    Celia..

    Green Flash...

Green flashes are real (not illusory) phenomena seen at sunrise and sunset, when some part of the Sun suddenly changes color (at sunset, from red or orange to green or blue). The word "flash" refers to the sudden appearance and brief duration of this green color, which usually lasts only a second or two at moderate latitudes.

i have only seen it once at sunset...at this place...here in San Diego

Well since I got that to post twice, by accident, I guess I'll show you the next quilt (pages 3 & 4) meant to represent the red rock of Arizona -- in Sedona, my fav get-away:

Each verse will have one flag-esque quilt followed by 2 representational/landscape quilted images.

Anywho. Do you remember my telling of my invitation to the White House for next spring's Easter Egg Roll? It's now my goal to get this finished in time for a PREMIERE next spring at that event -- in the high hopes that I will indeed get invited.

I'm asking for you to keep me on track and periodically prompt me to tell you if I've made any progress of late. Haven't stitched stitch number one, since moving in here with Sarah, back in Feb. Must get back to this effort next month after all of my travels on the horizon/once Scott returns.

today's trivia question: when did the White House begin the Egg Roll for the public?

I just realized that today's the perfect time to share one of my long term/ongoing projects.

The week of 9/11 I wrote a little song entitled, "Red, White and Blue" (I Love You) for my preschool friends. It's on my fourth album. I'm now working on the illustrations to turn it into a picture book..... I'm again making them/illustrations from fabric as quilts. These will be more 'representational' in their look than those that I created for my first book -- which were primarily contemporary designs.

..... anyhow, this is the first quilt, which will be pages 1 and 2 -- the first double page spread, after the title page:

OMG!  I love the Sedona quilt.  How long did it take you to make it?  That would be so great for you to get invited to the white house.  Didn't the egg roll begin in Roosevelt's time?

Good morning Beach Angels.  I hope everyone survived all the 4th of July festivities.  Its a nice rainy day here.  Everything is looking so lush and the cool front is so appreciated down here.

Faith -- you've almost inspired me to start quilting again.  Those quilts are simply beautiful.

Hello to all the beach babes...celia, socalisa, wings, FPAngel, spar2, deborye, susan, amy, biker, sahalie,... and anyone else I've missed from A to Z.

    Surprise song of the day!

Thank you sweet beach babes for the feedback on my book/quilts/project. It's been a long time in the making and still has a LONG LONG LONG way to go. I have 9 of the 16 quilts finished.... but one may need to get a make-over. In any case that's about half way along.

My biggest challenge is figuring out how to find the time to do that work, amidst my calendar that gets more travel away from home every year.

I'll really need you to keep my accountable.

And here's our final bow -- following the FLYING PYRAMID of 2008:

The sun has come out..... we're gonna take a little adventure before cabin fever sets in.

Those quilts are amazing!!  I love quilts, but 'alas'...........I was not in line when the talent gene was passed out!

Actually........for the few here that have seen me in action...............you will truly appreciate this! Yesterday I actually bought a 'pocket' guide of "I taught myself to crochet".............HMMMMMM, bringing back memories of a little purple square from a year ago!!

Apparently I'm helping DH install some windows today.............yep.........get the video camera ready............everythings stained and varnished and perfected. Trim is cut and polished to perfection...........outside trim is painted and laying in wait.  Just awaiting the 'sawzall' to come through and cut out the old and put in the new!

Faith - The twins are sparkling pretty in their holiday rompers. WB - (wowzie blue) eyes looks like he is enjoying his big brother role. Can't wait until your new album comes out. Love your colorful quilts - I admire your stamina - don't know how you do it all.

Lisa - How neat to see a green flash. I have never seen a green flash - other then when paying for gas - the money flashes out of my hand straight to the attendant. lol

nEEsie - You do windows too? I'll be waiting to see you on America's most funniest.

Margo - Nice to see you. Any new recipes to share with us?

Sahalie - Hope you enjoyed your company. What type of appetizers did you end up making?

Foots - Did you get a ramp? We could send cabana boys to help build.

JaZ - Glad you are enjoying the cool off. Are you planning a special Sunday dinner? I am grilling brats and burgers tomorrow.

Hope the rest of the beach girls are enjoying the holiday wkend.

Goodafternoon beach angels, just got back from a brats, hot link, hot dog, hamburger cook out for the grandson's 11 birthday party with an OU football cake.  He got lots of money and his own cell phone so he was a happy camper.  We had a lot of fun but am now ready to relax on the beach and just think my thoughts and listen to the waves.

The quilts are amazing, I am in awe

Faith, I forgot to tell you that those quilts are awesome.

Sahalie, the weather is great.  I'm wearing shorts right now.  Went for a walk along the bay this morning, this time on Foster City Blvd. toward Redwood Shores. Weather is supposed to be great all week.

Wings, lasagne is in the oven now.  I made some a week ago and it was great so I decided to make another one.  Yum, and I'm not even the least bit hungry.

Spar, grandson's birthday party sounds fun.

Thanks again to all for your support and interest on my quilts. They are a combination of traditional piecing and fusing..... I've just taken a workshop on free form quilting -- drawing with thread, and find it fascinating, but have much to learn about this new technique. For those of you that have never, ever quilted or used a sewing machine, you'll be impressed.

We took the circus act over to their great-grandmother's on the opposite side of town. She's my 'former' mother-in-law. It was good for Sarah to have a chance to have a change of scenery.

Remember my asking if anyone knew anything about 'blogging' and starting a blog??? Well, I've started one!! I'm just learning the process, but I'm really THRILLED. Once again I owe our own Jasmine a great deal of gratitude for her ealier patience in helping me navigate into photo bucket -- the skills have proven invaluable.

I'm almost ready to let you see it............

Spar: new avatar? Is that you? and who else? for a second I thought you were talking about Ohio University, but I checked and I bet you're talking Oklahoma BTW: that's where our SIL Scott is stationed currently.

speaking of Scott -- I spoke to him today, and he thinks he'll be headed back to us in two weeks let the celebration begin!!

Wings: so glad to have you back -- your sense of humor is so positive. I'll be watching for those Funny Home Videos, too. nEEsie with a chainsaw: priceless.

Margo: lasagna is my favorite food on earth. Did you save me some?

Sahalie: I think that it must be wonderful to be one of your genuine friends, in real life, well -- we're genuine and real life, but I would love to come to your home and bask in your friendship.

LisaSoCal: the green flash explaination was very helpful, i had NO idea

Footie: hope you're getting around better and better -- take good care of yourself

nEEsie: please be very careful when power tools are involved -- you're a national treasure

Celia: have you had a wonderful weekend? Can't wait to hear about it.

Amy: sending you travel mercies..... I'm thinking it's about time for you to return to your farm family

IRIS: missing you, your bears, your organized epistles, your razor-sharp mind for details

Susan: did you see any great fireworks?

sending Angel hugs to each and all from A to Z and back again
