on the advice of carrol I had my husband take a picture last week and will take them weekly, until I have one that shows enough hair to post.

Rachel and Saramom - Love the pictures; am so jealous of your beautiful hair. I remember when I would have thought of you as having short hair, but now it looks soooo long to me!
Christine - When my hair started coming in it also looked first like light-colored peach fuzz, followed by a prickly kind of stuble (darker, like my real hair color), which when it grew a little longer now feels like fur. All this to say, it sounds to me like you are seeing the first stages of hair growth. I couldn't see real progress until about 6 1/2 to 7 weeks post chemo. Maddeningly slow I know.

Hi everyone, love the pictures, everyone is looking great. Mine was coming in great but now I think it has stalled. Anyway I am bonding with my male friends. My gay friend is teaching me "spiking" tips and the other men are helping me with hat tips to not get sunburned and how to keep the hat on while on a jetski or fast boat. ha ha

Here I am this past weekend...can you pick me out in a crowd???? In my mind I think I now look like I have styled my hair this way, but when I see these pictures maybe not so much.

marjie you look like a real athlete in that pic, like you cut your hair to be more aerodynamic while bike riding.
christine i take pics no more than every two weeks, more like once a month to really notice a big difference.
now it's so curly it makes it seem shorter ; (

hdangelbaby Happy Birthday. I look italian but I'm not. 1/2 Russian, 1/4 Polish, 1/4 Lithuanian Jewish.
marjie we do have the same haircut granted mine is longer now. I'm actually going to get the back trimmed next week. You look like you could beat the crap out of anyone in that picture. Are you pressing 100lbs 3x a week? Wow do you look strong.

I'm so excited!! I am getting my first cut, okay trim tomorrow! I am 22 weeks PFC and have about 2- 2.5 inches. I have been wearing ballcaps as it is curling and sticking out everywhere! Someone on this thread, can't remember who, said they looked like Kramer from Seinfeld- well, that's me. It is sticking straight up on top.
MBJ- how much longer does it need to get before straightening products will keep the top down?
Marjie- You look great!
hdangelbaby- Happy, Happy Birthday!!

Thanks everyone...just came back from my 30 second "first haircut". She just snipped all the fuzzy ends off, trimmed around my ears, and trimmed my neck. I was worried about it looking too masculine, but then I though "as opposed to what??". Hopefully like before, a haircut will prompt it to grow a little quicker.
Lago - we are actually supposed to be able to press 40% of our body weight for fitness testing and at this point I still find that very very difficult so 100lbs???...nope, lol!
Carrol - "aerodynamic" - that's what I'll call this style. Maybe we can convince people it's all the rage?

yeah i am going to start a white girl fro trend!!

marje you look great..like you mean to have it short...look like a professional biker (pedals not motor)
0 -
Definitely not a biker...paddler not peddler lol.

Marjie I don't think I'll ever be able to do even half that (100lbs) and that would be about 40% of my body weight. I was just using 10lb hand weights before this all started.
I'm thinking about doing a trim on Monday. The back of my hair is starting to look messy. I'm only 3+ months! My hair grows so fast.

My hair seems to be growing really slow but I guess at least it's growing! My son shaved his head for cancer support at school back around end of April and his hair is all ready longer than mine. No fair!!
I'm glad I got a trim, makes it official that I have hair now I guess - now if only I could get some BANGS!!!

Hi all! I'm sorry I don't have the time to keep up with this thread but I wanted to share my monthly hair photo. This is 7 months past chemo. My hair is about 3 inches long now and I've started to wear a head band occasionally to control the poof. The humidity makes my hair grow like Jiffy Pop!! It's getting long enough now that I can shake my head when I get out of the shower and feel my hair move. It's a small thing but it makes me happy. On a side note, it was one year ago today that I got the life changing call. What a long, strange year it's been but I'm here, I'm happy and in many ways am stronger than I was a year ago.

