You look great Chelev, I think I see some straightening in my future too. I need to get my daughter to take a picture, I'm just looking forward to the day I have bangs, and don't look like a kid that got hold of the scissors lol

Chelev - you look fantastic! I have just come back from the salon "topless"!!!
Have a good day all, Judy xxx

Yeah, I am glad I did it - it was getting very poufy. I was debating about cleaning up the bottom a little - now that I look at the back, it's a little scraggly, but I don't want to part with an inch of it!
Judy - yay for you!!!! Doesn't it feel great to be topless?????

Hi Ladies,
I purchased Nioxin booster, shampoo and conditioner yesterday, we'll see how it goes!!! I have a friend that is currently in chemo treatments. She has completed A/C and will starting 12 Taxol end of this month, 1 a week for 12 weeks. I want to inform her about the Nioxin and Biotin. Can she begin using these products while in treatment, or should she wait till her last chemo treatment?
Thank you ladies, your my lifeline!!!

I used the scalp treatment and the shampoo and conditioner on my scalp before I stopped chemo. Now I don't know if I should or should have not done that as I didn't ask my doctor so to be safe you should probably ask. I can tell you that I did not notice any ill effects of doing this. My scalp was never irritated etc and I have extremely sensitive skin (mild psoriasas and eczema)
My hair dressed did tell me that the Follicle Booster can bother sensitive skin so I would say not to use it while on chemo.
As far as biotin I believe that they do not want anyone on chemo taking any types of supplements.

Thanks Chelev! I am leaving shortly to collect the kids from school, I am actually nervous, but I am sure it will be ok.
Hugs to all, Judy x

marie111 - I am almost with you. I am 8 weeks PFC this Wednesday. I do have more than during chemo but I don't think I will be anywhere near stephanie1 in 5 more weeks. Just goes to so how we are all so different.
Stephanie1 - You look GREAT! I highly doubt I will have anywhere near that much in 5 more weeks.

Chelev,
Looking good! Wow, your hair really came in well! Tell me, did it get full and dense at first, then grow in length? Mine is "filling in" rather than "growing long" and I was wondering if that was your experience too.

Aw Lollys you look beautiful! Love the pics And so do you Chelev! Lilah

Janet - Hi there!!! Yes, it filled in first - thick and bushy (to my relief, because I have always had very thick hair) and now it appears I am getting lenght - weird, but it is getting longer on top than on the sides or back - I don't care as long as it keeps growing. I am a bangs girl, so I was so happy to finally see them come back - I don't care how long it takes to get the rest of it to a reasonable length (though I keep trying to see if there is enough to put in a pony tail yet - to my dismay, no not yet!!), but give me my bangs and I'm fairly happy.
Thanks, Lilah for the nice comments. Trust me if you read my posts back over the summer, I was a basket case because I had such bad folliculitis following chemo and it was weeks before I started seeing any growth as a result of that delay, and then I had a big 'ol bald spot on the front of my head that I was terrified would never fill in. I'm glad my hair decided it would start growing again!

Lollys and Chelev.....lookin real good. Chelev, I must say...you look as tho you have passed that stage of "looking" like a you know what person. Hair looks nice and thick... and oh I see the curls starting!
I still want my long hair back, but love not looking like......"a you know what kind of person"!
Thank you for sharing, Lori

You look awesome Chelev! I'll be waiting to find out when you can put in a pony tail. My hair was shoulder length or so - I'm 10 weeks PFC so I've got a ways to go. Hair is coming in though, thankfully. Lashes are on their way out . Bottom lashes are mostly gone, but I am still hoping I can keep enough top lashes to keep using the mascara, but it's not looking good. My lashes are long, but not very full, so I can't afford to lose too many. I hope they come back quickly.0
-
chrisct - how are you doing today? My lashes and brows fell out and came back very quickly. It was like the new ones were pushing the old ones out.
Hang in there!
Hugs, Judy x

Lori - the curls have started - before I did the relaxer on Saturday, it was washed and we dried it under a hood dryer and I had to fluff it up to get it dry - I looked like Richard Simmons! What you are seeing is AFTER the relaxer and it's still very wavy / wanting to curl!!! These post chemo curls are stubborn!!
chrisct - hang in there - they usually grow back fairly quickly but be prepared for the second wave to fall out - I wasn't ready for that, but they all regenerated at the same time and fell out again en mass. Now they are all back, thick and long again. It is hard putting mascara on one lash - doesn't quite work as well.

