Carrol2, have you thought about reporting that guy to the company? That is so awful!!! I'm speechless!

Just curious, how expensive were the cold caps? I will use the money I saved on expensive skin care products and hair color (when I get hair).

I put a 30 day color on my new fur here is before and now...Kinda redish for dark brown
0 -
I think they were like $450 per month or something... plus the dry ice etc. Go for the skin products!!!

Sue, your fur looks good! How many weeks out?
bdavis, for that price I am getting a peel and buying some Obagi products. I have been treating myself to regular massages with the money I have been saving on cuts/color. Never need much of an excuse to spend more money on me.

Sue it looks great. Just a bit lighter and longer than my fur. It's a lot less harsh on you.0

I should have reported him but i had a lot on my mind at the time. He was going to charge me $1,000 plus i had to provide the dry ice. Money I really could not afford to experiment with.

LOL I was trying to make those pic.smaller, sry. Thanks. Yours looks great too lago!
I'm 4 1/2 months out. I am just going to use a 30 day color til I get more growth. No damage with a 30 day. It made it look thicker.
I would not use a permanent hair color on eye browns but the do make color just for brows. I'd google it.

DMD: Try Anastasia brow gel from Sephora. Someone early on in this thread recommended it. I like it a lot. It's easy to use and looks very natural.
cc4npg and lago: Taxotere did a number on my fingernails. Most of them recovered in a couple months after chemo was finished, but one took over a year to grow out normal. It didn't hurt, but I could see that it was detached from about half way from the base.

My onc did not have a good opinion on the cold caps and I wasn't worried enough about my hair to really consider it. Through taxotere, I iced my hands and feet and it was painful - I remember seeing a lady with a cold cap on her head and just couldn't imagine it. My cancer centre is huge and through all the months of treatments and appts I only ever saw that one woman with a cold cap.
I have been using the Glaxal cream that I was told to use through rads, on my face and it works GREAT - not too glamourous, but I plan to keep using it. I had always used Clinique before but it was just not enough.
Ok SUE - I'm sold! I'll give it another few weeks and then I'm colouring my hair. I posted the same pics on facebook and someone asked me if I had purposely matched my sweater (which was grey) to my hair

Lago and sue your color looks great. I have had my hair appointment booked for a few weeks, I go Friday. I can hardly wait ! I'm having my hair colored red as this was my color before chemo. I wonder if I should tell him to go easy on the red if that color seems to be dominant in post chemo hair. I don't want to look like a fuzzy farm animal. . Maybe an Easter Chick lol.

Hi ladies
I've been lurking here for a while, and feel liek I know you all already! My last chemo is next Thursday, and I've been doing scarf the whole time.
I am very excited and happy to see all the pictures posted here, helps me to gauge what to expect in the coming weeks.
I have a trip coming up (vacation) which will be about 17 wks PFC, so i think I may be able to get by without scarves by then? I hope so!I admire you all for your open honesty and tips. Thank you for sharing!!

Sue....your hair looks great. Your length is similar to mine except I am about 2 weeks ahead if you. I dyed my hair also...has more colour than how it was growing in. I will take new picture soon. Sometimes, I feel that my hair isn't growing except when I see pics or someone hasn't seen me for a while.

Dawn, I am triple negative too, so no meds either. Am half-way thru chemo (3/6) and hope to be done first week in June, then start rads. I am on DD (every 2 wks) treatment of cytoxan and taxol. I have the Head & Shoulders too...shoulda done the trial size! I have a lifetime supply! I have round 4 April 28. Want to ask about the Biotin. Would like to get somethng started, but I am on clinical trial and there are some things that I can't do because it could affect the results. But i keep asking!
I think I have a little stubble, hope it sticks around but not enough to tell for sure. Eyelashes and brows still in tact and about 60%? down below My brows are light anyway, but really not looking forward to lashes. Got some false ones to try, but don't know if I can carry that off.
Thanks to all of you for sharing your pix and progress. It gives us gals with nothin' something to to look forward to and gives us hope!

Husker, if you haven't done it, look into the Look Good Feel Better class. You get some nice cosmetics, and they give you good tips. It should be free in your area. Warning! you get a grab bag of high end and grocery store cosmetics. The high end stuff is a lot better Like when I got my first Dolce & Gabbana suit, wow, you can never go back.

