slcst12, or someone, how do you get the pictures on?? I am not a computer person, and my teenager is confused.

slcst12 You look like you're growing at a great pace to me. Oddly enough I had sides and back first.0

Thanks so much ladies It really does help to look at photos! (Thanks to Caroll for this suggestion!)
Christine:
I hosted them on photobucket, then click the "tree" icon on BC .org webpage to insert photo. Then copy the tag from photobucket and paste in the pop up that comes up...I'm completely NOT tech savvy...it took me 2 days to figure this out...*and* I had posted the 4.5 wk photo before...(Chemo brain!)

Awesome, Christine :):)
I see growth FOR SURE!
And it's nice and dark, (mine is lots of gray)
Your also seems quite long to me! Maybe it's the nice close-up shot!??!

slcst and christine 47 looks like you have very good growth you will have good coverage in no time.

close -up shot for sure. I just got out of the shower, no make up and long day, so not ready to show my face, LOL. My head is itchy and you can see some red bumps, almost feels and looks the same as when the hair fell out. Next picture will not be so close up, I promise. And there is some gray at the ear area, same as before chemo!
Carrol2, thanks again for suggesting the weekly photo thing, it does help. I have checked out yours and Lago over and over to see what I might expect.

Question ladies...my onc said I could use Nioxin for hair growth...After looking at Walgreen's and Shopko, finally figured out that you have to get from salon. Wish he would have told me THAT part. So I got the shampoo/conditioner (GIANT bottles...all my stylist carried...should last a YEAR!) and I read on the bottle that it is a 3-step system, so i called stylist back and sure enough, there is also a spray, which she recommended I use too. She said the spray (can't remember what it is called) can be a bit irritating and even cause scalp to turn red, so not to be alarmed. Said I should use at night. Anyone else using these products? I am only 2 weeks out from final chemo and have some very light fuzz similar to Christine's picture I think. Onc would not agree to any Biotin during chemo since I was on clinical trial; am considering that as well. Any/all advice appreciated!
Also, what about Minoxadil? Saw that recommended too and bought that. Then read fine print which says it isn't effective for hair loss due to chemotherapy, although I guess it is still frequently used by chemo patients. Can you use both the Nioxin and Minoxadil at the same time?

Your photo confirms our growth is at a very similar stage. Thanks for posting it. My eyebrows and lashes have thinned but still have some. Have you lost yours?
Does anyone know how long brows and lashes take to grow back?

I have been using Nioxin shampoo since before chemo and also the Minoxidil from time to time even during chemo. I have just started using the Nioxin scalp treatment in the last few days. I also take a B complex vitamin as advised by my naturopath.
I am not sure if any of these things work but I think they are worth a try. Lately I have been using the scalp treatment in the morning and Minoxidil at night but no-one told me to do it that way. I usually wash twice a day as my head gets sweaty with the hot flashes.
Good luck to you both as it seems we are all at a similar stage.

I just purchased the Nioxin System kit #2 yesterday at JC Penney. They have kits numbered up to 6, the #2 system was for "noticeably thinning fine natural hair". Some of the other kits are for chemically treated hair, or for medium to coarse hair, ect. But I felt the #2 kit best described my hair.
The kit apparently has shampoo (they refer to it as a cleanser), conditioner and a 'leave in' treatment. It cost $29, that was with a coupon for ten dollars off. I haven't spent any money on my hair in six months, so I didn't mind paying that. It may or may not work, but why not try it.
I am 2 weeks PFC and have little wispy bird-feather-like downy growth on my head, similar also to Christine's, it is white, I am 53 years old so I figured it'd come in like that.

I would like to be able to post a clickable link to the Nioxin website, it has a description to all the kits but can't figure how to do it (any advice is appreciated). Anyway for those interested, maybe you can copy this link to your web browser and go to their website:

Huskerkkc I have been using the nioxin shampoo, conditioner and leave in scalp treatment, that is kind of a mousse. When I first used the mousse it did make my head and any place it dripped red and kind of warm but that went away once the hair started to really grow. since 3 weeks PFC. I stopped it for about a month and I do thin the growth slowed a little bit. So got back into it again. I wash my hair every day when I get home from the gym in the morning and use all three things then. I also got the nioxin smoothing cream to help flatten out my curls which makes it a little flatter not so round afro like.0

Racy, I have lost some lashes and brows, more in the last week, but enough still hanging on that if you did not know me you won't notice. I think my hair has been slower that some of the other girls, maybe since we did TAC which is exceptionally harsh.
I am taking the Biotin, but have not bought the Nixon, may see if I can get to JCPennys today and check it out. I have been using a very small amount of my husband's Head and Shoulders as I have some red bumps (mild foliculitis?) and this is often recommended for that. I also have very sensitive skin.
Happy hair day to you all!

I'm using Nioxin 2 system, no idea if it is working or not but I think my hair is longer. I got mine at a Beauty Supply store of sorts. It was around $30, I recall. I use the scalp treatment (which is a separate thing) a couple of times a day as I also have had itchiness and red bumps and it seemed to help it. It seems to be less now, so maybe that was when the hair was falling out. Surprisingly, I've almost used all the shampoo and conditioner that I bought when I started chemo 3/17, the bottles were not giant though. I'm 4 weeks PFC and it looks much like Christine's. Will try to take and post pics, I'm not tech savvy either!

I saw the Nioxin shampoo and conditioner at our local Costco a couple days ago..the litter of shampoo was 19 and conditioner was 21..not sure if it's at all costcos..I haven't bought it yet because I was worried it would irritate my scalp because it has a fairly strong smell..but just wanted to let people know

I am also trying the Nixion #2, shampoo, conditioner, and scalp treatment. I have been taking Biotin for at least a couple of years. I just finished my third cycle of Cytoxan/Abraxane and will do at least one more. Over the weekend I noticed a few little "sprouts" just above each temple. I never did lose all of my hair, although it is extremely thin of course. Thought I would try the Nioxin regime just to see if I could accelerate the process faster. I also noticed a little facial fuzz, which wasn't there a while ago. It's so much fun to see everyone's hair progression!

Could you lovely ladies recommend a brand of biotin? I'm ready to try something to strengthen my hair. Also, did anyone experience some receeded hairline after chemo? My hair has grown back and is taking off, but it's softer and I have more of a receeded hairline than usual. Someone else told me to be patient, that it fills in eventually.

Hmm...I'm using the Nioxin 8. I'm not really sure why, it was just recommended to me before I started chemo.
I can tell you that I ran out of my small bottles of Nioxin for about 3 weeks during chemo. And for those three weeks, I shed a LOT more than I had before.
I need to take a picture...I'm one week PFC and I 'm not 100% bald. But I certainly don't have hair, either.
