    Mum, I saw this bird today..I thought it was a blue heron, but it seems too blue, any ideas??

    Beautiful blue, much too blue for a heron--or at least any I've seen in life or photo.  Also looks more crane then heron to my less than expert eye.

    I saw in a book it could be a little blue heron,,but they aren't a west coast bird..

    we always have to remember too...different seasons, different colors. i was amazed when hub and i started doing amateur birding how the males/females looked so different from one season to the next, and whether they were young or pre-adult, or adult, or older. birds really are fascinating species

    Your right Lisa it is a little Blue Heron and yes have been spotted on the southern west coast including Mexico.The blue  beak confirms ID but your right they are not usually so healthy looking.

    SoCaLisa, I think your bird is an albatross. Looks like one from the ones I saw before.

    chabba the owls are great. What is the one that looks like an albino finch?

    I don't know.  A couple of comenters on the local site I copied it from say it is a McKay's bubtibg.  Supposed to be rare in this area.  Apparently this one showed up about the time the snowy owls did.

    I'll try and copy and paste some here when I get a chance, from other computer.

    We're now in Daytona Beach for one more week.... literally on the beach -- for daily walks. 

    Hope that everyone has a day filled with LUV, Love and yet more LOVE!!!!! 

    So great to see all the photos. 

    I have my camera and recharged the batteries, but I've got to off load the memory card: LOL.

    I love the color.  IN a parking lot.   Reminds me of "Pothole Petunia".  20+ years ago this was a seldom traveled street with few homes and lots of potholes.  Someone planted a petunia in an easily avoidable pothole.  She even managed to bloom.  We kept her a secret so we wouldn't get lots of people coming to see her.