dawn, I did go to the LGFB class but was disappointed. They showed a video with a gal sporting a whole bunch of different wigs. Really cute styles. We got the bag of cosmetics, which had some good stuff. But we did NOTHING with it, although we each had a mirror and makeup wipes, there we sat. The gal leading it was a cosmotologist, talked about ways to wear scarves in general, showed a way to take an old t-shirt, cut it and make a turban/sleep hat, and talked about having a good attitude, laugh a lot, God will see us through. At the end, found out she goes to Toastmasters, so is trained to tell stories, and she had lots. But she never really got to anything useful. There were six of us there, three in wigs, three just starting out. There were no introductions. I was so disappointed! So at the end, I asked if we might at least share names/stories. I told my sister that I didn't intend to take over the group (I'm a school counselor) and she said YES YOU DID! THAT'S YOUR JOB! Once we started talking about our journey and how far into it we were, they shared alot about what worked for them, ordering wigs/hats online (tlc.org...got a cute RED wig for cheap, and it is returnable! although haven't worn it yet-will when I get brave after school is out or feeling bold!)
I would still recommend to others to go from everything online I've heard...I got a dud leader, unfortunately, but the makeup is worth the trip and I will get helpful hints right here for all the other support I need.0 -
Wow, that sucks Husker. My class was great. I even got to be the model, lol because i had no hair. I got a nasty wig from there. I speak my mind and i probably offended the cosmetologist there, but that wig was fugly!! she did make it look better though. as simple as hair combing is, those who are trained are definitely a lot better at it. i think you did get a dud leader!!! hope you at least got good stuff.

I went to two LGFB classes. The first one the leader was the person who trains people to do the class. SO she was excellent. The second one asked me to go cause they needed people and in the end only one other person came. The leader had a cold so she had an assistent applying makeup on us. I did not get as nice products thst time and i did not like the way she put the makeup on me.

I keep hearing that many experienced some hair growth during taxol... I did DD A/C x 4, then DD Taxol x 4. I finished April 7th. No hair growth at all! For those of you who did dose dense... did you experience any hair growth during Taxol? When oh when will I have hair again?
0 -
Lisa, I did dose dense AC x 4 and DD Taxol x 4. I had no growth during Taxol. My chemo started 10/13 (2005 by the way) and I did every two weeks, so was done January. I started with growth as soon as Taxol done and by May I stopped wearing wigs. I was NOT a pretty bald woman - I envy those who are - so I needed a good 1/2 inch or so before I was comfortable without head cover. Lisa, I actually have pics of my growth process - PM me with your email addy if you'd like to see.0
-
i did my dose dense split up into 8 sessions instead of 4. i got the peach fuzz at week 7.
0 -
oh and i meant 8 weekly sessions vs 4 bi weekly

Lisa - I did dose dense AC last spring and then Taxol all summer weekly. I did not have any growth during Taxol. I finished chemo on August 23, and my first growth started at the end of September. I lost my eyebrows/lashes in August and they came back in late October. By December I had enough hair to color it and go topless for the holidays (with family!) and then in late January I went topless on a trip to Mexico - didn't even pack the wig. Finally dropped the wig for good in mid-March.
I feel like some others have had faster growth than me, and maybe the Herceptin I've been having during this whole year is slowing it some - not sure though.

I am loving the new hair pics! Everyone looks great! I am 6 weeks out and my hair is starting to fill in, will try and post a pic later. My eyebrows all fell out recently and are growing back wild! The biggest kick in the ass was the eyelashes, I have 5 on one side and 11 on the other. on top of that, I am sporting a true pirate look. I am wearing a scarf and an eyepatch. Apparently, I scratched my cornea. The eye doc said it was probably from having no eyelashes.
Yesterday, I woke up hoping that it would feel better, but it felt 100 times worse. I had to drive to rads, which was interesting. Bald girl with one eye. I asked the nurse to look at it and she told me " I bet you have an ingrown eyelash, chemo patients get them". What?? She was right, she flipped my lid, plucked it out, and I had instant relief. Is there no end to chemo's collateral damage?

Hi everyone. Today I am 6 weeks post TC treatments (still on herceptin) and my hair is coming back! I felt I could now join the ranks here with all you beautiful women!
My hair never did fall all the way out, albeit very, very thin. It wasn't even patchy. I had my hair buzzed with a 2 way back in mid December. A lot more fell out after that, what didn't fall out kept growing and I had it buzzed with a 2 again in February. I have to admit what was growing though never looked good. It looked like pubic hair and it was totally gray! Last week I decided to dye it chestnut brown. I put it in my hair, started doing chores around the house, was waiting on the 25 minutes. Never looked at myself in the mirror until around 20 minutes out. I caught a glimpse of myself and it was bright ORANGE! OMG I ran to the sink and rinsed the heck out of it. Then when it was done I dried it off and because I was basically bald with this bit of hair I looked like a flipping baby orangutan!
Now my real hair is growing back under that mess. Thinking of options here and when I should go ahead and buzz off the orangey color.
0 -
I colored my hair at 7 weeks or so and got that lovely orangutan color, too! It washed right out and was completely gone within a couple of days. I even tried that Fanci-ful stuff that basically washes out the next time you shampoo. I applied the dark brown and it went on a little orangey and then disappeared. It would not color one hair! So...now I am afraid to try anything. I hope I am not stuck with this gray and black hair, it's just not me!

Hi Sandy....
I'm thinking of trying henna later on down the road. I'll wait till it comes in a bit more. I need to buzz off this orangy stuff though, I dont even think it's my "real" hair. I dont know what it is. It's very straw like and lifeless. It's chemohair! lol
