Good Morning Beach Bums...
Charlene...that sunrise was georgeous!!! Made my day, especially after looking at all the gray sky & wet snow out my window!
Iris...love your posts too. You know, skiing by moonlight isn't all that different from walking by moonlight. When the paths are wide and you have enough light to see shadows, you can do pretty well.
BTW gals...a secret. Skiing is actually HOT!!! You are using so much energy that you have to dress very light so as not to get too warm!!
Amy & Neesie...hope you are feeling better soon....
Don't have any more outdoorwild life pix this AM, but I do have a picture of some indoor wild things whose natural habitat is a house...
This is little Marissa, my baby cat...a permanent kitten. Her adult weight is under 7 pounds...I worry about her outside!!!!
Jasmine...Where are YOU!??? Is it time to send out a search party?!!
Miz
PS. Picture Hint: The two biggest problems in not getting a picture to post are (1) not pressing "insert" before you leave the pic window, and (2) mispelling or using an incomplete URL.

Good morning beach buds
Well the real weather is gray and dreary .. rainy and 53 here. 53!!! Tomorrow it's going back down to 34. No wonder I can't shake this cold and aches! Ahhhh, I really need this beach today.
Iris, I agree with Margo, sometimes your posts refresh my mind on something I've wanted to ask about! You have such a great memory. Love your President's Day pic.
Margo, You keep beating me in the morning and you're 3 hours behind me! You are an early riser.
Miz, Cute cats. How many do you have? I've heard that about skiing but isn't it cold at first? What if you fall? I can't deal with the cold even one bit!
Jasmine, Darn I wish you had checked in by now. Are you still taking care of your neighbor?

Charlene, I know how you feel. Before I discovered skiing the only way I could enjoy being outdoors in winter was in a big fur coat. Another reason I like winter--now that I'm a home owner with a large yard--is that I don't have to do yardwork!!! There is so much darn yardwork here; we have neighbors that seem to put about 4 hours a day into their yards when things are growing (I don't and I sometime get hints from them that I could do a little more!)..in the winter you can relax. A neighbor clears the driveway for free (got a new snowblower for Christmas) and we just make people use the side door so we don't have to shovel!!!
Boy, this BC server is acting wierd today....keeps on hangin up!

Hey there all you beach bums!
Neesie and Char, thanks for the kind words about my DH. I think he's easy on the eyes too, lol! I not super romantic either, so it's not terrible. Flowers every once in a while is nice too, though.
Miz, I'm in PA. I love your cat pics.
Junie, we also have a lot of deer where we live. We have feral cats that live in the woods, and every so often, we see them out with the deer. It is hysterical! The deer put their noses down real low and follow the cats around!

ok whoever has heard shingles are bad I believe them. This is the worse pain I have ever experienced in my life and I have a high threshold to pain. Pain pills does not even touch it.
here is a picture of Sputnik looking for trouble.
I am at home today so maybe I will get to the barn and take some more pictures but right now I doubt it.

Another fly by for now...................I will definitely be laying on the warm beach letting those Cabana Boys refresh my Palate!
Oh Amy: I'm so sorry for you...........there should be a law somewhere that 'enough is enough.' I do hope you can take some time off of work and feel better.
Iris: I so enjoy your recaps............very nice reading!
Candie: Sometimes I can and Sometimes I can't................post pictures!
Jan: You're welcome...................I agree, occassional flowers are still nice!
Charlene: Move over lady..........I'm going to be laying next to you...........and I'll keep your secret! Shhhhhh!
I'll be back a bit later unless the DH takes over the computer!
Spent my day back at a different doctor. It is ashame that my supervisor doesn't know anything about Workers Comp and sent me to the wrong Doctor on Saturday! With this many employees, I'm sure they have faced this before..................but I haven't and am clueless.
I'll probably be off work for the week and start PT on Thursday. Fun times ahead.............blah.
Hugs,
Neesie

Amy. I had a case of shingles last summer, right after I'd finished my radiation treatment. I thought that it was poison ivy, so I just left it alone, by the time I figured out that it was shingles, it was too late for the medication to be of any use. My GP says that having had them once, I'll be more likely to have them again, that they often 'flair' up with stress. She told me that I could call her office from the road, if I ever felt the first flush of 'tingling' and that they'd call in the prescription no matter where I was. (Something to keep in mind for the future.) I think my case was relatively mild, from hearing the stories of others -- and mine were mostly gone in a couple of weeks, or at least bearable by that time.
Will keep you posted about the Egg rolling. No news yet. My presentation today (Houston) was a delightful success. Iris, I travel the countryside these days, sharing my 6 albums of children's songs -- and the one song I turned into a book, by quilting the illustrations from bright, contemporary fabrics. So now I'm officially an "author/illustrator" too! What great work to be able to share with others working with children.
Love the newest beach photos. Have not attempted to post mine. May get brave and see if I can follow the instructions: LOL.
Roll over, all of you that have been lolly-gagging here since sunrise.