Did anyone NOT get their hair back? I'm 9 months post chemo and still look like a freak. I'd post a picture, but I don't know how. I have SOME hair, maybe 40% of what I used to have. It has a male pattern baldness look. Oncologist said it couldn't possibly be from the chemo (Cytoxin and Taxotere), go get your thyroid checked and see the dermatologist. I did. Everything is normal, but my hair. Not only on my head, it's sparse everywhere else. No one knows why, but I have read that Taxotere can do this. Any comments? How do I insert a photo?

Suzanne, Wish I knew what to tell you....the fact that you have some hair, makes me think it is just taking its time coming back....the male pattern baldness seems to be the way it comes back. How you tried any of the hair stimulating products?....nioxin, biotine (I am be confusing my mouth products here), rograin (sp). I know it is frustrating when you are the one waiting, but really do think it will grow back. Wow, listen to me giving hair advice and here I am in the middle of losing mine again.....looked at wigs tonight which was something I vowed I would not do again.....never say never is the name of this game.
Oh, re photos.....you need to put your pics in photobucket....it's a free program. Once you have them in there you can just copy and paste them. You can keep both pages open by minimizing the BCO page, copy the pic you want from photobucket , right click I think, then go back to BCO page and go to your post and paste ....this little note will come up asking you if you want to allow access several times when you try to paste, you click Ok or allow access, I forget now, but finally the pic shows up....Do not mess with that little tree up on the bar...that is a real PIA. Good luck with this.
Your hair looks really good, Kathy. I never did get curls, but don't know why. I understand they just sort of go away as the hair continues to grow.

You ladies look great! Love the pics marjie spotted you there look great. In the pic I also finished feb 4 think I have bout same hair as you !!!

Katherine, your hair looks simply fabulous, shiny and healthy. I cannot get over how young you look. So I just read your bio and see that indeed you have been thru so much in one year at such a young age and with four small children! God bless you and thanks for posting the photos. I loved them

DoubleWhammy--start looking around on these forums, there is a thread for folks who didn't get hair back. Yes, it can happen, and the doctors really don't like to disclose that very serious fact. It's about 6% (according to the pharma, so it might even be a bit more) who don't get a return of hair.
Mine took forever, and the texture and feel is radically changed. I got my hair, but it is not the hair I had.
If I were in your shoes, I would seek further medical advice. There may be things you could do like Rogaine.

Kate your curls are fabulous! I dont see myself getting any of those but i am getting hair so I am ok with it. it is still very thin on top, but I think it will eventually fill in. Funny my RO (who is totally bald) asked me how I like my hair and I said "prob about the same as you like yours" He laughed

Katerhinenaomi your hair looks great. I think I am about a month behind you so thanks for posting that gives me something to look forward to. Right now I have kind of a short afro going on. I slick it all down with paste and gel the best i can but like yours its very poofy. I wear headbands too, mostly fabric ones, looks like a thin scarf when I wear it. I still have one spot that is thinner than the rest on the top back of my head that is not that noticeable to anyone but me. It always looks like i slept on it funny no matter what i do. I can only hope as it grows it gets covered up.My diagnosis was June 23rd and my last chemo was Dec 7th so it's 5 months 28 days since my last chemo.

Kate you look awesome. You have gorgeous hair. I wish I got my shine back like you.
DoubleWhammy Yes there is a 1-3% chance (they think. Haven't been counting that long) of not getting your hair back on taxotere. It seems though that these women lose all their hair. It also seems the more tx you had the worse off you are. I had 6 tx.
Mine came in fairly fast but I did have the male pattern baldness. I am taking 5 mg of Biotin daily and doing women's Minoxidil (generic Rogaine) once a day. Just remember with Minoxidil it can take 3-6 months for it to work. Other's have had luck with Nioxin products.
That fact that you have some hair is a good sign. I know there have been others that have had slow growth. Also are you on any hormone therapy. Even chemo-pause will reduce the amount of estrogen in your body. Less estrogen can cause hair loss in some women. I would discuss this with your onc, gyno and/or dermatologist.
