has a huge fan base that vote, and I know a lot of people watch and don't vote.
Okay Maddy here is my take on 'the guy' I think it's Jacks father-in-law, if you look at the row it was Sharon and Ozzy, then his wife then the woman next to her looked so much like her it has to be her mother, so it would make sense it's her Dad, that's my take after watching it in slo mo about 15 times0 -
I was disappointed at Snooki leaving, I did enjoy her routines. I would have preferred Peta's partner going home, I don't know him, never heard of him, and don't think he gives that great of a performance yet is scored high by the judges. But who's voting for him? I guess a few more people than are voting for Snooki. But I'd like to see him go next.0
