mccrimmon - The first wig I bought was really uncomfortable.  The second wig I bought (Raquel Welch product purchased on-line) is not...I wear it everywhere and don't need anything else underneath.  It is one of the coolest (temperature-wise) head-coverings I have because of that.  I suggest you keep shopping for a more comfortable wig.

The lace front wigs are way more comfortable then the others.  You can find a human hair lace front wig from $60 up.

mccrimmon324  I wear a liner bought from TLC and I find it to be cooler than just the wig against my scalp

PSU222... I buzz cut my hair and only lost it after first treatment... and it actually grew between the 3rd and 4th treatment .. so since January, I have had hair on the sides, crown and back, just thinner and very very short... nothing much at temples... now that I am done (finished May 10), there hasn't been any growth yet, but i have stubble all over (1/8 inch long) except the temples where I can feel something, just can't see anything.

psu222, I shaved my hair and it never fully fell out I had the buzz cut for a long time than when I went on to Taxotere it started to grow back.

PSU222 - I lost all my hair (everywhere!!).  I buzzed my head after my first tx when it was coming out really fast (about 10 days).  The stubble was uncomfortable so my hubby helped me remove it with duct tape LOL!  My head was so smooth and shiny but I noticed some regrowth starting around my 5th tx which was taxotere.  Everyone is different - there are some women who keep some of their hair while others lose it all.

BDavis ..  that sounds pretty much what I experienced when my hair started to re-grow ... crown and back grew back first -- temples and bang area where the very last to have appearance of stubble.

... Let me see === finished chemo taxotere/carbo in late December -- by late April -- I had a short 'Mia Farrow' do.

    Hey Ladies:

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Lago-loved the eggs, and thx for your response about chemopause!

I don't know if my image upload will work...but I'm wondering if you can see my peach fuzz at 4.5 wks PFC. (Really, I just want people to say, "Sure--I *totally* see it, you aren't really just imagining things!) Ha ha

slcst12--I see peach fuzz!  I have little dark spots but only under magnification.  I can not feel anything but the little bit of 1/4 hair that I did not looseUndecided.  I am looking 16 times per day, oh well, those follicles are bound to sprout soon.

slcst12 - I see it!!  BTW, your head looks so perfect.  Once it starts, you'd be surprised how fast it starts coming in...never fast enough though it seems.

    Thanks ladies.

I was a little worried and thinking maybe my chemo wasn't doing it's job.  Don't get me wrong it makes me feel like crap 3 days later.  But I just did not expect to still have this much hair at this point.

PSU222 I have just finished my second tx of TC. Hair is thin. With some baldness. It is cut to a quarter of an inch. I wonder if it's going to stay this way. I have four tx that I have to do-- or "get to do."

I also had my hair cut short, but not a close cut.  I guess this hair loss thing is different with all of us.  My hair stylist always told me that I had stubborn hair.  Hard to perm and color and now trying to hang on with chemo.  Oh well time will tell.

I buzzed my hair the middle January after my first AC and I have never been totally bald. Now I am on taxol and it's started to grow. I've had 2 taxol and 2 more to go. I am hoping my hair will continue to grow. I'm excited about what it's going to look like when it does grow back.

Thanks so much for your comments ladies!
I was so hoping everyone could see. This is my first picture post. It was hard for me to do (not technically, but emotionally).

I mean, besides when DH put the clippers to my head, he's not seen me w/o a hat or scarf. Like-ever. I feel so exposed, and I just felt like this was the *one* thing that I didn't want seared in his mind.  Am I nuts?

He's risen above so much else (surgery, scars, chemo misery) that I didn't want my bald head etched in his mind...But oddly, as emotionally difficult as it was for me to post here, I think it's part of the healing process. And, I know I'm amongst friends here, so it's a good place to start.

I'm wondering if I'll have enough hair to go topless by Labor Day (we're heading to Disney with the kids!) B/C already, it's super hot here in Philly (like 92) and the scarves are a challenge!

slcst12 my last chemo was Jan 19th. Started going topless April 18th. I thought I was going to have to wait 6 months but it was only 3. Here's a picture from that day and the day after (when I got it colored)

Wow Lago you look great. My onc told me after 3 months it will really come in and he was right. Well except on top...not as long or full and thick as the back but it's getting there. I completed chemo last may and I am just waiting for the top to grow long enough and fighting the curls. Got some great tips from everyone to tame those curls.

    Hope everyone is well

slcst12- My last chemo ws 3-10, and my hair has finallystarted to come in a lot more now (11 weeks). My avatar picture is at about 8 weeks, The first 8 or 9 weeks were a horrible watch and wait time, and for me losing hair has been the worst part of this whole mess (I know that sounds vain, but I really only felt sick when I looked at my bald self.) I work at home, and found I had better days when I put on a wig, even when I was by myself. but a funny thing happened a few weeks ago, My husband said he likes me better without the wig, because "it is me" as he says. This weekend was the first time I was out in public without my wig, when we went to the pool at the hotel we stayed at. there were kids in the pool and adults in the hot tub, and I was ready for stares, but no one even gave me a second glance! It made me feel more powerful in some strange way. This weekend is our local Relay for Life, and I signed up to walk the Survivor Lap which begins the event. Pretty sure I feel comfortable now to do that topless!

Don't worry, it will come in. I'm going to Vegas at the end of August for my daughter's 21st birthday, and I plan on leaving the wigs at home by then!

Aimee, I wil be at the race on Sun too. Maybe we could meet up and introduce each other. I'm going to try to walk. Let me know what you think. I heard it is going to be 80 degrees, we shall see. I hope you had a great weekend and congrats. I love the rooms at the casino, i've stayed there a couple times before. It's wonderful!

Pumela, I think you might be at a different location than me - I'm going to the South snohomish County event at Edmonds-Woodway High school. I don't think we are going to have anything near 80 degrees!

    Thanks Lago and Aimee!
It seems like the next few weeks will be the toughest....I mean, for the last 4 mos I've kind of "accepted" the fact that I have no hair, right? But now, I sort of expect it to be coming in... I'm impatient.

Oh and insult to injury--my eyebrows are gone...like, just this weekend, They were thinning before but yesterday i looked and there's nothing there. That's just annoying. "Hey eyebrows...I'm all done with chemo-didn't you get the memo??"

sclst my eyebrows and lashes thinned during chemo but I had plenty throughout treatment. 5 weeks after treatment they started fall out big time. The brows grew in really fast though. Lashes are much slower. Hate to tell you this but I think some lashes and brows have fallen out again but… they seem to be growing back quickly… and just a few that probably I would only notice.

Aimee, yep your right, i think i will be walking downtown. I 'm not even sure, but i know it's not out north. lol well have a good time! I don't think it will be 80 either, but my son told me Sat and Sun is suppose to be hot. We haven't even had 70 degrees yet!.

sclst, I just noticed that some of my eyelashes fell out again and my last chemo was Jan 13th. They all grew back and so did my eybrows and yesterday when i was putting on my makeup i noticed the middle ones were gone again. They do come in quickly when they come back. The hair on your head will start to come in fast too, you will see.

Have a great day every one!!!

Here is my hair at 6 months post chemo. I haven't had a hair cut yet...hence messy/scraggy look. It is very messy--a little curly--but mostly messy and no style. We are heading to a wedding in a couple of weeks so I am hoping to get it cut before then.

NormaJean Chemo ended Jan 18th. Still doing Herceptin. #13 is in 2 weeks.

Rachel you just need to trim that a bit and you will look stylin. I'm still wondering when my first cut will be.
