I am a little slow on the uptake. So, uh how long until I get eyelashes/eyebrows? I am four weeks from my last taxol. Oh man, do I want them back.

ccbaby, thanks for the short hair-do pics! I've been starting to look around at some ideas. I'm not quite ready because hair isn't quite long enough yet, but hope to be there in a month or two!

Hi ladies - I'm feeling a little inspired. My SIL and family came to visit today from out of town. My brother commented that exactly two years ago, she sat on my sofa and was bald with a wig and had no eyelashes and no eyebrows from her chemotherapy for endometrial cancer (Taxol/Carboplatin was her regimen). Fast forward to today...her hair is thick and past her shoulders, her bangs are long and nearly to her chin, she has all her eyebrows and her eyelashes look amazing. A person would never know what she went through. It gave me some hope for hair again!!

Sherri -- that is such an inspiration!
Chinablue -- it's different for everyone...but I'm thinking very soon you should start feeling some stubble where the eyebrows should be. My eyebrows and lashes started falling out around Thanksgiving, about 3 weeks AFTER I finished chemo, then showed signs of growing back by New Year's (and I'd say about a week or so after that they were positively LUSH).

Lilah, thanks for your reassurance.

Chinablue - my lashes and brows fell out 4 weeks after my last taxol and came back quite quickly after that.
After around 5 months pfc, my lashes started to come out, but most stayed in and then it stopped. My lashes grow downwards though so it can be a bit difficult putting on mascara.
Hope this helps! Sherri - you have inspired me too! Thank you.
Hugs to you all, Judy xoxox

JudyNaomi, Are your eyelashes still growing downwards? Mine still are, too. Putting on mascara is practically impossible! Is it getting any better the further you are out from treatment?

Hi weety911 - they are still growing downwards and you are right, mascara is not easy to apply.
Hope everyone is doing ok today - hugs to you all, Judy x

I bought a product called Rapid Lash today. Thought I'd give it a try. Anyone heard of it?

When I got up this morning my eyelashes, what I have left, really had bad bed head. They were going in every direction. When I tried to get them straightened out, most of them just fell out. I might have 4 lashes on each eye. I wear contacts and one got stuck on the contact. Boy was it a mess. I am now just ready to pull the rest out.
Sherri, I have not heard of that product.

Juannelle!
Eyelashes with "bed head"! I'm cracking up visualizing that!

I have been following this thread for months and now I am finally done with chemo so "Let the hair grow". It has started growing back a little while I was on Taxol but not to much on top. I don't have any eyebrows and only a few eyelashes. I am so excited for this hair to finally start growing in thicker I can't wait.

Tammy -- Woo hooooooo!!!! on finishing chemo!

Jaimeh - you look gorgeous! Use the flat iron - I have been using mine since I could grab hairs with it - and it really does help. Use some product to help protect the hair before you iron it - there are lots of heat styling products out there - and then you can get some spikey pieces that help blend in with the curly.
ccbaby - I looked at the very short hairstyles and realized I have graduated to short hairstyles - yay!! I am meeting with a new stylist next week to discuss growing out options - I don't think I want it as long as before, but maybe just at or above shoulder length. Now that I am dealing with a very thick head of hair that actually looks like a style and not the chemo cut, I am open to different length options (I know, gasp!!!!!! for those of you following along from last year).
The top lashes have finally grown back in again and I hope that after 4 complete cycles of falling out together, they'll just fall out one at a time where you don't notice it anymore.

Sugar: I used the Rapid Lash. It worked great. It also lasted a lot longer than it was supposed to. Several months I think. Even my eye doctor commented on my very long lashes.

Who makes Rapid Lash and where did you all buy it???

Bobcat - I purchased mine in Canada at Shopper's Drug Mart. The cosmetics manager says it's from the US so you should be able to find it somewhere. I Googled it and here's a link to their official site:

I saw rapid lash at Bed Bath and Beyond. $50--- but they always have those 20% off coupons around. Ask for it at the counter. I did not buy it but thought about it. I had to quit my job when I started this BC journey and at the time just couldn't shell out the cash. Good Luck. I am glad to hear that someone did find that it works.

Chelev...good for you! I have watched your hair growth from the beginning, knowing what hair length to expect as time went on. I know your hair has to be longer than your avatar pic by now. I want mine to grow to my shoulders, but I probably won't have it long as it was before either.

I am pleased to report that now that I have stopped the Femara, my hair has started growing like wildfire! I love it! And, the hair on my legs that was growing like wildfire now is growing at a normal pace. How strange is that?

Glad to hear you are done with Chemo! My treatment plan was a little different as it involved Herceptin as well. I took my wig off approximately 6 months after I completed AC+T (I was still on herceptin so maybe it slowed my hair growth?).
Best of luck to you!!!

Hi Goldie (sorry do not know your real name)...
I am now only just over 1 month post chemo.. and it is showing at the top of my head hair starting to come back in and quite a bit.. (hair started growing a bit in the third treatment). My hair on the top is not growing forward and down on the scalp as it showed on your pictures when your hair started to come back and in fact at the moment my hair is growing showing start up hmmmm
Some women I have spoken to have told me that sometimes this is the norm and when I get more hair that it will start to fall down. My hair is more or less over the whole head coming in patches so to speak. Perhaps one of these days I should take pictures of my head..

Charmaine - what regimen did you have? I finished TC on Feb. 8th and is starting to sprout but I can still see my scalp on the top. Maybe next week it'll fill in more.

Hello Juannelle,
I have been dying my hair for several years now - otherwise my hair previous to chemo was a between salt/pepper and platinum blonde. My hair that is coming back is 'white' hmmm - So I have to wonder once my hair is all in - if it will be all white or if the white will change back to what it previousily was. Has any ladies experienced this?

Sherri,
I was on 4 treatments of texatere and another drug cyclophosphamide
and from the 2nd to 4th treatment the Oncologist added extra steroids... Charmaine

Charmaine - you had the same treatment as me, TC - Taxotere and Cytoxan, which is the brand name of Cyclophosphamide. Maybe next week, I'll have scalp coverage, too.

Charmaine, my name is Lori. I think most of us have that white colorless hair in the beginning. It will eventually get color. And yes, everyones is different as to how it comes in. I have heard other girls say theirs stands up and they can't get it to lay down. I did not have that problem, the problem I was blessed with (NOT) are the curls. Hang in there!

Thanks for replying to my message Lori. I have to wonder if my hair continues to grow upwards how I am to resolve this. There is one hairdresser in my neighborhood that I happen to talk to - she suggested shaving my head again (which I did while going thru chemo and when I only had fuzz left) and she said maybe it will grow in normally then. Several women on here many messages ago said not to shave it and to just wait and see hmmm
Yes I am also hoping it will come in some normal colour... Charmaine

Charmaine....My hair came in white in the beginning too and eventually changed to its original color. I kept snipping off the ends every 4 weeks or so to get rid of the 'chemo hair' I am sure your hair will change too. You will have to give it a little time.0
