Hi Barbe.  Thanks for the warning. I've done so much reading the past couple of days that I know the estriol poses the same risks as any other estrogen product.  I would rather a doc. order estrogen level and 2:16 ratio tests and Rx an estrogen vaginal cream to resolve this issue.  And then retest in a couple of months.  I just don't think my docs are going to help me.  I am so ready to start a more penetrating relationship with my DH again. And, well, he's never not been ready.  I just don't see any other way except a little local estrogen for a while.  Even tho I don't want to, if I have to do it myself I will.  At the same time, I don't want to take any unnecessary risks if the stuff doesn't even work.

I won't do it without the blood tests either Firni. But the more I read, the safer it sounds.

Ok Ladies, here's what I found out at my PCP appt. today.  He of course didn't want to do any estrogen products without checking with onc.  I told him onc would say no according to his PA.  So PCP calls him on the spot and had quite a lengthy discussion about quality of life, treating the whole patient, etc.  So, Onc said yes IF I try a silicone lubricant called Pink first.  He said I could find in any any sex store.  Not.  I went on line and the cheapest place I found it (in various size containers) was at cheaplubes.com.  Onc said it has to be the silicone based and not the water based.  Pink comes in both. He said a patient told him about it and it worked really well for her.  I ordered and it should be here for the weekend.  I'll let you all know how it works as far as atrophy and tearing is concerned.

Kind of sad you have to go to a "adult toy" store for something so basic! Hope you have a good weekend Wink

Barbe, you know what's worse?  My onc knew right where one is located.

I'm still laughing that there is a site called cheap lubes.  Wonder how many people come across it looking to get their car worked on.  Barbe you know I love your sense of humor.

Firni, happy your PCP went to bat for quality of life for you.

Barbe1958  I am so sorry that you are suffering with this kidkney stone. Isn't there some way they can break it up so that it can pass? It's unfair for you to have to go through this.

(I waited 3 months to see a specialist, then they bumped it another month. I finally saw him and he wanted a second ultrasound (2 months later!) then followup. If I was a man, I bet he would have had it out by now. I am on 24/7 pain meds! He did say he would have had me in surgery based on my first ultrasound except my CT scan didn't think it was that big! So take it out anyway! I liken it to looking at a can of Coke. If you look from above, it looks smaller than if you look at it from the side.)

I still think an afternoon of gently rolling around in the sheets with my DH and a lot of petting going on would be a wonderful therapy! Unfortunately, my DH just "isn't that into me" anymore...sigh. (brain tumors) So I take my physical contact when and where I can. I have him put lotion on my scars and have him rub my back and feet. At least I get some human touch! Cry

Way to go Barbe1958. You are a strong lady. But if you have to push that doc then do it. No one seems to do anything for us unless we ask and ask and ask.

Barbe, it sounds like you need to scream, yell, pi$$, moan, complain and cry to get anything done with this stone.  Don't they think it would have been easier to treat 6 months ago?  Damn doctors. No one should have to wait 3 months to see a specialist.  It's insane that you have deal with this neglect on top of everything else.   Maybe you can talk DH into a nice front and back body rub.

Well gals, thought you might like to know that Mena, the author of this thread, may be leaving the hospital soon.  She has been very sick for the past two weeks with a blood infection, breathing problems, heart issues, but she is putting up a terrific fight.  She will be going home with oxygen and in-home care and she is desperately hoping to be well enough this summer to take a trip to the Bahamas.  She is so proud of you all for keeping this going; she thinks of this thread as her legacy.

When she is ready, I hope we will see Mena back. In the meantime, she should be proud of her legacy.

Mena should be proud.  Where else could we go?  I know many people have found solutions here to problems we probably wouldn't even discuss with our best friends.  I'm glad she's going home and my prayers that she gets to take her trip this summer!