Amy,
Very sorry to hear about your shingles. Is this your first outbreak? I've read that you may just get one attack and never get another one as long as your immune system isn't stress.
We shall pray for a quick recovery!
Miz

yes this is my first outbreak but my immune system is not very good due to the chemo that I have been on forever. He wants to see me tomorrow again to reevaluate cause he was hoping for faster improvement. Man they are awful.

Its nice you all can joke, I so wish Icould. I am sitting here in tears, wishiing life was different. Life is difficult for me, I wish Sprite were here, longing for someone to talk to. It is so hard, starting again, i worked so hard and now I need help and am alone and need the support. I worked through breast cancer and now here i am alone, a husband that doesn't give a damn and me with my kids alone. I would love to have some stability, that something I worked so hard to get and now I get to start again. This wasn't the plan. 42 and starting again, I know it can be done and I can do it but damn...its not fair. I sit here and cry and know others are worse off but still hurt....I don't know what I am looking for but here I am.... people breathing over my shoulder and anxious...help...

Ginger glad to see that you stopped by and if there is anything I can do to help please let me know. Lifes not fair and we all know that but we dont have to like it. You have found a great supportive thread here and we can be here during this difficult time for you.

Iodine: Perfect time to go to the beach for real is in Feb/March!
Janny: I love that picture ... look at those blue colors and white sand. So pretty. Wish that were me sitting there!
Neesie: I hope the PT helps you out .. doesn't sound fun!
Faith: Albums and a children's book? Wow! What age are they geared for? I have a 2 year old and a 9 year old .. would love to check them out. Will you tell us the titles or PM me?
Amy: Sputnik is too cute for words! I'm so sorry for your shingles pain. Glad you stayed home from work and better yet that you're going back in tomorrow to see the doctor.
MB: Having an umbrella drink with you! Nice as always to see your warm smile. Hugs.
Ginger: Amy said it very well but I want to second her comments. Anything we can do for you just let us know. We do like to relax and have fun but we are all about supporting one another.
My body doesn't handle the temperature changes very well and going from cold to 60's down to 20's is giving me major muscle spasms, kinks and knots in my back and neck. Sitting with heat on my back and neck and suffering hot flashes galore. On top of that, somebody stole our mailbox today, along with mail that we hadn't picked up for 3 days! That didn't help anything!

Hey Ginger, what a kick in the head with a repeat. Please come here or anywhere, and let us be here for you again.
Don't forget that there are a lot of good gals on the recurrance boards, too.
Hugs.

Ginger: Life is not fair. The quote that helped me thru my dx that sure would have been helpful during my divorce and custody battle:
"When you're going thru hell, keep going." from Winston Churchill, and now a country song, not sure of the artist tho
the other thought: "When there's absolutely nothing that's funny:
laugh on credit."
Off to the airport for a quick pop-in at home.

Morning girls, don't know where the time went yesterday but I don't think I ever checked back in.....must have been the drinks the cabana boy brought me yesterday.
Char, I always love looking at your beach pics. Hubby leaves for work early, which is why I'm usually on early. I'm late today so don't have a lot of time.
Miz, I'm too old to learn to ski....don't want to break any bones now.
Dotti, so you're going to the beach? Will be here before you know it.
Amy, Sputnik is so cute. I'm sorry about the shingles. I've heard it is very painful.
Neesie, I think I missed how you got hurt.
Ginger, am seconding what everyone else has already said. We are here to support. Hugs to you.
Faithandfifty, how exciting for you. I have grandkids so I'm interested in the books too.
Ok, someone come lay on the towel next to me.

Margo: Good to see you, it's not like you to not post in the evening. I was going to ask where you were if I didn't see you this morning!
Soaking up the sun, hoping it relaxes some of these muscles. Lying next to you Margo, you picked a pretty spot!

Good morning Beach Ladies. Sorry I was awol for so long. My cable modem box flaked out this past weekend and I had to wait for Comcast to come replace it. We're back up and running now though. Thank you so much for asking about me. I need to check in at work so I'll be back later.

Jas ... thanks for checking in. Next time you won't be online for a couple of days, call me missy! You know how we all worry so!