I hope it is a case of the new ones pushing the old ones out. I might have a bunch of tiny short lashes coming in on the bottom. Wasn't sure if they are new ones coming in or old ones that are broken. I think I have a short eyelash coming in in a gap on the top. A couple of them hurt when they fell out. The outside of my left eyelid was sore for a couple days - I think it was because of the lashes. Then the other night when I brushed my finger up the lashes on the right side, it felt like I was being stuck with a pin. It hurt! I had to go look in the mirror and try to find which lash was hurting and pull it out. The things we have to deal with....
LOL - putting mascara on one lash. I feel like I have 5 lashes on my left eye - they seem to be in groups with gaps in between and clump together when I try to put the mascara on.
And one funny thing - with this not having hair and such, I noticed that my right eye is bigger than my left. I had noticed in recent years that in pictures, my eyes looked different - one seemed to be open more than the other. I have this annoying habit of relaxing my smile right before the picture is taken so I look sleepy. Now I know why my eyes looked different. Not only am I dropping my smile, but my eyes are different sizes! Now that's all I see when I look in the mirror - one big, dark eye and one small pale eye. And I thought I was just putting the mascara on more heavily on the right side because I'm right handed. Now I have to pay attention to doing less on one side and more on the other. And of course I've lost more lashes and brow hair on that side too. Just when you want to get back to "normal...."
Fortunately, I was forewarned by all the ladies on this thread sharing their experience. I have learned so much on this website that I never would have found out otherwise.

Chelev - at what stage did your lashes and brows fall out the second time? How many months pfc were you?
Thanks, Judy x

Chelev...I am a 'bangs girl' too and I cannot wait for my bangs to get a decent length, then I will feel more comfortable without my hat.

Oh I am such a bangs girl I look silly without bangs. The funny part is I already have hair in the bang area that doesn't want to stand like the rest of my hair so even my hair wants to have bangs.
Does anyone know why my light blonde hair dye would make my hair a medium brown with red highlights ??

Well hmmm let's see -- my WIG has bangs lol -- I never had bangs in my life before the wig. It's fun wearing it but really hello? Hair? Where ARE you? Chelev I hear ya on feeling like it will never grow... but your gorgeous head of hair is reassuring to me now!
Waiting patiently I am...
Lilah (the hairless lol)

Judy - I was about 5 months PFC when they fell out the second time. I hear that after that, they start to stagger themselves and fall out at normal, one or two at a time rates, and not all at the same darn time.
Lilah - just keep the faith, hang in there, massage your scalp daily (I had my husband doing serious scalp massage to get the blood flowing), take biotin, and it does grow! I was in the worst shape this summer and it has come back.
Helen, how are you doing, hon?

Jaimie: I had red tones so I bought an ash (which I usually do not like). I found a newer color at Sally Beauty supply, it's Loreal Exquisite Ash blonde, it's a number 9, don't remember the whole number. anyway, I really like it.
Here is a pic of my hair today, it is now 25 weeks, almost 6 months, PFC. My hair is a bit wet here, so it looks darker than when it is dry:

JudyN: I was also about 5 months out when they came out again (now), but they didn't all fall out, and they are coming back in pretty quickly now. the eyebrows are still a bit thin though. And I just noticed after my shower today that even the leg hair has fallen out in blotches here and there. Weird
Chelev: I absolutely love your hair. I want to get the chemical straightening done, too, but wasn't sure if it was too soon. Your's looks really good.
Everyone looks great, I love looking at the pics, and trying to get ideas on what to do with this hair, lol. Right now I am just using a straightening serum....it's not bad, and at least works in the front, not so much on the back.

Hi all and thanks for the heads up on the lashes and brows. I am 4 months pfc now, I really hope that they don't fall out again.
Helen, how are you?
Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving!

gcpommom - Love your picture! Did you get any trims in the 6 months?

I'm 5 months PFC....hair is growing on the sides but the entire top is still very thin ...actually my scalp shows through everywhere on my head. I've been taking Biotin and just recently started putting avocado oil on and massaging it in. I can't go topless and I'm really tired of wearing a wig. Besides when the warm episodes come (from the Arimidex) the wig makes it worse. When I'm not at work I just wear a hat but at home I keep my head uncovered. I have no hair on my arms yet. My brows have fallen out 2 times .... following chemo. The brows are very skimpy. At this point I'm worried the top won't grow back. I've always had very curly hair ... and even the few hairs on the back of my head are already curly again. One day I hope I can post that the hair is there again. If I can figure out how to post a picture, I will do that.

Hi everybody. First time on this thread. My last chemo treatment(TAC) is on December 1st. I noticed a sparse white fuzz coming in about 2 weeks ago. I have always had poker straight, blonde, thin hair. I am hopeful that it won't be any thinner than when I started this "party" Thick and curly would be fun!
Thanks for all of the info and pictures.

Hair Thread, I have been going topless this week. I am tired of the hat. Wore the wig once. I am one month out of chemo. The hair started coming back during taxotere. I do not wear anything inside any building and have not for most of the fall. Tired of all of this, i decided this morning that I am not a cancer patient anymore just a survivor. i can do anything I want, and all the power to me. Most people do not think anything about the hair, it is still thin on the top and back. The worst thing is that it is gray or white and very little color. i am only 51. It is so light that you can hardly see it. Any suggestions on getting this stuff some color. I will suggest to all who want to know. i started used head and shoulders on the hair this summer, use a good conditioner and scalp treatment by satinque(amway product). It started to grow slow. After chemo I have been taking good vitamins, and vitamins. I think the vitamins make a difference. I tried a little expermint and stopped the vitamins for a week. friend said the hair was growing but not as much in the week she had not seen me. So guess what went back to the vitamins and biotin and it is really grown this week. Hope everyone has a great day From a new BC survivior Hugs Dianne
