This is a great forum for everyone to see how different we can all be. hdangelbaby & Carrol2 have super fast growing hair...me, not so much. But at least it's getting there!  My DH and I went out for dinner tonight - I had a big necklace on that covered my port, actually took some time to put some makeup on and rubbed some goop in my hair and you know what????  I think I actually looked pretty darn good - not like a recovering cancer patient.  It felt good.

hdangelbaby Wow are you mega dosing on Biotin or what? You should look like me in about 2 days at the rate you going. Looking good!

Marj your hair may not be growing in quickly but it sure is growing in nicely. I bet it all of a sudden starts to take off.

hdangelbaby looking good. Looks like your hair was pretty straight before chemo maybe yours wont curl up like mine did.

marj glad to hear your get some normal back and feeling good about how you look. No one has to know.  I tried to look my best all through chemo it was very tough. I actually did get hit on once, felt good even though he was probably very drunk lol. I have a car show to go to next month and I am pertty stressed about how to look my best in the heat. Gonna bring a straw fedora and my cool clear sunglasses and i think i have some loose ruffled tops with no sleeves. And yes of course Lago lots of jewelry especially big earrings.

Ok, here is a pic of my hair and I guess after looking at the pic, I should not really be bitching since it looks like a lot of hair, but I really did lose a ton and I swear it is pink on top even if it doesn't look like it in the picture.  And who knows it it is over now or not, all I know is that I no longer have hair floating all over the place and it seems to be pretty stable now.   But isn't it wild how the darker hair is gone and what it left is totally white?

yeah I used to get hit on by young guys some times not all the time lol. These were not young guys. I was at like a flea market at a bar around xmas time, selling our dvds. The bar was recently bought by a woman i know at the gym and she invited me. She is updating the place now but it's kid of an old man's bar.

    Christine47 and everyone

I am 6.5 weeks pfc and starting to notice the hue of my scalp is changing from pink to dark shadow due to lots of dark hairs just underneath the skin and getting ready to burst through the follicles. Hope you are seeing the same Christine.

This started a few days ago after I began applying the Nioxin scalp treatment. I had been using the shampoo throughout but as I was also using Minoxidil I wasn't sure how to sequence that with the scalp treatment. Will keep up the treatment for a bit and see how it goes. Timing could just be coincidence of course.

As my hair gets longer, I think I might try brushing a lot to stimulate growth. I remember that Marcia on the Brady Bunch used to do that and it seemed to work for her LOL!

    Racy,

Marcia Brady, LOL.  My kids would not have a clue who you are talking about.  Looks like a bunch of us are of the same era.

I have not used the Nixon products, but am taking my Biotin.  I have the dark shadow and some has poked thru as well as some fuzz.  I am looking in the mirror all day long.   It is really getting hot here (NC), so wig is becoming very hot.  I am massaging my head some, not sure if that is helping, maybe I will try a soft brush too.  My goal is to have enough coverage when I have my exchange surgery late July or August to wear a ball cap and not be to obvious of a cancer patient.

Racy, did you do TAC too?

I really enjoy seeing every ones pictures, thanks for taking the time to do it. I'm not having any luck posting my own so I just updated my avatar.

Ok - I read someone asked about how to get the shine back in your hair. I had to have a semi-permanent color put on to get it back. But it works well. Then I had a few highlites put in on the top and sides  This also helps with the appearance of thickness.

Ladym13 - hair looks great, lots of it too! Congrats.

Yes Christine I did TAC and I think we are progressing at the same rate now. I am going on a beach holiday starting 2 August so I am also aiming for a lot more growth by then.

We have winter now in Aus but during summer my head was constantly sweating thickly which was not pleasant. Exacerbated by hot flashes I am sure. Now it's winter my head gets very cold if I don't have it covered constantly. I see bald men and want to say to them "isn't your head cold?". I can't imagine why anyone would purposely shave their head, as is the fashion lately, especially in winter.

Marybe in that photo you really can't tell you are having an issue but I can tell it has thinned a bit. People who don't know you or who aren't paying attention really won't be able to tell.

Brushing your hair doesn't stimulate growth but massaging the scalp does. At least that's what I was told.

Hi everyone!  Thanks so much for the photos and updates. Gorgeous all the way around.

LOL on the Marcia Brady comment :)

Like Christine and Racy, I'm 6.5 wks PFC. I think I have much more (all completely white) peach fuzz on top, with some darker 5:00 shadow looking stuff underneath.

My eyebrows are *still* completely gone...but I have now, like- 1cm eyelashes! Whoo hoo!

And...I think I might shave my legs today!

I am 4.5 weeks post chemo... I have 1 inch fuzz on crown and sides of head... shorter in back and stubble top front and not much at temples... It is hard to tell what is chemo hari and what is my hair... I am a blond so its hard to distinguish. It is indeed growing though because when chemo ended I didn't have anything top front, and now there is something.

I have my lashes still, but brows are very thin (they haven't changed since mid-chemo) not better or worse.

Iowasue  your too sexy for your tractor!!!!!!! My hair is about the same length as yours and am goin topless everywhere now.  My friends say I have the "right" face to wear my hair this short...I dont know what that means but I dont like it this short and will not even think of keeping it this way.

Marybe  forgot to say that your hair is a fabulous white!  Not everyone gets that great color, some very mousy gray.  I only had gray left after chemo but when my hair grew back, they gray fell out and it all came back in dark brown.  I used to color my hair to cover the gray, but now only seeing a little on the sides.  Hope it stays

    Cool Pink Tractor, IOWASUE!!!

I still have some hair hanging on and it's strawberry blond that is left. Very spikey and course. Probably gray hair in disguise. I started using the Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. I will wait until after chemo to use the scalp therapy by Nioxin..

    Looking good iowasue!

Carberry - I feel the same way - people keep telling me that my hair is cute and that I should keep it short, but I would never, EVER keep it like this.  I was just in my husbands office today, and he has a photo I haven't seen in ages of the two of us at a formal work function from about 5 years ago.  My hair is a bit past my shoulders - I want that back!  (Although 5 years ago I wasn't even 40 yet so I could prob pull it off easier than now!)

I'm keeping my short for a while although I still need some more in the front. Back and sides might even be a bit long now.

I haven't been on here in a while and had to check in to see the most recent photos.  IowaSue.... love the pink John Deere.... and the hair.

I am 9.5 months PFC and have three trims.  Just so glad to have some bangs and it is staying fairly straight on the sides, but the back is real wavy. If I really work at it, I can do the punky thing, but  I pretty much just blow it dry and see where it lands.

marjie  My Dh wanted to drop me off at the front door of the restaurant cause it was raining buckets and I told him he didnt have to cause my hair wasnt going anywhere ande could get wet without any problems.  These are the small perks!