Hi to all!
One last post before I leave for a visit on the coast of NC. I will check with friends here as this thread is so peaceful and relaxing for me.
angelcharlene-why anyone damages a mailbox,go figure! Hope that today is not as annoying as I know that feeling of mail being taken from a box and the hassle. You never know, hope it was just a goofy juvenile prank. Thinking of your lovely photos here and you!
Amy-have not seen any post from you and thinking of you! I,so,hope the shingles pain has subsided. Will keep checking back as you know we,all, care so much abt you! Love the goat pic!
Dotti-must have been someone else with a daughter that was visiting Seattle. Enjoy the vacation as it sounds great!
Ginger-hello to you! There are some very caring and kind people here. Sorry for the extra stress as it sounds like a rough time now.
Margaret-hi to you! Glad to see you and hope things go well there. Is it sunny and pretty in CA today?
Neesie-thinking of your PT and hope that the new dr works out well. It is a hassle to get the right med person and the right ins forms these days. Thinking of you! Also, thinking of your mom and her tests-was it next week that the results were to be returned on bloodwork?
faithandfifty-your books and recordings sounds awesome! I read many children's books and loved when authors visited. I tried to get autographed copies and add them to my collection. As angelcharlene already asked, are these more age-specific? Your tours sound really fascinating!
Jasmine-glad that you are able to get the cable back as that is such a big annoyance to be without internet access.
Jan-hi to you! Did I read more cold weather this week for your area? I think winter will be a fun thing when it passes! We can have a hello to spring party!
purplemb-always glad to see you! Is it cold and snowy inNY today?
Mizsissy-hope the skiing goes well as it is so warm here. We are so sunny and warm today here. We can all take a great beachwalk this afternoon.
Just wishing all of you good wishes from a sunny, dry NC! Thinking of everyone today and I will check with you in a few days. You will be in my thoughts while I am away.
All the best,
Iris

Ginger, no it's not fair. Sometimes life is not a beach it's a bxxch. I'm sure you will get your feet back under you, it just takes a while. We are here for you. I went for a walk on the beach this morning at sunrise, maybe tomorrow you can go with me.
and for the rest of you. Jaz, glad you are back.
Iris, where do you go on the coast. I almost moved to Elizabeth City I think that's what they call it. Job fell though. That picture is from the outer banks.
Margo, they don't call Neesie ditzy for nothing. She fell getting out of bed I think. OLO
Amy hope you are doing better. Is the swelling going down.
Faith that sounds wonderful. I hope you get to go to the easter egg hunt.
Hi Angel and everyone else. On my lunch break. gotta run.

Hey Fellow Beach Bunnies!
First, let me make a correction..........................
Susan: You are soooo right about me being Ditzy......but I Did Not fall out of bed.......much more glamorous..........I slid on a Dog Bed at my clients house!!!!!!
Iris: Have a great trip to the Coast!! A bit jealous here! You somehow have a great memory..........tell us your secret! Yes, it is next week Mom goes back for her test results, thanks for asking.
Amy: Sure hoping the shingles are feeling better..........{{{{amy}}}}
Angel: Hope your bones/joints are feeling better. This weather is crazy. 50 one day and sub-zero the next..........yesterday we went from freezing drizzle in the am to an all out rain and then snow.............I live here, why??
Ginger: Hope you're feeling a bit better after visiting the Beach with us....Yup, life is a beach............you're so right...you can do this!
Margaret: I'm with you.....ain't no way in he## that I'm getting on two sticks and sliding down anything..............Geez, the Doc suggested Crutches to me and I said that obviously he hadn't seen me walk with two legs.........I can only imagine me with 2 legs and 2 sticks!
Jasmine: Hope you had a great Birthday! Glad you checked in.....the possee was packing up to head to Arkansas!
I'll be back in a bit........I hope! Everyone have a great day..............!

on a layover @ the charlotte airport.... closing my eyes and soaking up the breeze from those new beach scenes. always impressed by those of you who have chosen such incredible shots AND know how to share them here.
trust me, they are welcome images in the midst of travel.
my "work" (can hear my DH laughing from FL) is primarily aimed at YOUNG children. most of my invitations are to sing & dance with preschool & kindergarten children. now that i'm an author/illustrator i occaisionally get invitations to provide residencies to the older grades -- which is beyond awesome. the national travel is to work with teachers of young children on the importance of the arts to education..... the role of self-esteem and motivation.
the neatest thing happened on this last leg of my travel. the stewardess gave me a pink silk scarf with lovely pink ribbon logos splashed about.....
she saw my pin on my coat..... her mom passed from this beast and she carries a supply of scarves to share with passengers in her memory. i'm just about crying thinking of her unbelievable kindness -- to a total stranger.
better post. have no idea how good this connection is

She sells sea shells on the sea shore;
The shells that she sells are sea shells I'm sure.
So if she sells sea shells on the sea shore,
I'm sure that the shells are sea shore shells.0
