bdavis,  mine is dark and sticking straight up.  You have alot of hair, looks like is may be curly?  You have alot of hair around your ears.  The next few months should be interesting.  I just talked with a gal who also had TAC, she had NO regrowth for 12 weeks, now curley reddish hair, 7 months pcf, and lot of it.

Christine, Mine was your length as I started chemo (I cut it that length) and then it started growing in March... I finished chemo May 10... it is very fluffy and white... and not much going on at the temples, but you are right, lots of hair around the ears, especially behind my ears... I massage it all the time to encourage growth!!!!

Yes, that's my thought: to buy a short wig, so when my hair grows enough for me to feel comfortable to go wigless, it won't be such a shock for people at work. I have been going without a wig when I go where not likely to see someone I know. It's sort of a game, where if I do see someone I know, I feel strong enough to deal with their wide-eyes!  The first time I went wigless I felt free and bold.  We'll see.

out03doors, My new freedom is going with just ball caps when I will not see anyone I know.  A few second glances, but generally people are extra nice.  I guess I am at the point where I feel good and just don't care.  When did you finish chemo, any hair yet?  As you can see we are all about the hair (or lack of) on this thread.

    Ladies

I made a mistake in my earlier posts where I mentioned Nioxin scalp therapy.  I meant treatment and have now corrected. (The therapy is the conditioner).

I don't know if Nioxin helps with growth but in my experience it does reduce shedding. Prior to chemo and prior to starting Nioxin shampoo, I used to shed hairs throughout the day; my hair is/was fine.  Once I started Nioxin pre-chemo, I noticed that the shedding reduced considerably. I also kept some hair throughout chemo, probably similar to pejkug3 and Carrol2.

Betsy, you have an amazing amount of hair for 5 weeks! I am at 12 weeks and I have about the same.

christine47 I am also at the ball cap and I don't care if your stare attitude. Tonight I am in a hotel in Chicago, and left my wig off when the room service guy came.

It's so good to see so much progress from where everyone started!

Really? I never lost all hair so I guess I don't see a ton of progress... I guess that's where photos help. I have other photos from pre chemo, during chemo and just post chemo... will try to upload.

saralmom: I will ask my son to help me post a picture of me. My hair is over my ears on the sides and I can now actually brush the top to the side if I want. The back hair just touches the top of my shirt. I am telling everyone the Keratin is absolutely the way to go.

I had my last chemo treatment August 18th. I wore my wig through end of April 2011. I hated the curls so much  I felt I had to wear it. I got the treatment the first week in May so I guess my hair has grown about almost 3/4 inch or more since then.

I feel for all of you whose hair has just started to grow back. It seems like it takes forever and then one day you have HAIR...curly but HAIR....Not having hair was probably the worst thing I ever went through so I am glad I don't have to wear a wig through another hot summer!!! YEAH

njbhwgirl - it sounds like we are on the same schedule - I finished at the end of August and stopped wearing my wig in mid March - prob a few weeks early now that I look back at the photos of me then.  It was SHORT!!!  And I do have hair over my ears and can part it, etc.  I keep my neckline trimmed up short because I have a low hairline, and it I let that go I would have a scary mullett.  Def want to see pics of your keratin.  I'm so excited about that process and can't wait to do it!!

Here is my hair at 7 months PFC--I had a trim a couple of weeks ago to get rid of the straggling hairs. It is coming in pretty full but seems to be slow growing. My next hair appt--I am going to try a hair treatment that was recommended.

Thanks to everyone for posting their pics. I know that it helped me significantly along this journey.

Rachel5738 - Lovely!!  And you have bangs too!!  August will be my 7 month mark, hopefully I'll have bangs by then.  Have you coloured it or is that natural - either way, looks wonderful and really suits you.

Thanks Marjie--I did a colour a couple of months back as when my hair originally grew in--it was a weird brown/ash/red colour. That colour faded out and as my hair started to grow more--haven't done any colour now...just natural. I am thinking of doing something when my hair is a little longer...not sure what.

    Rachel,

Your hair is cute.  You ladies are making me sad,  6-7 months before going without wig?  I am 7 weeks today, that sounds like forever!  I have shaved my legs already 2 times this week, and my eyebrows are getting very thin. Oh well at least I feel good!

Christine--I went without scarf probably around 2 months PFC--it was very GI-Jane-ish but I did it. I had bought a wig but wore it maybe three times--was never comfortable in it completely.  You will be surprised at how fast time will go.

My mother's friend told her that her onc said you won't have the hair you want for a year.  I'd say that's about accurate.  Mine was slow, then freaky chemo curl, now I'm battling some male-pattern-baldness I'm told will continue to fill in a bit.  Just got a second haircut, LOVE IT!  Very cute pixie punk cut.

Anyone else find their eyebrows thinned to almost nothing?  I have to wear powder every day, and I'm thinking of tattooing them.

I had to leave the wig in a box--I went through treatment during the summer, and there was NO WAY I could have coped with my hot flashes with a wig in tow.  Forget it.  I got a lot of street cred from my students who said I was a bada** for going bald.  For me, it was functional, there's nothing particularly bada** in my mind about stinky cancer.

I went topless at about 5 months. I wore hats all winter hardly ever wore my wigs or scarves. I would really like to see how this keratin treatment works.

OK, everytime my husband walks by me he rubs my head. He may think the cleaning genie is going to come out if he keeps rubbing  =;o)

sewingnut my husband has been doing that for months. I'm his pet puppy now that I have fur, I mean hair. (Try rubbing his belly when he does this.)

Rachel you look really cute and nothing like a chemo grow out.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketHere I am 21 weeks pfc.  Got the ears cut out the other day and the few that stuck up higher than the rest of it.  Still has some grays in there, but mostly brown.  Trying to lighten it with the Sheer Blonde shampoo.

thegood5 what pretty blue eyes you have. The short hair really does show them off. Are you going to stay short? BTW online you can't see the grays.

I just finished chemo yesterday and have about a half inch of partial growth. My chemo nurse told me yesterday that i couldn't salon color my hair for 3 months! DH and I are going to Paris the first week of Sep which means I will have to go salt n pepper, which I do not want to do! Did everyone else get the three month rule???

I was told I could dye it anytime I wanted. I waited almost three months because I didn't see any reason to do it before since I wasn't going topless yet.
